Idk why people think that her lair is a bad location to be in…. There’s pack of wolves all over the place outside, there’s a small army of Wurms with a champion and then cave trolls plus the whole she’s hiding behind a holographic wall which before this patch was solid…

Most individuals are gonna stay away from that place to begin with, and those that don’t wouldn’t be snooping around for very long, would be much better than hiding the place in a populated area….

They sing dark, delicious notes about power and family.

So Dhuum could maybe plan to revive Abaddon and Allie with with Menzies and thus target the current gods especially (Grenth, Balthazar, and Kormir).

Gotta say, I’m surprised Balthazar wasn’t siding with Abaddon on the whole keep magic as is sorta thing….

I can understand why he might have his reason for restricting magic again. Balthazar might be the god of war, and he loves a good fight as much as everyone else, but he’s a human supremacist first and foremost.

When the gods gifted unrestricted magic to Tyria, they basically gave everyone a bunch of AK-47s and said, “Have fun!”. Abaddon didn’t see a problem with this because of his total belief in the “survival of the fittest” mentality. Balthazar probably had problems because the magical wars after the gift of magic brought humans to the edge of extinction.

If humans had the advantage, and they were killing their enemies left, right, and center and expanding their territory, Balthazar’s opinion might have differed on the subject. But since his favored race was getting killed off, he sided with the other gods on the matter.

Humorously, however, I see a good deal of people liking Abaddon because his history is heavily implied to be a fallen hero kind of story.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

abaddon is dead. he’s even less likely than a dragon in the mists.

they wanted to tie EotM into the story for some reason, so scarlet it is. until we get a look at the actual content, it’ll just sound like shoehorned excuses.

I hope so. I hated my character’s voice in GW1. But I love all the pc voices in GW2 and wish my characters would speak more.

Hey I liked my character’s voice in Prophecies. It’s mostly as I like Steve Blum though.

Steve Blum did an AMAZING job for the male voice in GW1 I think.

It feels more like blatant fan-service to me.

To a guy and most heterosexual girls with any kind of bi-curious nature (aka every being alive because we are hard wired to kitten everything that is remotely erotic), any open lesbian relationship is/seems like blatant fanservice. Dont tell me you dont have that one friend (or are) who knows a same sex couple of pretty people and you kinda wish to be that third person in that threesome that will never happen because they aint interested in the opposite sex? If not where do you live that is so homophobic in this day and age…

Well that escalated quickly. :/

I’m not going to even bother responding to that. But anyway, yes it did come across as fan service to me. I don’t think that says anything about me as a person.

Hm, why do you feel it’s a fan service? I play with both my boyfriend and brother and neither of them felt that way, and they’re quite honest people. I also didn’t feel the fanservice. Are you referring to conversations, outfits, something else?

IMO the whole thing is extremely subtle and majority of the players didn’t even notice it. I was probably the only person in my guild who commented on that and most responses I got was “lol who’s Marjory?”

I feel the same way completely but he simply cannot just spoil it. Since a lot of people are making their bets and assumptions, even if nobody is going to get killed (which is my guess, and certainly hoping for) he can’t just tell at this point

I completely understand. I would hate it if story was spoiled before I see it first hand. I was just voicing my concerns regarding killing characters we get attached to, since that conversation been coming up more and more recently. That was (Spoiler)heartbreaking seeing your mentor die for *absolutely no reason*. And I would hate to see it happen again. Because throughout the story you see many NPCs (Spoiler)run into their deaths just for the sake of making the scene more dramatic, when there are so many alternatives it doesn’t make any sense at all.

I think ANet’s motives were pretty pure with Kasmeer & Marjory, I must say…

…But I also think it would have been harder for them to get away with a male homosexual relationship being in the spotlight at all. It’s not ANet at fault there, it’s the maturity & openness of the audience.

This isn’t a mark against gamers, by the way, it holds true for most of society. There’d be accusations of “only doing it to be politically correct” or “i’m not interested in this! why should I be?!” if it was a male couple. It’s much more common when male homosexuality is shown in films and tv shows, too.

The relationship between Logan and Jennah is kind of a unique one, since they are in the public eye a LOT. So they subdue their interactions, as far as we’ve seen.

