Really no Petrified Stump or Skritt stash for Home Instance.
First and foremost, thank you Anet for all the nice wonderful things you let us put in our HOME INSTANCES. Maybe one day we may get a petrified stump or a skritt stash to add. At present I feel like I just lost on the Guild Wars 2 Game Show, here is your consolation prize “20 Hungary Cats & 1 frog”
Once again Thank you ANET for the hard work in creating this wonderful game and building this awesome community.
Please keep up the good work
Byou the same notion, role players shouldn’t have to stop role playing just because it’s not 5o your taste either. Neither should they be put in a separate box.
Apart from the “getting their freak on” publicly they are not actually doing anything wrong.
Would having a dedicated role play channel really be that much of “put in a seprate box” in a negative view? It might make it easier to find RPers that want to RP. Like I said it would also kill off a little of the open joining RP if a random passerby wasn’t in the RP channel, but if they wanted to RP they would probably be there.
As someone who has RP’d when the mood hits me I really have no problem with it, at the same time I can see how some people might find the long walls of RP text tedious. There has to be a better option then turning off ALL emotes or blocking people.
Travelling between the TP pickup and crafting stations in DR, because it’s the least irritating setup in-game. I’m not sure where the RP folks are, but they’re still at it. I shouldn’t have to shut off both /emote and /say to avoid it.
That said, I don’t particularly care either way, given my own mindset, but there ought to be a limit on it for the sake of those who really don’t want to see it.
EDIT: Call it what you will, but they’re the same names that turn up all the time. People getting their freak on with their charr, debating the morality of Charr eating the other races, holding court while critiquing the fashion choices of those who pass by.
They’re there basically every evening between 8pm and 12am ET.

I don’t think anyone was asking them to stop – simply limit the range of the /emote and /me commands, since right now their range appears to be the entirety of the centre of DR.
Having a separate field would work as well, since then it would be an opt-in sort of function.
Personally, I don’t find them that offensive, but I can certainly see how 90% or more of this particular groups’ output, at the very least, violate the ToS, and would be off-putting for many.
Also, someone in the chat is reading this thread, since it got referenced in-game. Just because you can fit the quaggan there, doesn’t mean you should.

It’s not your horse in the race, so why are you there watching ?
This is always my stance when it comes to personal choices. You have several, use them.
While it is true people have some personal choices to where they go, that’s no excuse for inappropriate behavior or messages. Just because you can “choose” to do something doesn’t mean you should do it, or that it’s socially acceptable.
Would you consider it ok to sit around a restaurant and shout bigoted comments, profanity, or act out some ERP right then and there? At very minimum you would likely be asked to leave, for the later there are possibly other consequences.

yes I missed the necro GS (and engi magnetic bomb? you’re good if you effectively use that) no the problem isn’t just blockable or unblockable, it’s that it is too strong to just come with the package without having to give anything up. and no one is really running around with perma stabality unless you’re in the middle of a zergs front line
You forgot reaper greatsword pull.

Has anyone else had horrible return rates doing this recently, before anyone starts shouting its RNG, im aware of the RNG aspect of it, but tonight I just did 18 × 10 clover recipe, and I got 10 clovers.
That’s less than 10% return rate, that’s beyond bad RNG,
Can we please have a dedicated recipe for making clovers, every other mat for a legendary can be farmed bar these, yes I am aware that they where added to the GoB track, and you can get 2 from other tracks and a 7 from a few, but I still think we need a dedicated recipe for these.
Yes, this is true. If you find the content offensive, not because you don’t like any roleplaying, but because a certain segment of roleplaying is crossing the line into sexually-related content, abusive chat, truly “offensive” content in the standard definition of the word, then use the in-game report system, please, and the team will review.
How do we use the in game report system for /me?

