It seems there was a recent Win10 update (at or near the same time) that is causing some issues.
Microsoft loves to make things better by “upgrading” tools and changing settings back to defaults.
Actually, maybe it’s not the changes or tools itself but the very own process of downloading updates. Apparently Friday is the day for Win 10 updates and, as everyone know, you have barely to no control of when it’s going to happen. Possibly an update was being downloaded that congested the connection then the game started to lag and disconnect.
I tell it for fact because recently at my work place every Friday the connection start having issues, to the point of download speed reaching 2 Kb/s on a 30 Mbps connection, in a network with 15 or so comps running Win 10.
….
just tell me that this comparison is not extremely weird:
a class in wow has 3 specs that are viable in every game mode(except for tanks in pvp and healers in solo obvioualy)…for example if im playing a shaman im wow i can heal im every game mode, play ranged in every game mode AND play melee on every game mode.
…
The builds that you see commonly used are just what are optimal. There are other builds that are viable.
Essentially this.
Optimal and Viable are two different words.
Viable suggests that the build(s) can overcome a task.
Optimal suggests that the build is the best build at overcoming a task.
A viable build can be more optimal than another viable build, suggesting that that build is better at overcoming a task.
Heading over to WoW and Noxxic’s DPS (PvE) rankings (http://www.noxxic.com/wow/dps-rankings/targets-1-ilvl-895-fight-real/), we can have a look at the Mage…
By the rankings it has 3 viable builds (possibly more that are not shown), Frost, Arcane, and Fire. Frost places 4th place, Arcane places 5th place, and Fire places 21st place. Now, all builds are viable, though Frost and Arcane are more optimal than fire in both single and multi-target fights. Then Frost is more optimal than Arcane and Fire, in both single and multi-target fights. Out of all the builds, Frost is the most optimal. Now, having played WoW myself, probably 99% of people raiding will run the Frost build, the 1% that don’t will have a harder time getting into raids or core-raid groups…
Similarly for other classes and PvP.
It’s also worth pointing out that the 7k extra DPS done by the Frost mage can be lost due to inadequate mechanical/player skill – say improper rotation. Though, if a Fire Mage is beating a Frost Mage on the dps charts… the frost mage is really doing something wrong, or isn’t geared…
Every game, has tons of viable builds.
And every game has only a handful of the most optimal builds.
Have yet to see a game with a ton of optimal builds per class/prof/spec. I think it’s because we’re using the word “optimal”.
Edit:
The most optimal builds are also called “meta” builds…

Even if you can oneshot them with your autoattack that place isn’t worth going to for flax. In the time that you oneshotted a wyvern I would have gathered at least one flax.
It seems there was a recent Win10 update (at or near the same time) that is causing some issues.
That should be Vision Crystal not Visionary Crystal.

I am deaf.
here is how i got the majority of my boss kills.
Searched LFG for groups doing runs. that have requirements that I know I can meet.
Joined said groups.
after intial introduction if there was a voice chat listed i would contact the comander of the group via whisper and inform them of hearing situation.
"" I am Deaf so voice is tricky at best for me. I do know the fight and my role. if it becomes and issue i will gladly step out. ""
At this point it is all on you. You need to preform to an expectation that is greater than the average PuG. And be willing to Stand down or move on without question should the group feel it is not working.
I, personally, would even go as far as messaging the comander after leaving the group thanking them for their time. and wishing them luck on the future. regardless if it was a “kick” or kill.
IS this harder?
of course.
but you gotta do what you gotta do.
to answer you original question is it possible? yes, does it happen? yes, often.
Just like any other requirement that a group asks for, either meet the expectations of the group. or set up your own.
I don’t get people thinking that its the fault of the player that they bought too many copper machines that were later made irrelevant by shared inventory slots that pretty much targeted things like unlimited salvage kits and unlimited npc summons.
After shared inventory slots came out people that had more than one unlimited salvage machine had 1 of 3 choices,
-don’t buy shared inventory slots out of spite
-delete extras
-put in bank thinking anet might add another legitimate option for them
instead they put their fingers in their ears and for some reason have players defending that response.
Maybe some day you will. Until then, here’s the posts discussing it.
After the 2013 Toypocalypse there were changes to the game that broke the underlying functionality for Toypocalypse. For 2014 the team was trying to fix the bug (and really, they went up past the absolute last second to try and fix it) but ultimately had to decide between the activity working or being cut – it was that unplayable. It wasn’t a lightly made decision, especially since it had worked the year before and players liked it.
The team would still like to fix it but it isn’t a simple switch or anything. Reverting the change would break significant other parts of the game.
Soo…. I would rather queue with friends too, but I’d also like to be able to do the activity. It’s a rough tossup.

