Anet absolutely could write the relevant code to detect this and adapt, but I do wonder: do you have a specific output device selected, or “Default Device”?
I ask, because my system correctly switches between headphones and speakers in everything expect Blade and Soul — and B&S is the only one where I’m not using “Default Device” as an output. (Because it doesn’t show up.)
Anyway, seems worth checking?
Wouldn’t it take resources to implement some of the things you suggest they sell?
Wouldn’t some of the things you suggest they sell be Pay-to-Win?
Wouldn’t some of the things you suggest they sell alienate some/much of the playerbase?
Good luck.
This is my first post and I am curious what you guys think. Are there flaws in my proposal? Does it have potential?
WoW tried this with reforging of gear to move stats around. Ultimately, it turns out that even with a non-trivial penalty to stat amount for doing so, this becomes a game of:
- gear drops
- put in bags
- visit a spreadsheet or website to calculate optimal stat allocations for all gear
- reforge all gear to match
The optimal values for stat allocation were pretty much uniformly copied from websites, where they were recorded based on simulation and real world testing, in the same way that the current GW2 meta builds and so forth are.
So, the end result was that reforging was what could best be described as a “don’t suck” button that you pushed between “get gear” and “equip gear”. It added no complexity, no build diversity, no real choice between gearing, just a push-button-get-stats metagame in between the two.
If you want to know about the details and experiments they undertook, you can probably find the history over at the mmo-champions forums.

Why has Anet done a turnabout?
If I had to guess, I’d guess that they did this because they thought it was better for the game overall to handle it this way.
Over the next six months they will find out if they were right, and if it doesn’t achieve their goals, forget about it.
Fixed that for you, based on the usual Anet behaviour.
Which fits tight into their policy of “If it’s not broken, fix it until it is.”
Wow! I have literally zero idea why either of you are, like, still playing this game. If you seriously believe that anet only make things worse and worse, wouldn’t this be the right time to, y’know, leave, before you hate it even more? O_o

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Raid-Normal-Hard-Mode/first
This comes up a lot so I’m going to jump in quickly since it’s a new post.
Tier systems for Raids come up a lot as a result of what Fractals did. I worked on the original Fractals team and a tiered system with increased difficulty scaling was always part of the original plan for that team. It was never a plan for Raids. They are, and should remain, the most difficult content in the game.
Accessibility in terms of difficulty is something we talk a lot about internally. We’ve made efforts to help players get in by delivering entry level encounters that ease you into the content (STK) and you’ll see more of that in the next release. You’ll still see encounters that live up to previous raid expectations for mid tier and final bosses. And if you think Matthias is a chump then we have something for you as well.
Accessibility in terms of “Hey, my 5 man Fractal group wants to try raids, but we can’t find 5 other players!” is also something we talk about. It’s just a much more difficult problem to solve.
In that case I would request a refund
no really, you should look in the right tab. the 4th tab is core stats, the 5th tab is HoT stats

Since HoT stats were supposed to require owning the expansion, it’s also possible that if you don’t own it, the HoT stats tab doesn’t show up?
Shameless plug, but this is a comparison of crafting a set of ascended armor versus buying it now.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Ascended-crafting-buying-comparison/first#post6505271
The price is almost the same, substantially more expensive to buy once you account for the opportunity cost of using 3,000 fractal relics to buy from the fractal vendor.
A single skill got a justified damage nerf in PvE. And 7% on air overload will not take Ele’s out of the running for top DPS. Again, even if they weren’t the buffs you wanted, nothing else in this patch was a nerf for eles.
State of F2P without HoT after the next xpac?

As far as we know:
1. The f2p content will remain the same as it is now (there were no dev statements that suggested any change in that regard).
2. HoT will be included “for free”, with any new expac. You will still need to pay for that expac to get HoT however. It won’t be really free.
3. Hot and the next expac will be bundled “for free” (the same as above, so at no additional cost, but not really for free) with next expac in line. And so on – every future expac will include all previous expac content (basically, if you’ll pay for the game at any point, you will get every expac content released up until that point).
4. To reiterate, HoT won’t be included in f2p with the next expac release. That was just a misunderstanding of the policy mentioned in point 2 that somehow got treated as fact by some.
Remember, remember, 15th of November

As they’ve announce things so far, free to play players will never have elite specs, or masteries, or access to raids. This can change but I don’t think that’s likely.
Possibly it has nothing to do with API system being down. GW2Efficiency has been having that issue for weeks while other websites have worked normally. I believe GW2Efficiency is having some kind of issue.
P.S.: For record, at the time of this post the API seemed to work normally as I had just used an Account Audit thing from a website and it uses mostly the entire API.
they were turned back on 4 hours (or so) ago, so it would be working normally when you made your post

