I’m sorry, but I think this game is very simple to me.

No need to be sorry. If that’s how you feel, that’s how you feel.

I can agree on the simplicity. Though it came with some benefits, it lost a lot of the quirks, customization, and amount of builds that could be had with the old trait system.

I wish they would at least go back to that format of being able to select Adept traits in the Master tier, and Adept and Master traits in the Grandmaster tier like before.

Granted, with a bit of tweaking to the traits again. Man, builds were a bit more unique and diverse back then. Ah, that was a good ’ole time before (at least for me).

I have 4 months playing guild wars 2 and I think I can make an opinion of it.

I’ll be honest, I never had an experience in MMO like Guild Wars 2 (PVE Content – Living World), is just beautiful.

But there are other things that upset me a lot, including WvW & PVP. I will not talk about it, everyone knows whats poppin.

All I want to talk here is about the Specializations. In this game you’re forced to use 1 meta build in different modes, YOU don’t have the freedom to create your own BUILD, They’re gonna scold you if you don’t have that " Bored Meta Build " unlike the Guild Wars (Original & others MMO’s) you could run soooo many crazy build’s and be successful but in Guild Wars 2 you have (1 class = 1 build) and then a massive amount of useless traits and skills.

You can have 3 specializations available in your build and then only 5 skills on your bar, really? is that enough for you?.. is just boring to use the same 3 traitlines on a class and the same weapon for 4+ MONTHS. You can’t customize your primary weapon skills with your secondary, or vice versa. You can’t edit your traits and skills as you want. Everything is like in “automatic” just click here & click there, there you got, done.

I’m sorry, but I think this game is very simple to me.

That´s how it looks like when Arenanet tries to create “interesting matches” . As always they kittening failed, it´s ridiculous. A lot of people don´t even log in at all or only for a few minutes until they see that either FSP or BB (at night) has their mega zone blobs everywhere and simply go offline. This is not fun and if Arenanet does not start to handle that in a way more professional way, it will damage the wvw community in the long run. But they don´t even dare to come here to say something, really the worst handling of problems from a company i´ve ever seen.

Like I have written multiple times: the match making should be based on total population (including linked servers), not the rank. If server links are reset every 2 months, it gives too short time for the glicko to adjust to new populations. In general glicko adjusts to population changes too slowly, created totally lopsided match ups. To make things worse, Arenanet increased the random glicko range. They did in purpose to make the glicko adjust faster, but the side effect is that we have way too large gaps in glicko and thus you have match ups like: FSP (EU #1) vs BB (EU #8) and Kodash (EU #9). Ideally the most populated server combinations FSP, Piken and Jade Sea would be in tier 1 match vs each other. And Deso should be in tier 3 with the current population.

Our current match up is even more imbalanced than your screen shot. Deso has mere 73 points vs Piken has 157. I think the ~2x point difference paints a rather rosy picture, because last time I played today we had just 3 players on home bl and outnumbered “buff”. We still managed to flip keeps and towers, but of course there was no way to hold paper towers/keeps against much superior numbers. So basically it is just a quick sneak capture and then run. I guess it is also quite boring for enemy as well, just to see one server running away…

Most top servers want big fights, but the current match up system doesn’t give much changes to them. Even a population difference e.g. 10 vs 30 vs 50 creates a huge advantage for the latter. You can split 50 players 30+10+10 and there is no way the side with 10 is able to defend against those numbers. So everything in the map will be paper and the vicious circle is ready.

In the past we’ve seen grand ploys to garnish your hard-earned cash into the GW2 gem store. Nothing so innocent as a really fab skin, or a black lion ticket. No, no… We’ve seen straight up “gambling” (halloween raffle for Halloween 2013 skins) and “Salami Slicing” (gem to gold exchange UI update).

Now, we are faced with the next big thing in ANet’s corrupted history: Insider Trading.

Is this just “merely coincidence”? Could it be “merely coincidence” that a small group of players just all of sudden, decided to start lowering the prices on their backstocks of Halloween 2013 weapon skins? Could it just be “merely coincidence” that the market on such items was at an all time low, in terms of demand, that affected the price?

I’ll let you answer that, but for me, the two posts are liking writing on the wall.

Since we’ve easily allowed gambling, and salami slicing to occur without much resistance from the community, i believe this too shall pass, as no one will really care, and proceed to be happy about their new Halloween 2013 skin, much like i am with my new greatsaw. However, i wonder ‘how far’ is ‘too far’?

Just FYI PT was going to leave Desolation because we knew we were over stacked. I’d only tagged up 3-4 times that month because it was so boring. As Deso lost the linking we then decided to stay.