I just heard from the team about this, and it is an unfortunate but intended change. The alteration came about because code changes were required in order to stabilize PvP and some Instance Activities. According to one of our lead designers, the change cannot be revisited for this year’s release. Thanks for your understanding concerning this necessary adjustment.
Bottom line: This was not a “choice.” This was not a decision made without thought, or carelessly, or in error. This was a necessary change that stabilized the game, for both PvP and Activities.
We understand that you would have preferred that this change not be made, but the cost of not making this change was too significant to let it slide. The change was necessary and as much as we regret any dissatisfaction that you may feel in relation to it, according to the designers it must remain in this state for this year’s release.
ANet may give it to you.

Found a couple minor bugs in addition to the lack of reshuffling. I’ve also worked on a new version of the matchmaker that will improve roster size and profession matching. We will likely trial it during the off-season.
If I remember, I will update the wiki!
So we have to endure the bugs and flaws of the current system (that certain players abuse) until next season? Lovely… :/
Perhaps you’d understand if you researched a bit on game development. Should be tons of resources if you feel like googling; things like quality assurance, build processes, release management, etc.

Anet-Benn
This was a bug fix for an issue where certain skills that remove the speed cap on players could be combined with updrafts and other force-applying game systems to allow the player to accelerate way beyond how fast they should be able to go. I apologize for the lack of patch notes on the bug fix. Regardless, this was important to fix, because it broke many things, and as a byproduct made cheat detection more difficult to manage. It wasn’t an attempt to “remove the fun of the skill”, it was to fix a map-breaking bug that had game-wide repercussions.
As you can see from the past few living world episodes, we’ve been finding new ways to empower player movement, and this bug was causing issues for these, as well as blocking any future plans we may create to add fun new systems for motion.
Mordrem_Moth
Can you then make the updrafts down where the unbound guardian spawn push you high enough you can reach the nodes that spawn down there then since there’s no way to reasonably get them now?
Anet-Benn
They are pretty tough to get to. :/ I’ll discuss with the others who worked on that episode.
ANet may give it to you.
There are rewards for winning.
There’s Dragon Ball Champion (Win 10 games) and Dragon Ball Boss (Win 5 games). Not to mention credit for participating and/or other play mechanics for different Achievements.
Good luck.
The way I understand ToS and RoC, if you report an afk farmer for botting, you’re putting your account in risk of suspension or termination, not theirs.
What they’re referring to are instances of people submitting false reports for the sake of trying to get someone banned for personal reasons. For example, if I make up a vague, sketchy report in hopes of getting someone banned out of revenge, then yeah, my account would be at risk. The main problem with all of this is that Anet is really big on not wanting to be held accountable for mistakes, being way to vague when it comes to what’s legit and what isn’t and being liberal when it comes to putting the hammer down.
They are vague because the more clear your rules are, the more people abuse that by pointing out that their abuse was not technically a violation. Which is why, you will find, every single MMO has a clause that is basically “…and if we say you suck for doing it, it’s an bannable offense, no matter anything else.”
The truth is, though, as you say: good faith reports are not going to be a problem for the person doing the reporting. It’s only when they are not in good faith and/or in such a volume that they seem abusive, that it’s gonna be an issue.
Which, in my own experience where running around actively gathering stuff can lead to whispers of “kitten you you kitten kitten kitten afk farmer!!!1!” from people, could actually happen to some of the “everyone bots and afk farms except me” folks.
