Don’t force your own beliefs upon others. If they enjoy that playstyle then it is none of your business to enforce your playstyle to anyone else.

If you don’t like the way someone plays then find likeminded individuals that you’re comfortable being around with.

At this rate...a big let down.

This entire thread reminds me of the end of Pirates of the Caribbean. “Two immortals locked forever in combat.”

I see the same people, day in and day out, arguing back and forth over subjective opinions that can neither be proven factually true or false.

Give it a break. You either like the game or you don’t. I enjoy the game a great deal. To you naysayers, it’s unfortunate that you don’t. That’s all there is to it.

Yeah, I agree with everyone else (not the OP :-)

For the past year we’ve had too much content that’s dependent on other people (or rather, getting into the right instance): Tequatl, Evolved Jungle Wurm, the Marionette fight, racing up the Tower of Nightmares, Crown Pavilion, triple Assault Knights, etc.

Dry Top is a nice balance.

Dry Top content is not about cooperation. Ok, there are a lot of people that help with the event. But there is no need to prepare your build accordingly to other party members. You don’t need to be on team speak or communicate in any other way.

Yep, and that’s great. This is what GW2 should be about, playing with others, but without a hassle or being forced to.

You know you’ve been playing GW2 too much when…

…you feel like dropping an AoE onto a herd of animals you see on Animal Planet.

…while taking a walk in the park, you can tell that that small tree is definitely choppable.

…you get excited when you hear “champion” on Eurosport.

…you say “Train?” whenever you arrive at a train station.

You know you’ve been reading GW2 forum too much when…

…you know you’ve seen the exact same thread about a hundred times before.

…you can tell how much sense a post will make by looking at the nickname.

…you are allergic to words “mounts”, “capes”, “guild halls”, “GvG” and “dueling”.

I like the think of the necro as being the ‘all around profession’. Meaning we can be a pet profession if we choose to be, we can be a power based one or a condition based one off our traits and gear. We have a class mechanic, while some complain about it, saves our skins more times than we can count. We have multiple ways of making people suffer and run in fear from us (seriously those WvW videos of the necro standing on top of the airship area and decimating a whole zerg make me giggle) We are one of the masters of AOE with multiple different ways of getting the job done. We are not by any means squishy, though thats what I’d name my elite minion if I could name him

Yes we have problems, a general lack of stability and our best AOE are on a stupid long cooldown and the whole game seems to think all we can do is condition damage so we get labeled as useless in party play. We don’t have banners or shouts or spirits for group benefit, we are more of a take profession than a give one (though to an extent we can clear other’s conditions if we spec for it). Our AOE heal of Well of Blood really should be a water field, not sure why they made it a light one? The fields we can lay down are mostly useless to other players and when overwriting a fire/water field, you can get snapped at.

It’s more of being a jack of all trades and fears but master of none that hurts the image of the profession. Too many impatient people who only want a few warriors/ele/guard in their quick run parties. There are plenty of casual groups out there who just want to run the dungeons and not at breakneck speed.

I had a thought the other day when talking to guildies about how many thousands of wvw badges/frac relics we had and millions of karma with not really anything ‘useful’ to use them on.
I was wondering if they made a second currency you could buy gem store items with (not 1 off stuff like armour or weapon skins but items like wvw exp boosters, finishers or transmutation charges, also not stuff that you can profit from like keys or dies). this currency would be purchased with the items that generally aren’t needed in end game.
But as anet makes money from the gem store I can see them not being keen for this but just a thought I had.

Default Character Animations Spoil It All!

in Living World

(spoilers ahead)

Zephyrite’s ships have crashed, and Morning just died in front of Marjory. Obviously, that’s the best time for Marjory to check if her hair looks alright!

Marjory’s sister is dead, and Kasmeer is delivering the sad news to the rest of the team. Must not be such a big deal, though, as she’s casually stretching herself.

Usually I’m the last person to complain about immersion in video games, but default idle animations like these were designed to make characters look attractive and somewhat “hot”. So it’s not at all surprising that it looks utterly jarring in completely inappropriate situations, which we have a lot (and will have more every 2 weeks) in the new LS S2.

I suggest adding another “neutral” set of animations for all races and genders (at least females) which can be used in story instances and similar situations. As a semi-solution, this set may even be a part of the usual animation with the most “casual” parts cut out.

Rox, Kasmeer, Delaqua, Braham, Taimi party.

They feel more like a school trip rather than a well-seasoned adventuring party.

1) Taimi is a kid and prone to a lot of enthusiasm mistakes. Has no experience at all.
2) Rox is a deserter who fled the Legions and has disobeyed direct orders from his Tribune. He should be exiled in some deserted island. Has minimal experience.
3) Braham is a raged teenager with mommy issues who likes to break things that could be useful. Also has minimal experiences.
4)Kasmeer & Delaqua no serious issues, they seem to have experience, other than that they constantly talk about their love life. I dont care about their private life.

In short, this party has minimal experience and they only just starting their adventuring career now.

Too bad for Tyri, that the original Destiny’s Edge have retired (at their peak of their strength, now that Tyria faces its destruction. Yeah, bunch of losers?)

