Rollback on changes ETA?

Actually they may very well care what players think. But some players don’t think the changes are bad and I’m one of them. I didn’t like the initial trait changes, and think they need work. But this recent change is better for me as an altoholic.

OP, you might not understand why, but I wouldn’t want to go back to how it was. I prefer this current method (though the trait system still needs serious adjustment).

Dear colleague

You should choose a quiter place, preferably innacessible. From time to time there an attack but nothing too hard.

I invite you at the end of the Skipping Stones jumping puzzle. You might help me to kill all those cheater using invisibility to get my chest. Of course frome time to time a zerg come but that is part of the game.

Otherwise it is a very quite place and I often win.

Op,
This is clearly an L2P issue.
Maybe look at your build and try to change it up a little (it may throw off the campers game). I hear Defiler or Corrupter have had some success at breaking camp spawns.
Clearly you are not elite, but with practice and patience maybe someday you you make it.
Finally I want to close with saying – we can’t all be Champions, but you can still play like one.

I’m not usually one to complain on forum but this is too much.
I can accept being chain killed by campers a few times but this has been going on for literally weeks now.

I’m doing ok on 1v1 but they always zerg me, chaining interrupts as soon as I respawn leaving me no chance of survival whatsoever. My playtime came down to only a couple of seconds every 2 minutes or so.

Please ANET do something to stop the abuse.

  • Ascended gear and the incompetence with which it was implemented. Over 1 year ago there was a dev post that stated the remaining missing stat combinations for ascended trinkets would be released in the following update (E.G. Carrion and a few others). This never happened. Something that should literally take 5 minutes of development time to add has taken over 1 year to implement and has received no further acknowledgement.
  • Giving away all of Living Story Season 1’s reward items at the most recent Queen’s Pavillion event. I am glad that players are able to earn these if they weren’t there for the event as I feel all items should be possibly obtainable by all players — this isn’t my problem. My problem is them at the time constantly telling us our ability to get these items was during a limited time only therefore causing me to play when I would have rather been doing other things during a few of the events. Because China.
  • Feeling like one large beta test for China. With giving away LS1 events because of the Chinese client, and now with the many recent efforts to align our client with the China client such as the terrible new player experience, it often seems like we were just the beta test before they launched in the market they actually cared about.
  • Never wanting to level an alt again. This was one of the last nails in the coffin. With the trait revamp where you must unlock them or buy them, and now with the NPE, I couldn’t see myself having any fun at all leveling an alt. I already felt like the trait system was bland and generic, but now this seals the deal.
  • Getting nerfed every patch. My main character that I play is a Thief, and while although I will concede the class was too strong in some areas, it did not justify receiving a nerf literally almost every single patch since the game’s release. It was nerfed to be the only class without a 1200 range attack early on, and countless nerfs later, including nerfs to skills that were clearly never good to begin with, makes the class feel like a husk of it’s former self. Here is a quick, now outdated example for your reference. You’d better believe Last Refuge still exists though.

In closing, I would like to thank all of you that have read this far and I feel much better now that I have summarized on paper all of the frustrations I have had that have made me give up on this once very beloved game. Please feel free to comment with your thoughts or add your own bullet points to the list.

TL;DR: Anet doesn’t want you to have rewarding content. Gem store sucks. Don’t expect new dungeons or Super Adventure Box anytime soon. A balanced economy is more important than your gaming experience. Living Story dictates all design decisions. Leveling an alt is terrible. Contributions in combat feel pointless. We are the China beta. Thieves get nerfed.

Giving Up

Lunaire.5827

After a culmination of many upsetting recent design decisions and updates, I am giving up on the game. I decided to write a bullet point list of many of the most major reasons as to why, partly in hopes that ArenaNet wants the feedback, and partly to write it out as a form of stress relief as I was very attached to this game. I also invite anyone else in this thread to do the same if they so desire.

