^it doesnt cost way too much. ascended was introduced because exotic was too easy to get
Exotics were exactly as hard to get as original design warranted (casuals being able to get them as soon as they get to level 80).
…well, maybe they were even a bit harder than original design warranted.
Besides, there is a difference between somewhat harder to get, and much, much, much, much harder to get. Anet is simply very bad at finetuning, they tend to use the bigger hammer approach and overshoot their target by a mile. This happened to ascended. This (again) happened to Teq now.
Yes, Ascended cost way too much.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
It isn’t just BG, it’s all large servers. I’m on JQ and i’ve been in overflow for 2 hours, and we haven’t even come close to winning yet.
/sarcasm
Seems that a lot of people are guesting to BG just because we beat him (first), and it’s rather annoying to me that, as a Blackgate member, I’m always stuck in the overflow.
Sorry, but I really think something needs to be done about this; it’s bad for both Blackgate and their original server. Tequatl doesn’t need a nerf, other servers just actually need to work together and stop server jumping just to improve your chances.
Suggestion: Make world boss rewards unavailable unless you complete it on your server.
I don’t want to be stuck in overflow with a lower population, mostly made up of afkers and people who plain just don’t listen (and sit on the floor dead), while people from other servers are taking up spots to “leech” off of our success/coordination instead of working to help their own server.
Edit: I just want to make it clear that in no way am I trying to be mean, it’s just frustrating as a member of Blackgate that I can’t even play with my own server because other people don’t want to play with theirs.

In time, people will be downing him regularly. You don’t want to make ascended crafting invalidated.
Why not? It’s kittening horrible.
Read this before Posting
You have a 25% – 50% -75% – 100% chance to get a Random Chest.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ascended_chest
25% / 17 = 1.47% Chance to get the chest you want.
50% / 17 = 2.9% Chance to get the chest you want.
75% / 17 = 4.4% Chance to get the chest you want.
100% / 17 = 5.8% Chance to get the chest you want.
The numbers are actually quite low if you take into the account the RNG, CRAFTING WILL STILL BE THE BEST WAY… by a long shot.
I feel that currently, I like the hardness of the fight. However right now the fight is just not worth the risk. You heard me right, the fight is just pointless, soon nobody will do this unless its nerfed to the ground.
Why? It has the same horrible drop-rate as it did before, and its only 100 times harder. I will just do other easier world events.
What should you do about it?
First of all, make the kill REWARDING…
75% Health
25% Chance to drop a random Ascended Weapon Chest. (of any stats.)
8% Chance to drop the special new Tequatl Weapon skins.
50% Health
50% Chance to drop a random Ascended Weapon Chest. (of any stats.)
16% Chance to drop the special new Tequatl Weapon skins.
25% Health
75% Chance to drop a random Ascended Weapon Chest. (of any stats.)
25% Chance to drop the special new Tequatl Weapon skins.
0%, You successfully downed him.
100% Chance to drop a random Ascended Weapon Chest. (of any stats.)
33% Chance to drop the special new Tequatl Weapon skins.
This would make the fight MUCH more rewarding, you still have a chance to get a Random Box however since the box is random you still have incentive to keep killing him, it is just not such a LOW chance that its not worth doing.
Currently..
I have no incentive to do this, I have the scales/ore from the last update and I would rather make my legendary or craft one then do this, its simply NOT WORTH MY TIME.

Now if only the players could get out of their #1 spamming habits.
I can’t wait until all bosses get reworked.
If players quit this game because of the difficulty increase of “endgame” content then shame on them.
Some players wanted raids. Some players wanted more interaction on boss fights. Tequatl is now basically an open world Raid. Should it be this difficult? Yes. Should there be a timer? No. The cost for death is good enough for this boss encounter.
I believe Anet is on the right track here. Tequatl is not perfect, but hey its an online game and there are things called patches.
This credit issue is a big problem and becoming a plague for Anet’s ‘new trinity’. Why be a SUPPORT if you will never get rewarded for it? Fail.
People on the turrets are not getting chest drops. What is the point and why shouldn’t we troll those who would get it?
Because censorship is the most important part of the MMO business.
Or do what I’m doing. Guest on Black gate, stay in Sparkfly and wait for travel
Please don’t, it makes it impossible for players in Blackgate (you know, people actually from that server) to get into the main instance.
I have to admit I’m disappointed in you BG. You used TS to coordinate the teq fight. All the other servers are pugging it like how it was ment to be played. BG may have been the first to beat him, but having the coordination over TS is an unfair advantage over other servers who can’t get so many people in a voice chat. Beat the event with pugs like how all the other servers are playing it and how it was designed to be played and then I’d consider it the actual world first.
Can’t tell if serious.
I understand the sentiment. If the content cannot be beat by a team without voice comms and without requiring consumable buffs, then I think it’s too difficult for an open-world encounter IMHO.
Main: Caeimhe – Sylvari Ranger
Alts: Charr Guardian, Asura Elementalist, Human Thief, Norn Necromancer

