Sounds more tedious than fun, and it doesn’t seem to add anything substantial.
Well, consider that the gods still have retainers, and the Elder Dragons have minions. Being super-powerful yourself doesn’t seem to be a barrier to wanting to have followers.
It’s worth noting that one of the themes in the instance in which Lazarus appeared was on the question of whether people can change. It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve seen a story where a villain returned to life, but the experience gave them a change of heart and they became a more morally grey character. Lazarus may genuinely have had a change of heart and have developed goals other than pure revenge. Letting a group that was clearly an enemy of the White Mantle live could have been an olive branch.
Alternatively, though, he could simply have some Machiavellian reason why it’s more useful for Dragon’s Watch to live. It’s possible that he’s been following the PC, Unseen, since his or her arrival in Bloodstone Fen and thus knows exactly who he or she is, and has decided that while the PC may be a thorn in his plans, the PC’s potential usefulness as a foil against the dragons outweighs the risks.
Regarding the raid, that is a valid point. If the development team wanted to justify fights in raids being more difficult than story-instance equivalents, they could say that it’s not actually canon that the Pact Commander was present, and the fights were that hard because it was just an elite Pact strike team rather than the Pact Commander being present.
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.
One, Lazarus doesn’t consider us, the PC, as inconsequential. If anything, he doesn’t consider us anything at all.
Way I see it, he needed to take control of his army of followers. Cadeucus was about to wrestle that control from him, to divert their resources to vie for the Krytan throne. See, the White Mantle had always been a theocracy; a religious-political coalition, governing Kryta. So, most of its components are both zealots, and politicians/government officials,. There are also the ones that are only religious fanatics, and on the other side of the spectrum, the ones with political ambitions. Cadeucus falls into that last category: he just wants the White Mantle political party to secure the throne for himself. He cares not about the resurrection of their god.
Since Cadeucus is their leader, it doesn’t matter if most of the WM is trying to revive Lazarus. The moment the Minister decides to invade, the WM will have to mobilize. This is made evident through Justiciar Bauer’s journal, where he has to work his superiors ambition into research on the Bloodstone; Bauer hopes for the magical research to allow him and his faction to bring Lazarus back, so he convinces Cadeucus to funnel resources into that, by pointing out the potential military applications of the Bloodstone weapons.
So, finally, why did he show himself?
Because Cadeucus was about to rally the WM into attacking Kryta (He was, after all, being shown the military capabilities of the Jade Constructs). Lazarus knew the majority of the WM would drop that and follow their god, if the “Unseen One” now showed himself. It would effectively make about 90% of their militants follow him, instead of their leader. And given that he believes the WM needs to be focused on something… other than the Kryta politics, he needed to assert that control.
Have in mind that Lazarus showing himself like that is akin to the Second Coming to these people.
In GW1, Ascension allowed changing your secondary profession.
This was mechanical though. In lore, it only allowed one the “Gift of True Sight” – seeing mursaat and spirits who hid themselves from mortals.
There’s also indication that mursaat may not be able to be invisible while attacking – we’ve never seen such at least.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
We’ve already got an answer to that. Ogden points out a couple different times, before we even start, that the process we underwent wouldn’t Ascend us.
Ah okay, must’ve missed that, but I didnt know for either way.
But its not like we needed ascension to see Mursaat when they voluntarily enter our world. Sail d’Alessio wasnt ascended at the time, either.
But I’m more curious about what means why Lazarus would voluntarily show himself. If he thinks of us as inconsequential, why would he bother showing himself. Now that he’s revealed his existence we can prove to be a minor or major annoyance to his works. unless he wants us to chase him and unentionally put things to motion in his favor.
We’ve already got an answer to that. Ogden points out a couple different times, before we even start, that the process we underwent wouldn’t Ascend us.
I’m not saying it as a fact, but we did follow the trials of ascension in the Living Story to get a mistflame to fight to the shadow of the dragon. It was a rushed version of the same trials, so it all depends on whether anet lets that count as true ascension or not
(edited by Amaimon.7823)
So Lazarus is back, the players aren’t Ascended or Weh No Su and he can appear invisible to us if we like. I imagine if we’re going to fight Lazarus, we’ll need to be able to see him all the time.
What this means is that we potentially need to Ascend. I am deeply concerned that such an important part of the lore, especially for human characters, will just be waved off by some device Taimi found or made in Rata Novice, or some ritual the Priory just HAPPENED to know about that can be conduct pretty much wherever. This is would not do justice to Ascension.
Please don’t just write this off with some Magitech crap. Yes, Asuran interventions DEFINITELY have a place, but not here. Please don’t do what I’m worried you’re going to do.
Now you get to enjoy the breaks from gw2 as they get longer while the times you actually play get shorter.
If you hate the people that play GW2 so much, why are you even still here?
Because playing the forums is more fun than the actual game, it’s why you are here too though your welcome to attempt to deny this. You CHOSE to comment on someone whose view differed from yours rather than play the game you enjoy even though their view has no bearing on yours. XD
I never said the current season/system was perfect. Indeed at this point for PvP it is horrid. My main point was the modes are usually good and rewards in themselves just for playing (when they are working great before anet tries to push them too hard on to EVERYONE by adding shiny shinies that can only be obtained there).
It’s not about whether the season is perfect or not. Had the original reward system stayed in place pvp would have been a even more desolate area. If you even take a moment to view the season you’ll see that the divisions are locked and you don’t even lose tiers until ruby… where is the risk? It’s reduced considerably because we know what would occur if there was any indications that players weren’t as good as they thought – thus most of this game is blob oriented.
What about the radiant set? You need to amass a big number of achievement points to get that set. I think it looks great, well what I have of it so far at least anyway (helm, shoulders, gloves and legs). Also only on heavy class that is, don’t care too much for it on light/medium.
So that is one example right there which is not a pure gold grind. Also from the sounds of things new weapon skins are coming with the next map which will be from pure drops, not gemstore. If this pays off for them this could easily be added for armours later on.
So what you are asking for Anet are aware of and I think they are starting to do. Now the question is, will it only be from “RNG” drops only (Invisible Shoes as an example and incoming map skins) or will they also extend this to other content that may be challenging such as raids is?
Oh and I would also like to respond to:
“but once you’ve exhausted every other possible method of playing the game, all that is left is a meta filled gold grind”
Rewarding gameplay does not always have to have cool shiny rewards to them. What about play modes within the game that are actually just fun to play? You know 2 such modes do exist already for some people. PvP and WvW.
Yes there are rewards for playing those modes but I think the vast number of people play them like I do – more for the fun. I mean after all look at FPS games, people play them for the pure fun of it. It’s only really recently they have been trying to add RPG elements to it by adding rewards and level ups.

