Paywalls are bad. It divides the player base into haves and have nots. This isn’t some F2P Turbine game (“Please insert $5 to unlock this dungeon.”). Rather buy all my expanded content as an expansion than being nickled and dimed for each little bit of it.

They have metrics for where GOLD comes from in this game. This is literally to keep the economy in the same position it is at now.

If they have and if this metric has told them that the most gold is aquired through events, they are simply wrong.

They have all the Numbers, but since what they do, to address what their numbers tells them hurts what you do…. THEY are wrong??? hahahahahaha

Most self-serving argument…. ever!!!

What is the reason of nerfing the event rewards? Did the players got too much gold from it? Please, if they want to lower the goldincome, they should have started with the TP flippers and the dungeons. Farming events to get the gold is the most stupid thing I could think about simply because the current event rewards are near zero. So why nerf eventloot again? It will hardly have any impact.

The problem is, that the risk/reward for doing Champ Trains is out of whack.
too little risk as newbies run around pressing the w key to follow… then the 1 key to auto attack.. and an occasional dodge. Too much reward for the lack of risk from champion bags + loot + event reward.

Everyone says " the rewards for doing events suck as it is." I keep asking why is it that from the Moment I log in… all I read on map chat is.." Where is the championn train?" " Is there a Champion train?" or " Some people are taking the Champions out of yturn " and they would say the names..One wonders if some were maybe taking down the names and Putting them on a " do not help " list or something?

" Jo Shmo is taking the Champ troll out of turn… guys…remember that."

The entitled attitude may also have something to do with it. Some people seem to feel that ONLY the Champion Train owns all the Champions… they actually try and shame players for fighting the Champs out of turn." so and so is greedy taking the troll by himself… he peobably doesn’t Like to share in RL either." I am serious… people on the Champ train say these things.

So yes, I think anything the devs do to nerf the champ train is a good idea. The fact that it " may have unintended consequences" is no argument for doing nothing. Almost everything has unintended consequences.

We don’t talk about champtrains, we talk about the rewards normal events are giving. They are simply too low.
An event should give proper reward based on the time you spend to complete it.
You can get 1g through dungeonrunning in 15 minutes. Go ahead and try to get 1g with events in 15 minutes. It wont work, it wouldn’t be even close.
The loot you get from normal monsters is better than the reward you get from an event that’s blatantly unbalanced.

They aren’t reducing ‘loot’ per se, just the raw gold from events. Same with champ bags.

What ? Raw Gold ? Events give something like 1s 30c .. no matter how long it takes. All they can reduce is the “raw copper”. Even the quickest possible events are not worth the time reward wise.

Mine iron ore or chop some wood and you’ve made more than with one event.

I don’t understand what reducing the raw gold output from bags/events even accomplishes, few people are doing events as it is other than the champ trains, and let’s be honest, nobody does the champ trains for the raw gold output :|

So basically all this does is discourage everyone from doing all events except the champ trains.

And then anet wonders why we aren’t running around the world doing all the content they’ve made.

Does no one remember launch? The TP was down for 2 weeks, it was TERRIBLE. There were thousands of scammers, LA was a spam nightmare, you couldn’t buy anything or get anything done, and you had to farm for anything you wanted. Even back then when stuff dropped like candy and there was no DR it was still a pain. People were threatening to quit left and right and the only solace we had was that adorable construction quaggan.

I’ve noticed that these bags come in a rainbow of colors.

I’ve also noticed that there’s a vendor in Queensdale that sells Lucky Rabit’s Foot charms. They’re accessories, cost 2 silver each, and have NO stats to them. These also come in a rainbow of colors.

Call me crazy, but I’ve always felt there’s a connection between the two items, and there’s something we’re all missing here…

We don’t get our level of materials or bags dropped. Only the equipment. While it would be very nice to just continue getting the drops for that area, thus cutting the cost of the middle range of materials, the entire reason for the change is to keep people in the non end-game areas. The whole model of GW2 is you can fight ANYWHERE and still get rewards. They won’t take away our high level equipment drops in low level areas.

My concerns from the old Concerns Thread, which was deleted (yay censorship)
In the spirit of constructive posts, I’ll present how “megaserver” is IMO not the best solution for current issues with GW2.

1) Concern: COMMUNITY
This feature, as described, is a disaster for servers with well established communities. Since GW2 has been out for over a year, I imagine a lot of servers have such communities.
What if we love our servers and do not want to play with randoms? What about people not on F-list or in guilds that you know and nod to, people we AKF next to in LA/DR/Gendarran? What about people we make jokes with while world boss running? What about server in-jokes or recognizing your allied or frenemy guild?
I like Surmia, I love our mapchats, I love our different champ train route, I love RoS guilds helping each other with g-missions, I love how Marionette bonded us even further.
This is all established via the social aspect of a multiplayer game that was released in 2012. These are rules of some other game.

Solution: Let us keep the main server map. Make server-members a priority in this new chaos of overflows, if you must introduce it to the game.