PS: Yes, I don’t know why it was AFK farmer instead of bot, but hey, I guess they don’t pay them enough to correct the whisper they sent to the last person when they move on to abusing the next target.
The did kindly inform me that being unhappy about what they called me was stupid, and I should be /grateful/ they are doing the service of insulting people via whispers in order to drive away robots though.
Again, I’m gonna add to this by reminding y’all that other games cough WoW cough BDO cough StarWars MMO cough just discard XP at max level, more or less, and they didn’t die of it.
(Yes, I know that BDO doesn’t technically discard it, it just hits the diminishing returns curve so hard that nobody is past 68 to 69 or whatever, and the next step will be exponentially longer than that. No rewards exist for grinding toward it though.)
So claiming that GW2 is unique in all the world, and here but only here, will players quit because they don’t get rewarded for their XP, is a hard sell and requires some convincing proof about why it’s different…
If each color is just a code ID, then doesn’t take up that much room.
The most common challenge is that there are in-memory structures that expand because of this, causing unexpected memory pressure when you multiply this sort of thing by 150 players or more in a single instance – or that there is some sort of hard-coded limitation somewhere that makes it difficult to add arbitrary data to your backend storage.
Which are both annoying, and mostly “it’s hard to fix after the fact” problems, but sometimes that is life.
So, just because the raw data is small, it’s a mistake to assume that it is an equally small effort to store it for an MMO. Which can really suck.
I’d also suggest that crediting “the Guild Wars 2 development and design team” is a good way to do this – it’s reasonable to say that the team, working together, rather than an individual artist from it, inspired you.
(Generally. I’m making the assumption that the people reviewing this are using good judgment to read what you say and kitten it from a sensible, neutral-ish point of view. If they have a checklist of names and you have to list the correct ones, all bets are off.
Actually, I’m more than satisfied. Besides, for a company that has taken a hands off approach to the TP, it’s pretty funny they would give anyone the impression they will do something about this considering they already make MC’s available to every player for nothing by doing nothing. I can’t wait to see their solution actually, just to see if it makes MC’s cost even more than they do now. That would be hilarious. I can see it now “we are increasing the number of MC you get from your login reward by X” … how people would still QQ.
I agree, dont know why people think Anet will do anything about it after MOB said:
So we’re watching them closely but not taking action at this time.
And if they watched them as closely as I did, they would have seen that nothing much has changed since Mike´s answer.
A small spike in price, when Wintersday was released, which was expected due to Winters Presence and that small spike after the buy out, which didnt even last a day.
Apart from that, prices and supply are pretty much the same as in November, so no need to expect a change.

Of course it would be good. Who wouldn’t want to buy one Legendary and get 5 Legendaries. I know I would.
1) Eternity (Switches with time of day)
2) Sunrise
3) Twilight
4) Twilight with Eternity pommel (and footsteps?) (static with time of day)
5) Sunrise with Eternity pommel (and footsteps?) (static with time of day)
It would be a really sweet deal for Eternity owners. The other Legendary owners will be jealous of course but maybe one day ANet will do something for them too…. one day. someday.

From his post, OP is genuinely confused about the name of the patch, and not concerned with the price of the mats.
THANK YOU! People around here seem to be so obsessed with finding flaw in another persons opinion that it completely blinds them to what is being stated in the first place.
Well, the OP did say in his title
Why do Silk Patches Cost Mostly Leather?
Which implies he was asking about cost and not name of the item.
ANet may give it to you.
He was mad because you outplayed him. To make himself feel better he had to tell you that it didn’t actually happen.

