This thread looked like a cry for attention but it seems there is some decent content here, so I guess I’ll post two ideas.
A working free for all and team deathmatch option.
I just think that revealed needs to be longer.
snipples
ah I see yeah I think that would be a great change.
(edited by Stand The Wall.6987)
I would rather get rid of soloq and do teamq. We have a LFG system that no one seems to use. If the community utilized that to make teams they could filter out who can join by their rank.
it would be interesting to see how this would play out. might work! forcing people into teams could make for better matchups, strategy, and overall experience. going casual hasn’t worked out so far, at least not as good as it could be, nawmeen.
So many mouths moving
So little words
chances are if youre in bronze you don’t have the “skill” required to climb tiers. just chance tho everyone is an exception.
I’m saying that you’ll end up on the better team just as often as you end up on the worse team. The basic effect of the system produces a 50% winrate.
so 50% blowout match win rate > 50% close match lose rate?
Maybe allow only certain skills to breach the aoe cap, such as:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Frozen_Ground
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Well_of_Darkness
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Plague
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Frost_Trap
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Muddy_Terrain
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Caltrops
Etc., and any other aoe movement impairing skill. This would allow smaller groups to effectively kite larger ones, promoting smart play and punishing zerging. I think that conditions are much easier on the skill lag (big guess), so this would be a great step towards leveling out the playing field.
Defensive stats are useful if you can avoid burst. They are in no way a replacement for mistakes.
or just 100g if youre not buying some stupid cat tag
Some ideas for ranger to be viable in a GvG:
Longbow automatically pierces up to 3 targets, #3 also leaps backwards by 600, #4 hits 3 targets in an arc, #5 buff damage
Separate the heal burst and the water field effects of Healing Spring, so a ranger can cast HS for their team to blast and use the burst heal 10sec later. Reduce duration/ recharge by 50%, tone down regen.
Spike trap should be a pulsing effect, 3-5 seconds. Increase radius of traps.
Buff the leap portion of greatsword #5 by 300, increase the daze to 3 sec stun to 2 sec, hits 3 targets
Axe auto should be buffed for power specs, #3 is an aoe hits 3 targets
Reduce recharge of warhorn #5 by 10sec, boon duration by 5 sec, #4 hits 3 targets
Basically I’m trying to make rangers the kings of aoe soft cc (cripple, chill) while giving them a damage boost, as well as more utility.
maybe there aren’t that many players in the pool to begin with, so the matchmaking system grabs players usually outside of its normal parameters.
just maybe.
its a good point man. where da teams at? like I commented on another thread, it would be interesting to see how a ranked 5v5 teamq only would play out. maybe give ranked much better rewards or just have unranked give none to encourage people teaming up. mobilize and organize!
The trouble about life stealing is that its innately overpowered: it’s a two-fer.
I get that, but unless you run MM it has little value.
The big picture is that there are few options for running “hybrid” builds. The reason hybrid is in quotes is because I think it is the closest thing to balance that a build can achieve. Currently there are very few incentives if none at all for someone to run a hybrid build. I don’t know if Anet had intended for each class to be type casted. I’ll take a stab in the dark and say that they didn’t, that the Control DPS Support mantra was meant to be an even spread. On some levels it was a success, on this particular mechanic it wasn’t. That’s all.
My WvW guild that has to occasionally reverse to save my kitten because I have no leap to keep pace can live with that.
As it stands, sustain is a bit less of an issue because Dhuumfire lets them straight-up beat most classes via burst. Post-nerf, I’m not sure how it’ll go.
I know exactly how you feel. I main necro in wvw and I can’t express how frustrating it is to die that way. Attrition through soft cc and siphons are supposed to be what the class is about.
A leap (or dhuumfire) can never be balanced for a 1v1 / wvw situation the way siphons can, i.e. siphons getting stronger the more enemies there are. Looking at the structure of a wvw guild and how it moves through combat, it is clear that there are frontliners and backliners. The flow of combat is based around which group of frontliners can outmaneuver one another to reach the squishy backline and take out their damage. Leaps, stability, and mass cleansing take away any disadvantage the backline has. So what then? As a backliner your only option is to blow through cooldowns until you get back into position.
That right there is the main reason that I want a buff to siphons. We have frontline tanks. I am convinced we need backline tanks. Necro is in a perfect position to be that, and siphons are the key. This would give the medium armor / glass cannon classes some leeway to fulfill their role.
hey badace gotta try this out, thanks.
now to get our minions gliders….
plus one
but only if summoned ai is invuln so we can farm like zombies.
Good.
/15character
GW2 will absolutely never become popular unless what is said above is done.
this is a perfect example of how not to present your ideas.
well dang.
/15dangs
just let the thread die
If you play eyes open you don’t need stability at all.
