Automatic deposit mats?

The problem with auto-deposit is that people tend to devalue stuff they don’t actually have to manipulate. I can’t tell you how many people misunderstand just how much coin they get from killing foes or how much of various other currencies that just accumulate — that’s all because that stuff goes directly into the wallet and people don’t notice.

I think Illconceived’s point regarding us humans and the nature of rewards is more true than most people realize.

It’s like Christmas… yes, you can receive an un-wrapped gift that your parents just hand to you across the breakfast table. BUT… wasn’t it so much more exciting when you set your alarm to 5am so that you could run down to the tree and pull apart the unnecessarily over-wrapped present?

The 1st scenario is more practical and convenient (esp when it comes to who packs away the tree in January/Febuary/March/… June O_o), but the 2nd feels a lot more rewarding.

Odd, I can deposit account-bound Materials. Perhaps, your client is in need of a -repair?

Of course, if you are referring to some materials that don’t have a slot in Material Storage, that would be something entirely different. But, those aren’t all account-bound, anyway.

Good luck.

Yeah and of course i forgot to mention that it should be a toggle and you were unable to figure it.

They could require a tutorial video, a quiz, retype the process verbatim and point to the toggle with big glowing arrows and people will still mess it up and blame Anet.

just give ppl 1 mystic coin/spirit shard/karma thingy for each bar of XP (254k XP) people in endgame could move on to legendaries easier, and acces would be significantly enriched. You would only need 58.6M XP for a legendary? guess that’s more of a way of dealing with it.

as a comparison the whole HoT mastery track is about 50M XP… if I am right

It would encourage doing events over pure farming and reward people no longer getting XP …. think about it.

Actually. there IS a way to get Mystic Clovers (Not coins, though) from just playing the game.

Yeah, too bad HoT legendaries require 250 extra mystic coins aside from those needed for Mystic Clovers, and those cannot be obtained by playing the game.

And btw, I’m not crafting any legendary atm, and I have 500+ MC sitting on my bank just in case. So I believe I’m being quite objective, and I still think there’s an issue with MCs.

Eh, I have said it once before. As long as the multiple account loophole exists then there should be an alternative way to get Mystic Coins. It’s also funny how both John and Chris don’t even mention this in their “analysis” posts whatsoever. Furthermore they don’t mention that F2P players can purchase Mystic Coins off the TP. Which creates a large sink for Mystic Coins. Due to F2P players not able to earn mystic coins through it’s main source: daily log in reward system. However at least they want people to purchase more accounts to get this rare commodity and just sit on it. As they usually promote this type of behavior till things really start to get out of hand. The company itself has this whole obsession for analytics, instead of doing actual work.

You’re just upset there’s an issue for you. And others, I am not singling you out. But it’s exactly the same as the guy who doesn’t have any leather and wants the devs to fix it. Same as the guy who doesn’t have laurels or orbs. There is an in-game way to get what you want, it’s the TP.

Its nothing like the guy who cant get leather or orbs, both of those items can be got in game very easily and you can get them easily by never going near the TP,

It seems those who are apposed to Anet looking into this may have a lot of gold sunk into Coins on the TP, and stand to lose gold if Anet step in.

But as you brought up the orbs, which are indeed needed for the new HoT Legendarys, people DID complain about them, (Amalgamated Gemstones) and Anet DID add more ways to get them, including recipes to make 10-25 at a time, I didn’t see any hate on the forums about that, yet people are hating on others for wanting Anet to step in to fix ( give us more ways to get ) Mystic Coins, how strange.

When I first brought this topic up 3 weeks ago, the price of coins rapidly dropped ( flippers scared maybe that Anet would do something ) Anet Dev Chris replied stating basically suck it up, and prices sky rocketed after that, as it was pretty much Anet giving the TP Flippers free reign on coin prices.

I also see this topic has hit reddit also, apparently coins hit 1G each today at some point, and the topic there already has like x5 as many replies.

How much of the spike is being caused by players now hording or even buying up MC as they enter the TP thus keeping supply low because they hear that MC prices are/will be going through the roof?

Essentially all of it. Nothing has moved demand in the past couple months, and consumption should be down from the price surge.
.

What about the new shortbow Legendary? Players who want it may be getting to the point where they are making Clovers of Random-mess for it.

And the legendary backpack for those that didn’t participate in season 1

They don’t need to be anything’ed, anet already said there is a good supply coming in. Just one guy is buying them all.
There is nothing stopping you buying them instead of that other guy, you just don’t seem to want to. Which is fine. The answer isn’t for anet to fix this tho, it’s for players to fix.
Imagine the issue only applies to you. You are saying “anet fix this for me”. Won’t happen. We have seen the same thing when people don’t have enough leather. Or laurels or orbs or whatever.