Now that Mordremoth, the Plant Dragon will expose himself soon, we cannot expect these 2 parties to save us.
Destiny’s Edge 1.0 has lose mentality and has retired, while Destiny’s Edge 2.0 has tremendous enthusiasm but almost no experience.

We need the Pact to save us.

The ones who presented us with plans in the fight against Zhaitan?

I don’t understand this.

First they give us guild missions, and said: “we will add more missions and even more mission types”. I though this would be amazing! new missions from time to time? Always something to do with guild!
They added 2 new puzzles and a few bounty targets in the next patch then nothing for more then a year?

They give us fractals, and said: “this is perfect platform for us to add more fractals, tell more story etc” I though this is amazing! New dungeon every month or something?
And they give us 1 new fractal after a year ( and 2 as a bonus from LS)

They give us PvP tracks, and said: we will add more, PvE gets something PvP will get new track too with new PvE rewards!
No new track added.

They said: we will add more skills! (we even add skill points in chmp bags so you have skill points to spend on this new skills! ) I though that this will be more then amazing! New skill every month? New build? New fun.
They added 1 new healing skill…

This is sad

Suggestion - Mobile Gaming

I’m not sure how well this will go down but here we go.

I work away from home quite often and it bums me out that I miss out on playing GW2 while I’m away, particularly when I am working towards something, like at the moment I’m working on a legendary.

I was thinking how cool it would be to have a mobile app tied to players accounts where you could play mini games for rewards such as silver or matts. Crafting could even be done through it as well. That way people can play in some capacity when they can’t access a PC with the full client on.

A Plethora of Ideas

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: DrAntagonist.8623

DrAntagonist.8623

I could not find any suggestion forum, so I assume this was the best location. Please inform me if I am incorrect with that.

Welcome to the personal suggestion thread I created from playing this game nonstop since I got it two weeks ago, and let me start off by saying this is hands down the best MMO I have ever played. That being said, I’ve noticed some things that could be improved upon, and I’m making this thread to get some opinions on my ideas.

1. Waypoint cost not increasing through warps.

For a few examples, if I’m in Lion’s Arch and I want to go to Rata Sum, it costs me (currently) about 2 silver, when if I warp to the Lion’s Arch portal hub, then walk to the Rata Sum portal, and then warp to the desired waypoint, that costs me nothing, except three loading screens. Same with waypoints on the direct other side of gates to new zones. My suggestion is to make the cost static based on any of these criteria:

1) Waypoint is directly adjacent to portal near other waypoint.
2) Waypoint is in a major city further from a different one. (Going from Metrica Province to Lion’s Arch would cost the same as going to Rata Sum)
3) Waypoint is in a different city than the one you are in (no cost)

This wouldn’t be that big of a deal, except my computer isn’t that good and the loading screens can take awhile sometimes, and I’m rather impatient.

2. Customizable HUD.

Basic things, such as rearranging the icons of your action bar, rearranging the currency order (Making Gems under Laurels, stuff like that), and most importantly, setting options for the Black Lion Trading Company alerts, such as only show an alert when I have X coins to pick up, or showing a preview of how much I have, perhaps in a partially filled coin, or a coin with a number by it.
Examples shown in attachment. Left would be either 1 gold to 1.99 gold, or to the nearest round. Right would be 50 silver. Excuse the sloppiness, I made it in about 2 minutes.

3. Removal of repair mechanics.

I understand that it used to be necessary to take money out of the economy, but why is it still here? It’s really more of a tedium than anything else, and if it was removed, all the repair canisters could switch to a different consumable, such as the revival orb.

4. Recipes being account wide instead of character.

If I go to the Festival of the Four Winds and purchase a unique recipe, only to later figure out “I don’t like playing as a Necromancer”, then I have to wait a year before I can acquire this recipe again.

5. Refer-a-Friend

I was unable to find any information on this, other than what appears to be a temporary period of a free game. I’m already telling all of my friends about this game, and small rewards to them and I would prove incentive for them to join.

6. Advanced graphics and performance options

As said earlier, I don’t have the best computer, but I can run the game fine. That is, until I go into World VS. World and there’s a zerg. It would be nice to be able to toggle things, such as “On entering WvW, x is lowered from z to y”, and more options to improve performance.

7. Simulation

Guild Wars needs more of a simulation aspect to it. The cityfolk keep talking about how it’s a dangerous time to be travelling, and you know what? They’re right. I want to live an uneventful life in a village, and when it’s attacked you would cower from the invaders while other players defended the village. Instead of making money from doing dungeons and acquiring items, you would make a living by planting crops and waiting a couple months for them to grow. Instead of armour conditions like “+7 power” you would have “+7 comfort” or “+12 warmth”. Eventually after a very long time of hard work, you would finally get the Legendary Field Plow.

8. Salvaging un-salvagable items for only upgrades

If I have a Karma item that I no longer need because I have leveled past it or found a better one, I would like to be able to salvage it to only receive the upgrades I put on it, and no materials, to avoid the obvious influx of easily-acquired materials.

9.

Having an option to add more things, such as showing what buffs you give people, useful for throwing elixrs.
Example shown in attachments as a 20 second Photoshop.

