I just finished my personal story quest finally!

Pros.
i loved the story of guild wars 2. It isnt the best, but i was into the lore, i took my time playing the game, i didnt rush my story. Trahearne i understood what kind of character he was. He was a philosopher not a fighter but given the position to lead (not by choice), and you his friend and strongest ally. Its not a story about YOU, its about those around you and what effect zhaitan had on the people of tyria. it wasnt a typical your character is the hero blah blah. its something different and i appreciate Anets ability to show something different.

Cons.
Now trahearne wasn’t perfect i must add. I believe that he had a very good voice actor, but he didnt have enough emotion when speaking, and as other players have stated “No inspiring as a leader!” He had no real impact, if you were not into the story you might be turned off by this.

Side Notes:

Destinys edge are amazing! i hope to see some sort of event showing there past :p but putting them into the dungeons was a good idea, after all there are more dragons to slay and the story isnt over. perhaps Anet will change things, or implement them into the story more perhaps with jormag, with Snakitten Death.

I’d have been fine with my character being the sixth member of DE, because unlike HE THAT SHALL NOT BE NAMED, they have personality. They were clearly designed with some effort and they react with my character, taking supporting and helpful roles— but not stealing the spotlight.

BUT Nooo. NOOOO. YOU HAD TO BRING HIM IN HERE AND CAUSE MY ADORABLE, WITTY ASURA TO START TALKING BOOKAH.

I agree, the biggest problem with Guild War is there are very limited PvE stuffs to do after 80. Dungeons and fractals are fun but simply not enough. There should be several big and difficult areas like Orr ( with a lot more group events and discovery ) for level 80 character with deadly dungeons at the deep end of each area, that only good groups can reach (not just a big zerg mob ) and great groups can finish.

If you go on your hero tab you can see what steps you have completed so i was wondering if they could implement something that would give you and option to replay it but with diminished or no rewards. it would have no effect on your actual completed story but you could make different choices and see what other things would have happened instead of making a new character.

Norn are masters of disguise and subtlety. They can be anywhere, at any time, and can become whatever is necessary to ensure that they are never spotted. The chair you sit in could possibly be a Norn hunter in disguise. That window? Norn. Your carpet? A norn’s beard unbound. Your computer? You get the idea. Even if the Nightmare Court could perceive this Norn, she could easily adjust her personality, stride and expression so that The Nightmare Court likely would’ve assumed that she simply dismembered and skinned her foes and pasted their flesh onto herself as a grisly trophy.

You will never know a Norn if they don’t want to know you.

easily soloable

Everyone has a different definition of this this term, something also tells me that you’ve went through the story on a heavy armor class character, the light armor class is such a different take on the game where you do die so much more often in the story.

The problem is not so much with the difficulty but more with ANET’s design where they like to overwhelm you with numbers, be it health %, damage % or sheer numbers – this has existed in the original GW too.

What also adds to the problem is that in this game you never ever really feel powerful, unlike traditional mmorpgs you can over level, and in each new zone/stage you visit you tend to more powerful than your foes – with the scaling (which makes you significantly more weaker if you over level and don’t wear that current level gear), you fall over much more often and frequent that you’d expect… especially when the NPC’s call you “hero” and given you their highest rank in the 3 factions….

What adds to the problem is “legendary” heroes like Caithe and Rytlock lying knocked out for 80% of a fight whilst I kite around an enemy. I am definitely the most powerful person in the world when the heroes of the fabled Destiny’s Edge can’t stay alive.

We HAVE seen Southsun and the Labyrinthine Cliffs. A large part of Divinity’s Reach HAVE been reworked as have Southsun.

You’re conveniently missing out the donations to the rebuilding and to the strengthening of the Lionguard. The Lion statue didn’t pop up from nowhere, it was rebuilt and that during a longer period.
You’re failing to see that there are new permanent minigames.
You’re ranting about things you don’t even know.
You’re arguing that events are going to be recycled before you even know.
ANet has said that that is not the case.
You left and you missed it. Boo hoo. Poor you.

And if it’s not “hard” to make Super Adventure Box, you really need to read up on how game developing works. Furthermore it’s not “8-bit-stuff”. It’s a fully 3-dimensional game world that needs concept, design, textures, models, music, sounds, scripting, artificial intelligence. It needs the complete construction of the actual environment, it needs balancing, testing, rebuilding, rebalancing, retesting etc.
And I’ve still probably forgotten something.
That it contains alot of 90-degree corners doesn’t make it any easier. There are countless tools to make terrain effortlessly where you literally pull out a mountain with your mouse and it looks all smooth and nice.