This. I never really seen the need for stability if I could bring stunbreaks and react when needed. On many classes I don’t struggle to find usable stunbreaks, and they often have options to spec them as condi clear making the skills uses twofold.
For me having stability always meant I didn’t need to use one of my stunbreaks skills upfront but I eventually would and would expect too.
I think to many people want this free ignore cc card. Which isnt what stability is supposed to be; it is a small brief grace period via buff, that can be stripped, corrupted, worn down instantly.
Maybe our outlook is a product of poor stability.
Sure you dont need stab if you spend 10 minutes bating ccs, or if youre a backliner and have no idea how crucial stability is, or if you happen to chain cc the enemy first in most encounters. Having a stunbreaker is not a replacement for stability. Im not sure how you could even think that. Dont get me wrong, the old stab was broken and I’m not here to defend it, but the current output (guardian) is pretty kitten poor. If you disagree I would like to here a counter argument. Saying “I’m so good I dont need stab” is not a counter argument, its chest thumping.
lol invocation with sage is useless. herald is probably your best bet because spamming the low cd ventari heal gives you a lot of prot uptime which is necessary for surviving power burst builds. every trait in herald is solid.
Hop onto another character…
What this person said. Easy solution.
what a great solution for something that has already happened.
the window is too small.
What stat amulet would work best for ele? Maybe if we can get enough support for one choice anet will add it next patch. Here is my best guess:
eles ammy
1050 power
1050 healing power
560 vitality
560 toughness
I see your necro, and raise you minions.
Is this a serious question? Who wants to spend their time standing still when there are good fights to be had? All for some lame stat increase? Are you kidding me?
dooo eeeet
maintain weakness, dodge true shot and pull, use soft cc when they charge you with sword/shield, corrupt their f3, cc their heal/f2. gotta have good reflexes to get anywhere in this game.
imo the necro meta is kinda sucky. I would go with pack runes and foot in the grave. having a stunbreak on reapers shroud will save your life countless times.
it should give more life force not do more damage.
swapping classes before the start of the match does nothing to solve the root of the problem.
When I first saw this thread I thought, oh great another cry thread. However, in all honesty, I was expecting a lot. I havent thought about this in so long I’m unsure how to start. Hmm. I suppose a list would help:
>Enjoyable, repeatable PvP. Competitive missions, alliance battles, not this one game mode crap that we got. I dont even understand the reasoning for not at least putting a couple of different game modes in.
>Build diversity, or at least not the minuscule amount of skills we got. One of my favorite things to do in GW1 was to create random builds and test them out. In GW1 this was made possible by the crazy amount of skills available and the 2nd profession mechanic. When I first looked at the skill panel on my first toon at level 2, I was pretty taken aback at how simplistic it was.
>I was expecting a way wider range of select able weapons. Not immersive? I could care less, really. This is one of the biggest ways to hurt your game, by taking away options from players.
>GvG. This was by far the biggest disappointment. This was one of the main reasons I bought GW2. Not only was it not supported, but was actively shunned or looked down upon by a lot of people. So sad. GvG made GW1 imo.
>Im not sure what I was expecting from WvW, but I do know that when I first saw it I was really excited. I still enjoy it, but now that I think about it, its kinda a big fat mess without the trinity system. I think WvW would work a lot better on a smaller scale.
>Immersive story, no cheese plot, interesting characters that CHANGE with the story (some major tv shows dont follow this basic concept). A system that doesnt rely on cutscenes to bring the story to the player, rather do this by different types of story missions, immediate decision making, quest items and requirements, etc. After a certain point on my first toon, I dunno maybe level 50ish, I just skipped everything and waited for the bad guys to show up so I could kill them. I liked the story in GW1, so I’m not biased against doing this sort of stuff. Dont get me wrong, I dont think the GW2 story was horrible even though thats probably how it sounds, just room for improvement is all. There werent many surprises in the GW2 storyline I think is what I’m getting at. In the first game events unravelled at a much slower pace so there was time to experience it, all of it. In GW2 it comes pretty apparent early on that you gotta get your buds together and save the world. In GW1 prophecies, that only became apparent at the last couple of missions when Rurik your main bud turned evil and you had to take him out. Much tear such wow.
>Diverse, repeatable and difficult PvE encounters. Seems like the only things to do in PvE land is to do world bosses and dungeons. Well, now its fractals and raids. Fractals are kinda fun, I havent done them nearly as much as some people, but I’m already bored. Raids look really fun, cant wait for those. In GW1, there was the story (repeatable, hard mode for a bigger challenge and title), FoW+UW, the hero system which made all of PvE so much better, Elona endgame missions (forget what they are lol didnt do them much), vanquishing (killing all the creatures in a map, all PvE maps were instanced), I’m sure I’m missing something just cant think of it. I was expecting the dungeons in GW2 to be way harder.
