The “big” changes are fixes to things most people see as bugs and problems. The feature patch does not introduce anything new or especially good, it just fixes what needed fixing.

Hey all

I’ve started playing this game during the 3-day headstart. I had a blast, made new friends, explored, I simply got overwhelmed by the game and can simply say, it was the best game I ever played.

Before you all go “Burn-out”, I’m quite confident that this is not the case. I have stopped playing this game in early August 2013, after about 11 months of playing it (exam breaks included). More and more I saw the gaps in the game:

  • lack of PvE end-game of value (everything got repetitive),
  • lack of PvP end-game of value (WvW is rather much the contrary of fun when you are getting smashed by blobs making you lagg and SPvP is hardly a PvP mode at all).
  • and they didn’t fill those gaps, because of the focus on “Living Story”

As I see it, the game was PERFECT for a beta release in the first 1/2 months. What it did fail in was: bug fixing very soon after release (just didn’t happen), adding new content (just didn’t happen either).

Some things could be a lot better in GW2, and those things could and should have been fixed within the first 3 months.
A few examples:
- kicking offline players in World vs. World
- party-leader leaving dungeon deleting the instance;
- population imbalance in World vs. World (server vs. server is a bad system when you don’t make a clear distinction between PvE and PvP players);
- stacking as a dungeon tactic and defiance/unshakeable as a boss mechanic;
- zerging as the main tactic for WvW.

The thing that killed this game, was living story. The attention living story got, was actually something required for creating new maps (PvE/PvP/WvW), weapons, classes, races, skills and so much more. What did we get? Rushed biweekly content with an incoherent and naive story, annoying characters, dumb rewards (minis, backpieces), plenty gem-store purchases, a few implements that ruin QoL (Ascended, Dailies, Achievement Grind)…

Now Anet announces a “traditional” feature patch, but most of the things we’ll get (I speculate) will be things we should have gotten 1 year ago: new wvw maps (EotM), a fix for zerker (but no fix for stacking and bad boss mechanics), accountbound WXP ranks (which weren’t necessary in the first place).

Are you excited? I’m not.
I’m rather disappointed because they wasted over 1 year a half to realise that Living Story IS NOT an equivalent for worthy content.

My hopes for April aren’t very high and I doubt that Anet will bring anything more than fixes and content we should have gotten long ago.

Will I quit this game? Not yet. April/May will be the deciding month though.

Thanks OP for writing this out. While some people (read: fanboys) prefer trolling and calling out hate messages, I will not do so. Most of what you say is true.

  • Content IS not really content, it’s just item progression.
  • Multiplayer in this game is the biggest trash I’ve ever seen: spam 1 skill with 50 or more other people and you win.

I agree, and it saddens me, but that’s the way it is. I actually still play the game, but only PvP though. I find that SPvP serves for a lot of interesting situations IF you ignore the meta and IF you are an opportunist. xD I for my part am not mad for the amount of hours I played because the most of them were in WvW/SPvP and I enjoyed them.

1. Stats being bound to armour and weapons. Worst design ever.

2. Ascended gear

3. Upscaling alts in WvW; it’s a joke

4. Zergs being most effective & profitable in every area of the game

5. Skins: why is there no database? Wtf

[If I can cheat, I would add Living story (or actually the general story): so stereotype, so bland, it’s fit for a 12-year old. A total letdown]

Why crafting is so unpopular.

in Crafting

Posted by: Sirendor.1394

Sirendor.1394

I don’t get why anet still tries to get attention to crafting through ascended, because it is probably one of the most useless parts of the game. Here’s what is wrong with the crafting system:

- It’s cheaper to just buy any items from the trading post than craft those items yourself.
- You don’t earn any benefit from crafting things yourself: you don’t make profit, you don’t get ‘special’ items from chance discoveries etc.
- Materials cost so much that it makes crafting nothing but a huge loss of money.

What should be done about crafting:
- Make it useful: have a chance at crafting a precursor or other special item or getting materials back. Allow us to make extraordinary items that have a use and that are exclusive, yet not necessary (contra ascended crafting, because it costs way too much money).
- Make crafting profitable. I don’t know how it is, but a crafter actually looses money. In any other game I have ever played, the items you made through crafting were more valuable than the raw materials. The only way to achieve this at this point seems to be to nerf material prices and make craftable items equal price as drops.