Furthermore it’s alot easier to make content for Guild Wars than for Guild Wars 2.
Guild Wars lacks functions that are vital to Guild Wars 2, for example jumping. Just a small thing like that affects the whole world and makes it alot more complicated to make because you have to take it into account when you’re making the world.
“Should the player be able to jump up this hill? No? Then how do we make it natural, without invisible walls and still disallow jumping up it?”

That said.
I’m not arguing for or against ANet’s choices or priorities.
Yes, I’d like more permanent stuff and more stories and more content and better content and nice reworks etc.
But your basing your rants on stuff you have no idea at all how they work. You’re not reading up and thus missing information that you ignore. You’re pretty much the prime example of how not to argue and that’s why I’m writing this.

Read up.
Take both sides of the coin into account.
Base your arguments on fact, not fiction.

Living Story Lore vehicle needed.

I can agree that to some extent the Living Story issues that some people (including myself) comes down to patience, but how much patience is needed?

We’ve been following these plots since January/February (unless you want to go back to Southsun/Halloween) and the Aetherblades and Scarlet aren’t much different from Team Rocket. I don’t have a reason to care about either of them – they pop up to attack for the sake of attacking and their motivations are non-existent, shallow or unknown (it doesn’t matter which because after this long all three are the same).

We have a world threatened by dragons and we are spending month after month blasting off the Aetherblades. The story has given me no reason to care about Scarlet or the Aetherblades (and I still don’t understand what the Molten Alliance are supposed to be about other than a convenient army).

The boring or shallow characters (I can understand this is, to a certain extent, subjective) don’t help things, but the story itself isn’t very engaging. When I was watching Lost there were mysteries in every single episode, unexplained events and seemingly unconnected things which often came together in an exciting way. The thing that’s different about Lost compared to the Living Story is that I cared about and was invested in the show, the characters and the plot the entire time. I didn’t have to wait for the season finale for the show to give me something engaging, to give me a reason to care about what was happening, it was there all the time, the big reveals and the moments of clarity were the pay off, but the show was usually engaging without them.

One of the things about GW2 is that it’s an entire world we can explore, it’s not a TV show with selected scenes and full control over what the audience sees (so if the game is the entire island, we can explore most of it, with the TV you can hide the others and the tail end survivors, in Lost the MMO you can’t). You can’t tell the same story in an MMO that you can in a TV show. MMOs are whole worlds, we can explore the Flame Legion territory when the story deals with them, we can visit their part of the world and see what they are up to. When a big situation like the Molten Alliance arises, it feels shallow when the rest of the world is business as usual (and the “Living World” doesn’t quite feel alive). When Scarlet has some supposed back story involving all these masters, it’s surprising that no-one has ever mentioned her prior to now, and few (if none) of her masters even mention her in the game.

When Winds of Change was happening in GW1, entire maps changed. Zones had new mobs which represented the old conflicts in the story being resolved, but also new conflicts arriving. As you progressed through the story, NPCs around the world had special dialogue which uncovered new parts of the mystery. A lot of the back story of Reiko, Miku and Ashu was told in random NPC conversations (hint: you could have done this with Scarlet’s background), it was a mystery you could follow with each update and it helped sell the idea that this conflict involved the Canthan people and the idea that the world was alive and changing based on the events that occured. There was also a much stronger focus on mission sized quests which carried the core parts of the story, something I don’t think the Living Story does very much of. The face of Cantha changed significantly in a similair period of time to what has passed for the Living Story this year. Aside from quality of life changes and tonnes of mini-games, the Tyria of August 2013 is almost identical to the Tyria of August 2012. The world doesn’t feel very alive, part of the problem is the temporary content, part of the problem is that the bulk of updates seems to be mini-games and part of the problem is that the story isn’t giving us much to care about. I cared about Zei Ri very early on. I don’t care about a lot of the Living Story protagonists (given how little has happened so far, there are probably too many of them already) and I certainly don’t care about Scarlet.

Necromancer Leveling

in Necromancer

Posted by: Anchoku.8142

Anchoku.8142

You can mostly wing-it. Traiting power, vitality, and toughness are probably your best bets. Precision does not do any profession much good at low levels because you need a bunch to proc critical hits with any regularity. For that reason, traiting the crit bonus adjustment is also kind of useless, in general, at lower levels.

