Ascended Armour & Linen vs Gossamer

in Crafting

Posted by: Elthuzar.9478

Elthuzar.9478

There is something seriously wrong with the way Ascended Armour has been designed if the demand for Bolts of Linen exceed that of Bolts of Gossamer so much that Linen is worth more than twice that of Gossamer.

Something needs to be done, either reduce the amount of low level cloth required for refining, or increase the drop rate of the lower level cloth so that craftspeople can gather it themselves at a reliable rate.

What on earth possessed the design team in charge of crafting to charge such an exorbitant amount for this stuff?

It is bad enough that each individual piece of armour with each individual attribute set cannot be discovered through discovery (a fun mechanic), but is locked behind a laurel and gold sink. Five Laurels for one pattern, locked attributes, bind on account, it’s just not fun at all.

Since last summer, this game has gone from being incredibly fun to incredibly debilitating and time consuming. I’m hanging on by a thread and it’s badly frayed.

Exactly ZERO ! i’am a player that like to change build / do test. ( coming from GW1, not surprising liking change a lot the build ) and since builds are hardly dependent on stuff, and since its already ask quiet many money / time for just one set ( if you dont want play with default ugly stuff ) i see no fr***ing reasons to waste month grinding craft, and tons of moneys and moneys just to have ONE stat set.

Sure, its annoying me not having the best stat in game, so in long therm be weaker tham many others players just because of stat.

But i dont play video games to do ANNOYING things.

( and even if one day Anet only choose to allow you to change ascended stat like you want, i’am not even sure i would waste that many time for a such armor, its too annoying and time consuming )

For me spending month hunting gear to finaly play the game, is not playing and not fun.

YO;
So we are getting FotM personal levels down to 30. Why? Is there particular reason to punish players for playing fraktals before carrot and stick system?
We were gathering armor, rings, amulets, new ascended weapons, working our kitten off so we will be prepared that some day Anet will finally unlock more content/levels for us.
And we got leveled to “generic population” as reward.

nice “Fractal Reward Updates” for playing em

And dont forget all taht crap loot and countless fractals without getting anthing out of it. 48lvl almost every single day…

I wish Arenanet will make a story after the Destiny edge defeat Zhaitan and other elderdragon. Something like a request from other continent ask for help and make a real real expansion there.
I regard living story as the optional story. I wish they will take care about the destiny edge some more.

I no longer care about the Living Story updates, I really don’t.
I don’t care if I don’t get all achievements or minis.

Honestly, I’d rather wait 1-2 months and get no new content for 3-5 New Crystal Desert maps with new Dungeons and WELL WRITTEN story.

nobody in the tower

in The Nightmare Within

Posted by: SoulCrystal.2186

SoulCrystal.2186

All living story updates that have added challenging content, or content that requires a lot of players to complete, have ultimately been abandoned by the community in a very short time.

  • Southsun is mostly vacant even though the mega Queen event was added.
  • The Queen’s Pavilion became a ghost town for the last two weeks it was in the game.
  • Scarlet Invasions were only popular enough when people got a lot of champion bags (and then they wanted to farm instead of win).
  • Tequatl is (almost) only being killed by organized guilds specific to that purpose.
  • SAB World 2 had low player numbers due to the difficulty and length.
  • The Halloween labyrinth became a ghost town rather quickly.

The tower is already starting to be abandoned. People will do it for the achievements and that will be it. If you cannot get in there now to get the achievements, you’ll have a hard time trying to do it later.

Part of the community asks for more challenging content but they abandon the content quickly when it does not provide interesting rewards that match the risk involved. Everyone else who wants to try to do the more challenging content after the others have abandoned it are just left frustrated.

Is precursor crafting going to happen or not?

I just came back a couple weeks ago to try out all of the new content after a long hiatus. I was very happy with Super Adventure Box, and I was having a blast playing it on varying difficulties inbetween study sessions. However, I logged on today to find out that I’m unable to play it.

I simply don’t understand why new content is added only to be removed a month later. Forcing players to play the new content by locking out everything else might get bodies where you want them, but I guarantee you’ll have far less long-lasting playerbase than if you released permanent content.

I can understand some content being temporary, but locking players out of things like Super Adventure Box and the Crown Pavilion is absolutely deplorable. It’s an absolute waste of your development time to release temporary content, especially in a case like Super Adventure Box. My friend was thinking about picking the game up solely to play Super Adventure Box, but that won’t be happening now.

