as far as i know PoserGate got help from devs, at least the GW2 fb said they helped them…which isnt legit in my book, they had people that worked on the event there helping.
That is absolute nonsense I was there and the two Anet employees did not help in any shape, way or form.
I wasn’t there with the BG people, but it’s absolutely wrong to claim that the GW2 FB said that BG got help from the devs. They reposted the Anniversary Bash footage and said that the SNEAK PEEK group got help from the devs. Not BG.
Henge of Denravi
I think those who are deconstructing this win, and chalking it up to ‘just being lucky to be around other organized players’ are doing so in very poor taste. We won this event because we did, and continue to do, what ANet would like to see from large-scale group events: positive communication, following a leader, actually helping each other, and having a common goal. We were successful because we are good at working together as a group, and actually help each other, as opposed to acting as a singular person on the battlefield, unaware of those around us. I don’t think that makes us “lucky” – I think that makes us co-ordinated with a common goal in mind. My heart was racing when we won this event, and it’s because, as Stormcrow said earlier, the reward of it all was not what I got from the chests, but having beaten the most difficult fight in GW2 to date, and being able to know I was there for a world first.
I understand people want to get this complete, but faulting those people who worked very hard together and saying they were just lucky seems sad to me. We shouldn’t be trying to take away the glory from those who prevailed – we should be further encouraging it, and wanting for every server to attain this same win. I really hope this encourages people to that extent.

I’d just like to be one of the few people to say thank you ANET for giving us a lofty challenge. I think this is great for the game, and I’ll explain why:
1. We are too used to ‘akitteng’ content and boss mobs.
I think people are upset that this is so hard at least in part because they’re so used to setting up at a safe spot for the boss mob fight, heading to the kitchen for a drink, and coming back to grab their dragon chest and loot. Making these fights something worthy of a server working together and coordinating is a GOOD thing
2. It’s a freaking DRAGON.
I remember the first time I killed Teq, being completely underwhelmed. I was totally impressed with the three dragons, their animations, and their graphics, but was blown away at how stupidly facepalmingly easy the fights were. Jormag was annoying, but it wasn’t hard. Anyone remember The Sleeper from EQ? That was an epic battle and people still talk about the first time it was killed.
3. This is a great guild challenge.
Since there isn’t raid content in this game, I think there should be at LEAST a few dragons in the game that take mass coordination to defeat, and that often means guild “raid”. Not in a guild? then join one! is your guild not strong enough yet? then work towards it! I don’t have time for people who say “well it should be pugged, it’s not fair that a guild who coordinated on TS3 was the only team who defeated something”. Why the hell shouldn’t it be like that? Why does everything have to be so stupidly easy that any group of level 60-80 half-geared, half-afk people can beat it?
4. The content has only been out for a day people.
Lets hold off on all the QQ’ing and the “ANET, this is too hard” threads until we give it at least a week. One server has already beat him, so why can’t the rest?
5. If you’re not willing to work towards something and coordinate, don’t play the content, or find a group of people who will work with you.
Don’t want to download teamspeak? sorry, no sympathy. Don’t want to join or work with a large guild? again, too bad. If you don’t want to work towards it, go back to farming FGS.
The ONLY thing I would say about the Teq rising patch that I think should be changed is the reward, ie. loot. From what I’ve heard you get a number of chests and mats, but that’s not really all that impressive when those items can pretty easily be attained from doing a couple of the easier events. I think that there should be something concrete as a reward. For example:
- Unique precursor crafting component (remember having to get the red scales from Naggy?)
- New Teq weapon skin (not RNG) or a token towards one (with 10 tokens traded in for a skin)
- Mystic Clovers
Give us a reward on par with the level of effort! Bring back the olden days of epic dragon slaying raids!