The merge just shows a mod has noticed a similar topic, nothing else.
If you need them go buy them. Or don’t. Still your choice.

Do you even bother to read other people’s arguments, or you’re just trolling?

1. This is not like leather or orbs. You can get them by playing the game
2. This is not like laurels, because there are alternative ways of getting everything sold by a laurel vendor.
3. How the hell can the players fix speculation, when speculators know how many MC’s there are in the market (TP stupidly shows it), but actual players don’t know how many MC’s there are in the game being hoarded?

You don’t want players to fix this, you want players to suck it up and buy them from speculators, which makes me think you’re a TP flipper.

No you should buy them whilst they’re 60 silver.
If you missed that window, you should buy them whilst they’re 85 silver.
If you miss that window.. well just pay 1 gold for them.

Why would you stop going for something? If you need 250 coins and you have zero, buy 250 coins.

Lol’d so hard at this. You’re clearly a TP flipper.

This has 2 possible fixes. Either ANet addresses the way Mystic Coins are obtained (by rewarding active gameplay), or they fix the Trading Post once and for all to get rid of speculators/flippers (for example by not letting you see the quantity available of each item at each price).

What’s stupid is that people who want to actively play the game are at the mercy of those who just play the Trading Post. And that’s ANet’s responsibility to fix, not the players.

@OP
Stop worrying about laurels, there’s nothing you can do to change the situation. They will accumulate at thier present rate regardless. What you can change is getting yourself into high level fractals. You will need to spend laurels and gold to get there but it’ll be a worthwhile effort in the long run. Plus if your goal is to raid, it’s the best way to practice your skills without actually raiding (not the raid mechanics, but more general skills like dps rotation, stacking, damage mitigation). And yes, it does take more than a month to get fully ascended from scratch.

I’m sure there’s someone in your guild who would be happy to show you the ropes.

It sure seems like a waste of a lot of gold i could be putting out for maxing out my magic find which is more useful in the long run in my opinion.

Well that’s your opinion and you’re wrong in mine. MF is a pretty meaningless stat now. You’re not wasting your gold, your using it.
Did I mention guild commendations can be used instead of laurels to get trinkets?

If you’ve only been playing for 2 months then welcome to how it is and was for everyone ever. When I started we didn’t even have ascended gear. Or laurels. In fact most of my toons spent most of their time naked because you had to pay for armour repairs and to WP and events only gave you a copper or two for completing them. I had to complete the whole world, almost naked, some of it uphill in the snow (my norn actually enjoyed that) to get a gift of exploration.

And if I stop for breath I can just point out, again, that you don’t even need ascended gear. I’ve been playing for coming on four years now and I have just (yesterday) completed one full set of ascended armour for my main. My main! Who trudged naked uphill in snow for me! (She’s a sylvari, doesn’t really feel the cold so you don’t need to feel too sorry for her).

If I could give you laurels I would, you end up with more than you need, or at least I have. I got all my rings and things from fractals. Low level ones. I’d suggest starting there and getting free gear and good rewards. Not like it was in my day. 1 copper / event! I did some of them still covered in the snow I’d recently just trudged naked through!

I’m going to take a wild stab in the dark and say ascended items cost you about 100 gold each. I’m sure someone has a better figure. If you aren’t anywhere near having 600 spare golds you shouldn’t be working towards ascended as your short-term goal, it’s just going to make you miserable.

I’d suggest you do fractals and the night run dungeons for now and continue reading.

  1. Join a training guild, work on levelling and just log in every day, and do the night run, and basic fractals upgrading as you go along. They pay ok money,
  2. The guild(s) you are member of should provide acces to guild missions and thus allow ascneded accsoires (12 guild commendations and 5 gold/ piece)
  3. Fractals should provide rings, pristine relics will buy you a ring in 2-4 days, If you’re lucky you havbe a suitable drop. (10 pristine relcis for one ring with basic stats at ascneded)
  4. Logging in should provide 55 laurels/28 days if you really need them 20-25 of which you’ll need fot your amulet, leaving you with ~70-65 laurels after 2 months for 6 recipe’s for armor and 8 more recipes for weapons. You can use the second acneded box for any choice you want to at this time; This takes care of the trinkets….
  5. Your (guild/pugged) dungeon runs will provide you with 10 gold/day
(CoF 1,2; SE1,3; AC S,1,2,3) ~1.5 hours, the dungeon tokens can buy you exotics, for runes, or globs of ecto, and t6 mats.
  6. Your (guild/pugged) Fractals will provide you with 3-8 gold/day (more at higher tier), and acces to agony infusions for higher level fractals allowing for possible lucky drops, you could be fractal lvl 75+ when you are done with the 56 days. (t1+(t2), daily) ~45 minutes
  7. Your daily will provide you with 2 gold / day
    Daily ~15 minutes
  • In 2.5 hours/day you can gain 20 gold easily
  • In 56 days this should be ~1120 gold.
  • This isn’t counting materials from drops.