In no particular order:

  • Nerfing the second release of the Queen’s Pavillion so that none of the mobs dropped any loot. I had looked forward to its re-release all year as I had major fun farming the event, only to see that the event had changed and required you to actually pay gold to start it. This, along with the Queensdale nerf and the Frostgorge Sound nerf made it very apparent that ArenaNet would nerf any rewarding aspect of the game, likely so that you would feel more inclined to convert gems to gold.
  • Reading the many responses of the resident economist in the Black Lion Trading subforums. While although I appreciate his attempt to communicate with the playerbase, his responses also make it very apparent that the economic design of the game is not going to change anytime soon and the most profitable way to play the game will surely always be to play Wall street Simulator 2014 (AKA the trading post). It is also clear based on his input that ArenaNet’s stance is to maintain what is considered a ‘healthy economy’ even at the expense of player happiness or enjoyment within the game. Quite frankly I could care less about the economy being healthy from an economist’s standpoint if it jeopardizes the amount of fun I can have while playing the game.
  • The recent interview in which ArenaNet flat out said that they are not working on any more dungeon content. Dungeons are one of my favorite things to play and they have not been expanded upon past fractals since the game’s release. The interviewees cited the Twilight Arbor Aetherblade path as being a lot of work, which must mean the developers are so lacking on resources that they cannot possibly hope to make any meaningful content. Let’s be real here — this wasn’t even a new dungeon, but rather a single path inside of a pre-existing dungeon with reused character models. If this is ‘heavily taxing’ for the developers, I have no hope of ever seeing a meaningful new dungeon.
  • The recent interview in which ArenaNet said they have no plans to update Super Adventure Box in lieu of it not fitting into the Living Story, paired with the terrible decision to withold the already-existing SAB content from the player base. This was quite literally my favorite part of the game.
  • Terrible, terrible writing and dialogue that is too lighthearted to ever take seriously. I have heard that this has changed for the better in Season 2, but I could care less about Living Story.
  • Speaking of which, Living Story being the only meaningful source of updates. WvW players can just take a hike because their favored gameplay element does not fit into the flawed vision of ‘Living Story’, so don’t expect updates anytime soon.
  • Gem store being the only real source of new ‘rewards’. Sure, there is the token backpack thrown out here and there, but the new in-game rewards never hold a candle to what can be bought in the gem store. For a game that is supposedly focused on earning aesthetic rewards, this is a dealbreaker that the coolest new gear is always in the gem store. I’d also be curious to tally up the number of individual armor pieces released for the gem store and compare them to the number of pieces released in the actual game.
  • Bland combat while feeling pointless. While although I feel like Guild Wars’ core combat is better than any other mmo I have ever played, it feels totally unrefined in many ways and I never feel meaningful in any encounter because there are no roles. I don’t necessarily want to go back to the ‘holy trinity’, but when I heard there wasn’t one, it made me assume that any class could fulfill any role that you wanted. But this isn’t true — want to be a healer? Nope. Want to be a tank? Nope. Want to be support? Nope. DPS or go home — which means you never make any personal unique contributions to any group scenario, and leads to the constant meta of berserker gear or lose.
  • Diminishing returns. Legendary items require thousands of materials — but why would they let you farm them when they could instead try to get you to convert gems to gold?

WAIT I CAN’T.

Why the heck can we not salvage ascended gear? Am I just supposed to let it collect dust in my bank?

I don’t understand great big farewell posts.

Why do people have to say goodbye like they are dying and will never play the game again? Just take some time away, play something else, check back every once in a while to see if changes are happening then start playing again when it looks like some of your concerns are being addressed.

Not to mention that if you do come back it makes your post seem really silly and self serving. There is a reason why “farewell” posts are not allowed.

In almost every case, they are purely cries for attention, and absolutely nothing more.

Try the new leveling before you critique it

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Darkchief.5468

Darkchief.5468

First off let me say that after reading about the leveling changes yesterday both here and on reddit, I was up-in-arms and as ready to hate it as most other people seem to be. But, I decided to wait to play it before I judged. I’m glad I did.

I would consider myself a “veteran” player. I have played since beta, and have four level 80’s. I know how to dodge, I’m not an idiot, etc. So I have good reasons to be angry about level-gating and hand-holding. But after playing a new character from levels 1-8 (and will be doing 8-15 tonight), I have discovered a few things:

1. There is a TON of misinformation about what was changed, what is level-gated, etc.
2. Low levels go a lot faster. Leveling from 1-7 took me about 30 minutes, so even the stuff that is level-gated I hardly noticed.
3. There are definitely some things that still need to be changed/fixed.
4. The new leveling system works. I play all melee/ranged classes. Historically I have a mental block for casters for some reason. I made a caster class last night and the slower skill unlocks allowed me to get comfortable with what I had before I was introduced to something new.