I didn’t come to the forums to complain, I came to say thanks for all the fights over the years, however I had lost faith in anet blah blah blah. The point I was making wasn’t that I was leaving because of what happened, purely because whatever happened would have minimal impact as anet control everything now. I’ve been on Deso 2-3 times during a crash and then rebuilt the server / got it back up to T1. THAT was fun, fighting outnumbered for 2 months only for Anet to then throw some cheap servers into a linking as a money grab- what’s the point in even having servers when they are unable to resolve the core issues and server identity is all but gone.

After 4 years of fighting doors to PPT or out of boredom, enough is enough, time for a gaming break

If you feel it’s unfair, why weren’t you here complaining when you had the advantage?

Pretty much this. How ever even though i agree on that Deso are were they are because of their own dumb bandwagon idea to linked servers, i still have to say that the linking is a freaking disaster in EU. We had different matchups every week. Now we are being painted in to a corner of staleness.

Arena Net claimed they made FSP a monster server (with two links even though several guilds had just moved there) so they could face Viznuah who also got two links. This have yet not happen and this week my server have to fight Rivercart Side and Viznuah. Up to this week i thought RS was the master of siege, but oh boy have i been living a lie. I am sorry Riverside but Viznuah pushed you down to spot number 10 on that list and they own the 9 first them self.

This could be ok if it was only the keeps/towers. The ridiculous amount of siege in their keeps/towers is unbelievable. But now imagine the siege nest they build at every fight in the open field. There is always at least 5 shield generators involved. A insane amount of ac, ballistas and cattas.
I know why they do it because even if they are 5 times more then us, without the siege we run them over without any issue. They know it, we know it. So they built siege nests for 3 days now and our fights is about killing siege. All we are ever fighting is siege, more siege and more siege. No one wants to tag up anymore because there are no real fights to be found. Riverside can sometimes provide fights, they even been asking for it but our comanders just got exhausted of all the siege and given up because what is the fun to fight a blob of siege? And yes we do kill them, check their k/d ratio and you will see so this is not about them running us over in fights. It is about siege and more siege.

So after all that siege you go to bed and thinking, screw this i am doing fractals tomorrow and whilst dreaming nightmares about siege Viznuah is up nightcapping all night and building siege i imagine (the last one was just me being sarcastic, sorry)

My god i miss bandwagon Deso! I am sorry i was tired of facing your blobs for months. All is forgotten, we did not know there was something worse out there so please come back!!!

Please send ""Viznuah the siege and night cap monster to FSP at next mu. After all that is why they got two links, or at least that’s what Arena Net claimed.

Finally, I’m in the game. But I’m not going to say “thank you” ArenaNet because it was their mistake. And I think if this was not a game, but, for example, banking software, they would have been fired without a chance to find a job of programmer again.

Really? Is that how it works in your industry? If you make a mistake that causes your product or service to be inaccessible for 8 hours you lose your job and can never work in the same field ever again?

The only time I’ve heard of that happening was for something really drastic, like stealing money from the company or doing something else which is illegal. (And even then it depends on the situation – for example I know of someone who accidentally disturbed a protected species whilst employed to protect them, it could have lead to that years young being abandoned by their parents – they got a written warning but kept their job.)

My boss has a saying for these situations: “No one’s going to die and nothing will catch on fire.”

It’s not ideal, but it’s hardly the end of the world.

One of the reasons GW2 isn’t very popular e-sports wise is still bad balancing. Even my friends playing high ranked sPvP can’t take this game serious.
For me, competetive modes in this game where always kind of a joke.

It was never ever a strengh of ANet to balance their game properly since GW2s launch. Elite Specs just made it worse.

One of the main reasons for this is the still missing split of PvE and PvP balancing.

Just don’t play competetive if you like build diversity, really tactics based combat, or a game without any p2w.

Since Elite Specs hit this game, it has become “Spam Wars 2 – Jack of (almost) all trades, still having burst potential.”

Just look at the Elite Spec tank meta established in WvW by some guilds. Just pathetic how bad this game`s mechanics got.

Edit: btw. the Dragon Hunter’s chain is still bugged. It pulled and clipped/glitched me into obstacles several times, making me stuck into objects completely. Or it pulled me while dodge rolling (Wich is not that fair to be honest..). Maybe this thing should have properly LoS-mechanics aswell, but it stays even through walls.

This belongs in the PvP section imo, but yeah I agree, kinda, do an extent. Not exactly what you’re saying, but:

People are too tanky and there’s too much sustain and healing, it makes PvP really unrewarding(compared to pre-hot) because you can’t make skillful plays when people die so slowly and have so many get out of jail free cards and are hard to punish for mistakes.