Hey everyone!
Two weeks ago I purchased Royal Tarrace Pass and placed it in my shared inventory slot. Few days ago (yup, took me some time…) I noticed it is impossible to return to characters oryginal position – before using the item. Well. I must have misunderstood dulfy or something, and thought that since Noble’s Folly Pass had this functionaly, every item of type should have it, right?
No. Wrong.
So yeah, in my opinion it does not make the item that great. I have submitted a ticket, but apparently I had used the item too long to be elligible for refund. But the kind GM from support proposed me to create topic, suggesting this improvement.
So here I am. Pretty bitter to be honest.
Suggestion: After using the royal tarrace pass, we obtain bundle. Maybe, give this item a skill, that would allow holder to return to his oryginal position, before porting to a tarrace? This would not only greatly enhance the items utility, but also keep all the items consistent in what they do.
It has been brought up before, pretty much since the inception of the pass (2 years ago?). It doesn’t really seem like an unreasonable request since both the HoM stone, home instance portal and also the guild hall button all send you back to where you came from.
Very few of us who don’t particularly enjoy them are saying that Anet shouldn’t have created hardcore content. I just think they should either have been more inclusive (i.e. different levels of difficulty, or that there should have added a comparable amount of relevant low to moderate level difficulty content added. That’s all. We lack balance.
The fact is — and this is a fact that is readily verifiable if you follow forums at all — that there are any number of demographics that want constant attention, and if the complaints are to be believed, none of them are getting enough to do. That’s why we see lower difficulty content in the persistent world and harder content in instances. Making multiple tiers of difficulty is just flat out more work, and ANet cannot keep up with player demand as is. So, as nice as it might be, it does not look like what you want is likely.
The original dailies system was better (and sadly part of what convinced me to buy the game…). The whole purpose of having dailies in games is to give people who need defined goals to be happy, something to DO every day. Therefore it would make sense to have as wide a variety of dailies possible, so your game appeals to all types of people who play the game.
Dailies also help the bean counters at the company, because Player Login = Advertisements Seen AND/OR Engaged Customer = Potential Gem Sales = Potential Revenue.
That’s why I really don’t understand why they changed the dailies to the current system that essentially shuts out people, because the reality is that most people simply won’t do things in games that they don’t find enjoyable. Rather, they log into some other game where they become some other company’s potential revenue source.
This post makes me think you haven’t even logged in in a long time.
Dailies now don’t shut people out, they are more inclusive than ever. It used to be you had to do all the dailies to get the meta, even of game types you didn’t enjoy. Now you only need to complete THREE out of a minimum of 12 (16 during major festivals) to get the meta rewards and full AP. How is that possibly shutting people out? If someone doesn’t want to do event dailies, fine, they don’t have to do them. Every day there is always 3 incredibly easy dailies that can be done and a person can be finished in 5 minutes if they wish to. A vista, some form of gathering (both these first two are on every days daily list), mystic forger, big spender, jumping puzzles were tons of mesmers gladly port to help people, kill a dolyak in WvW, take a monument node. Really easy stuff.

Probably, but I tell you something about human behaviour: Our nature is to overcome challenges even though we don’t like it.
1. You either do the escort and you don’t have to worry about this issue anymore
2. You live with the fact, that Anet decided to make things how they are
3. You wait until they change it
I have to admit that it may be not fair for those who don’t want to raid. But if you have such big issues with it you probably have to learn that life and even life in a game may force you to do something that isn’t all a pleasure. I’d understand the constant moaning if you had to complete the whole raid or a harder boss. But it isn’t. It’s really not hard. People have to learn that they are not eligible for everything in life but if they want it they have to work for it. Yes, even in a game. Maybe I think this way be cause I play games since the good old Nintendo difficulty times; it was quite normal to not finish a game at all. In fact, I haven’t finished about half of all the games I had and it was okay. I always kept thinking that I was bad I had to be better. Not the other way around.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
I’m preparing to take off my Santa hat. Can’t decide between sunglasses or circus hat. Life is so difficult sometimes.
There’s very few random things in the raids that are actually problematic.
These complaints about RNG scream heavily of inexperience, not just in raids but within knowing your class and its limits and how to handle the situations.
