condi rangers are probably their best counters. I don’t think ive ever lost a 1v1 to a non-esport engie.
condi ranger is my least favourite thing to fight on my engineers. anything condi with a bit off cc should do the trick. condi bomb after healing turret and gg.

If you think having no cast time on traps that CC and are unblockable and essentially allow you to spam, you REALLY need to rethink how logical you really are.
only test of faith is unblockable (and you have to walk thru the ring of swords). daze doesn’t stop you from dodgerolling.
I main warrior not guard so try again Mr. Bad Thief Player Who Doesn’t Understand How PvP Works.
My advice totally works as I have zero issues with killing burn guards.
Even in coordinated team matches there will be emty points.
Guardian is the hard counter against thief, even before burning got buffed. Just accept that your main class is not all-powerful and has counters and move on. Either play a different class or accept that as a thief you’re gonna have to run from guardians in 1v1 siuations.

Yes I’m still sour about the Dragonhunter, I hate it in every single way, the name sucks, the new virtues suck, the utility skills suck, the traits suck and the longbow skills are “meh” at best. As someone who mains Guardian this really stings.
I actually main guardian and use a Sunrise (has more particle effects than Cobalt). I never had the issue Lord Trejgon or the OP describes.

This video is a load of bullkitten. 1, none of this is on points, you can avoid the traps all you want but the traps are still there besides Fragments which is still there giving him 5 stacks of Aegis. He says the daze is an identifier but never actually shows it once in the entire video. He only dodges the maw because he knows it’s coming, he doesn’t dodge the maw animation, he dodges any trap animation, good thing the DH wasn’t hitting him with his weapons at the same time or any allies at all on the map. He says melee pressure but hurrpy durrpy durrp the only problem is the weak kitten traps and daze spam and knockbacks at melee range. You go ranged and his weapon is better than the rest of the range weapons since True Shot has low cooldown compared to volleys, a projectile destroying attack every 10 seconds and more basic attack damage the rest of weapons besides 1k plus range Ranger LB that does around the same.
i feel like I understand why you complain on the forums all the time.

Condition damage in this game is way out of line and people know it, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that all these condi cheesers come crawling out of their corners desperately trying to defend it.

to the others, engaged in constructive discussion. i do have something to add.
please remember condi skills & cleanses in pvp are balanced around a team setting. it’s why we have builds like power shiro in the meta. because while some builds may be a free kill against condi builds, with a support backing them up they can become juggernauts.
having one – two players playing support is game changing when one has to fight condi builds. a support tempest combined with purge gyro, wings, & other group condi clears that common non support builds have is a tremendous amount of condi clear. it can oft make condi builds completely neutered in a teamfight setting. it’s why condi chrono prefers to 1v1, & it’s main utility in a teamfight is cc not a condi spike.
so, yes condi damage is dang high right now. but so is power damage. 10k+ hits are no strangers these days. heck, the new thief can hit for 30k+ with a single skill. damage is too high currently. but anets poor balancing decisions have snowballed leaving both damage & sustain far too overtuned. i feel the only way to return to a good equilibrium would be to have a full across the board rebalance. which ah, knowing anet, i doubt will ever happen.

dps/support escort for npcs, and 1 or 2 dps players on defense is all you need. with a healing shout warrior and good play you should be able to get through both doors with one of your first waves of doorbreakers, probably the first one. then just kill the lord. wvw builds are really good for the escort team.
also, you have the option of taking a mesmer so the team can channel 10 supply then portal back to make a 10 bomb dude wave faster than the other team. you wont want to bother with supply apart for the first 10, as you only need more npcs if your escort fails. game should be over before heroes spawn.

As has been stated numerous times, the people who desire 5 man are an extremely vocal minority. 5 man would benefit a microscopic group of players at the expense of legit everyone else.
The only way 5 man can ever be OK is if it was 100% impossible to be matched against anything other than other 5 mans. The moment 5 man is allowed to go up against solo queue is the moment matchmaking becomes completely broken.

if everyone complaining about their teammates actually formed teams instead of just whining, I’m betting we would have a ton of teams. however they do seem to prefer to cry and lose, so I do see your population issue.