I haven’t gotten any feeling that the two lesbian relationships that you mention are done for the sake of being ‘hot.’ I think it’s actually refreshing and nice that Kas/Jory are a little more open about their flirting; it makes them feel a little more real.

We’ve also seen other hetero relationships in the books. And I remember at least a few occasions of playful flirting there.

Why is everyone here forgetting about the possibility of getting an abaddon fractal?

Because it doesn’t exist. The majority of the votes went to Kiel, so the Abaddon fractal did not get made, and thus is not under discussion. It never happened.

i’m probably leaning more toward the “she actually wants to do something good in a bad way” theory. In my opinion she either want’s to fight whatever is bringing the mentioned impending doom or she’s one of those “i’ll save your souls from what’s coming by killing you all” psychopaths.

I sure hope they never ever lean toward an InFamous Kessler route. That was the biggest letdown of an ending I’ve ever had.

After finally playing persona 4 and finishing it, I just realized the entire scarlet event from last year is really a pile of ****. 99% of the story in the main gw2 is just as awful. I’m not sure if anyone else agrees with me, but this content design of story telling has to stop. Living story of… recycled animations, sound tracks and ridiculous “balance changes” to profession skillsets, along with 10 minutes worth of story telling dialogue (with equally bad lines),

Scarlet: I’m setting more monsters onto all of Tyria since I failed to kill the queen! “Says 100 times of die.” (what’s with the new marionette boss? Can’t really tell because the event failed 5 + times, and I just gave up.)
Hero: I will stop you by hitting your monster bosses for the next 3 months!
Scarlet: I will finish this with a finale of vague reasons to why I did it and hitting certain important areas!

Honestly, in the first place, what good does killing queen jennah do? (Others say kidnap, but it looks like Scarlet is trying to kill the queen as I remember it. Scarlet shot at the queen, and did not proceed further to catch her or anything, you guys are overthinking things.) Actually, if queen jennah or some other major character died (I dunno, knut whitebear?), I would have taken out my popcorn and read a tale of revenge or watch tyria collapse due to politics.

That will be fun. Maybe even gather some living story stuff where players decide the future of Tyria by having an alliance with factions. This thing with Scarlet? Not so much. It’s awful boring and the recent “living story” is becoming impossible to complete thanks to people failing randomly.

I’m inclined to agree that the storytelling as dropped the ball but I don’t think Scarlet’s character is to blame (yet). It’s definitely spiraling downhill, but a good puzzle is one that keeps you guessing until the end. So as long as the idea about Scarlet’s motivations are wrong, I think I can see some hope. The story can be salvaged, every story can, it’s just a matter of the conclusion.

I can’t help but think of the movie The Prestige.

Every great magic trick consists of three parts or acts. The first part is called “The Pledge.” The magician shows you something ordinary: a deck of cards, a bird or a man. He shows you this object. Perhaps he asks you to inspect it to see if it is indeed real, unaltered, normal. But of course… it probably isn’t.

The second act is called “The Turn.” The magician takes the ordinary something and makes it do something extraordinary. Now you’re looking for the secret… but you won’t find it, because of course you’re not really looking. You don’t really want to know. You want to be fooled. But you wouldn’t clap yet. Because making something disappear isn’t enough; you have to bring it back.

That’s why every magic trick has a third act, the hardest part, the part we call "The Prestige.”

We’ve seen The Pledge, Scarlet is a semi-ordinary sylvari doing semi-ordinary bad things. Now we’ve seen The Turn where all of her motivations seem to shed some light. But it doesn’t deserve anything special, it just seems like she did a bunch of stuff with ordinary things. It’s all about The Prestige, the character arc needs a full circle to be completed.

I’m just curious though about why she would want to fight Primordius and what connection it would have to do with Queen Jennah,

Why would it need to have any connection to Queen Jennah? We were kind of told blatantly by the writers that her attack on the Queen was more of an impulse action, rather than something she planned well.

Does anyone else hate Trahearne?

To me he comes of as both smug and insecure and I’m supposed to follow this guy? Aren’t I the hero?) So yes your argument does make sense even though I still don’t like the character (personally).

There is nothing smug about Trahearne… Even though he actually has every right to be given how much respect he’s given by the three Orders for his expertise on Orr.