  • This should be enough to level to 500 armorcraft and a weaponcraft:
It’ll also pay: -FULL ASCNEDED ARMOR & 2-3 WEAPONS-,

  • And you’ll still need to unlock other proffesions for ranged weapons or caster weapons (likely) unless you’re warrior or elementalist….
  • You could be ready for t3 maybe low t4 in this -same- time window and have your gear for raids… raising your level will give greeater rewars from fractals, but will take more time at lvl 50(+) you are running noticably slower then t1’s even though your party will likely put out more dmg.
  • You should have gotten a vial of mist essence by now allowing you to craft an ascneded backpack as well, this is pretty expensive, or you could start working towards a fractal backpack (and Ad Infinitum….) Your new gear should allow it.
  • Salvage of all blue/green and yellow dungeon- and fractal drops will provide good MF as well as a good base set of materials to work with. An additional suggestion would be to mine iron and platinum.

For some fast and effective mining I’d suggest;
Brisban Wildlands close to the gallowfields waypoint for your iron and
Mount Mealstrom close to criterion waypoint for platinum as starting points,
you shouldn’t forget to bring an axe as well…

Good luck.

P.S. You could also hardgrind SW for more cash, but you’ll only be able to press F in the raid, knowing to work in a team will be of greater value. you’ll learn more builds and classst in dungeons and fractals then running mindlessly in SW CF. Doing higher tier of fractals will teach you more then any other content, except maybe duo or solo dungeons. You’ll have a functional & Ascneded PvE geared character…

TL;DR;
If you want to get ascended armor, trinkets & weapons you farm night dungeons and t1 and later t2 (and maybe t3 fractals) for 56 days; 8 weeks and you should accomplish your goals, you should have farmed approx. 1120 gold. and you should have enough resources to buy trinkets and forge full ascneded gear. HF

23 lvl 80’s, 9 times map, 4ele, 4ncr, 3war, 3grd, 3rgr, 2thf, 2msm, 1eng, 1 rev.

should it be so long that it takes some people over a month to achieve.

We can’t control how slow some people are.

it keeps noobs from raiding therefore making a better experience.

It does? Wow, all those first people who had never done it before were stopped from raiding? I’d be outraged if that made any sense.

To get to my point is i want ascended armor to not require laurels, but instead some kindve fun challenge to complete with a party of five that rewards the recipes

You should have just made that the point of this thread. “anet give us more ways to get laurels or more ways to get ascended gear”. Not the party of five thing cos that would be weird if parties of four didn’t get the same rewards. And then people could have pointed out fractals and world bosses drop ascended gear and you can use guild commendations instead of laurels.

i drastically want this system to change for the better as many cannot experience some of the game without ascended.

I’m not seeing any drastic changes, just that you don’t have any laurels. Anyone can experience some of the game without ascended. I don’t think you mean this, you mean YOU don’t have the laurels to get the ascended gear you mistakenly believe you need to do raids. Join a training guild and try a raid in exotics, you might find after all this worry that you don’t even like raids and had wasted all the effort you spent on getting ascended gear you didn’t even need.

Okay before you guys start saying that ascended armor takes just the right amount of time Please dont get angry at the people who dont agree with you.

Heres my problem yes ascended armor should take time and defication but should it be so long that it takes some people over a month to achieve. And alot of the time getting it is just saving up the gold and laurels to get the recipes. Now the argument ive been hearing is that ascended armor should take time because it keeps noobs from raiding therefore making a better experience. My counterargument is that logging once a day to get dailies is not a increase or decrease in skill and in fact will let those noobs get to raiding easier. To get to my point is i want ascended armor to not require laurels, but instead some kindve fun challenge to complete with a party of five that rewards the recipes, and then requiring youto still make your own ascended gear. Now i know that laurels are the most valuable currency in the game and all, but i dont believe that logging in once a day to get my ascended armor is fun it feels stupid and grindy two things arena net tries their best to remove from the game.

Now i dont know if my idea is any better but i drastically want this system to change for the better as many cannot experience some of the game without ascended.

You said defication. teeheehee

I’d like to elaborate a bit. There’s a difference between smart movement and nonsense movement.

If you’ve ever watched woodenpotatoes’ videos, you’d notice that whenever he fights enemies he is constantly jigging and jukeing in place. This annoys me, because this is the wrong way to fight enemies. It is nonsense movement that accomplishes little to nothing.