2) Concern: IN-GAME EVENTS:
What will happen to in-game events that were organised by different communities on specific servers? What about the Gunnar’s Hold monthly map completion? Or the Pink Day on a few servers? Again the chaotic overflow that is “megaserver” seems to cancel that opportunity.

Solution: Again, let us keep the old main server system. Or let us have a choice-of-overflows like in GW1, with clear designations for each overflow where event will be held. But oh wait, we have that with the current server system.

3) MegaConcern: MEGABOSSES:
Teq & Wurm, Marionette & Knightfall, plus anything coming in the future, absolutely depends on 1) organisation, 2) willingness, 3) communication, 4) cooperation, 5) “good play” (decent build and gear).
Teq guilds, most of which are multi-guild communities, or alliances of different guilds (for which there is no in game feature!) have gone through great lengths to organise the events and avoid random people.

  • Issue with megabosses: As an officer in a megaboss guild, I can say that the No.1 issue with Megaboss events isn’t the gameplay difficulty nor the overflow per se, but the “Randoms / Noobs” – i.e. people who AFK or troll, who don’t read map chat and refuse to listen when whispered and who don’t want to install / join on TeamSpeak. These players clutter the map and take up spaces from the “People-Who-Care” and hinder the overall progress of the event. So far, People-Who-Care were able to have a main server map as a guiding point, and either choosing a server to go to, or pulling people on TeamSpeak into an overflow. It was stressful, but it worked. Cause these events do not work out with random people who happen to be on the map like with Temples or regular world bosses, they take cooperation and communication of like-minded folk. Not necessarily guildies though! Allies and other People-Who-Care.
It is sad when an events becomes difficult not due to gameplay, but due to game mechanics that allows AFKers and trolls to hinder the progress of a larger group by simply being there.
  • Possible solution to issue with megabosses: INSTANCES. The system is in the game, now you can just tweak it to support bigger number of players.
What we do not need is even more randomness in our organisation effort.

4) Positive aspect of megaserver feature:
There is one good thing about this “feature”, though I believe it is outweighted by the cons. Forgotten maps would gain some much needed population.
I am not a programmer, but couldn’t this problem of mid-level maps like Snowden or Timberline be solved in a way that would not hinder the whole social aspect of the game that we initially bought?

As I mentioned already, this “feature” is NOT something to introduce in a game over a year since release when we have established communities! Have we been playing a Beta until now?!

This is possibly the WORST thing to do! You will only have around 5% of you guildies in one map which means entire guilds will be torn apart just so PvE can be more active… Screw that, guild missions will now be stupidly hard to organise plus this doesn’t even balance out the WvW numbers problem so what is the point? You’re changing a system that me and many others have never encountered a problem with! I just hope when they implement it in the starter zones that they see how terrible the idea was before they ruin the PvE world and lose players!

I always enjoy a quiet map.

I can switch off chats but I can’t switch off those people running around.

My quiet, quiet Grove. My peaceful Caledon Forest where I know an event is very likely waiting if I need to do one for some reason.
My place. It’s like the ground my characters stand on is never the same one again.

I also feel for the roleplayers. I’m not one but I care about my characters and think about how they might fit in the world. I never have talked to anyone on Piken but it’s nice to think that these people around here might care about similar things as I do.

…I definetely never needed or wanted to see gigantic masses of random people around.

Megaservers are about to destroy the unofficial rp server communities, at least as far as I understand them.

Why is this? Because every map is now going to be an overflow, with players scattered to the four winds with a vague weight given by their actual home.

Previously, if you went to divinity’s reach in piken square, you were going to the rp hub of the EU servers. Now every divinity’s reach is the same and while many of us will end up in the right place, a good proportion will probably find that they have no idea where they are and who the characters passing by are.

I can think of no greater destructive action towards the rp community than this, especially in that we have had to make our own way without official servers. While this is great for grouping and I welcome it, it should not apply to cities, as they are primarily social hubs and see no actual group content.

I urge the rp community to make their voice heard on this non city change, before this goes live. Otherwise it could cause irreparable damage to what little rp community there is left in GW2.

No Megaserver in city zones please.

Why is there still no dueling?

in PvP

Posted by: VOLKON.1290

VOLKON.1290

The open world PvE area simply isn’t designed for dueling, it’s non-competitive at the very core.

leaderboards.
pve already is one giant competition, if you want it to be, yet you can simply ignore it as most people do. adding dueling will not force you to partake in them either. where is the difference? costume brawl is already a pvp experience, most daily activities (accessed from: PVE) involve fighting or competing with other players (except maybe the bell choir during christmas, but even there we had scores).
so no, the pve portion of the game is not inherently non-competitive, it’s quite the opposite if you look at the options. you can make it completely non-competitive by ignoring those options, but the design itself is clear.

that aside: what’s the point? even if it were non-competitive, I don’t see how this has anything to do with adding a new optional feature. I think most people on this thread advocating a dueling feature, apart from a few exceptions, already clearly said they want it completely optional and blockable.