Really big hits should have animation priority in big fights so you always see them coming, and all ranged one shots like this should have tells on the actual projectile as well imo (actually I think it does).

in regard to what you call ‘basic pvp’, which is i assume hotjoin (practice) i have two things to say.
firstly if you are in a party with your friend and he joins a game you can right click on their name to join them.
secondly, i would actually not recommend you play much hotjoin. it’s nice for warming up and build testing, but players swap sides all the time and often play for kills only (i will sit at spawn changing my build in hotjoin etc). unranked is a much better place to get real pvp practice, as opposed to soley mechanical practice.

if you are talking about Edge of the Mists, or EotM for short you need to be on wvw servers that are the same colour in wvw, then join a party to enter the same instance. if you are not in the same instance you can right click on your friends name in party to change to theirs. however if you are not the same colour you will be on opposing sides. the only way to solve that issue is to transfer to the same server, or to wait untill Saturday when the servers reset and colours change.

I’m enjoying BDO more. this game is getting old, and PvP and wvw are just getting worse.
the lustre has gone. pve is awful. combat is fun when playing PvP some of the time, but really is just AOE spam most of the time. pve combat and adventuring are terrible.
BDO is grand. in look and feel. combat is excellent.

like honestly, honest to god you are coming here complaining that you can’t counter a 60 second cooldown utility skill with an auto attack. just think about what you’re complaining about. tell me how it’s not asking for an easy win.
every other boon Warrior has is corruptible, noone uses balanced stance at all so that doesn’t matter. so it’s just zerker stance you can’t corrupt with your auto attacks. wow dude. you might have to kite. you might have to dodge. wow dude you might have to do more than spam auto for corrupt. perish the thought. there are buffs you have to play around, you can’t just corrupt everything with auto attacks.
your class is firmly in tournament meta. firmly. it’s almost a must pick.
you are on a must pick class complaining about a class that is not worth having in your team.
if you don’t understand how we find that hard to sympathize with then I don’t know what to tell you dude.

No those were the skills in order from the combatlog. If they have other skills that can hit that hard, then that seems pretty over the top.
that’s what the warrior’s elite skill rampage feels like when they run full dps. he doesn’t hit as hard out of rampage, but it’s close. 100b will be doing 10k+ etc. the elite is very telegraphed and the warrior has both a noticeable (and interruptible) animation when they transform and for the duration of the transformation. however the whole form is melee apart from one ranged attack (that is super telegraphed), so if you dodge the gap closers you can kite the form with ease.
i assume you are running something squishy yourself. currently damage is very high and eating combos from dps builds will get you killed very fast. either change your build or use your dodges better.
in regard to rampage, if im on engi ill moa it, stealth, invun, dodge, leap away, stack 9 burning (lol), or just dodge. on warrior ill block and kite, or counter rampage a teamate to even the fight.
You cannot interrupt rampage because of pulsing stab. Most of the time you cannot outrun rampage and you can only dodge 2 skills until the next one CC’s you. Eventually they will get their quickness proc and you will be permanently stunned. Basically if you’re a class without several invulns or blinks/ports, you have no counter play.
you can interrupt the cast of rampage. you only have to dodge the gap closers, not every attack. if your build has no mobility and no invuns or blocks then a change to your build seems in order. even necro has ports. outrunning rampage is not something i have a problem with on warr on engi. after the first use of skill 5 it cant be used again until the end of the transformation. rush has a big animation, you should be able to dodge that if you can dodge bulls charge (and if you cant then bullscharge quickness 100b will own you. the dude doesnt even need to use rampage). boulder has a huge windup and a slow projectile, its perhaps the easiest skill to dodge in the game. if you screw up and eat these skills without an invun or stunbreak, homes it’s over you goofed it.
but dude, you have to accept that sometimes you are out of cooldowns and will die.
Everyone would run cele if it was reintroduced. Have fun fighting cele warrior or cele reaper
would not run cele on warrior, it’s not worth. still other professions would use it.
Stop being newbs. I mean seriously l2p. DH are traps. Range them down and they die. Blow the traps with a pet or clone and don’t stand in it and they die. Rev built for DPS CAN NOT take a condi burst. They simply do not have the clearing for it. Not by a long shot. Hammer 1 is slow, clunky, and usually its the might stack that kills you. Think of Pew Pew ranger how do you counter them?
There will always be some build you all think is OP. How OP it is is not based on how hard it is for you to handle it but based on the skills you and your team have available to do so. DD ele was such a pain because it could handle most things that should counter it. The ones you mention now are susceptible to some hard counters. So it becomes the same old thing. Are you willing to counter it or wait for a nerf and a new target to complain about?
Often you guys get advice in these threads. Ignore it and continue the moan train all the while someone else went into the game applied it and started winning. The pattern is the same over and over yet most of you are still in the same spot doing the same thing and still can’t adapt. You have played enough pvp to get the title but truth is most of you are the same kitten guys you were 3 years ago with 0 growth. There will always be a meta start learning to adapt to it because the next nerf will not be the last. The game is constantly changing and you will never be satisfied because you never learn. go on beg for your nerfs and watch a new meta pop and another reason to type angrily into the key board.