As a long-time Guild Wars 1 fan, it really hurts to be forced to break away from a world that you’ve spent so much time in, but I’m honestly just done until there is more permanent content or an expansion.

How far can players take it? How can we organize events that requrie huge amounts of players with these non-existent tools the game has, you know, parties of five, whisper from player to player… what else? Overflows and inability to control which one you end up in, overflows that end up in more overflows and more overflows.

Like a fractal that never ends. An infinite overflow.

Your implementation is TERRIBLE. You want us to participate in this type of content yet provide zero tools to manage it? Obviously arenanet has major problems in their design departments to overlook such obvious gamebreaking flaws. It is sad to see anyone supporting this type of a kitten product.

The balance team is chained to SPVP, and the PVE team is all about producing carnivals

Sad part? This event will die soon.

I really enjoy this fight, have 9/10 achievs and going for last one. Problem? When I get it I probably won’t do it again, maybe 1-2 times for fun later on, if enough ppl organize.

1. Rewards to be laughed at. Slightly boosted world boss rewards, with a tiny chance for a minipet ( which not everyone needs ) and ascendent weapons.

2. Rewards are daily. So in most cases 1 kill is enough for the whole server. Who would bother doing it again just for fun?

3. When people who are trying hard to get those Tequatl skins finally get them they won’t be needing to kill him again. Those I would call the experienced ones.

4. Experienced players stop doing Tequatl – new players come, fail and fail some more, finally leave with anger and a lot of frustration.

5. There is no accurate timer. People are already bored waiting few hours ( to not end in an overflow ). During this time you basically can’t leave main server map to gather nodes or do anything else. So you wait, then wait again and wait some more. Finally fight starts. Most of the time it’s a fail due to afkers and/or noobs using turrets.

ANET, do something about this. Like I and most people I talk to say- this fight is epic. But epicness is not enough. Rewards are not worth frustration and time. Overflow mechanics and turret mechanics are frustrating. Few blues and 1-2 rares are frustrating. Time wasted is frustrating. FINALLY having an epic fight frustrating in the end is well… FRUSTRATING.

Just a friendly tip from some1 who loves this game.

/btw. I’ve killed Taco 3 times, 5+ got him to under 5%. I don’t think that this fight is too hard, I really like it.

most of the EU population is german.

Do you have any evidence to support this?

Well, it wont be the majority of all EU population (but it will be close, i assume) but german is the most common spoken native language from all players on EU servers.

Sorry but this is nonsense. English the most spoken language in the EU, its the “international buisness” language. Its taught all over Europe as a second language. Spanish and French players speak some english, many German players speak English and the Nordic counrties generally speak excellent English.

So no German is definately not the most common language. Its not even close.

I’m tired of all those l2p and “ozmg it’s the most difficult content ever” topics. Tequatl is NOT difficult, nor challenging content, the only challenge is, well, logistics. Those who beat this boss, beat it not because they are good at the game, they beat it, because they have access to a large pool of human resources – big guilds, high pop servers and so on. It doesn’t really matter if those 100+ started playing a week ago or if they were playing for over a year, the only task that one needs to do is stand in the predefined place and spam skills, now this can’t be performed in low pop servers, because there’s not enough people and it can’t be performed with a bunch of randoms, because they usually don’t listen to anyone and everyone just scatters all around the map, making it impossible to effectively heal/buff with turrets, res and so on.

I’m not necessarily complaining about this type of content, though it’s not really my cup of tea, I’m only annoyed by “omg I beat Tequatl, I must be the best player ever now” attitude.
Solo’ing dungeons is difficult, being near the top/at top of PVP rankings is difficult, winning 1 vs 3 encounters in pvp/WvW is difficult, SAB tribunal mode is difficult, high level fractals/some dungeons can be somewhat difficult. World bosses atm are not difficult. If you’ll get enough people to stand in predefined places, you’ll beat any of them, it doesn’t require skill, just people, who are able to listen/read.

You see, the idea is great, but if you would have put Tequati in an instance, where you could play with well known team mates/decent players, would would already have 1000 groups beaten the dragon by now.

Now you get to play with unknown, potentially bad players who doesn’t know anything.

Right so you’ve got six turrets that need to be used to take down the dragon right, you need the number two skill to take down his armour. But what do you do if your map has either six people who don’t know to press number 2, no matter how many people say it in chat, or worse, six people who are AFK or crashing from lag?