A problem I think here is that crafting involves making items from 1-80 and most players just buy cheaper versions on the trading post that were dropped from a random mob. Not to mention that nobody actually buys a lot of armour from 1-80 (or buys karma gear from a merchant), basically because the gear is worthless anyways: after 5 levels it becomes redundant. This is basically a problem with the leveling system. Crafting should have been a matter of skills/usage not of stats and levels.

Sirendor.1394

From what I’m reading, you found the game amazing and then quit because you had more and more expectations from it.
Personally, I really like the living story. It’s everything I’d expect from a constantly changing world. If you don’t like it, I’m afraid this isn’t the game for you.

And from what I’m reading you don’t have thought of a needle in connection with the balloon that Living Story really is.
What has living story brought us?

  • Molten Facility: dungeon that was temporary
  • Aetherblade Refuge: dungeon that was temporary
  • Bazaar of the Four Winds: new map that was temporary
  • Queen’s Gauntlet: temporary boss fights (this one was actually good)
  • Queen’s Jubilee: a cheap champ farm spot
  • SAB: not a part of this game, but rather something that fits in minecraft
  • Twilight Arbor: permanent dungeon path that now replaces an existing
  • Tequatl Revamp so it requires 100 people. (none of the lower pop servers do it)
  • Tower of Nightmares: temporary map/instance with rather poor mechanics
  • Kessex Hills: permanent transformation so it now looks like a blight.
  • Wintersday & Halloween that don’t count as Living Story (rather holiday events)
  • AND a bi-weekly achievement grind.

Out of all those I see 2 permanent additions.

What would a normal full expansion give us (after 1 year a half), analogy with GW1?
PvE:

  • 15-20 new maps (maybe the whole of cantha/elona)
  • ~2 new classes
  • 1 or 2 new races
  • a completely new story based on the new maps
  • a better approach towards dynamic events most likely, making them better and more rewarding
  • possibly a lot of new weapon skills
  • 5+ new dungeons in the new zones, each with their own paths

PvP:

  • New game mode(s)
  • New maps (we have gotten 5 new ones over the course of 1 year a half right now, which is rather good)
  • A rework of the rewards for PvP (most likely)

WvW:

  • several new maps (since we only have 2 unique maps right now: EB and Borderlands)
  • a better method for upscaling alts (similar to PvP)
  • a ton more of customization options: guild mercenaries; guild missions in World vs. World; custom building of certain things: camps, barricades; ….

I completely agree with the OP. Personally I have stopped playing GW2… for two and a half weeks now? I, too, was extremely bored and “burned out” by the tasks/achievements/dailies/monthlies, … you name it. The game is at this very moment a chore and everything that was fun about it, became a grinding nightmare.

I didn’t come to this forum just to flame on Arenanet, but this story has been going around the forums since the start of the dailies/monthlies, the fractals and the living story. The moment they implemented those the whole game gradually became one giant freakin’ taskitten

pt playing because of a “it might get better” feeling. But now, one day I totally had enough of it. Tons of people have been complaining about arenanets orientation with this game, and yet instead of fixing it… they add more grind content with each patch.
So I quit. I loved this game, as a GW1 veteran, but it just doesn’t make up to it’s name and I think arenanet will loose more and more players if they continue on this downward path into grind/farm/no-brains/chore etc.

I play games because they’re fun, that’s why they’re called “games”, I don’t play them so I can frustrate myself at farming money and noticing that I still need to farm more and more.

I don’t understand there’s still people defending arenanet on this.

How can you deny that…

  • Masteries are a grindwall covering up that they didn’t put much new content in the game?
  • Elite specs are a paywall to be competitive in PvP right now? Only a handful of core specs are able to compete fairly.
  • World vs. World is now a looot less active, partially because of gigantic maps that are too annoying to navigate around, partially because of auto-upgrades?
  • Dungeons are no longer worth playing because they nerfed the rewards on them?
  • Fractals had their rewards moved behind a paywall so that rewards people used to get in core, are now only available after level 50 and require the expansion?
  • Arenanet has been pumping out outfit after outfit, and weapon set after weapon set through the gem store?

I can probably continue summing up, but I think you get my point. Please be realistic. Arenanet is a company, they want to make profits, they’re not angels, they’re not your friends.

It’s okay and understandable that a company wants to make profits, but it’s not okay when it takes things out of the core game, when it promises different things than it delivers etc. There’s a moral code of conduct that companies should not break, because if they do, they’re likely to lose customers.

GW2 combat is broken

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sirendor.1394

Sirendor.1394

Just bringing an old topic back to attention. The combat system, while Anet tried to make something revolutionary, away from the trinity, is simply broken.