Also, more hotkeys, like to the Achievments tab instead of just Hero.
Also, a “Salvage all but better” and “Salvage all unequippable” button would be nice.

Any feedback is appreciated, but please be polite.

Bhawb,
What have you been working on lately? Even though some of the minion skills are lack luster. What is it that you are doing to make it work? I confess to not ever really running minions. but something about it interests me. If nothing more than a tool in the toolbox.

Spoj,
I know you have been playing your Ele more as of late. Do you still get in with your girl? Have you gotten a chance to try out the new Mai Trin with her?

I have been PLaying a bit with Leeto’s Dagger Shroud build in sPvP a bit and some in WvW. just cant seem to get the hang of it. But Condi seems so out of it with all of the removal everywhere? Is Power becoming a dominant concept? or is it just me that needs to be more open to adjustments based upon my chosen field of battle.

I struggle with every class right now. But it seems GS memsers have been particularly irritating.

What you think of as quests in standard MMOs are dynamic events in Guild Wars 2. That means that sometimes in the world, stuff will happen, and you can interact with the stuff happening.

In the old style you might see a guy standing by a field saying that ogres are going to attack his home and can you go kill ten ogres.

In Guild Wars 2, you’re walking by this home and suddenly these ogres are attacking it. You can just jump in and help. No quest needed. That IS a quest.

The difference here is that when you’re done with the quest, the ogres are driven off, not just standing around waiting for someone else to kill ten more.

It will repeat of course, but in the mean time, you’ve usually moved on.

One of the best games i have ever played

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: DzH Panda.5817

DzH Panda.5817

Guild Wars 2 looks beautiful. Its art direction is amazing. Its locations – while very stock fantasy in origin – are great. What really impresses though is its scale. The human city of Divinity’s Reach may not take up a vast amount of space in pure square-foot terms, but it does an amazing job of faking it. The districts feel big and (by MMO standards) bustling, especially your instanced Home part of it. The walls and homes and decorations tower above you, making it easy to imagine thousands of people living and breathing behind the scenes.

The most impressive bit though is when you climb high above it to the palace in the middle – a lush, beautifully designed area in itself – and glance up. Hovering above the whole city is a gigantic orrery with massive celestial bodies in constant motion. Nobody would have noticed if it wasn’t there, but it is, and like so much here, it looks absolutely stunning.

The scale is just as impressive wherever you go in the opening areas and capital cities, yet without ever seeming stretched out and padded. There are cliffs, and huge lakes, and sweeping panoramic views everywhere. This is a world you’ll want to explore in great detail, especially knowing that there are secret areas and hidden skill points and all manner of other stuff tucked away off the beaten track specifically to be discovered instead of pointed to.

One of Guild Wars 2?s coolest features is that all your weapon skills are embedded into the weapons themselves. A Staff for instance has different attacks to a Dagger, whether you’re casting spells or hitting people with it. You’ll find lots of other items scattered around the world too, which you can pick up and use appropriately. A bomb might be Planted or Thrown. A bottle can be used to hit someone over the head. In most cases that I saw, there’s no real reason to actually grab a length of 2×4 for combat when you already have the ability to SET PEOPLE ON FIRE WITH YOUR MIND, but it promises some fun options later on.

(For weapons, skills have to be unlocked. The good news is that this is done very quickly by simply using previous attacks the weapon offers a few times; the idea obviously being that you at least see them in action, even if you never choose to use them again.)

Make Ascended Gear usable for Alt Leveling

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Elothar.4382

I am sure that each of us has our own particular gearing strategy for leveling. I have leveled 10 characters to 80…at least one of each profession.

My strategy is pretty constant. I craft master (green) gear every 15 levels (20, 35, 50, and 65)…everything from weapons to armor to accessories. They do just fine with that. My only problem was with my elementalist and, to be fair, I am a lousy elementalist player.

There are other ways to be sure…getting karma gear or even buying gear from the TP but, at least for me, the current system seems to work okay.

Make Ascended Gear usable for Alt Leveling

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Highchu.3806

Highchu.3806

One of the things I hate most about leveling Alts (besides the new trait system) is the search for decent gear. Most players that have already reach 80 before don’t want to do it all over again starting from scratch. Why not allow those of us that have invested the time and gold into making Ascended/Legendary gear usable for leveling our alts. It would add more value and encourage Ascended crafting. Given the high price and minor stat boost between Exotic vs. Ascended the only real reason to invest in making it would be to either look cool or run high level fractals which seemingly not very many do. It could even help close the level gap from (80s only) dungeons and allow lower level players to function at equal/near equal effectiveness if its scaled correctly.

My idea is that it would be scaled down to Rare/Exotic quality gear for gear of that level. Additional attributes will also become available as you continue to level up like:

Ascended Berserker Gear
Lvl 1-20 (Power)
Lvl 21-55 (Power/Precision)
Lvl 56-80 (Power/Precision/Ferocity)

The only issue I can think of would be how Runes/Sigils would scale and stack. At least for me I never bothered putting on any until lvl 39 for Major components which still didn’t seem like it made a big difference.

Oh god no...