You fail.

That’s not even counting what will happen when griefers think its funny to cause 100+ people to waste their time by ‘akitteng’ on the turrets for jollies.

Something needs to be done, you can’t have a first come first served system on something so vital to an event with such a long cool down.

[Guide] Damaging Tequatl Guide

in Tequatl Rising

Posted by: The Gates Assassin.9827

The Gates Assassin.9827

This guide has one purpose: To teach people how to damage a world boss. This is nothing new, but there are some Tequatl specific stuff I noticed at the bottom:

Damaging Tequatl Guide

The best skills for this fight are ones that fit some of these criteria:

  • Skills that pulse in a field (He can’t move, so he has to take the full damage)
  • Skills that can hit multiple parts of him (He has multiple places you can hit him, if you can hit more than one, your skill becomes twice as powerful).
    • AoE
    • Piercing
  • Skills the rely on power damage
  • Skills that deal more damage when the target is suffering from a condition (He always has all conditions on him)

Engineer

  • Freeze Grenade
  • Grenade Barrage

Grenades are the way to go for engineer. What else is new?

Elementalist

  • Meteor Shower
  • Fiery Rush (Fiery Greatsword)
  • Flame Wave (Fiery Greatsword)
  • Ice Bow

All of these can and should be brought on an ele. Don’t target Tequatl and use Fiery Rush through him to deal crazy amounts of damage to him. When the elite is on recharge, hit him with ice bow and then switch to staff. This is the best damage against a world boss in the game.

Necromancer

  • Life Transfer
  • Well of Corruption
  • Well of Suffering
  • Deathly Claws (Lich Form)

Very possible to bring all of these. Good placement could have the wells tick double.

Guardian

  • Whirling Wrath (Careful with this one)
  • Symbol of Wrath
  • Smite

Smite is the safest and best way to deal damage.

Warrior

  • Hundred Blades
  • Whirlwind Attack
  • Arcing Arrow
  • Hammer Shock
  • Rifle Skills with Crack Shot trait (This makes all rifle skills pierce. Kill shot gogo!)
  • Whirling Axe
  • Tremor

Rifle with piercing and a longbow seem like the way to go here.

Mesmer

  • Mind Wrack
  • Phantasmal Berserker
  • Chaos Storm
  • Illusionary Duelist

Make sure you have Signet of Illusions if you are going for Tequatl. That shockwave hits like a truck! The faster you can put out Illusionary Duelists, the better, so all recharge traits help.

Ranger

  • Barrage (Careful!)
  • Longbow and Shortbow with Piercing Arrows trait
  • Split Blade
  • Any Drake Pet

Drake + longbow + shortbow and stick to the side of him so the piercing works.

Thief

  • Cluster Bomb
  • Trick Shot
  • Pistols With Bouncing Trait

Spam it!

Charr

  • Artillery Barrage
  • Fire Rocket Barrage

In case you don’t have a good AoE on your class coughmesmerscough. I assume we’ll be seeing a lot of the ever so common…charr mesmer.

To me, these are the damage kings:

  1. Elementalist
  2. Warrior
  3. Ranger
  4. Thief
  5. Engineer
  6. Necromancer
  7. Guardian
  8. Mesmer

Doing Melee Damage

Despite what people say about melee, you can definitely melee this guy. You need to pick your moments, but there’s a few that I noticed:

  • When Tequatl pulls his hands back to summon the fingers, he’s not going to shockwave for a bit. Totally open.
  • When Tequatl is fearing everyone, pop stability and wreck his dirty kitten .
  • Just after Tequatl finishes shockwave, he doesn’t attack as much.

If you pay attention to when he goes for the slam on shockwave, you can EASILY dodge or jump it. I suggest dodging as it’s much more consistent.

The best place to do melee damage to him was his front left foot I found. There’s a little island that it is on and you can even clearly see the red circles there.

Tarnished Coast got him to 10% today. LETS KILL THIS TACO TONIGHT!

You essentially killed Tequatl, people will do him once this next few weeks for the achievement then never do him again. You have made him too difficult. A 100+ man zerg just went head to head with him and got him down only 5-10% in 15 minutes. Like I said the idea is amazing, you have just overdone it.

Next thing is the WP stays contested after you fail, moving people further away from even going to do the event. Last but not least, NO LOOT even after 15 minutes of getting your armor smashed.

All in all, it needs a tweak, its not a hardcore gamer event and should not be treated as such.