The staff is an all-purpose weapon with good range you can use. If you learn to use staff on yourself when you are close to a mob, then you get regeneration pretty frequently. After dropping your marks from staff, switch to another weapon and do more direct damage. The staff auto-attack is slow and lame. Dagger is extremely short range but relatively powerful, axe is next longer and applies vulnerability (especially handy if you have minions taking advantage of it), and scepter pretty much cannot miss allowing you to kite while bleeding it to death.

For weapons and armor, power and condition damage improve dps the most while toughness and healing are the better defensive stats. Necromancer has a relatively large amount of vitality so healing skill helps fill the pool up faster (if only marginally so.) The vampiric traits in the vitality line also help steal health so do not neglect it.

Necromancer or Elementalist?!? *pulls hair*

in Necromancer

Posted by: Xruptor.3965

Xruptor.3965

Hey all,

I’ve leveled up an Engineer and Mesmer to 80. Now I would like to work on another character. I’m torn between the Necromancer and Elementalist. Although, to be fair I’ve always favored Necromancer sort of classes in other games and especially in GW1. So I’m leaning towards Necromancer. That being said, I do have a few concerns and would like to see what sort of advice I get.

It would appear that the Necromancer has a lot of DOOM AND GLOOM surrounding it on this forum. It really has shocked me at the amount of negativity the class has. Then again I’m not an idiot and I do know that the majority of people posts on forums because they have something negative to say. I can’t remember where I read this, but it’s something like 3% of an MMO’s population ever post on the forums or something. So I’m not expecting a whole lot One can hope though!

1) The amount of negativity the profession has, has for a bit swayed me away from the profession. (Which is why I started looking into the Elementalist.) Is the Necromancer really THAT bad and should I stay away from it? Or do I take my own advice and just ignore everyone here, since people are just merely complaining for the sake of complaining? Honestly, would like to get some constructive feedback on this. The oddest part is the Elementalist forums doesn’t seem to be as bad, and I see a whole heap of them in WvW. Where I barely see Necromancers, this could be because of the lack of burst. Not entirely sure…. (scratches head)

2) Switching around on the Elementalist attunements seems daunting and I don’t want to get cramps from playing a profession. Yet there is A LOT of flexibility and control once you get it down. Does the Necromancer have mobility and skill synergy with the rest of the skillsets? Will I get bored at a certain level and only use one build because that’s the only one available? I’ve leveled a Necromancer up to 17 and thus far it seems like a lot of fun. Yet, I don’t want to get bored halfway or even endgame because the class is lacking.

3) Damage, now I normally don’t care about this but reading some threads it seems the Necro suffers from dps issues. Primarily, because it’s an attrition profession (or so it appears to be). This is fine, I’m used to this because Necromancers are usually like this in other MMO’s. However, lots of people are saying that even for an attrition class the dps is still lacking. Is it because of the bugs?

4) Pets…… it seems for a class that utilize pets you would see more people use it. In fact I barely seem Necromancers use pets. Are they completely useless or broken? I don’t understand it, leveling up I’m doing okay with them. Seems that going higher up I may get frustrated and not use them at all. Again, some feedback would be nice

5) WvW, is the Necromancer class feasible in WvW and sPVP? Do they least bring something to the table or should I look at the Elementalist instead, since everyone and their mother has one? (No joke I see Elementalist in WvW so much it’s like roaches!) There has to be a reason why I’m not seeing many Necromancers.

6) Finally Survivability. Hands down the Necromancer has more Survivability then my Elementalist. It seems my Elementalist takes 2 or 3 hits and dies. I expect as much from a burst profession, but it does get aggrevating. Does the Necromancer survivability continue to be as good higher up and into endgame? Should I expect it to eventually flat out and be just as bad as the Elementalist?

Thanks for taking the time to read this! Hopefully, I get some polite and positive constructive responses I can use to make my final decision.

I look forward to the responses!

The 3 Types of Villains.

in Living World

CHIPS.6018

I made this thread to point out there there are 3 types of villains. In GW2, only the first 2 types were used on a consistent bases. The 3rd one (the best type in my opinion) is seriously lacking.

1) Ancient and Powerful Villains: Beings that are ancient and powerful. They are simply purely evil and beyond any kind of reasoning. Their followers are usually worshippers, corrupted/brainwashed by them or people who are too scared of their power to resist. This is the most boring type of villain.