Oh don’t give me that line of guano. Leaderboards are a comparison of how you’re doing compared to others in the non-competitive PvE areas, they have nothing to do with direct conflict in the PvE areas. It’s one thing to show a relative list of achievement points and something completely different (and more complex) to change the code of the entire PvE area to take into account other players no longer automatically being considered allies, what with cross-profession combos, interactions with events and npcs, etc. You add a completely unnecessary layer of complexity and in doing so add a whole new level of potential problems, bugs, etc. The PvE area is coded to be non-competitive. You’re talking about redesigning a huge section of the game, not simply comparing statistics.

Suggestion: dealing with dead ppl

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Posted by: CrossedHorse.4261

CrossedHorse.4261

I just think people need to respect each other in both directions.

If you go down during a fight, hopefully someone will be there to rez you before you are fully defeated. Do your best to tag a mob/add with low health and steal a revive, or spam your healing if you’re out of damage range of any other mobs. That is, help yourself as well. Only expect someone to help you if it’s safe for them to do so – no point you both going down.

If you are in combat and you see someone go down, rez if safe to do so. It takes all of 2 seconds, then you are both back in combat and contributing. Once you are rezzed, dodge out of any damage that might be coming, heal up and get back to the fight.

Now, if you end up fully defeated, sure, hang around a few seconds and see if someone comes to rez. It might be safe, and three or four ppl may stick around to help rez you and that’s totally fine. Just say thanks to them and be on your way.

DON’T keep screaming “REZ” at people. They KNOW you’re there, probably they’re busy. If it’s dangerous to rez, you can’t ask them to do that knowing all that will happen is they’ll end up dead too. Nobody’s helping anyone that way.

If you see someone down who hasn’t immediately way pointed, DON’T scream “WP” at them. It’s just rude, and all it encourages is them not way pointing just to spite you. A polite request that if people are downed and there’s a wp nearby, perhaps they might do so is fine. If it’s not safe to rez them, leave them. If it is, rez them if you want. They really aren’t scaling the fight up so much that it makes all that much difference. If they insist on staying where they are, then let them. Someone will rez them soon enough or they’ll have to eat the wp fee at some point anyway.

It’s really quite simple.

Kumu Honua.2751

If people would make a habit of refusing to rez anyone who is fully dead. This wouldn’t be an issue.

Who cares about the scaling. Stopping to rez them to full…

1. Removes your DPS as well as theirs.
2. Causes a bunch of people to go to one spot to get splatted by AE as they rez.
3. Increases your “value” for an enemy to target making #2 worse.
4. Causes you to be semi-prone and vulnerable.
5. Probably gets you killed as well as them because of how long it takes to rez adding yet another loss of dps.

It is simply not worth rezzing fully dead people. Ever.

I would like to bring Pixelpumpkin.4608 ’s forum signature to the attention of the thread.
She points out several great ideas that have been proposed in the past, including:
~ City Minigames (thread by TheBlackLeech.9360)
~ City Jumping Puzzles (thread by stjf.7180)
~ Portable Doors: Player Housing anywhere! (thread by Mad Queen Malafide.7512)

There are many other great ideas to increase the liveliness of cities, many of which are thoroughly discussed in their threads which reside in the closed-off suggestions forum. I really encourage ArenaNet to revisit that area and seriously consider many of these gems that have become mostly forgotten.

Also, to moderators/Danicia:
Would it be permissible to use the ‘Report This Post’ flag on the OP of a thread in the suggestions forum and then request it to be moved to X forum for further discussion in the Reason For Report box?
Many of these threads had great discussions taking place in them on their suggestions, though they have long since been locked away. Can we request them individually to be moved to their appropriately related sub-forums to once again be discussed?

One thing, Anet should do a PVP event on Tyria… that would bring more life to the game.

Ex: Charrs invading Divinitys to cap Castle for 1h, Same on Humans in Black Citadel, Sylvaries in Rata Sum and Asuras on the Grove.

And the Norns…. well the Norns just stay drunk in Hoelbrak. :P

Very few things could get me to leave this game. PvP in PvE areas is one of them. Bad, bad, idea. Anet will lose far more than they’ll gain in this transaction.

Oranisagu, the biggest reason people haven’t cited specific examples of abuse is because discussing other games in this forum is against the forum rules. Even without such specific examples though, I believe it can be safely assumed that at least most of the people (myself included) have been victims of said dueling abuse at one point or another. As I and many others have said, there is nothing inherently wrong with dueling, but the only true safeguard from abuse and constant spamming is to keep out of PvE. Set aside a space in LA, The Black Citadel, or any city map, or make it an aspect of PvP where people can use their PvE gear, but having it in open world is a disaster waiting to happen.

however i am amazed at how many people made sure to complain about something within this small window of relevance. if they really cared about the game you would think they would pick their battles better. or maybe they just dont want us to have nice things.

Here is something that might help some of you. Not long after you stop complaining about it and demanding some way to toggle it off your horrible nightmare of bobbleheads will be over. It is a done deal, a prank. You can demand this and that all you want and even threaten to go play ESO. Go get something to eat, take a walk, call some friends, read that book you got for Christmas, do anything you can think of, and before you know it the ‘bobblehead horror’ as you know it will be gone. You will wake up tomorrow and your GW2 world will be back in order, your nightmare over.