So far the only way to beat teq is quite ridiculous. You have to get +100 people together, organized.
Now, the problem isn’t that 100 people is a lot, it’s not. The problem is to not get into an overflow and not to have spots taken by non-organized people. Basically you have to join the zone 1 or 2 hours before teq spawns to be able to participate.
So any casual player will never be able to beat teq in it’s current state unless you get extremely lucky.
I will tell you what is happening. People on high population servers have no issues. People on low/mid population servers have no chance unless we get help.
It’s already been pointed out to you guys enough, there are no low pop servers. There is only high, and very high. So stop posting such nonsense, we all know every server has queues on every map. You can lie and say it’s not true, but no one will believe you because we can all guest to bg/tc and see there are people playing the game.
/sarcasm
Seriously they need to do merges already.
By guesting on high population servers.
And all the overflow kills were done by entire guilds swarming to one overflow.
Nice try though.
These worlds are typically being beaten by concentrated organized guilds. I find it highly unlikely the servers themselves are doing it alone. I can be most of them are being assisted by BG and the TKS guild.
Anet’s thing on so many worlds winning is a bit skewed.
The sooner you (and others) realize that GW2 is a game about personal discovery, exploration, and astounding in game revelations, rather than a farm train, the sooner you will be satisfied with the content and its presentation.
Does it matter what server you beat him on? Guesting is free I think.
Guesting is intended if you f.e. wanted to play/meet-up with your friends from different server, encouraging guesting, to be able to complete the raid is a horrible practice – highly populated servers become even more populated and low pop servers turn into deserts, I will not guest out of sheer principle.
Why did they even have condition builds in the game if they werent going to be viable for almost anything?
Because sPvP. They’re viable there.
Lol yes I know they are viable and currently powerful in pvp. I should have been more specific I was just referring to PvE. Also, Spvp is a joke right now, no one takes it seriously.
condition damage has needed a buff since the first day this game came out.
Obviously they don’t feel the need to improve a largely broken aspect of their game, then again they keep breaking it even more by adding in more ascended gear and this new ridiculous raid-boss that belongs in a dungeon and not as a public event.
They are full of fail at the moment and it’s really angering me on why they keep messing the game up, and not fixing it.
People have been asking for condition damage buffs and precursor crafting within the first month of the game yet look how far its gone without a fix.
This issue really deserves a lot of attention. This problem has persisted in PVE for long enough.
They already address that they can’t increase the condition cap because of the limitation of their servers.
Dpsing teq is purely power builds at the moment.
Then don’t put conditions into your game. If your servers can’t handle a type of combat, don’t implement it in the first place.
It’s the same with ranger pets. They are almost useless for DPSing Tequatl.
This is killing build variety for high-end PvE content. You could go with CDmg and be useless in some situations, or you can just zerk and not worry. At least make it so a part of the CDmg you would’ve dealt is dealt directly to PvE mobs when the stacks are full.
Structures being immune to conditions is still the most head-scratching thing ever…
Especially now there’s the “structural weakness” debuff in WvW.
Just make poison/weakness/vulnerability apply that in the PvE world please.
Though condition users will always be welcome defending my turrets
Biggest problem with the game for me by far. I hate how this game handles conditions. It honestly feels like Anet doesn’t even acknowledge their existence. It’s ridiculous.
Since this forum is being archived, we are moving the discussion to the main forums: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Condition-Catastrophe/
With the implementation of genuinely difficult content, the neglect of condition builds has hit a breaking point. The Tequatl fight perfectly signifies this in two major ways:
1. Bleed cap is hit almost instantly. I am lucky if I can sustain one or two bleeds throughout the fight.
2. The fingers are completely immune to conditions.
Even against the adds, bleeds are usually close to capped or capped. Admittedly, condition builds do perform better on adds than they do on Tequatl and fingers, but the problem is the same discrimination doesn’t apply to power builds in reverse (i.e., power builds aren’t strong against Tequatl and fingers but weak against other adds).
This just can’t stand anymore. An entire build archetype is effectively useless on world bosses. There is simply no way the bleed cap and content that’s designed for 80 players can coexist.

Yeah i was thinking the same, it’s “open world” content for the devs on their spreadsheet so they could pat themselves on the shoulder and be proud about no one is left outside by bad elitist guilds. Meanwhile in their game its basicly a giant raidinstance, but you cant choose your instance or wait ages for your homeinstance. This happens when devs dont play their own game, instead their doing some fancy powerpoint presentations to impress their managers who also never play the game. You just have to do the Claw of Jormag fight several times to realize it’s impossible to balance bossfights for such zergs. Jormag fight isnt bad, but it’s not challenging and just tedious and Tequatl will be the same after they nerfed him to the ground so nearly every overflow can beat him.
What did you get as a reward?
A rare and 100 Dragonite Ore.
Is that really all?
I can’t believe how much history I missed on my home server just now because of a game update, an overflow system and a guest system working together to make my position on the map impossible.