Example:
http://villains.wikia.com/wiki/Elder_Beings

2) Greedy and Power Hungry Villains: These people wants money and power for themselves. They will kill anyone to achieve those aims. They are very simple to understand and usually enjoy doing the evil laugh. Their followers are usually after their money and power, or are too scaried to resist them. This is the classic “evil for the sake of being evil.”, which makes them fairly boring.

Example:
http://villains.wikia.com/wiki/M._Bison

3) Anti-Villains: These people fights for their version of self-righteousness. They often view themselves as good guys, or even heroes. They usually have some sort of respect for their foes. They might have followers who follows their point of view. This is by far the most interesting type of villains because they have a philosophy.

Example:
http://villains.wikia.com/wiki/Nagato/Pain

As you can see, type 1 villains are the Elder Dragons. Type 2 villains are the likes of Scarlet. Type 3 villains, as of today, doesn’t exist at all in GW2. It is my hope that we will see more, much more, type 3 villains in the future.

This is a must read:
http://villains.wikia.com/wiki/Villain

“Evolution Of Villainy
In the early days of media portrayal of villains (during the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries) it was common for a villain to be portrayed as the archetypal “cackling madman” with little to no redeeming qualities. However, as audiences and society in general, matured villains became a less superficial in nature and the idea of villainy was evolved. It became popular for a villain to share similar qualities to a hero. This gave birth to the anti-hero and anti-villain as well as the tragic villain. In fact in modern times many writers are encouraged to steer away from outright villainous individuals and instead are inclined to create antagonists that are more three-dimensional so as to serve a wider audience. It is worth noting many villains in cartoons and children’s media however retain the stereotypical villain. This is due to children’s shows and cartoons being geared toward younger individuals who are unable to fully understand deeper, more philosophical concepts associated with anti-heroes and tragic villains."

Dagger vs Life Blast

in Necromancer

Posted by: Lorelei.3918

Lorelei.3918

In my wvw death shroud build I run full valkyrie with just a smidge of zerker and a set of runes of the pack. This gives me 28% crit base before deathly perception. and 26k hp. While dagger does awesome damage if you have high crit chance you sacrifice a lot to get that precision stat up.

I would take my 26k hp necro that does 4-6k dmg hits at range to a 18k hp zerker dagger necro that does 8k at melee range. The crux is that by maxing vit and 30 into soul reaping, my DS HP is: 20451. 1% of 20451 is 204hp versus a 30/30/0/0/10 Dagger necro having about 10400 DS hp and 1% at 104 hp. While we produce life force at roughly the same rate percentage wise, not only do I start with twice as much hp, I get twice as much hp back pet hit. For instance one staff 1 ‘heals’ me for 816 hp.

In a fight the dagger necro has to get in range of me, not easy between multiple fears, chills, ect. Then he has to chew through 46k effective hp where I only need to lifeblast through 28k hp. Meanwhile I am regaining hp twice as fast as he is. So even if he had double dps, I would still win via lifeforce ‘healing’. Realistically, I can neutralize a lot of any melee enemies dps via kiting and skill. So I actually win hands down, even if my dps isn’t top notch.

I fought a very skilled mesmer not too long ago. He was that condi stacking build that is considered the best 1v1 build in wvw right now. Well, we fought for a very long time over a camp. Eventually he partied me and we talked. We agreed to a duel and we literally downed at the same time. Afterward he commented I was the first necro he could not beat. I’m not saying my build is the best 1v1 build for necro right now but I bet its pretty kitten close.

So don’t count out lifeblast. Even as a single target attack, range matters, and with the right build, you can even beat top notch players with it.

For me it doesnt feel like livingworld, for me a living world in gw2 looks more like this for example,

A dragon hit the sea creating a massive tsunami, submerging an existing map by half with water or a vulcano that starts erupting somewhere in tyria for example, also it should stay that way permanent.now after 2 weeks its gone.

What i mean is,It should be nice if they could redisign existing map’s into lw permanent,Now its like a small extra map with lw content after 2 weeks gone because of server limmitations probably.

Imagin in your rl living world they build a new school in your town, then you take a visit, gone lol, it was only for two weeks.

Tyria needs its newspaper.

in Living World

Starlight.6945

With the introduction of living world contents, Tyria needs a good news source instead of useless heralds around the town.

I think the living world content has its potential. I have no issue for them being temporary nor feel burden to complete all of achievements on time. Actually I believe, it fits the concept of “living world” – after all, we cannot participate in everything happening in this living world, right?

However, as a casual gamer who logs in irregularly, what bothers me is that no one and nothing in the game gives me much information about what is going on and what has been went on in the game.