>Something that I wasnt expecting was the complete lack of good armor and weapon skins. Some of them are really awesome but out of my price range, but 75% of the armor skins out there look like trenchcoats, 1930s dresses, or big kitten ish metal pot helmet+trashcan lid sets.
>Another thing, a major thing I wasnt expecting, was that cool skill effects and graphics would replace content. I would much rather have toned down skill effects for more skills, less graphics for more PvE content (fractals, dungeons, world events). I dont understand how some other games (GW2 is by far the worst offender) rush to update their graphics system but completely forget to add certain things that originally made their game what it is now. Graphics are great, and very necessary, but cmon for petes sake dont abandon what made your game attractive in the first place.
Wow thats a wall of text, my first in a long while. Welp, I guess I’ll leave it at that. Have fun reading all that spew muahahaha! Nah jk, I did put thought and effort into this.
(edited by Stand The Wall.6987)
soulbeast gets 3 invulns, massive condi management and endurance regen, and great condi spam.
yeah theyre useless.
hypehypehypehypehypehypehypehypehypehypehypehype
Why?
It is just a balance patch, it ain’t that big of a deal. Or to be more precise it is better to be cautiously optimistic than overly hype.
bet youre the life of the party
Aoe destroys everything Ive been working towards. If only it didnt exist, people would recognize how good I am at clicking, and my time spent clicking would be validated by others who share my point of view.
there was the soldier/cele bunker meta, then hot came with massive power creep. both allowed casuals to be carried by builds. the rewards system, the solo/duo q only, the matchmaking system in the past that allowed people to grind into legend, the fact that the leaderboard wasn’t locked from new f2p accounts… why are you trying to say that gw2 pvp doesn’t cater to casuals lol?
yeah the wts never happened, the 250k prize pool was a sham, pro teams a myth… seriously what the hell. what planet are you on? if what you are trying to say is that the pvp scene isn’t up to par compared to other games, ofc that’s true. are you also saying that it cant be? if so then I don’t and wont share that surrender. I’m going to continue to post on these forums until they shut them down.
/chestthump
yes also if everyone had the same 4 skills pvp would be balanced
You-have-too-many-people de-buff. If you outnumber the opponent on a BL, you lose a % of your damage and/or health
I want you to realize how horrible an idea this is.
GW1: Fort Aspenwood
i would buy a cantha expansion just for this.
Vitality combats condition damage.
i think the whole point to condi damage is that it ignores armor.
there are so many basic things anet can do to every profession to make them +10000000% better, but continue to sit on their kitten. sometimes I actually hope that this game will just die so anet can move on and hopefully make something better.
I say make GvG 15v15 minimum with options to go to 20v20, 30v30, 40v40 and 50v50. Anything smaller would be like watching PvP which is one of the most boring face-slam-on-keyboard things to watch. Make objectives optional as well, add variance to them, i.e. 3 capturable points, 2 escort/ capture the flag, 1 based on total kills etc. per map. Make the biggest GvG map no bigger then 3x the biggest PvP map so there is action around every corner and so guilds wouldn’t have to spend 10 minutes running to find a fight. Do not add too many death by falling damage types, NPCs, siege, unfair terrain advantages (obviously some for both sides) etc. REMOVE sigil stacks, there is no reason for your enemy to have an advantage over you because your other team failed. It destroys fairness, balance, and all those good words. Guild Wars GvG should be about WAR, not 24/7 siegers, solo roamers, PPT people, or anything else not essential to large scale guild battles. The game already has those things covered for the people who care about them. I guarantee GvG has a lot more eSport potential then PvP. Why? Simple, it is a lot more entertaining and engaging to watch and be a part of. That is what draws more people into games. I think you guys have a pretty solid monopoly on the GvG idea, so why not capitalize on it.
Theres nothing lucky about landing an auto attack. Even if you only land the third hit twice on someone during a fight, its still going to have a big effect.
a while back when i was standing around in la someone pinged a polearm.
yay another extremely slow heal skill that can and will get interrupted at every opportunity.
visible mmrs positives outweigh the negatives? can you prove that or can we assume it to be the conjecture it is?
Yea these two skills are definitely on long cooldowns compared to their counterparts:

Yea mesmer definitely needs more control.
Riiiiiiiiiiight.
log in reward, multiple daily rewards + seasonal/event bonus, wvw rewards plus bonus, loads of useless loot from everywhere, salvaging for days….
its getting really tiresome. sometimes i feel like im drowning in loot. i need air!
i understand that some games dont reward much loot at all, and im sure there are plenty of people that like all the loot in this game, but it really gets to be too much for me sometimes.
this thread is basically a re-hash of something i read. anyone else feel the same way?
free content over the internet has spoiled everyone. one of the unforeseen due to progress.
so this guys argument is “no high enuf on ladderbord so no room to talk”
sounds like the average response from some 16yo gw2 player who thinks hes all that
