I would like to update you on the current issue with WvW.
We have identified what is causing the problem and are currently working to resolve it.
Once we will reactivate WvW, the matchups that started last Friday will continue with the correct score.
Please note that all objectives will be reset to their starting state, and all siege weapons that were deployed will be gone.
I currently do not have an ETA for when WvW will be reactivated, but we will let you know immediately once it is up and running again.
Once again – apologies for any inconvenience caused.
I dont understand how this can happen. Why the hell is there no backup of the state wvw was in before the patch!?
The fact that it all resets will probably make the difference in us loosing the matchup this week… great……wait…seriously? You don’t get why they don’t roll back all their servers on a whim? Roll backs are only ever the last resort bro. First step is find the problem, if that problem is integral to the patch, I.e. cannot be removed without destabilizing the program, then you roll back. Otherwise ya find the break in code and patch it closed…it’s why we call them “patches”.
Second of all, if a few hours of a Tuesday morning is going to make your server lose, you probably weren’t going to win anyhow.
Just get it all out buddy. It’s all going to be OK.
AND to the kittenin idiot, there is a HUGE difference between rolling back DATA vs rolling back the actual PROGRAM. Specially since in this case no changes have been apparently been made to the data structure of the objects i expect to be restored to their initial state.
Please enlighten us all on the difference between data and a program. I’m dying to know.
I am not the OP, but… rolling back a program requires a new build. So maybe they have a git repository with all of their code and they have patched and then built a new .exe from that source to get where they are now. Then they find the WvW bug, and they have to patch the source and create a new .exe (program). That program will contain all of the last patches changes, and the most recent fix.
Separate from that, they have data stored on their servers that the program accesses to fill in all of the information the GUI displays. Rolling this data back does not require the build to change.
These are separate entities, and changing the program does not HAVE to touch the data, hence why the siege and keeps/towers, etc., for each color didn’t change, but something the program did caused the realm associated with that color/matchup to change. That said, the way the program interacted with the data may require a manual rewrite, making it relatively easy to keep the points where they are while fixing the matchups, but at the expense of individual data for each keep/tower/siege.
I am clearly speculating about why, but what it does mean is that all of the T3 upgrades and defense a server has put into the matchup will be wiped and that gives every server that was unable to keep their towers/keeps new life to get back into it.

#RLHawk I stopped Reading after "[Yea] I play it… " If I wanted or needed a lecture I join Uni again.
Get me WvW
Alrighty then. ’tis a shame I wasted my time typing all that.
Regardless though, I was simply trying to make the point that ANet cares just as much or more about WvW as you do. It’s good that you’re eager for it to be fixed though, so I’ll stop fighting you. After all, as far as our love of WvW, we seem to be on the same page.
What the game def needs more of are apologists.
Cool dungeon today, looking forward to wvw once it gets fixed thanks guys
How the heck this is p2win? it is not like you can buy ascended weapon from Gem store…
Yes the gem price is ridiculous, but how exactly does buying gems (and converting it to gold) make you win?
why need to buy mats for ascended weapon while u can buy….legendary weapon with gold?
will exotic stas = legendary stas?
something you can buy with gold and have more power, i think it call pay2win.and legendary armor coming soon as anet Dev talked about it long ago.
Is there is any content in the game that REQUIRES these items to complete? No.
Not Pay2Win. NOTHING IN THIS GAME REQUIRES YOU TO PAY MONEY TO PROGRESS IN CONTENT. Is the content easier with the level 80 equipment that has slightly higher stats? Possibly, but it is not a requirement to advance.

Makin ascended weapons and soon my guess ascended armor !
I didnt buy any gems and im making my 4th ascended weapon right now. Its not pay to win in the least bit.
hard enough to make them cry, not just rivers but oceans."

Well, to make ascended weapons you need mats that drop from world chests that are account bound…not buyable….except ectos, as always, and other mats you get from your specific tradeskill mentor…as always.

Anet recently created the account bound wallet which will save everyone back slots.
You can reset your traits for 3 silvers….
Stop complaining and be grateful…..
It’s less than 10g. What’s the big deal? At least the game lets you change your traits, a lot of games don’t even do that. There sure is a lot of whining about this game lately. Be grateful for what we do have don’t complain about what we don’t have.
Why do you think this means no build template? This item does NOT replace a potential build template system (that works in a city….like GW1’s templates did).
This item is to fleece stupid players with too much money.
I’ll join your QQ fest when an Dev states there will be no build template system.

I love this funny little mix-up that occurred. Big respect to Anet, take all the time you need to fix it. We’re happy to wait! :-)

Ok, guys — so I can be clear: You are not experiencing the “parse error” that occurred earlier, but you are not able to purchase gems?
What sort of message are you getting at this time?