There’s room for everyone in raids.
What needs to happen is following:
The players that prefer meta only members need to respect the groups that say “any welcome” and not try to force them to go meta or get upset when things don’t go smoothly if they’re PUGing with a “any welcome” group.
The players who don’t want to follow the meta for whatever reason need to respect the groups that say meta only and not join them and lie about it.
And since “any welcome” would accept meta builds, if there’s any confusion assume meta only and ask if you’re not if it’s alright if you run X.
Both groups need to respect each other.
The price of starcakes has nothing to do with the rarity of the recipe but the unusually high amount of ingredients needed to cook it.
I don’t think we can agree on this one.
Let me back up my opinion with some data. (Most of it checked on gw2 spidy)
Last year, in august we had a whopping price of 3.23g per cake. At the same time, the price for the ingredients have not changed at all. The most expensive ingredient -Saffron – was at a sell listing price of 3,90s per unit. It costs 3,89s at the moment.(19.02.2017).
However, what is extremly special about this specific date is the sell listing amount we had back then. Only 174 Dragon Cakes were on the trading post which clearly impacted on the price.
The problem is, that we can’t tell how long it will be ‘til we get the next shortage. Or what happens if the demand for the pieces of Zhaitaffy gets higher than the amount available. We had 4,5 million of them on the trading post for a time. Now we’re at just 60k. With only 3 options left to get them.
A) Generosity’s Reward
B) Gift from Mawdrey II
C) Fluctuating Mass
However, here’s the deal. The chance to get the zhaitaffy seems to be incredibly low and on top of that it only seems to drop 1 unit, whereas 40 are needed for the cake.
It’s apparently listed on the loot table for those 3 containers, yet a lot of openings of more than 250 bags have not shown a single piece of zhaitaffy.
So, the recipe itself can’t be obtained anymore and the pieces of Zhaitaffy are rare, yet this bufffood is certainly the best option for certain non-meta hybrid builds.
As haleydawn pointed out, the birthday blaster is to some extent a shortduration, free alternative. However, it lacks a total of 35 stat points(7*5) and lasts only 10 minutes.
Considering that not everyone likes to spam their birthday blasters all the time, there should be something else as a valid long lasting alternative for those of us, who are loving their hybrid builds(even when they are totally out of the meta) yet would like to get the most out of it.
TLDR: I stopped using LFG and browsing guilds to try and get into raids, and instead, just went out and talked to people about joining a group. My attitude towards raids went from salty to satisfying in about one hour.
To begin, recently Wooden Potatoes went on a rant the other day about how so many people are mad that a good story is attached to a raid. In a Reddit post showing this video, there are many replies that boil down to, “It’s hard to get into, raids are not accessible.” For the longest time, I considered myself part of this mindset. Here’s the Reddit post
Unlike these people, the video didn’t make me upset, but inspired me to consider reaching out more and changing my strategy when it comes to finding a group. Before then, I would just casually browse LFM from time to time, hoping that someone is requesting a condi necro/general dps, as that is my only character with both ascended weapons and jewelry, and at the same time, post on LFG requesting any wing. This strategy didn’t really work for me, as it seems that professions that are good at buffing are valued above all else. I also tried looking into other guilds, but I didn’t want to do anything that might compromise my ability to participate with my main guild.
Then, last night, I did something that most people who complain about raid accessibility would probably consider craaaaazy!
I simply went into the aerodome and typed in chat, “Anyone training new players in raids? I’m a condi necro who is willing to learn any wing. I have TS.” Immediately, I got several replies! The group I ended up joining didn’t even require TS, they used Discord, a communication tool that works right off your browser. We spent about an hour learning the first encounter in wing 3 and eventually, we finished it! It was no speed run, and we didn’t move on to other encounters in the wing, but it felt good to beat the escort and I met a lot of people along the way. If it wasn’t so late at night, we could’ve probably tried our hand at Keep Construct.
We didn’t clear the wing, but I don’t think that’s the point of raids when you’re just starting out.
I guess the point of my rambling is that I hope you all who are intimidated by raids can learn to approach it with an open mind. For the longest time, I was in the same camp as the rest of the casual player base, writing off raids as something for this exclusive club of teenagers and young adults with a lot of time on their hands and feeling left out when I learned that a good story was a part of raids.
Being a very shy person by default, making myself known in a random aerodome instance was a big deal for me and really took me out of my comfort zone. Despite my initial discomfort, I ended up having a lot of fun, even though my group really didn’t make it far. I will probably start spending more of my free time practicing raids while gearing up the rest of my characters.