It has been almost 2 months since I logged in last time, and as soon as I logged in, I found so much things have happened. The heralds talking about the Crown Pavilion, closing ceremony etc, but not much helpful since I had NO idea where/what place or this ceremony was about. While being confused, I just ran out into the Plains of Ashfield, then suddenly found weird zombie robots and bad guys named Aetherblades, whom I never encountered before. Also, on the left side of my screen I saw something about invasion of Scarlet’s minions under the global event named “clockwork chaos”. Who in the world is Scarlet? Why is she attacking? Are those new creatures her minions or what? With no information or whatsoever, these quests seemed rather unmotivating and even perplexing. I went back to herald, but he still repeated useless sentences, confusing me even more. Where the heck is the Crown Pavilion???? So finally, I gave up, did Alt-Tab, googled the Crown Pavilion and clockwork chaos on the web-browser to find the wiki page.

At the very moment when I had to get out of the game and had to start up the web-browser to read up the guides on wiki, it totally killed immersivity of the game, and this so called “living world” content appeared completely dead and uninviting, which was a big turn off.

With the introduction of living world content, I think it is a time for Tyria to have its authentic newspaper. It doesn’t have to be lengthy and updated everyday. However, at least with each update of the living world content, a newspaper containing a short article that well summarizes the previous living world content and an introduction to the upcoming one will be tremendously helpful for users to follow up and find the content more interesting.

Although it is not an MMO, I believe the Black Horse Courier in the Elder Scrolls: Oblivion serves as a great example. Allow users readily access the newspaper through heralds, and the archive of old papers at the book carts or newspaper stands. Also, if possible, sparing some space on the paper available for purchase with gem or golds by users/guilds to make server wide announcements may give another opportunity for Anet to encourage gem purchases and help Tyria appear a bit more lively.

BTW, I am not a good writer and sorry for my poor grammar.
Although I don’t know if my suggestion is feasible or even will be read by relevant folks at Anet, I really want to express my wish that this new concept of living world content will thrive to deliver unique experience that is not often found in many other MMOs.

Sigh I just want Necromancer to play like a unique profession, not a re-skin of all the other professions. I am with Nemesis on this. I don’t care if there are situations the job struggles with if there are also situations Necromancer excels at. Balance, to me, does not mean equal capability for every task. That sort of thinking discourages cooperative play. Instead, balance should be about creating tasks which reward cooperation using a variety of specialized builds and unique professional skills. If the only builds that are necessary to complete a dungeon run are berserkers, that is not my idea of balance. The same goes for WvW and TPvP. (I could not care less about yolo. If people want to prove their skills in1v1, then make them play identical builds on identical professions.)

If it’s the case that you want Chill of Death to process when the enemy is at or below 25% health and must be hit by the necro at that point, then an alternative description may have read:

“When an enemy is at or below 25% health, Cast Spinal Shivers on them with your next attack. This effect can trigger only once every 20 seconds.”

I agree, I think this is what the skill actually does. Unfortunately it makes it slightly less useful, especially if you are trying to catch someone fleeing the fight because they are low on health.

Well, I think you’ve proved my point satisfactorily now. Have fun whining.

Tyrecian.3456

As we move ever forward into year 2 of GW, the living story rolls ever onward. Whatever direction you are taking it, we as players need a place where the Lore of the living story exists for returning and confused, or even nostalgic players.

Some out of the way place in Lion’s Arch that details what happened: a councilman’s death, an investigation, aetherblades!, skyfolk, elections! As we move away from these events they will be harder and harder to explain to folks, and some players just won’t be able to make all the living stories, but will want to know what happened, from within the game.

I missed flame and frost, and have no idea what happened in that living story. I would love to be able to go somewhere, in game, and read about what happened. Who was affected and how did it end?

Not to mention the art that was included in the little noir short for the LA investigation event during dragon Bash. Or the dragon art. Tidbits…. they would not go amiss, and offer a permanence to the living story that we could use to visit and reflect.

I loved seeing the Queen become a mesmer’s joke in Faren’s arms. I think it would be sweet to be able to revisit that, or even show a new player sometime later when the pale tree sends sylvari to hunt that terrorist down what happened through a device in game.

It would be a kind of tatoo, a reflection of the living story that would last.

LS system is "burning" even great players.