Reset objectives? Sounds fun. It’s like a mini reset.
Smaxx is correct, the minipet category is permanent, but the subcategory in Living World that gets you the slickpack will be available for this release only.
Nice to see that not even launch content is safe. In a few years from now, maybe every dungeon path will be replaced with something else.
I don’t think ANet understands the concept of growing, and it’s becoming a new level of sad.
Here’s my question…why do people care so hard about that path? I ran that path once, and screamed “NEVER AGAIN!” when it was finished, just because of how annoying and bad the path was compared to the other two. Are you telling me you guys are going to complain when they likely revamp Arah’s story mode, and update Zhaitan? If so, I want to slap all of you.
PvE Main – Zar Poisonclaw – Daredevil
WvW Main – Ghost Mistcaller – Herald
I hadn’t done that particular path yet, and now I know I never will.
I WAS going for completion. I did believe though that with the existing permanent content (especially the content linked to permanent achievements), it was safe to wait until I had some free time.
Kitten me, right?
Thanks, ANet.
To elaborate a little more on why this is so disheartening for me.
- As if the living story achievements didn’t put enough pressure on me, now I learn that the permanent content can be taken away at a moment’s notice, so not wanting to miss out, I am now under the additional pressure to complete all dungeon paths, all jumping puzzles and whatever else as soon as possible, leaving nothing to be explored at my own pace (which is what I loved (past tense) most about Guild Wars 2).
- I am actually fine with the Living World concept making permanent changes to the world. Things change, they evolve. I have always been a supporter of the Living World. But please consider giving us some advance warning (more than a single day) to give us the chance to catch up before taking content away. I think this is not unreasonable.
Thank you.
This is also exactly what I feel like.
Does anybody know if people are now missing the possibility to complete any achievements or so? Or getting a special item from any of the NPCs in the path that was replaced?
It only adds achievements, doesn’t remove any. He specifically said in the stream that as far as the dungeon master achievement and paths achievement, the new paths replaces the old one, meaning if you did the old one you’ll still have that achievement, and if you didn’t but do this one, you’ll get that achievement. There were no special items from the path being replaced, but there are in what’s being added.
Thank you very much, RLHawk!
wow already? lol
the fact that we already have a thread like this is a good sign in my book that its a decent dungeon path
We’re currently looking into a bug related to WvW. Until this issue is resolved, we have suspended WvW matches to investigate and resolve it. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.
It is funny how one person’s “best update in the history of ever” is the other person’s “worst possible thing since World War 2”.
It kinda shows that we can’t really claim that “nobody likes update x” and stuff like that.
That’s what makes the feedback so interesting. There is no content in any game that is universally appealing, but it’s helpful to know how people are reacting to each release, just the same. So we have to take every post with a grain of salt, and also compare that with posts from other sites, and then compare it to player behavior in the game.
It paints a very interesting picture. Forum comments are just one small part of it, especially since the number of active posters is a tiny fragment of the overall player base.
As always, thanks for sharing your opinions.
IS this real? it cant be? hours and hours of salvaging stuff from the pvp reward chests..the pain in the fingers
It’s all over!
Thank you so much! <3
what did they change in regards to this?
We don’t have to confirm when we salvage a pvp item.
Thanks, kittening thanks
also, if you actually cared about balance, you would know that it’s the 15th october patch.

Hey everyone. I know there’s some folks upset by the decision to make this new level 80 path in Twilight Arbor take the place of the Forward Up path. I hear the complaints directed toward that fact. That said, there’s several reasons why we came to the conclusion we did.
From a lore perspective, the story of Twilight Arbor repeatable is a lot like a “what if?” situation. Who gets to the Nightmare Tree first? Scarlet is now present in the arbor, and that presence has a very tangible effect on how the Nightmare Court can pull off their race to the tree. Because of that presence, the possibilities are narrowed, and Fyonna will not be able to make it to the tree in time.
From a design standpoint, we want the Living World updates to change and have an impact on the world. Earlier in the year, Colin gave the example of blowing up a dungeon and replacing it. This is very much that example in action. Because the explorable paths of Twilight Arbor were very similar from a content perspective, we made the decision to create a new path to revitalize one of the existing ones. Forward Up was one of the least played dungeon paths in the game, and was the best candidate for doing something like this.
I know my explanation won’t make everyone happy, but I hope it at least gives you some insight into the decision we made. Everyone on the team is really proud of how the new path has come together, so I’m hoping you give it a try on Tuesday and let us know what you think.

I agree, thanks Anet!
Well then we’re a community of hoarders aren’t we. Displeased about it, but unable to let it go.