The main principle of the combat is:
- Everyone can heal/support (role 1)
- Everyone can deal damage (role 2)
- Everyone can tank (role 3)

The problem is… healing & tanking are incredibly undervalued in this game:

  • As a healer you’ll do bad because:
    - PvE: you don’t need any healers.
    - PvP (i’m not talking about mechanics, I’m talking about the fighting): if you go healer, you lower the team’s damage and are nothing but a squishy fishy that can’t even fight back. It’s close to impossible to heal your allies because enemies eat through your health faster than you can heal it, aoe heals are limited to 5 persons and a lot of the heals actually miss because of the crazy movement skills in the game. On top of that, the self-heal is usually higher than anything the healer can do.
  • As a tank you’ll do even worse because:
    - PvE: you don’t need tanks even less than healers because armour ratings make tiny tiny differences. 3,5k armor compared to 1,8k (lowest possible armor) means about 40% less damage (someone corrected this), while the person with just 2k armour will deal easily 300% more damage through his power/prec, conditions or both.
    - PvP: tanks are, like healers, weakening the team, because they contribute less damage and still take a lot because the armor ratings don’t make a big difference. Also the main defensive abilities are dodging and blocking, which are all abilities that can not be used to defend allies because you can’t do it for allies.

So what it comes down to is: damage dealing. The only role in this game is for dealing the most damage as possible in the shortest time, while trying to take as low damage as possible. Yes I’m aware most people run a hybrid build, but still a hybrid build that focuses on getting a lot of damage as the first stat.

This results in 2 strategies.

  • Disabling enemies and dealing loads of direct damage in burst
  • Stacking conditions on enemies to spike them down over time

Neither healers (players with ~1,5k healing power), neither tanks (people with 2k+ toughness) can do anything against these damage dealers, because:
- direct damage is reduced, but still deals an incredible amount against a regular tank
- condition damage isn’t even reduced by armour and can only be removed through condition removal, and not through heals

The combat becomes very much a matter of stunlocking and/or kiting, leaving barely any room for individual or team strategy because the main principle is take care of yourself.

World linking and names [Merged]

in WvW

Posted by: Sirendor.1394

Sirendor.1394

They all show host server names. I was fighting against UW players today and they all had FSP tags now. I knew them only from their guild tags so, nothing will show which smaller server they from.

Thanks for answering, FogLeg. That’s exactly correct. The biggest motivator for showing only the “host” world in enemy nameplates was to help identify enemies quicker. With only two other world names showing up in a given week, it’s easier to quickly figure out which color team they belong to. Since world linking supports any number of “guest” worlds linked to a single host, it would potentially get pretty confusing to see a big zerg of nameplates with any number of world names, and figure out the composition of one team versus another.

As for not seeing an allied player’s guest (actual) world name anywhere, we wanted to be sure world linking wouldn’t create any avoidable friction between players. One of the major goals we have with GW2 is always making sure encounters with other players are positive experiences (my paraphrasing). So anything we could do to let guests blend in and only stand out if they felt like calling themselves out as such is likely to be a good thing toward that goal.
Plus, there actually just aren’t that many places in the UI where we show allied players’ world names, so this was an easy goal to keep for this side of things.

Helping maintain guest world pride is a little tougher. We could show each player their world’s name in more areas of the UI, regardless of if they’re on a guest world or not, but this may cause communication issues, with some maps and areas of maps being named after worlds.

I’m open to hearing any feedback people have on little ways we could improve the feeling of world linking, while maintaining unambiguous communication for players and avoiding any negative “tribalism.”

Thank you for the extensive answer!

I agree that it would start to get a bit confusing as to who belongs with who when there’s multiple server names. And I also agree that it is probably better to have people united between the host and guest servers.

However, I personally have always taken some pride in guild first, server second. Vabbi for example has long been a roamer paradise. FoW and UW for example are also known for their roaming and small guilds. Would be sad to just see that disintegrate into the ‘mighty zergs of the high tiers’.

If possible, there should be some way of distinguishing between the two servers, so the identity doesn’t just disappear and the low tier servers aren’t simply a ‘buffer’ or ‘reinforcement’ of the high tier server.

Also, this is my only concern for the moment. This situation is a lot better than the previous situation where some servers barely could muster forces.

What Happened To WvW?

in WvW

Sirendor.1394

I think WvW dev team is the worst among ANET teams in communicating with players and address real problems in game play. SPvP team got lot of heat but they actually do show up on forum to answer player concerns. WvW team just don’t talk at all and don’t even try to address the “elephant in the room” balance problems in WvW.

