SAB Skins. Weekend players need not apply?

Time gating should’ve never been brought into the Super Adventure Box, or anywhere in this game, but here we are… looks like I’ll have to buy the skins I want this time.
Health potion "upgrade" is a downgrade...
in Super Adventure Box: Back to School

I’m loving the SAB thus far, but I am rather annoyed with the health potion “upgrade.” When I saw that there was a 300 bauble item that would make my health potions twice as effective, I jumped at the chance to get it. Little did I know that it would make my health potions cost 25 baubles instead of 5.
Why exactly would I want to be paying 25 baubles per two heart health potion when I could’ve paid 10 baubles for two hearts with the one heart potion? I understand it might be more convenient in combat (less potions to chug), but I honestly feel ripped off. It’s cheaper for me to buy extra lives (20 baubles) than it is to buy a health potion. Please rebalance this. I’d be fine even if the two heart potions cost 10 baubles (same price as before, just less things to chug), but 25 is crazy. As it is, it’s easier and cheaper to just let myself die than try to heal (was not the case with the 1 heart potions).
Ordinarily I wouldn’t bother posting such things in the forums, but Josh Foreman is a champ and I have faith that he’ll fix it.
I think it’s 4 per zone, correct me if I’m wrong.
2-1:
After the raft part, pretty obvious.
At tribulation cloud, also obvious.
From that shop back over the river to the geyser, hidden shop with the flute song.
Big waterfall where you climb up, be on the 2nd highest platform and bomb the very edge of the waterfall.
2-2:
Jump on the mountain at the shortcut eagle
Hole in wall at mountains with 2 flowers in a row.
Bomb the ground before the jumps over stilts over to gong tower.
Shop below gong tower with nunchuks.
2-3:
Obvious one with torch.
After first checkpoint, drop down and to the left, bomb wall (bigger wallet in there).
Last two are at checkpoint in fog, run back, turn left over a series of clouds and play flute song 2 at mouth. Bomb walls for shop on the left, elite skill in the middle (which apparently counts as shop) and deathtrap on the right.

I would like Connoisseur of Pain to be the title :P
I dont think Anet would add that many titles, but maybe a meta that gives you a title?

If you died thousand times it’s not that easy now is it.
But congrats anyway

There was no guide when we did it. We triggered about every trap to find the right way, so the death count is probably in the thousands.
Please modify your thread title then… death count in the thousands and ‘it was too easy’ sounds very silly!
But gratz on beating the difficult content, good job!! But difficulty level is still there, as you can tell from all the other threads, and if you don’t fix your thread title, I’ll take it as you meaning to troll everyone with a little “nyeah nyeah, i did it and you can’t”

Congrats. I’ll keep that in mind when I put together TM for the next world.
When will people learn… You NEVER taunt the DM/developer. :P

You can get 7 bauble bubbles per day in like 30min by replaying world 1. I dont see how you can fail getting 34 in several weeks.
Tribulation Mode is not very hard mode. It’s “Surprise You’re Dead for NO Apparent Reason Mode”.
Players want a challenge they at least have a chance of avoiding based on skill. But Tribulation Mode is only trial and error until you learn where the hidden traps are.
Why not use something like the gambit system from Crown Pavilion.
*one heart gambit
*no continues gambitI’m not saying Tribulation Mode shouldn’t exist. But it isn’t hard based on skill.
Tribulation mode is based on Torture Platformers like I Wanna be the Guy or Kazio Mario. Those games are entirely rooted in trial and error, the real skill tested is patience and resolve.

The huge ramp in difficulty, most of it artificial (lag sensitive platforms, overly precise jumps, horrific and unusable camera angles, being catapulted back to the section start for a missing jumps, etc.) just sucked any and all fun of this.
I probably won’t be touching SAB World 2 until the difficulty is brought back in line to “playable”, as it stands, it’s insanely frustrating.

I believe the ramp-up in difficulty has something to do with the Infinite Continue Coin in the gem shop.