I was never bothered by the content, just that I couldn’t read any /guild or /map chat due to the volumes of text spewing from a small fraction of the RPers.
This is the issue for me over what I see being said. I appreciate Penelope clarifying that not all RPers are inappropriate with what they say but boy, on NA we have some doozies who are; including some who don’t actually become explicit, but are… discomforting without being graphic. On my years on the internet, I have come across people who are serious about some incredibly explicit/inappropriate roleplaying and some who will do it in public, not just to troll. Whether the people I’ve seen doing it in NA DR are trolling or not is not for me to judge and the only people who will truly know are those people. Such is the nature of RPing, as I’m sure a lot of people are aware.
I’ve played my fair share of D&D over the years so honestly, I have no issue with roleplaying. Just having to change my chat options (which due to personal health reasons I can’t always remember to change back immediately) because of walls of text that are currently not supported properly by the game which interfere with what I and others are doing. The walls of text are where I think the ‘spam’ definition has some weight.
No one’s honestly saying RPers should gtho of DR (well, some people might really feel that way), just that we’d like ANet to give RPers proper integration into the game so they’re not so heavily ostracised or seen as a nuisance. The RP section being added to LFG was a great start but I think everyone can agree that there’s more that could and should be done for everyone to co-exist more harmoniously.
As for RP chat range, maybe that could be the same radius as Say chat? Also if people trolled RP chat, it’d be easier for GMs to understand the context of a report as it would be clear it was targeted harassment towards a group of players as they’d have to be typing in RP chat to do so, instead of trying to claim that they’re responding to someone else in the channels we have now. I don’t know, I don’t get why a channel dedicated to RP would be a bad thing as in my eyes it would actually give RPing more legitimacy than the current form of co-opting emotes with large walls of text, and could by extension clear up a lot of issues that people have with RPers.
Very helpful, and thank you so much for helping with these useful suggestions. I have my chat windows separated differently, but I think you setup is great, too!
The thing I want to emphasize is that rather than ostracizing someone or a group of players, why not look for a means to allow everyone to participate in our game on a level playing field? Rather than limiting, refine! Organize your UI and I believe you will see improvements in your experience on several levels.
On the other hand, if what some of the comments referenced above is happening in All Chat or in the wide range of emotes, then it should be reported, if only for a reality check by an impartial agent.

ERP can be reported. If it’s especially… graphic, then create a support ticket and include screenshots of the dialogue.
Other than that, I have emotes turned off in chat and so I never see any RP in DR, good, bad, vulgar, erotic, or other. I was never bothered by the content, just that I couldn’t read any /guild or /map chat due to the volumes of text spewing from a small fraction of the RPers.
Regardless, I’d love to see ANet consider the possibility of an /rp channel, especially because it would be opt-in rather than the current situation in which people need to block emotes and/or /say if they choose to avoid RP for whatever reasons (good or bad).
I beg you, make an RP channel, just for rp, that rp players can use, and spam to their hearts content,
“Spam”?
Using /say chat is not spam. Roleplayers have just as much right to use the /say channel for friendly, in-character chat as those players who like to use it for out of character chat. If it bothers you that much, just use a different channel and make new chat tabs that don’t have /say or /emotes ticked.
RP is NOT spam.
I looked at google for a definition of spam, I found this, quote, “irrelevant or unsolicited messages” – and that is exactly what most of that rp is to me, so I do define a lot of it as spam (particularly when it is repeated over and over again, for example, when someone is grinding on the lap of another).
You say “friendly, in-character chat”, I’m not talking about that, I’m talking about the spamming, the swearing, the abuse and the erp.
Everyone has a right to use the /me command and that is fine, what is not fine is spamming, and abuse.
the argument that people who dont do wont make the same gold is not a valid argument. no one has ever made insane profit from a majority of the maps. there is always 1 or 2 farm maps. nerf ab you will still have a farm map everyone will go there nothing will change.
Indeed… in this whole discussion, what amazes me most is that everyone is hating on AB multiloot, and no one is complaining about cleric farm :P That one throws rares at you like they’re candy, AND on top of that it adds stuff like lower level cloth and leather…
Funny how lower level cloth and leather prices haven’t seen a drop in months even after Ember Bay / Bloodstone Fen started rewarding them with their events. Either not enough people are there or the supply/demand are at such a good place that there is no issue.
probably because silver wastes already lowered them a ton. every think of that? or is ab your only devil?