It’s not just sustain and healing, though. There’s too much of literally everything post-HoT, including damage. Contrary to what Anet seem to believe, super high sustain doesn’t balance out super high damage, it just creates a thoroughly frustrating game full of hard counters and gimmicks (immortal bunkers, one-shot builds, perma evade etc..).

We will also give your thief a massive toughness boost baseline, pulsing immunity to reveal, pulsing resistance to conditions, aegis every three seconds, permanent retaliation, the ability to counter all passive abilities in the game, all baseline.

In return all we ask is that thieves give up massive stealth uptime, all your evasion uptime, your power, ferocity and precision stats will all be reduced by 75%, all your mobility skills will be removed, all speed increasing skills will be removed, you will no longer be able to create a burst in the form of venomshares, and your dazes and stuns will be replaced with one second of regeneration.

Sounds fair ok? After all, don’t all thieves want to be walking walls of invulnerability?

As a person who mains a thief, yes call me bad if you want. No. Please do not buff thieves ANY more. I already have enough people whining to me that “thieves are cheap classes” or “wow learn to play a real class”. I don’t need to give them a reason to whine. I played thief for 6 months, PvE & PvP. It just seems you need to practice a little more with your thief, is all. After all, you’re a thief. What does this mean? You do NOT need to go in balls blazing, expecting to win every 1v1. You have a role, assuming this is pvp, you cap points, you run quick, and you help your team by sneaking up and assisting them in fights. Doing this, will allow you to get much better with your class, and also allow you to win much more 1v1’s. But i swear if thieves get one more buff, and i have to hear these kittenbabies whine even more about me being a “hax” because i have a deathly combo that can drop folks in 3 shots, i’ll seriously consider resigning from thief. I digress, thieves are just fine how they are, the burst we have ARE stupid good. Our ability to get in and out of a situation using stealth is sometimes a bit extreme, and the fact we can get to one side of the map to the other in under 10 seconds is wonderful. Practice more with it, and trust me… once you get better, you’ll retract your request, by realizing, thieves are just fine. It’s not an over night class, it takes lots of practice, precision, accuracy, and knowing when and what to use. For some people, they just can’t play thief, and if thats the case, i would advise doing as others have suggested and pick up Warr, maybe Rev? This is of course just assuming you’re referring to PvP, because if you’re needing this assistance in PvE, then we’ll need to find you a different class. I hope it gets better for you, and truly do hope you end up liking thief. Its a fun class, just… not an easy one.

The casuals, loved this game because it was casual, we could accomplish things at our own pace while juggling work, family and other real life commitments.

If we had time to grind, I’m sure we would have gone with WoW, which is what GW2 is becoming, so why not just play WoW when that has everything already set up? I know a few people who left for WoW on those basis. I’d join them if I had time to grind.

I mostly play for the new Free-For-All arena in PvP lobby.
….. And Elementalist.

There is absolutely NO doubt that this game was advertised as casual oriented. Play your way, no grind, no gear treadmill.

What are all those diehard hardcores doing here in the first place?
Oh thats right: Vocal hardcores NEED wins – Winning, in this case, being every game catering to their specific needs.

Well it’s ok, you lot can have this game too. No sarcasm: I’ve had some good times here and probably will again once the ship starts zagging back where it zigged off.

No. You are asking for a way more open sandbox game than GW2 ever aimed to be. Question is, why should arenanet change the game now after 3 years when it has an established playerbase?

Also, none of the story mission are mandatory. You can get to every point of the map without playing the story.

-PVP should be compulsory for skills training, and there should be 1 v 1 combat as freeplay in all parts of the map. Levelling up should be a part of pvp skills training, not story-missions.

Leveling for pve characters via spvp is accomplished through the insane amount of Tomes of Knowledge pvp players get.

Open world pvp is done in the WvW areas of the game. Pve areas are for pve only. Again, you are looking for a sandbox pvp game, which GW2 is not.

-Take away the GEM system, it isn’t necessary. GW1 currency was fine. I can remember saving money for weeks and weeks to buy a guild hall, it felt so amazing, and it was. Now I can just buy it with my credit card??!!

The gem system and the way it’s been added is arenanets way of generating revenue and an intergral part of their business plan for GW2. It’s mostly cosmetic in nature so as to not make the game pay-to-win.

Unless you propose a better or alternative way of them monetzing GW2, it’s here to stay.

It makes a once good game appear cheap and desperate.

I got this game a few weeks ago after spending years on gw1 on and off.

Ok so I’m still learning new things about this game every day. Today I realized it has a gem system. WTF r they thinking???

-Take away mandatory mission grinding through map and replace it with story adventures that do not grant xp or level ups – there should be some other rewards, or maybe joint team adventures. Players should also be able to create their own missions or stories.