Seriously, just scrap WvW already and make some tweaks to EoTM.

What is the point of EotM by itself?

1. If I want to fight for my server, WvW is far better.
2. If I want loot, PvE is far better.
3. If I want serious PvP where my skill matters, tPvP is far better.

Fine, EotM appeals to certain playstyles. But I really think most of the people there right now are there only because of unfixed problems with real WvW. The solution is to fix them, not destroy what could be a great playstyle for no reason.

Except that nobody ever cared about point 1 because servers are a lame way of allegiance.

Seriously… if I was fighting for my guild (and getting rewarded guild halls, capes, banners, influence, merits and much more for it), I would be there… but I’m not fighting for my guild because they don’t reward guilds AT ALL.

I’d like to add aswell: totally alt-unfriendly: if you have 5 level 80s (I know people with as much as 10):

  • You need to max all armour and all weapon crafts:
    - 6×200g artificer, huntsman, weaponsmith, leathworker, armoursmith, tailor.
    - 6×60g for armour per character: 5×360g
    - 5×60g: lets take 5 weapons (I know that isn’t much) per character: 5×300g

In total you’d need
1200g (crafts) + 1800 (armour) + 1500 (weapons): 4500g

Do you get the picture?

Actually no. People complained that Anet sent in “patch” after “patch” (hardly called a patch), with filler content that didn’t really seem to lead anywhere and that brought little to no reward in exchange for grind. What people want is a bigger gap between content releases, but content that actually is good and will keep us busy, not for 1-3 days, but weeks if not months. If they released an expansion with 1-2 new classes, + several maps, new mechanics to explore, I’d be busy with that a long while.

Well… lets look on the bright side:

  • Anet implements Tier Exotic +1 gear that will bring Competitive PvP into a serious imbalance.
  • Tier Exotic +1 gear is impossible to create, because it requires ridiculous amount of materials.
  • Nobody makes ascended, so nobody needs to get them, cause if nobody has them, PvP won’t be imbalanced.

On top of that.

  • No more reason to play, since Ascended was ment as their newest stick/carrot.
  • No more GW2 full-time job (aka. grinding), time to go play a real game.

Your top 5 design mistakes in GW2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sirendor.1394

Sirendor.1394

Over a month ago I have listed the 5 biggest mistakes I saw at that point.

1- Stats bound to gear
2- Ascended
3- Upscaling
4- Effectiveness of zergs
5- Lack of skin database

Today I present a new list!
1 Stats bound to armour is still one of the biggest mistakes I see. It ruins variety and calls for very player-unfriendly activities. Ascended gear is automatically redundant from this approach.

2 The last weeks I’m coming to the conclusion that the combat has maior flaws, causing things such as zergs, champion trains, full zerk running in dungeons etc…

  • AoE damage is probably the only way of doing PvP
  • Abandoning the trinity the game has destroyed the base for team work: interplayer dependency.
  • The scaling between Damage, Armour and Health is completely out of balance.
  • Defiant as a mechanic
  • The fact that mobs don’t seem to use more than 1-3 skills.

3 Levels: I literally don’t see why there even are levels in this game. Every zone is open to all players. Still they are made for certain levels, but they’re accessible and playable for any level. Why is this needed at all? Isn’t it simply easier to make all zones level 0 (and destroy the notion of level), and traits, skills, weapons unlocked through activities instead of through leveling?

4 Player-made content. The game lacks it. There is no way any player can create his own content in this game, and it makes end-game near non-existent. This should have been added from day 1, in the form of housing (allowing you to create your own furniture, decoration, build the house like you want it, stone by stone), crafts (involving discovering new recipes randomly, not pre-made ones), player vs. player environments (how come we can’t do anything with keeps/towers we own? why can’t we build additions? Why can’t we hire soldiers with guild insignias, why can’t we…)

5 Story: not immersive enough. Not original. Not heroic. Not memorable.

GW2 The First Year

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Sirendor.1394

I think the game became worse.

I think GW2 was released as something with a lot of flaws, but also with a lot of potential.

Take Dynamic Events, for example. Sure, many are – boring, telling no story, with no impact in the world. But some are amazing, showing how they could be used to make a truly dynamic world rich with small stories happening all around the players.

But then ArenaNet learned that players don’t care that much about dynamic events, unless they can be used to farm (even if farming requires people to exploit the event). So instead of improving the DE design, and making more of the story-based events, ArenaNet has focused on the opposite: using shallow events with no impact on the world, borrowing mechanics from other places, and repeating the resulting DEs all over the map.