Dear ANet writers,

He turns up half way through the story and totally takes the spotlight from you.

He turns up at various points in time based on character race. His first appearance for most players is Claw Island. He is introduced as someone well known by your mentor as a scholar of Orr. He is there for the very same reason you and your mentor are there, as he acknowledges. He then asks for your permission to accompany you. This is hardly taking charge.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/The_Battle_of_Claw_Island#Dialogues

In the follow up mission he says some variation of, “[Player’s mentor’s] sacrifice held them back, but it was your bravery that led us to safety, my friend. I am grateful to you.”

You and Trahearne, at his request, seek help from the Pale Tree. This mission is largely about Orr, Trahearne, and his lack of confidence in being a general. Both Trahearne and the Pale Tree treat you as the player as important to reclaiming Orr. If anyone is stealing the spotlight at this point it’s that Avatar of the Pale Tree. Always building up Trahearne when he’s down and showing visions of your destiny.

The following mission has you saving your order. At the end you propose to form The Pact alliance, not Trahearne; and Trahearne agrees to follow whatever your plan might be.

Trahearne’s introduction, to most players, isn’t remarkably different from other NPCs that aid the player. It is hardly spotlight grabbing.

Everyone starts bowing down to him and following everything he does and all you have is his dirty work to do. He totally removes the feeling of being the spotlight of the story, the hero and the driving force in change and it comes out of nowhere.

To the contrary. After you decide to form the Pact and you choose Trahearne to lead it; the first mission has you deciding the tactics for retaking Claw Island and Trahearne agreeing to them. The NPCs that offer victory dialogue thank you and Trahearne. Trahearne repeats that he needs you by his side to keep the orders unified. Trahearne offers his doubts about reclaiming Orr and you give him hope.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Retribution#Dialogue

In Forging the Pact, no one is bowing down to Trahearne. The point of this mission actually to convince the orders that Trahearne can lead them as they all have doubts.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Forging_the_Pact#Dialogues

I could go on and look into every mission dialogue for you, but I think your should do your own homework. I think you’ll find that Trahearne gives a lot of credit to the player and that this is mostly a story about you supporting Trahearne through his Wyld Hunt. It is not your Wyld Hunt, but you play an important role in it.

There are problems with Trahearne. His introduction for most players is without much precedent, as is the case with many other plot elements (e.g., only some Auran players learn about Professor Gorr’s theory that is largely dropped into other player’s laps when it becomes necessary). He also has a very unemotional voice actor, which can be more than irritating when certain lines need to be delivered with emotion. This could be because of the writing or the actor, I’m not sure which.

You, SirMoogie, are awesome.

How come I do the same thing over and over and over again (with screenshots) and people call me everything but a troll and liar, he does it and he gets kudos?

Wait what? Where did you hear that enemy players would be disguised as Aetherblades?

WvW has always included NPC enemies as well as other players. I’d just been assuming the new map would feature Aetherblades in place of the centaurs, skritt etc. that are currently in the Borderlands maps.

I know a few people have said they would like to be able to attack other servers open world maps but Anet have always said they want to keep PvP and PvE in separate locations.

Every LS patch was only about pve, and even at WvW we oftem see LS stuff, so this time Anet changed a bit, why not the otherway?

I think it is good, pve players will have a chance to see how WvW/PvP players can get organized in large scale fight and how coordenation is important and it is fun.

@LoopySnoopy.7923 theres no problem to arrive the batlefield clueless, you will find alot of players hunting unexperienced wvw players but also you will have dedicated players on your side and for shure they will help you.

IMO this is a ice breaker between servers, since we have to team up, just hope this is not adapted to the main WvW map.

You are going to be matched up with all servers of your colour that week.

You will have hundreds of allies but also hundreds of enemy players. The enemy players will try to kill you, because to them your a walking loot bag…no offence…I will be a walking loot bag to the other 2 enemy colours.

Its fun.

You may die a lot but you will eventually get your achievements done and who knows you may like it and have fun.

WvW players will have a advantage, as they will be used to the fighting in large zergs, also some are excellent at using siege weapons and they do not care about achievements or living story. So there main aim is to farm the enemy zergs for loot bags.

See you on the battlefield…