Good things the leveling system does:
1. The “Information Rewards” when you level up. This is where a lot of the misinformation about level-gating has come from. Many of the features aren’t actually gated, you can still use them, the game just introduces you to them one at a time. This prevents information overload on new players while not hindering people who are willing to tinker around the world and the UI and find things themselves.
2. The compass (when it works). I have had friends come from WoW or similar MMOs and been unable to cope with how differently you level. They couldn’t grasp that exploration rewards you and that aside from the few hearts on each map there aren’t quests. I can see how the compass could help those players get acclimated to doing events, POIs, etc.
3. The skill unlocks. While I really liked the idea of using a weapon to unlock the skills, unlocking each skill at a certain level gives new players time to learn how to use them (And because each low level takes about 5 minutes, it isn’t that bad).
4. Personal story unlocks. This is just speculation, but I think I will like this a lot more. It always seemed weird to me that something climactic would happen in a PS chapter but then we would have to go feed some cows before going to save someone’s life. With each chapter unlocking all at once, I think it will feel more cohesive.

What needs to be changed/fixed:
1. Skill challenges. I don’t see any reason to lock players out of activating these. They should be like the POIs and Vistas, accessible but not shown on the map until X level.
2. The compass (when it doesn’t work). There were certain areas where the compass would freak out and switch objectives every 10 steps or so. Obviously this creates confusion. There is also the problem of it sending players to places above their level.
3. Veteran player options. It would be nice if you have a level 80 already that some features come already unlocked (POIs, Vistas, gear rarities, offhands, etc.). In addition, it would be nice to be able to get rid of the compass if you don’t want it.

Overall, just give it an hour of your time and try it out. An informed opinion is going to be taken a lot more seriously than an uninformed opinion.

Misconceptions regarding Level gating.

There are definitely bugs and some external miscommunication with the system and I want to listen some more before discussing.
Chris

This is interesting.

Chris is saying there has been external miscommunication about the new system. Could it be that you guys realize you went too far with the removing of functions and level gating it too extreme, and it was not supposed to dumb down the game quite this much?

Hi Traveller,

No not really. I m referring to some videos etc that aren’t quite factually correct in all areas and thus there are some misconceptions being propagated by those that have not played the through NPE yet.

Chris

Don’t want to de-rail the thread this was in so I thought I would clear this comment up a bit by starting a new topic.

There is some misconception about a lot of things that are level gated videos/some comments don’t tell the entire story. A lot of things that people think is level gated actually is not. This is due to the UI shows a Unlock symbol on some of these items. But in reality just like WvW and sPvP you can still preform the actions at Level 1. You are just unlocking the hint about the items.

The following are level gated items:

  • Weapon skill 2 (Unlocked at level 2)
  • Weapon skill 3 (Unlocked at level 3)
  • Profession skill F1 (Unlocked at level 4)
  • Rally(downstate) (Unlocked at level 5)
  • Off-hand weapon slot (Unlocked at level 7)
  • Weapon skill 4 (Unlocked at level 7)
  • Underwater Combat (Unlocked at level 8 with underwater weapon skills 1 and 2)
  • Personal story (Unlocked at level 10 in chapters every 10 levels)
  • Weapon skill 5 (Unlocked at level 10)
  • Utility Skill 1 (Unlocked at level 13)
  • Underwater skill 3 (Unlocked at level 14)
  • Weapon Swap (Unlocked at level 15)
  • Down Skill 3 (Unlocked at level 19)
  • Profession skill F3 (Unlocked at level 22)
  • Underwater skill 5 (Unlocked at level 23
  • Utility Skill 2 (Unlocked at level 24)
  • Profession skill F4 (Unlocked at level 24)
  • Adapt Tier Traits (Unlocked at level 30)
  • Elite Skill (Unlocked at level 40)
  • Master Traits (Unlocked at level 60)
  • Grandmaster Traits (Unlocked at level 80)

The following items are not locked but do not appear on the minimap until the specified level.

  • Points of Interest (level 7)
  • Gathering Nodes (Level 9) – Nodes may have been removed in areas before this level. No there is no potato famine there is plenty of potato in Metrica Province.
  • Vista (level 10)

Please note I do not necessarily agree with all of the changes. Specifically the changes to unlocking of weapon skills please see my feedback at the following link.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Learning-Curve/first#post4389552

All other items that are being reported as level locked are likely not. If you have a question about a particular item feel free to discuss it.