Honestly, though, what do we expect from a game where people can win a 50k pvp tournament by being lucky enough to be the last hit on an npc?

I’d like to have more runes of the exclusive PvE/WvW runes available in pvp. defender runes and trapper runes would do big things for ranger and engineer. perplex would make berserk actually good in pvp.
I know a lot of them sound strong and BS, bit think about vamp runes, runes of the solder, holebrak etc. there are already a lot of strong runes, why not have a larger variety?
I’m in favor of more amulets, more runes and more sigils. I want to see huge build variety in the competitive scene, which requires multiple strong choices.

Whereas 67% of the people want SoloQ AND TeamQ in Season 6.

why it would surprise anyone that people want to play a 5 v 5 team game as a team is beyond me.
scrubs will always be easy to wreck. turret engi just let’s a scrub become more powerful than his fellow scrubs, because it’s the only AI Sentinel build that works. anyone loosing to turrets deserves it. ya’ ate the cc, played badly and lost. sure, the engi might have played badly too but that sentinel lets him make more mistakes. most players i see are running zerk builds that they can’t play very well, it’s no surprise they are qqing about a build with cc you have to dodge.
why do people think DH is tanky? it’s a medi Guardian with less medis and less invuns.
warrior needs baseline fast hands to make zerker an acceptable choice. zerking could use some tweaks too. no CD, or no duration, better burst skills just something. some kind of edge.

idk about kills. I had a game awhile back where i killed like 23 people and never died, but they were bad and i was stoned and playing like trash. so like, stats don’t mean much in a vacuum. like cool work on 20+ kills, but like ultimately it’s hard to judge without a video.

pay more attention the ring of fire and your condis and you might find you die less. literally one condi cleanse and a dodge roll will get you out of this mess.

Alright, so I’ve tried to just deal with this change without complaining, and I’ve done 65 skill challenges on 4 of my alts so far (of 12 characters minus my two 100%‘s), but if I still need 60 more skill points to get the new elite specialization on those 4 and 125 skill points on my other 6 characters, I think I’m going to be sick.
So far I’ve done 260 skill points out of 1250 needed to be back to where I was, and I’m completely exhausted. I’ve been doing this for about 5-6 hours, and the thought of putting 20-25 more hours (especially with classes I don’t like as much) of raw map completion grinding just to be back to where I started before this makes me shudder, not only for me but for everyone else who hasn’t even attempted this yet and especially for newer players who hardly know the maps, much less can map complete 10-15 of the areas without traits.
This should definitely be redone or removed. I’d even prefer the “go read a book” method that’s currently in place to having to continue this mind-melting work, and would further prefer the original system. My condolences to WvW’ers, this is much worse for you.
^ forcing this suffering on all players just so they can get their builds back will make people quit. It’s a long time to earn back what you just had pre patch. I have 10+ hours of skill challenges waiting for me, and u gotta say it’s making me question if gw2 is worth it.

ah, and like DIVA I support the removal of stealth from the game. it’s too strong tactically.
Not trying to downplay your advice Xyonon, but he asked for a build that would make his Axe/Axe effective. He’s playing Axe/Axe because it’s what he enjoys and brings fun to the game for him. The advice you gave goes against what he asked, since you suggested to not use Axe offhand.
Xyonon was just pointing out, rightly that Axe/Axe will never be effective, as skill #5 does less damage than just auto attacking. It’s always going to be suboptimal unless it’s patched.
if its solo, or small group- sword/sword LB is great for a condition or hybrid build. gear just depends on how tanky/hybrid you want to be. maces, shield, and hammer could be cool if you decide to go into the strength line. you can go into tactics for the longbow burning and shoutheals while running apothecary gear. there are a huge amount of options here.
the last time i played condi warr in wvw i ran s/s lb, full dire gear and krait runes. it’s very tanky, but just does condi. for hybrid sinister or rampagers gear with carrion or celestial accessories could be nice. i very much enjoy rampagers + celestial on my engineer.

that with Krait runes and a mix of sinister and carrion gear should work very well. high condi pressure and lots of crit chance from traits.