I want armours and weapon skins that have a true challenge applied to them, and are so amazing that they overshadow the gemstores constant influx of weapon skins and outfits, i want to see somebody wearing armour and know they are incredible, the pve side of guildwars just does not have this, and once uv beaten any form of story, all thts left is the endless gold grind for more gemstore items in order to grind again.
You have missed a very important factor here. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Welcome to the true endgame.
Even if they were to increase the difficulty for some event, there would then just be a flood of complaints to lower it. The masses have no interest for difficulty. They’d rather put more effort in complaining for change then to put in effort to improve themselves as a player. Gemstore helps make up for the failure to entice free players to convert – don’t expect that to change anytime soon- sadly.
Now you get to enjoy the breaks from gw2 as they get longer while the times you actually play get shorter.
80 boost: how to change stats on armor?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

It’s meant to be a set of free armor to tide you over until you can afford to acquire your own. It’s not meant to save you time or money.
Hi, its default as power, toughness, vit.
I want it to change to zerk, nothing seems to be working.
thanks
As said above, you can’t. The level up gear is pvt stats only and can’t be changed (no exotic armour can change stats). It also can’t be salvaged or forged. I had to delete all mine and make new stats.
They give pvt for free as it is a safe option for getting to grips with either a new level 80 or for starting straight out into the jungle. It is designed that way so you can then go craft or buy the gear with the stats you want once you are up to speed.