If you think I missed some or my information is incorrect please feel free to tell me so I will research it then inform you the results. I currently have enough characters spaced out on levels enough that I can get to most of the levels in a somewhat timely manner.

The majority of my source is http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Level_rewards and me playing with the system itself yesterday to level 10.

I wasn’t sure where to post this, since I’m not sure if this is a bug, oversight or an intentional move. If anyone has an answer as to why these have been removed, could they please explain why?

Downscaling + new system is weird

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tulki.1458

Tulki.1458

Tried a little experiment with the new system.

At level 21, in a level 17 zone. I hit level 22 and got +40 to all base attributes. Whoo, now I’m more powerful! This turned out to be about +35ish due to the downscaling but still. More powerful.

Then I hit level 23 in the same area, and lost 8 power and 7 from my other stats. Then I gained another level… and lost 8 power and 7 from the other stats. Wait a minute. What?

With the old system, downscaling made you weaker, but it was gradual as you levelled. With this one, you get a huge spike in stats that makes the game easier, but between these big stat spikes the game difficulty rises quickly. It doesn’t make any sense at all. Going from level 22 to 23 caused me to lose 80 max HP. It’s very weirdly designed. With all the stuff introduced in this patch about introducing new players, this change in particular makes absolutely no sense. The game difficulty wobbles violently from level to level.

Red, Blue, and Yellow are the primary colors for ink/paint. Example would be ink for a color printer: Magenta (red), Cyan (blue), and Yellow.

Red, Blue, and Green are the primary colors for light. Example would be old rear-projection TVs if you look inside it.

Have to be careful with definition of White and Black as well since their definition swaps between Ink and Light. Example would be combining all colors in ink makes Black, but combing all colors in light makes White.

This guy was level 2 at the beginning of the vid and level 3 by the end, so not sure where you get level 10 from. Also, since day 1 we’ve started with only 1 skill, then as we use skill 1 to kill things, skill 2 would come in, then skill 3, etc. So not sure what the problem is, unless I’m missing something.

Suggestion: Titles should give effects!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Orpheal.8263

Orpheal.8263

I’d support this idea, when the titles would give effects like these:

Achiever Titles = Raises Magic Find by +1%, so wearing the Title Ascended Achiever would give you +10% MF

Been Here Done That = Raises Karma Gain by 10% from Dynamic Events
Birthday Titles = Raise Gold Find by +2%, so a 5 year old Character would get 10% more Gold from killed Monsters
Slayer = Lets a little Fanfare play, when you kill someone in PvP
Champion Slayer = Lets a longer different Fanfare play, when you kill someone in PvP
Rankpoint Titles = Increase the Rankpoints your get by +1 to help a bit decreasing the Rankpoint Grind
Champion Class Titles = Change their Finishing Moves to s special Class Related Finisher that you will see also only when you use this title with the fitting class.
Master Crafter Reduces Costs for you for Crafting Materials from NPCs by 20%
Golden = Increases the Chance, that enemies drop gold as loot by 10%
Dungeon Master = Increases your Token Rewards from successfull done Dungeons by +10
Twice-Told Legend = Increases Experience Gain from Dynamic Events by 10%
The Emperor = Reduces the Cost of Tokens for Dungeon Armor by 10%
Fashion Collector = Increases the chance to get more valuable Luck Essences out of salvaging Equipment that you have already collected by +10%
Miniature Collector = Your Miniature will loot for you, if you have this title active.
Combat Healer = You obtain Karma now also when you revive someone.
The Sunbringer = Deal +10% extra Damage to undeads and additional 5% against Tequatl
Great Djungle Wurm Slayer = Deal +10% extra Damage to Wurms and additional 5% against Wurm Heads of the Tri Wurm
Wurm Bane = You are immune against that Illness from Wurm Spit
Hall of Monuments Titles = You perform special Finishing Moves, while you have these titles on.
Kegmaster = Increases Karma Gain from Keg brawls by 20%
Omnomnivore = plays a loud belch, when you win a Belcher Bluff Match.
As long as WvW Titles Achievements don#t get redesigned, ints pointless to talk about these Titles.
——