So, thanks for having me waste my day off yesterday working on finishing most of the monthly. What a complete and utter waste of my holiday.
You guys should just start selling toilet seats that can be used as helms in the gem store if you are going to continue to use us to relieve yourselves on.
Seriously, if this can’t be resolved in-game for technical reasons, then compensation is in order for the affected players. Mail them the karma and the other rewards to make up for this and then people will call it square. The notion that we just have to “deal with it” is unacceptable, and totally uncharacteristic for an otherwise helpful and customer-driven company like ArenaNet.
Unfortunately that’s the Internet for you. People think they’re entitled to everything and that they’re always right. For some reason logic goes out the window. Also people are generally going to be more vocal if they are displeased about something rather than if they’re satisfied.
Although 99% of posts here are negative/flame wars it doesn’t represent the overall population. I doubt the 990k+ likes on Facebook were 980k angry customers. I for one am more than happy with the game and have no issues spending $10-15 a month in the gem store.
I kind of realize that no matter what the birthday present was, a few people would come here and complain about it.
That said, I think there is some legitimate reason for people to feel disappointed.
I think this was pretty darn underwhelming, and as usual for GW2, doesn’t appear to have been well thought out. I hope you do better next year. This first birthday just didn’t feel special at all.
So, I’m not trying to complain about getting free stuff – I’m just pointing out that this event didn’t feel remotely special.
1) All characters get the same mini. So no reason to trade/mix/match. In fact, you wind up with several extras that you just have to trash, and that’s never a good thing when it’s a birthday present.
2) Level 20 scrolls. Sort of useful. Likely not so useful on a character that’s a year old already, though.
3) The buffs. Fun, but a one-use thing.
4) Not every character is getting them. It appears to be bugged.
Maybe year 2 will be better thought out and implemented. At the moment, however, I’m not seeing any reason to keep alts around…

I am grateful that I was given something nice for free for doing absolutely nothing at all. Thanks Anet!

Should have been 1 or 2 gold a day since you registered your account/game when you purchased it. Simple and easy to administer. If you had the game for year—sweet!! If you’ve had the game for 10 days—still sweet.
Yeah, let’s just massively inflate the gold by injecting it into the game manually as an anniversary gift lol.
The lvl 20 scroll really needs to just be +20 levels.
Would even be useful for lvl 80 then too, +20 skill points.
I wanna use it to level my alt but it’s useless..
Just another way for them to get a money sink out of people that missed it..Greedy Anet is all i think it boils down to.
Considering all the people who have made posts asking for these limited time items to come back. It’s not considered greedy for a business to give customers what they want and someone who thinks so doesn’t have a sound grasp of basic business practices.
Its really bothering me how I need to buy multiple picks (about 2400 gems worth) to have it on my level 80s when it could be account bound. Arenanet, please make molten alliance picks account bound. Its bothering me how its soulbound when tons of other gem store items are account bound that are much cheaper
There are a at least a few expensive items that are soulbound on equip—one example, being the Infinite Gathering Tools. I can see the reason behind not making these items account-bound, but I think there should be a way to switch these items to new characters.
Introducing an “Unbind” Stone would solve this dilemma. The stone would revert all items to their previous unbound state, plus add a default “accountbound” property to prevent selling of used items.
It’s my guess that new themes of the infinite gathering tools will be released at some point in the future, so all the more reason people should be able to unbind the tools.
I am highly disappointed in the Gauntlet, no not for me since i got all classes to do it, but for players who have actually only one class…. they will never get all achievements, because its impoissible to do so, without spending gold for extra sigils runes or w/e.
What if these players don’t have it? I just think it’s a very bad move for these.
I haven’t fought a boss this challenging in a game, that you can actually beat, in years.
Why do precursor drops always reward the terrible players <__<

Update 8/6/2013: All CoF Warriors have “Dodge” functionality added to their characters, enabling them to not fail in CoE runs. Functionality in Caudecus Manor still disabled, do not attempt.
The point of fractals is to create an elusive long-term goal to keep suckers like me occupied with the game and grind for that complete fractal weapon skin set, until months afterwards they realize they have long stopped enjoy playing gw2, and their logging in and completing dailies are just habit.
The point of level 80 fractals is to create a bragging right, besides a few others like solo-ing x boss/dungeon, for those who want to lord over the plebs in this game of everything being equal. You can win almost any kitten measuring contest and make legendary-wielders feel as common as dirt just by mentioning you have fractal personal level 80/having done volcanic shaman 79 multiple times.
Oh and btw I have fractal personal 80 and have done shaman 79 multiple times.
These achievements are arguably worth the 50 in terms of time investment to achieve them. Honestly, they could even be worth more and it’d be fine; getting 50/50 HoM points is a serious accomplishment.
And for the record, anyone can still get them, just go hop over to GW1 and work on the HoM.