Just take a look at the invasions. The Aetherblade event is just a copy of the “drive away the Aetherblades” events we had to unlock the baloons, which is probably why minions count in a per-kill basis, while pirates are under a per-event basis. The invasions are the same event repeated in multiple maps, just like the Instigator events in Southsun were the same event repeated twice in the same map.

Imagine if the game were like that at release. Instead of the Claw of Jormag, the Shatterer and Tequatl, we would have the same generic dragon minion spawning in three places in the world, using the exact same mechanics in all the 3 places.

This is not an improvement. This is ArenaNet wasting all the potential DEs had, while using events as an easy way to make players farm.

The same could be said about all other aspects of the game. In exchange for minor features (what did the wallet really add to the game? Other than freeing some inventory slots, it’s not really that much of an improvement), we got things that are either making the game worse (champion boxes) or wasting its potential.

Once upon a time, ArenaNet boasted that they would take a hard stance against exploiters. Then they lost a lot of players, and now they are afraid to ban the exploiters, fearing they would lose more players than they can afford to throw away.

I agree, but sadly messages like yours are being ignored by ArenaNet. You have written this very orderly and logically consistent, thank you for putting it so clear and expressing what I had in mind.

I’d like to add that for me GW2 was supposed to be a neverending, ever evolving world, which threw challenges at you and asked you to act, or else the consequences for the world would be grave. Instead of using dynamic events throughout the world that would change the world, based on if they were succeeded or failed by the players, they simply threw them in as a world-filler, always the same things being required of you and no real challenge involved.

Instead they started with “Living story”, a term so abused in this case, that it’s hard to tell what it even means anymore. The story doesn’t seem to do anything at all, it doesn’t matter what the player does… the story goes on without change even if nobody fought the a) Molten Alliance b) Aetherblades c) Holographics d) More Aetherblades e) Pointkitten sses in QJ f) Scarlet…

The example I like to use for what it should have been is the currently existing Centaur Event chain in Kessex Hills. At a certain moment the centaurs start to build a bridge, the players destroy the bridge and so on. The problem is, the event isn’t hard at all. Downleveled aswell as on-level players can succeed without difficulty.

But instead, what if the event was really hard and required you to rally players all over the world, because if you didn’t… the centaurs might become a real threat and change the world forever. They raid the villages in kessex hills, destroying structures (that’s right, destroyed permanently). This could set a whole of missions in motion. Players needing to recruit NPC soldiers to help them in the battle against centaurs, big battles that mean something. If the centaurs get through they permanently change the world, eventually possibly threatening trade routes (cutting off black lion trading?) and permanently killing npcs, buildings, mobs… maybe invading the capital of Kryta, Divinity’s Reach itself? Also, skill should be a major part of this, not the mindless zerging we see now. Depending on your ability to face of enemies alone (that’s right, the reward scales with the difficulty), you earn ‘allegiance points’ and can climb into a world system, becoming a noble with your own estate, or a thief that works for a local thief guild.

Of course this is a dynamic event… but one on a HUGE scale. This is what Guild Wars 2 needed… not the silly Living Stories we get right now.

What brings you down about gw2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Sirendor.1394

I have a huge list…

PvE:

  • Personal story: bland, boring, no personal impact, stereotype, Trahearne
  • Dynamic events: not enough of them, no impact on the world, bad rewards
  • Renown hearts: a poor replacement for quests, poor or no story attached, very repetitive (only about 3 variations: collect, kill, destroy).
  • Dungeons: DPS DPS DPS, no other roles, bad boss mechanics, not enough of them
  • Living story: stereotype, boring, bad rewards, no impact on world

SPvP:

  • No real progression, ranks too hard to achieve
  • Skin unlocking is dissapointing
  • No real PvP: point-capping all the way
  • Nothing done against glory farmers
  • Barely any patches

WvW:

  • Lame open world combat
  • No background story
  • Lack of customization
  • No free armour/weapons
  • Zerging
  • Coverage wars and PvD
  • No fixes, no new maps (EotM is karmatrains), no balance

General:

  • Money = everything
  • Grindy gear
  • Not a lot of skins
  • Gem store is just mindblowing (buy gems for a CHANCE at a weapon ticket or a dye?!)
  • Game lacks any real additions
  • Guilds: barely any management tools, barely any resources (please expand missions to pvp)

Sirendor.1394

One word comes to mind… blow-out.
4/5 of all the matches aren’t even a competition.