We really apreciate all that hard work you’re putting into the Living Story, it is a compliment to say that you’re working TOO MUCH indeed, but the thing is, you’re doing it to a point where you’re burning your players, including some great ones like my guildmate that I’m starting to miss in the game. I won’t label myself as great, but I can speak from the perspective of a GWAMM, which means I got experience at completing hard achievements, and you’re putting too many tasklists in the game and it feels really wrong. Not to mention that you’re also puting hard content on short time frames (hard + temporal is a bad thing, hard is great, temporal is fine, both are super bad, imagine needing to complete Mallyx in a month).

You know what I really loved about GW1? That because it didn’t have monthly fees, I could stop playing for 2 months as I didn’t have to amortize it, and then return to it when I felt I wanted to. Of course you would have to work a bit after returning to keep up with other players, but you could do it and you could set the bar where you wanted because you wasn’t limited by constant tasklists. But now all this LS thing is giving a sense of missing the game experience if you don’t play a lot every month.

As I said, that is a good thing from a business perspective, but please, take into consideration that you might be “killing all your cows” for a big feast now, but you’re not considering to separate some of them to breed and have more cows in the future.

The system is already burning players, including many of the good ones that are the ones keeping the community going like this guildmate I told you (there are many other players that will play for a while, follow the trend, then jump to a different game, but you’re losing guys that were really dedicated to the game and loved it).

Please, strongly consider slowing down the pace, I’m not saying “no more LS”, it’s how you wanted to do things and it’s good to see our impact over the world, but I would like to return to the pace of events and achievements of Halloween and Flame and Frost. We have work to do and we want to enjoy the game because we LOVE Tyria.

Don’t eat your cows so fast, if you take care of them you will have more and bigger cows in the future

PS: About the “cows” stuff… english isn’t my first language so I’m not sure what kind of refrains you have, but I think the idea is clear :P

I’ve said before that I think a-net is working too much on LS for their own good. That the system at first might be the best way to keep people in the game as you constantly make them work toward new tasks, but that on the long term it would burn players as the pace of LS and achievements are starting to feel more like tasklists with an end date than a game. When we finish working hard in the real world, we don’t want to work more in our free time.

There was a time many months ago (too many now) where the pace was about right. You could dedicate some time to it, and the tasklist wasn’t so big (Halloween was the way to go, or the F&F that was divided in 3 full months instead of having all arcs in the same one, which also gave a sense of world progression instead of a rushing story).

But right now the pace is too fast, we have things to do and hard work in real life and when we play we want to relax, not to be in tension to finish our task list.

Worst part is that now with the 2 weeks content updates, they make the harder part of each story last less than the easier one (4 weeks for jubilee, 2 weeks for scarlet, 4 weeks for dragon bash, 2 weeks for aetherblade dungeon and its hard achievements, etc…).

But I’m starting this thread to share the story of a very good player on my guild. More specifically, a guy that already has 10K achievement points, so you can’t say he is a bad players, a newbie, someone that tried the game but wasn’t much into it or anything else. He is a great player and it’s great to have him in all kinds of content.

A couple of days ago, I received some mail from him with very valuable stuff for me and what looked like a goodbye text.

I asked him about that and he told me he would still connect for our guild weekend missions and things like that, but that LS had finally burned him, that he was expecting the game to go in a very different direction and that he works too much time a day and he simply didn’t want to keep doing tasklists. He was disappointed with the direction the LS is taking throwing so much content our way and expecting us to finish it like we didn’t have works and projects to do too. We’re talking about a player that didn’t mind to dedicate a lot of time to the game before all this happened, so much that he had 10K achievement points because he was having fun with the game.

And while I’m trying to convince him to stay, I can’t say I don’t share at least part of his thoughs. Even I have though about it, about just ignoring LS because it is burning me. In my case I’m a GW1 God Walking Among Mere Mortals that finished all elite areas and all hard mode quests like the HM titans or winds of change. I am a completionist and I’ve proven before that I can excell at it (GWAMM isn’t exactly an easy task), and with all that, I’m starting to feel the need to rest from this game too.

“Rest” from this game. That’s a big problem. A game should be what you do to rest from work, not more work that you need to rest from.

Not sure if it counts as “permanent” content, but I’m here mostly for my awesome guildies. Like any game if you’re not playing with other people you like you probably won’t stick around long.

I liked Liadri. It was an achievement that actually took a few tries to beat, and meant something because of it.
You don’t have to do it. But “boycotting” for its removal is selfish, really. There are tons of easy things in this game. Do those if you enjoy those. But for players who want challenges, this is one of the few things we can do.