I dream of a retro server with no specialisations where i can play rifle engineer, but dude its a pipe dream. No hope
with a 30s cooldown & the ability to be cc’d & killed i cant see much use for it in teamfights. traiting stab for it is a waste of a trait, so that means you have to blind of stealth to secure it’s stomp. if it has like 5k HP classes like necro will just 1shot it from downstate. seems so worthless with that CD. we really should have been limited to one at a time tbh.
yeah, nice ‘balance’ will we see the gold cost of ascended reduced to make it available to new players too? you know, to make sure noobs don’t have lower stats.
Ascended armor and weapons were a much worse addition to WvW than stacks were. You earned your stacks through playing WvW, that’s why they belong there. Being able to craft higher stats is stupid.
^ boom. probably should have elaborated more, but that was my point. so, it’s fine to have higher stats in wvw through gold grind, but not from ranking up? yeah, we all know it’s because only one of those you can buy through gems.
here i give you, the Xzibit Guardian because i heard you like to spin. now you can spin to win while you spin to win. spinception.
seriously tho. GS is for AoE cleave that’s all. use the boon rip & pull when a downed happens. get those interrupts. then spin while you spin. spin away. the cleave is insane. it’s my go to build for DH. strong 1v1, strong teamfight. good build. thumbs up.
for the rest of the game, you know how it goes. use LB most of the time, GS for occasional mobility. both of your pulls work really well w the traps, which i should mention fill you full of might.
as far as variations go, swap Virtuous Solace for more condi clear if you feel you need it. i use both traits, but dang that bubble gives people a surprise. can be very funny. also, can totally push people out of your traps. so like, be careful dude.
Elementalist reached another SSS god level after this nerf.
It’s good nerf but u really need to do something with ele.
those who complain about d/d godmode must be the biggest scrubs. i see d/d ele go down in teamfights all the time, ah but maybe that’s because I’m an awful person who queues on TS and focuses targets. sure it’s pretty wild in a 1v1 if the ele is skilled, but ro- ro- rotate into a 2v1 and splat him down.
the nerf is good. these sigils were hitting for far too much.
Chaith proposed this idea on the red thread, I think it could be gold.
Function Gyro needs to be pillar for the identity of the Scrapper, what really sets apart a Scrapper from an Engineer. This is the class mechanic we get from the first minor trait, a parallel to Reaper’s Shroud, Celestial Avatar, Overload Attunement, Continuum Split, Dragonhunter Virtues, Legendary Dragon Stance, Primal Bursts.
Other than the Engineer, only the Thief’s third dodge bar doesn’t really alter the playstyle significantly.
Currently, the Scrapper defining minor trait reads this: “You gain access to the Function Gyro, which can finish a foe or revive an ally at range.”
What I would suggest is:
Function Gyro: Gain access to up to 3 non-combative Function Gyros which encircle you. Periodically construct a function Gyro every 60 seconds. Command a Function Gyro to join the fray to finish foes or revive allies. (20s CD).
Reworking Impact Savant, the last Minor, as well:
Impact Savant: Deal 4% more damage, and reduce the duration of incoming stuns by 10% for each encircling Function Gyro.
What this accomplishes is creates a system of Gyro management that Scrappers in all game modes would be able to manipulate to their benefit. PvE Scrappers would enjoy great uptime of a 4-12% damage modifier. Non PvE Scrappers would get help from a Function Gyro every 20 seconds if they managed production well, and didn’t deplete resources.
Best of all, it’d be a constantly present theme that adds a bit more substance to the Scrapper’s core class mechanic, keeping it closer to the same feel players had when watching the Scrapper in the HoT trailer.
I think this is the good one.
It makes the F-Gyros useful in all the game modes, adds a real new mechanic to play with, gives the Scrapper a truly distinctive aesthetic component, and can be implemented without Irenio’s team having to start from scratch.
Of course it should be tweaked and adjusted, but I think the core idea nails it: to accumulate automatically created, not-AI gyros, that the Scrapper needs to administrate correctly to gain passive bonus or to execute remote functions.

condi necro in wvw with access to dire gear +condi food looses to condi theif… asks fror reduced damage, which means with both builds using conditions they are actually asking for their own damage to be nerfed. OP wants to be nerfed.