You can’t. It can’t be salvaged or mystic forged either.
I would vote for an ascended bag instead. Having to confirm every time I vendor an ascended ring would be annoying and WOULD affect more people than just those who don’t pay attention. An ascended bag would actually be useful instead.
The only real solution for the problem is adding a confirmation dialog which would warn a player if he or she tries to sell an ascended weapon to a vendor. True, not many players (if any) would ever want to sell a 100g weapon for 1g but adding this option would prevent people from accidentally doing it.
My apologies if my response seems at all hardhearted but I believe that you are mistaken. The only real solution to the, “problem” (if it can be called that) is for players to pay attention to what they are doing in situations such as the one you describe. If someone can ignore or not pay attention to the color of the item they are selling they can just click through confirmation dialogue as well. I’ve seen people ask for it to be impossible to sell something because they shouldn’t be expected to read the confirmation dialogue box before clicking on <yes>.
My condolences for the setback you have experienced, but what we need, in my opinion, is not more hand holding but rather more personal accountability.
Again, my apologies if I have given offense, such was not my intention.
Invisible Bags and Safe Bags are your friends in this case, though I do think a popup on such rare items would be nice as a backup
“Beware he who would deny you access to information,
for in his heart he dreams himself your master.”
It sounds like it’d be worth your while to invest in an invisible bag – much cheaper than the cost of remaking a lost ascended item.
yes so they are wasting time for single player features, THIS IS A MMO, not a single player game
People forgot this
The term MMO does not imply everyone must play in a group all the time. It simply means there are a large amount of players in the same game world.
I still don’t understand why this was so difficult that it had to be shelved. Certainly they planned this before they started working on it and the collections are just script templates with a checklist of what items are needed to complete it? It should just involve making a skin, assigning stats and putting the item IDs required for the weapon on the list.

Ok I really need to ask this: in what universe is developing current events in core tyria and hot zones also, part of a single-player experience? Have you managed to solo bandits? Have you soloed bloodstone crazed foes? Have you soloed the leyline events?
yes so they are wasting time for single player features, THIS IS A MMO, not a single player game

That’s not a good argument against it. All MMO have things for single play, that is stuff you do without other people being able to help you progress. The hearts
are single play. The personal story is designed to be done by single players. Adventures are single play. A lot of MMOs have quests that are single play. So saying Legendaries shouldn’t be made for that reason ignores all the single play they have made and will make.

They are on hold untill some time in the future.
Not on hold. Indefinitely suspended.
That’s what I said, we are saying the same thing……

Hi all,
In the upcoming Spring 2016 Quarterly Update, we’ll launch the new legendary short bow, Chuka and Champawat. The team outdid themselves on this one. This new precursor journey takes you through a memorable experience inspired by a real-world story, and the bow you craft at the end is the perfect commemoration of that journey. I hope you all check it out.
Last year we talked about plans to gradually build out a second set of legendary weapons through live content updates. That’s a big responsibility. We have a team of six developers working on that, who could work on it for years to come.
As game director I have to make tough trade-offs. One thing I believe is that we have to focus on the core game first before taking on additional responsibilities. I wrote in the Guild Wars 2 Design Manifesto in 2010 that our vision was to create a living, dynamic world, where there’s always something to do. Let’s ensure we succeed on that front.
So, after shipping Chuka and Champawat, I’ve asked that we indefinitely suspend work on new legendary weapons. This team of developers will instead shift their efforts back to Living World style content, building new journeys and events for everyone to participate in.
I know this will be a controversial decision. I’ll hang out with you here on the forums for a little while today to discuss it. And I’m always available by email.

I personally will be upset if they start hyping another expansion before they start putting out new Legendary weapons and I bet a lot of others feel the same way.
You can be as upset as you want, but that’s the way it’s going to be.
You don’t know that. Losing customers over this is a very real possibility.
They currently have ~100 employees working on a new expansion pack. They currently have 0 working on legendary weapons.
Do the math.
Assignments can and do change, hence their suspension. Your ‘logic’ means nothing.
It took them 6 months to make a single Legendary Shortbow. The next expansion is intended to launch within 2 years. Do the math.

No you don’t. You get that chest if you managed to tag the octovine event. Otherwise you get nothing.
There is a chest that is a rewarded specifically for it. If you don’t do the event you don’t get said chest. I know this for a fact since I’ve done numerous maps that I haven’t done the event on.
The “end of Tarir chest” is a pop-up next to your minimap on the right hand side of the screen. It rewards keys, currency, rares? i don’t remember and certainly a lot of XP.