Heart of Thorns is NOTHING BUT A GRIND.

You can’t NOT GRIND if you want to progress in the maps. You have to MAX OUT THE GLIDER to use the edy currents in Tangled Depths! Unbelievable. Took a perfectly good game and turned it into a grinder….thanks a lot…and what sucks even worse is that you end up in Verdant Brink with everyone else who has to grind to progress because those are the fastest missions….thanks again.

I am not a grind person I hate grinding. You are correct in that I do not want to wait. I want to get on a map and clear it and if I have to run around grinding before I can clear everything, it ticks me off. Justifiably so I would add especially since old GW2 did not have all of that mess to deal with. Also, you are FORCED to level up ON the Heart of Thorns maps..ugh. You should be able to use any event in GW2. That would make it not as bad.

As much as I wanted to like the expansion, it just wasn’t my thing. I’m sure it’s a great expansion, but I’m a casual player and tend to run solo, which means that the new maps are just an exercise in frustration unless I happen to find a group to run with.
I’m not geared up enough to even bother to try the raids, plus I can’t spend hours at a time tied to a computer. I leave that to folks more dedicated than me.

I hear good things about Dragon Age: Inquisition. I might try that for a few weeks, then see if I can get my mojo back for GW2.

I don’t know if its just me or this “expansion” is getting really boring.

Every day its the same routine:

Save Tarir , Kill Mordy the wooden Mushu , Try and do a TD and hope it doesn’t fail.

And the rewards are just…..so not worth the time.(TBO they just give a bunch of junk, what am I supposed to do with lvl 80 masterpiece and fine equipment? ) The only thing valuable that drops from Pods are Crystaline ores, but once you’ve gotten your professions collectable item they just stock pile up in your bank.

Raids:

Every raid team has regular members, I’m with a casual PVE guild and we still have a hard time doing it( In fact we haven beaten it yet, we’ve practically given up on it), we have to be nice and friendly to our members that want to do it on one hand but we have to consider the timer & Dps on the other, its so frustrating

fractals and Dungeons:

Well, If Anet wants to neglect dungeons they should just remove them from the game.

And Fractals….I’ve opened over 2500 encrypted boxes and I can tell you they should just re-name them encrypted garbage cans.

MP for Tyria should be more easily obtainable, perhaps a few strong boxes here and there ?

Any way gonna go search for a new game to play until they find a solution to “Fix” what they have done.

A long time ago, there was an MMO that advertised itself out there to be “the” casual player mmo. This mmo promised it would create content that would be designed for relaxing and open social gameplay, the ability to play with friends without having to, the ability to do dungeon runs that werent frustrating or tedious, a massive world vs world vs world pvp mode that encouraged thousands to play. Huge map wide raids were also a big deal in these casual event systems designed to help casual gamers play with other casual gamers.

It also introduced a level based pvp system entirley seperate from its main game with an entirely class-balance based focus on that pvp system.

That game also had a decent roleplaying community on at least 2 major servers prior to the introduction of mega-servers and a number of other new additions to the game.

It also promised that absoleutley no content in the game would be a tedious chore.

GW2, What ever you promised to be, you need to keep it, screw this “1%” minority that are into e-sports, and raiding 24/7 this isnt WoW just abbandon that entirley and focus on the people that “do” care about the game, and “do” care about it surviving longer than 3 months.

GW2 was the first MMO SINCE World of Warcraft I could activly play for more than just a month, I felt a certain satisfaction in exploring the world, doing random questsa t my own pace and leisure, having the options to see Tyria at my own adventuring pace.

Now, I feel like the game wants me to rush into content, get my ascended mats, aquire legendaries, 5000 acheivement points minimum and alot more content thats just locked behind farming for content so that an kitten group of stowaways from other MMO’s can have their moment to shine.

Can we please, PLEASE go back to what MADE GW2 special in the first place.

Going forward, GW2 needs to abbandon this “challenging group content” kitten and “e-sport pvp ladder” system and just focus on what MADE GW2 special.

Its a game, people can play at their own leisure for fun, with nothing overly complicated about that at all.

Season 2 did this ALOT better than HoT did.

Going into Season 3 and future expansions, I would seriously hope A-net goes BACK to what made the games CORE gameplay special.

I want a game that isnt just another WoW clone, dont become another wow clone, A-net.

Soft wood planks now require 2 logs

Hmm, now soft wood planks cost fewer logs to refine than do the other tier wood planks (all others need 3 logs.)

I wonder why they decided to change this now.

Because Anet doesn’t like its playerbase to make money unless it requires a Mastercard.