Good points overall I’d just like to point something out about this in particular. I do the exact same thing and its due to raiding on an ele which generally means using Seaweed salad as your food buff. This buff gives you 10% increased damage if you are moving, hence the constant strafing. Once you get that muscle memory going to keep that buff up its a hard habit to break.

I choose which mob to attack from a tactical point of view so that I get the most dangerous ones out of the way first if there are several.

As an alternative to getting good, you can simply play a ranger or necromancer, the two easiest professions in the game. Rangers can effectively play turret style as their pet will tank for them and practically never die if you rotate tanks. Just having a pet can make a huge difference as not everything is directed at you, however, you may also never learn that that one attack can wreck you. A low defense profession can easily be destroyed by the jump shot of a veteran shadow leaper, the slap of a blade dancer, the assault of a veteran smokescale, the leap spam of a devastator or the faceroll of an ancient golem. All of those can however be skipped for the most part.

The super casuals will never get good. They’re only playing for fun and if it’s too difficult, they’ll simply quit. Surely there’s a reason why almost every MMO is faceroll when it comes to solo content. Personally, the casuals I know that only play solo could barely manage Orr, couldn’t finish season 2, haven’t touched HoT and are going back to WoW.

Smart movements are movements that accomplish things.

#1: Approach an enemy so you can attack them with melee. It is safest to attack most enemies from behind, as their attacks are cone effects that face forward. If an enemy abruptly turns to you, it is about to punch you.

#2: Walk out of the way of large telegraphs. You don’t necessarily need to dodge, as many moves are slow enough that a light jog will get you to safety. A mild strafe or running through the enemy model is usually enough to guarantee safety.

#3: Juking is a technique, but it is only useful in select situations. Against certain ranged enemies with slow moving projectiles, wiggling back and forth in place will cause their arrows to miss. This works because the arrows fire to your projected path will be when they hit, and not to where you currently are. You can use this technique intelligently, such as against a siege devourer. When you see the animation for a big ranged attack, walk in one direction until it fires, then quickly snap back. The attack will now fly safely by you.

#4: Don’t stand in fire. This references damage patches that many enemies lay out. If you see a patch coming your way, get out of the way.

#5: Try to avoid drawing aggro. The enemies in hot are designed to be decently challenging in small groups. In large groups, they are much more deadly. It is beneficial to avoid biting off more than you can chew. If necessary, open with ranged attacks to get an enemy’s attention, then when it comes close you clobber it with a sword.

#6: Kiting is a thing. Some enemies will destroy you in melee, so to avoid being wrecked, be sure to run in circles. Not small circles: you have to be largely moving away from a melee attack to avoid a melee attack.

I don’t have opinions. I only have facts I can’t adequately prove.

Enemy major attacks have tells… generally in the form of huge red circles that appear before they land. The only attacks that don’t show are auto attacks like the tiny pocket raptors who jump at you, hit you, and run away, rinse repeat.

Yeah, it’s things like that (and the dart shooting frogs) that aren’t necessarily easy to avoid by simply moving (not dodging).

Even these had tells: their animations let you know there will be an attack.

Evades are only 2 because they are a resource, like the hp. This way the game keep the players on their toes during combat.

There is also all the specific options Razor describes, AND movement skills wich let you disengage when needed.

The answer depends on your class and your playstyle.

Not sure how, the question seems to be “what is best to survive a dart-shooting frog whilst foraging”.

I think if anything, class and playstyle have WAY more to do with that question than the stats on your gear does.

I still don’t know how. If I’m literally gathering when a frog attacks me, it doesn’t matter if I normally play bunker engineer or flag waving taunt master in a raid.

Exactly … that’s not a gear, stats or setup issue. Gathering with a frog attacking you is a playstyle issue. That’s a risk-taking playstyle.

I was in Verdant Brink one day to try to get Daily foraging done, when I was absolutely slaughtered by a dart-shooting frog.

Would high toughness have saved you between gathers, would high vitality have saved you? Would it be better to say “you should forage on a minion necro” and then “forage on a vipers necro” rather than a warrior or “play what you want but trait that auto-blocking shield thing”.

I suspect you can’t really passive tank with impunity but there must be a build that qualifies for the “most survivable in PvE award”.

In a game where the design goes out of its way to prevent power creep, you have to realize that at a certain point new foods, gear stats, etc. will eventually just stop having utility.

In theory they’re all supposed to be side grades of one another, but in practice there will always be a single mechanical “best” for a given purpose.

After three and a half years, it’s a miracle they can still create stat combos and buffs that people want at all, given the way stat progression is designed.