Hero of Lions Arch = Works like the Alliance Potion, letting you deal additional 10% more damage agaisnt Toxic, Fiery and Aetherblade Enemies ect and gain more Exp from them plus in this case, also Karma for their Kills.
Sanctum Sprinter = Gain 20% more Karma from won Sanctum Sprints
Crab Toss Champion = Gain 20% more karma from won Crab Toss Matches
Crabgrabber = Perform a special Crab Finisher when you use this title.
Southsun Stalwart = Gain more Craftign Materials from the Material Nodes in Southsun Cove
Volunteer = +10% more Experience from Kills
Avenger of the Dispossessed = Gain daily some small Karma for talking with NPCs in the Hoelbrak Region.
SAB Titles = Reduce slightly the Bubble Costs in SAB should it come back.
The Blazing Light = Perform a special Finishing Move useable only with this title being active
Paid Tournament Titles = unique Finishers useable only with this title.
God walking amongst mere mortals = unique finishign move useable only with this title active.

Thats the kind of effects I’d like to see for those titles, nothing way too special, mostly only finishing moves assigned to the titles which are clearly cosmetical.
And those, that give some little damage benefits, are titles, which are free to get for everyone. Or it are little QoL effects, that reduce the grind of the game.

Personally I like the idea behind sub classes ~ quoted from Chris Whiteside

Ok, to give Titles more like a meaning instead of just words above ppl’s heads, they should activate “effects” on the hero using it.

Exemple:

Combat Healer: Using this title make you rezz fallen heroes for (x)% additional speed.

Veteran of the Mists: +(x) dmg to lords and guards.

and so on…

PvP Titles should get an exclusive finishing stomp, or exemple:

Ravager: “Using this title gives you a chance (very little) when hit, to strike Fear to your enemy”

tho, this could be considered op, but i think titles would be fore fun, and adding more feature to the game.

Eh, this forum is super dramatic. The only game mode necromancer lacks in is dungeons. They do fine in everything else.

call it nothing..
why should i log off and roll another toon (let’s face it, if you are not a warr, guard or ele you will be discriminated) if i want to do some dungeon/fractal run?

Because those things can be run regardless of your class?

Granted, it is suboptimal, and I would not deny that, but I still do Fractals 50 with my guild whenever I want to.. Could I play all the other classes? Frankly, I can, got them all geared out and ready to go – but in the end it matters jack since we do not “speedclear” it, we just get the job done and get our kittenty blues and greens in the end…

He is right, you people are overdramatizing things… If it is that bad that Anet has done nothing for PvE Necromancers (But come on, this content can be done on a freaking turret engi if you chose to), then raise your voice and come up with ample solutions to the problem rather than “Necro is bad, bye bye”…

Besides, in the end, Necromancers are not at fault, PvE combat is… Necromancer has some incredible niches, which are not suited in PvE at all, Boon Corruption, Condition Spreading, Weakness, DPS with heavy sustain thanks to DS mean absolutely nothing within the current implementation of combat

So what i wanne say is, people always say gw had no end game and still have no end game, but the end game is what you make of it.
You lvl up with the new feature pack coming it will be mutch more rewarding, so mutch more fun. ( who don’t like more rewards :p)
But at lvl 80 it stops for most people, NO END GAME, NO END GAME, that is al that you hear, and nothing in the feature packs for end game.

What i wanne say is, the end game was there from the start.
I don’t say there was a little bit less at the start, but it was there.

You could do dungeons, lvl crafting, get legendary weapons, world completion, wvw + levling wvw, pvp, events, world bosses, personal story, then get ascended weapons and gear, new dungeon the mist that have so much lvl’s.
Then there was the living story every 2 weeks updates you get for free.
With other games you have to wait 6months or a year to get something and you have to pay for it.
Then there was the feature packs, collecting armor and weapons.
then you get new zones like carca zone, now dry top that still is not the whole zone.
And the next feature pack will be much more you get, new weapons and armor, pvp armor, i forgot the rewards in pvp you get with the previous feature pack, mini pet collection, the new collecting system, there is so much end game now, way so much.

And what do people say, " there are no raids so no end game" ^^ al the people that say that don’t know gw, don’t now the way arenanet works and have to go play WOW.

The end game is right in front of them, but they just don’t see it.
I just wanne say gw is a good alternative, unique, special game.
Just look further than what you know as your typical mmo, gw is more than a copy and it will never be.