However, the reason for the lower price today ultimately hurts those who don’t multiloot, because for the same effort they used to put in, they end up with less coin while those who do multiloot continue to rake it in.
I just can’t get aboard that argument. Silverwaste dropped the price of several item. Did that hurts people who didn’t do silverwaste??
Sure, SW farm had that effect too. Which is why it kept getting nerfed. First time happened within weeks of release (when they decreased the number of chests), and then they just kept introducing some minor and major tweaks over time (adjusting downward the chest drop rates, and chances of obtaining shovels from events). They kind of stopped doing that when Hot launched, but it was likely just because their focus shifted.
Apparently, Anet thought that SW was so good that it deserved the nerfs. AB multiloot is in many ways even more lucrative now. Think about it.
sw is still dropping the price of items to this very day. yet here you are complaining about ab.
There has always been a ‘best farm’ for years.
CoF1, Cursed Shore, QD/FG Champ Trains, Silverwastes, Dungeons, Fractal 40, Fractal 90 etc
The point is, if you’re trying to min max rewards every minute of game play you have then you’re going to have to forgo something because there’s always a best farm and not everything is rewarding in GW2 for the time spent.
My point doesn’t revolve around market destabilization but on gameplay itself. When the rewards from a single activity outshine those from other activities by such a large amount, it causes players to abandon other game types. The fact that ABML is so much more lucrative means that players will forego other parts of the game in order to farm gold at ABML. This is not a healthy mentality for the game and it needs to be brought in line by ANet asap
My point is that it hasn’t hurt the game, despite it being hugely popular for months. You can only multiloot for 20 minutes every couple of hours, unlike Silverwastes (which could be 24/7).
There’s no question it has changed markets and there’s no question it has changed people’s farming and playing habits. But that’s a far cry from establishing a reason for suggesting that anything needs to be done “soon” let alone “ASAP.”
Silverwastes has been around for years. The flood of ectos started mid-June. When did AB multi become the default answer to “how do I earn gold quick?” when asked here? What feature dropped then or paradigm shift in player behavior occurred then?
At the very least AB multi may even sold a few more copies of HoT.
RIP City of Heroes
Silverwastes chests train, and opening chest in a 53 char gives 3x, 5x more gold. But chests train is incredible boring. Silverwastes isnt time gated.
In AB theres some sort of coordination, so its no “easy content”, its fun at some point and is time-gated.
Because someone would have problems with that?
Because it invested heavily in ectos/handling high prices in marketing.
I was farming gold for Volcanus, and gave up AB,
contrary to what they say, no one is getting “rich” with it, the market corrected himself, with the price drop, only those won gold were the first farmers of AB.

I think bloodstone fen and embay bay give alot of rares from event completion. So combine silver wastes, AB, bloodstone fen and ember bay thats alot rares. I don’t think its Solely AB anymore. I haven’t done AB in months due to it gets boring.
ab is also failing like mad and having very few maps because everyone is moving to the new zone. inb4 “nerf ember bay pls”

I see more and more now on the forums everyone blaming the AB loot map, where I personally find it boring and do not par take in the new maps, people also have to realise that,
Anet changed the way new Legendarys are made, you no longer have to play the forge, I used to be a big forge players, and would have easily thrown in 1000+ rares a month into it, now all them same rares are being salvaged, even if I was getting a 75% return that’s still 750 ecto more into the game that before would have been lost into the forge, now take that across hundreds of players,
Anet should have ran the old/new system side by side, for those who want to craft let them craft for those who want to forge let them forge, by making it that its only craftable they are going to continue to see 1000’s of ecto per day enter the market, instead of being forged as rares/exoitcs.
This is mainly about the person itself…if he wants to represent one whole week(it was just numbers) a single guild, he could receive atleast 1 extra guild commendation and the guild gains lets say 50 favor or even less, just to say something meanignless
Some of you got scared because thought ‘’no, if something like this is added, my guild leader will force me or kick me if i dont represent’’ or ‘’i have alt guild for stash’’ etc
That is something totally out of the line, because here we are talking about all those, the many which represent the 100% of time ONE single guild because they are loyal, they want, they can, they decide to be like that and even like that they sometimes lose events because the schedule, even one miserable extra guild commendation (just to say something) it would be very nice…that is for us, not for you
And before you come here and say ‘’you decide to represent 1 always that is your problem, you shouldnt receive anything’’ i tell you again, that is because you arent like us, and you got scared of something bad might happen to you, which wont, and for start with it looks like you dont even care about represent, then that is your problem too, but for us, the others, it would be like very nice
I read your post, can you reward me now?
See how this might apply to the thread? “I repped a guild for a week, reward me!”
Glass is half full or half empty, what you may see as “scared”, we may see as entitled.
….. And Elementalist.