Where’s the challenge?

A summary of this week in EU (based on scores):
Gold:
SFR – ER – Kodash (SFR has 5 to 3) FAIL
RS – AR – Piken (AR 3 to 4)
Baruch – Viz – JS (Viz has 5 to 3) FAIL

Silver:
AM – GH – UW (worst match-up: 6 to 3 / 6 to 2 for AM) FAIL
AG – FSP – Gandara (FSP clearly less coverage again)
FR – Deso – MS (Deso leading 9 to 6) FAIL

Bronze:
Dzag – RoS – Vabbi (again no challenge at all 5 to 1 for RoS, 4 to 1 for Dzag) FAIL
BT – WSR – RoF (7 to 2, 7 to 1) FAIL
FoW – DL – Arbor (DL leading 7/8 to 1) FAIL

So out of 9 match-ups, 7 are a complete blow-out without any challenge at all, but purely based on the fact that one or two servers have a population of perhaps 5 times as high as the other server/servers. This means that nearly 80% is a fail.

Is this what WvW is supposed to be or is this part of the game just completely screwed up?

Sirendor.1394

I think 2 years is patience enough to let people complain on this without getting told to “have patience”.

This. I have played this game from headstart and since then the biggest complains I’ve seen:

  • WvW is unbalanced and uncompetitive
  • There is no GvG and absolutely no Guild tools (guild missions are very very basic)
  • In SPvP build matters more than skill: condibunk
  • PvE is stack and zerg, repetitive and has seen very few changes
  • There is no end-game except grinding for legendaries/ascended/cosmetic stuff

All of these complains are true and nothing has changed about it. We had enough patience.

Big WvW overhaul later this year...

in WvW

Sirendor.1394

Allow me to quote:

We may not be ready to reveal more in early 2016, but you’ll have an opportunity to get all the details and give feedback when we go into the beta phase of this massive project later this year.

Other Big Events for Early 2016
… what else can you expect to see over the course of the next few months? Let’s take a look at other releases and events already planned out and firmly scheduled between now and the end of March in 2016.

So summing up what they’re saying is early 2016 is until april of this year, and we will not see anything before that time. Assuming they do reveal some details in the course of April, that still means that they need to go through beta events before finally releasing their “Major overhaul” somewhere in summer.

The number 6 seems like the right answer at this moment if you want to know how many months not to play this game.

Sirendor.1394

Oh really now? What is this vertical progression you speak of?

Faction points.
Sunspear points.
Lightbringer points.
(Two of which were actually REQUIRED to even get past certain parts of the MAIN STORYLINE, and the third more or less required to do a certain dungeon or even certain parts of the world, including later missions.)

Ebon Vanguard points.
Deldrimor points.
Norn points.
Asura points.

I would say that was a rather massive amount of grind and vertical progression there, especially since all of those gave skills and most (all but Factions and Sunspear) gave very real and quite powerful passive effects when equipped.

Lol. Those were faaar from a grind. Sunspear required 1k points if I remember correctly and you could easily get 50 points from one single quest (not to mention extra points from killing hostile mobs), and each quest was unique and not repetitive but rather fun in my experience. Lightbringer points were gathered through simply following your story, I didn’t even farm for any of it.

All the other titles were pretty much not needed. You could get them by grinding sure, but they werent needed for anything, just for players who wanted to show: I completed x, y, z.

Your point is invalid.

QoL in Guild Wars 2: Alts

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sirendor.1394

Sirendor.1394

Alts are debateably one of the least user-friendly areas in the game.

Armour and weapons are soulbound, and to function well you need multiple stat combos at your disposal. Leveling is tedious after multiple alts and the only ways of not having to go through the same boring gameplay for hours and hours is through crafting or speedrunning citadel of flame and quickly switching in the end. On top, the only good PvP in the game is limited to level 80s, whatever anyone says (if you run anything but a level 80 geared in exotic or better quality you die in seconds).
Dyes are for obnoxious reasons unlocked ONLY on one character and so on.
This really needs better.

Some ideas have already been written over these forums multiple times:

  • Deleting “soulbound” (and replacing it with accountbound)
  • Adding a skin database with unlimited unlocking of skins you unlocked.

Others can be added:

  • Making experience convertible from character to character.
  • Allowing us to unlock hair-styles and colours permanently for the whole account (by purchasing them in the store)
  • Allowing characters to use gear you bought on others.
  • Making certain stat combinations unlockable for the whole account.