Devs actually gave it the OK
This is allowed behavior; as it was designed to function that way.
If your pets are doing the killing and your mastery is doing the looting; you’re okay as far as GMs are concerned. This does not mean design can’t/won’t/should/shouldn’t update the system as it works today.
You should have put the whole quote in, the post the dev is responding to where Ephemeral Wallaby said intentional mechanics that allow pet kills to give experience and loot is not permission to afk farm and the dev agreed.
Tl;dr intentional mechanics that allow pet kills to give experience and loot =/= permission to afk farm.
This is absolutely correct.
If your pets are doing the killing and your mastery is doing the looting; you’re okay as far as GMs are concerned. This does not mean design can’t/won’t/should/shouldn’t update the system as it works today.
ANet may give it to you.
The very first response is all you need. The fact that you’re arguing against it “because you’re not using third party programs” seems to suggest that you already afk farm and are just looking for someone to justify it for you.
As an example: Anet has provided players with a chat box, yet they will still ban for abusive language. Third party programs are not the determining factor.

Hey guys! The issue with the weapons not changing to Seraph in the Mystic Forge is known. A fix is being looked into, but I cannot provide an eta on when that will be out.
Concerning the PvP vendor armor not stat adjusting either – as Illconceived pointed out – there is a fix being prepped (I verified this with the PvP team as well). I can’t give an eta on when it will be out at this time.
Thank you guys for the reports!
Sometimes when I play in Lake Doric, a npc spawns that helps fighting mobs. The npc is tagged with our guild name as well, and has a blue “name”.
Anyone know how and why these helper npcs pop up?
so now the devs literally say the non raiders only deserve scraps and they made the new raid focused in that way
No, I merely pointed out what is currently available for non-raiders to catch up on the raid story while inside the game. More than happy to answer your questions, but in the future I’d appreciate it if you didn’t paraphrase my intentions that way. Because that’s not what I said, nor what I meant.
Your statement above is in direct contradiction to your comments in the recent MMORPG interview you and Crystal Reid did -
http://www.mmorpg.com/guild-wars-2/interviews/the-demons-of-bastion-of-the-penitent-1000011552
You cant claim that a cleared instance provides the same experience and then make statements about how you integrated story into every element – how it doesn’t matter if players play for the challenge or the thrill of discovery, they will still find something fun.
It comes across as disingenuous and, frankly, as marketing doublespeak (intentional or not) – simply telling people what they want to hear to placate them.
I replied to this over on Reddit but I’ll paste it here, too, since I think people should understand the context of my statements.
“I think you’re reading into my quotes a little too much. By ‘integrating story into every element’ I mean that the environment is a reflection of the story, the audio is an expression of the story. By the team collaborating across the board, we made the experience feel cohesive. The story bits are mostly told outside the encounters, save for the dialog during the Deimos fight (which is similar to how we handled Spirit Vale). The bulk of the story dialog is told between encounters, and all of the discoverables are available in a cleared instance.
Not trying to convince people either way, or belittle anyone’s feelings about the raids. I just wanted to clarify that part because it seems like the intention of my comment was unclear to you."
This doesn’t help EU players, but my offer to port anyone on NA having trouble getting up there still stands.
PvE content autonerfs itself as players become more familiar with how the encounters function.
Infusions could have so much more potential for this game, if Anet would just make more out of the concept of them and wouldnt waste their mechanic as being only a 1 sided feature whose meaningfulness is just only reduced down to Fractals basicaly
But … that’s the point. They are a self contained progression system, needed only if you are doing higher tier fractals. That was the design from the get-go, a way for players who crave progression and increasing challenge to satisfy that itch.
Of course, since the ascended gear stats offered a slight edge over exotic, and since raids came along in which even slight edges became make-or-break, ascended items have spilled over into everything except SPvP. Players do like power increases, no matter how small.
Even so, the infusion system itself is there to enable the AR stat improvement to allow entry to the harder fractals and serves no purpose outside of that. If you make it needed in other parts of the game, suddenly you’re compelling people with no interest in fractals who are happy with their gear to spend huge amounts of resources and time collecting something they have been told for years is optional.

You don’t. Usually, MMOs don’t talk about enforcement either — but I was trying out FFXIV recently, and in their news they announced the number of actions taken in the last month. (~ 8k bans, and 18k punishments).
That might be a good thing to push anet for. It would at least give the sense that something was being done.
I fail to see how jumping from server to server makes it fun
It’s the completely unbalanced reward-for-effort that made it “fun”, for some values of fun.
While mystic coins are very hard to obtain and only in very limited quantites mostly via login rewards, ectos can at least be freely obtain about everywhere. Even if you need 250 or 500 for a legendary, you can get there at your pace.
Per the Q&A, mystic coins are currently healthy:
- Approximately ten percent more supply than consumption at this point in time.
- Prices remain stable after multiple serious price manipulation efforts, all of which failed.
- They provide income for new players, selling to established players who desire cosmetic and luxury items; a high price isn’t necessarily a problem there.
i had the same prob 2 years ago and that was worked for me is this!!
select the char that has the prob be a guest on another server (for a strange reason could log in at the same map on a different server) and then wp to another city or location than sw!!