It may be mainly about the person itself, but it requires ANet to spend dev time and budget money to rework guilds to put this in. And for what? They’ve already said that they made it possible for accounts to have 5 guilds in order to have multiple groups of people to do specific content with. By putting in rewards that require a “lock in rep” for a week to get, they are reversing their policy of rep as you want with the best guild for what you want to do that day. This isn’t something that the community has been asking for and ANet putting it in would be reversal of their guild policies for the last 4 years.
ANet may give it to you.
So uh… what’s the difference between this and actually doing guild missions when representing the guild and getting all the boons from upgraded guild halls?
forced dependency on other people and their schedule.
Except that you can start guild missions any time you want and “forced dependancy on other people” is literally what an MMO is all about.
Whats do you want, remove all gameplay? Maybe Anet should just give us 100g every time we log on. Or a free legendary of choice every time we kill a champion mob. Because clearly its too much work to play the game.
Loyalty does not require bribes.
Guild rep rewards, when they existed, felt frustrating.
I think being able to rep one of any five guilds, or none, is nice.
Rep rewards competed with the system of being allowed multiple guilds.
And in my opinion the community feels less toxic now than back when we had them.
Again with the technical reasoning elsewhere you can give a non-technical reasoning when comes to courtesy. Isn’t that a double standard?
When come to individual, people can talk about principles and philosophies but when come to guild, all of those are threw aside, forgetting that guilds are run by people and therefore their principles and philosophies apply.
Perhaps you can explain what philosophical reasons a PvP only guild would have to require a person to rep when doing role play with his PvE guild? Doesn’t the PvE guild have any rights or claim to the person rep also if it’s so philosophically important?
Freedom, which a lot are using to argue about. Individuals have their freedom to choose what guilds to join, the people that runs those guilds have their freedom to decide their expectations for their guilds. Did those guilds take away their freedom to choose? Nope, the people who join decided that is best for them. Just because they (the guilds) are different from the so-called mainstream, do they deserved to be bullied? And yes, those who keep calling out others for not confining to certain way of doing things is really no different from school’s bullies and not only that, behaving in a way thinking it is heroic and right to do so, it is disgusting.
No one is bullying guilds that require full rep. They simply don’t want to have this put into the game through extra rewards when the devs explicitly designed the game for people to rep when they pleased. That’s why the game allows you to be a member of up to 5 different guilds, without restrictions on rep.
And yes, those who keep calling out others for not confining to certain way of doing things is really no different from school’s bullies and not only that, behaving in a way thinking it is heroic and right to do so, it is disgusting.
And by the way, that’s an interesting way to think of it. You’re saying that those who don’t want to be confined are bullies for saying so to those that want to confine them. It’s actually the other way around in life. People who want to confine those who want to be free are the bullies.
ANet may give it to you.
(edited by Just a flesh wound.3589)
The purpose of repping beyond with guild tag you display was removed for good reasons.
Readding a reason to require repping is just.. urgh.
Definitely don’t want anything to justify rep requirements again.
edit: the reduced WP incentive is nice. It benefits the individual, but doesn’t add incentive for rep requirements. More things like that would be awesome. – most of those got turned into tavern potions though – which easy access to is still decent incentive imo.