Sorry People! We are already full. Still keep a look into the forums. We might open a second guild! So for now please stop whispering me xDD If there is another open guild, I will tell you on the forums!
Have you tried the new Tequatl? Tequatl the Undefeatable? The one monster that killed you over and over and made you wish there was a title like Dragonfood? Let’s end that! We want to fully organize the European Servers in order to kill Tequatl! He can be deafeted! Think about it, once he is at the lasers, you can easily deal him 20% dmg if he is downed, organized 25%. Meaning that we can permanently be in the laser defense phase. If we can do that, we win! In order to organize we will make a temporary guild!
This guild, the Tequatl Killer Squad [TKS] is especially made just for the cause to kill Tequile Sunrise, the god of poisonous puke! You can have any other guild at the same time and you don’t have to represent all the time, neither do you have to stay for a long time. We just want to kill Tequatl as the first Europeans! Still there are a few requirements, since we want to kill them.
Requirements:
1x Char lvl 80
Full Exotic or Ascended gear (preferably not Zerker)
The will to defeat Tequatl
20s – 1g (For food to kill him)
This guild will be fully organized with the ranks:
HQ Intel (Leader)
Turret Officer
Turret User
Defender Officer
Defender
Attacker Officer
Attacker
New Slayer (Just a temporary new member slot)
This guild is for all servers, but we will operate On a guest server, so that the whole guild can join without any problems. That server will probably be Vabbi, since noone does it there. Like this we can operate as one gigantic guild against Tequatl.
If Blackgate can do this, we can, too! Just write here and I will invite you! Let us try this. We can kill him! Let’s organize!
Edit: … I failed at writing attacker…
Here the blackgate strategy!

I personally thing it’s a step in the right direction. It’s one single very hard fight for those that want a big challenge, and for those that just want the easy loots, well, you still have (taking a deep breath) claw of jormag, shatterer, golem mark II, fire elemental, fire shaman, shadow behemoth, megadestroyer (which just got new upgraded loot this patch, BTW), jungle wurm, temples of balthazar, dwayna, lyssa, grenth and melandru, the foulbear chieftain, ulgoth, the dredge commisar, taidha covington, eye of zaithan, the karka queen and scarlet’s invasions (phew), not to mention the champion trains in frostgorge sound, queensdale and others, and the champion farming during the invasions… those are way more than enough to keep you busy and with plenty of loot unless you do play 12 hours a day..
Personally I’m glad they’re actually adding harder content and, more important IMHO, failable content that only rewards success.

Download interrupted by power outage!!!

Hi RyanFL – I hate to be the bearer of bad news here but if your connection is interrupted such as by a loss of power or loss of internet connection, unfortunately the client will start over from the beginning. If this is a regular occurrence, I can only suggest downloading the client little by little and what I mean by this is closing the client out periodically during the installation. When you open the client back up, it should pick right back up where it left off. Either this, or I’d recommend installation from a different location or copying a fully patched client over from a friend or a relative.
Sorry you had to deal with that, I know it’s not fun to start a hefty install over from the beginning
They release stuff “without testing it”: people complain.
They test it and people complain.I would rather have these test than getting into a situation where my character is locked into something due to a bug.
I agree that it might have been better to leave the LFG out of the preview page though.
My thoughts exactly. Threads like these make me happy I’m not in the games industry.
No. They have literally been bragging about how they’re finally adding in the LFG tool since they announced it. To slyly announce LAST MINUTE that “oh, by the way, we’re not actually releasing it” is ridiculous.
They’re releasing it, but phased. That way they can make sure the players don’t DDOS it on day 1. Sounds like a pretty good idea, considering how popular this tool is going to be.
Your answer is going to be “make more servers then”. That’s a ridiculous position, to reserve tons of serverspace for a tool that’ll have its peak users moments after launch. It’s a total waste of money, whereas a phased launch is far more lenient towards system resources. It’s win-win for everyone, including you.
Would you rather have a bad tool now, or a good, functional tool in a week or so? Quality takes time.
Also, if they want testing, they should have TEST SERVERS. As has been suggested since forever.
There is a test server. Your ignorance doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

Also, if they want testing, they should have TEST SERVERS. As has been suggested since forever.
So, lets see a possible situation here:
LFG getting ready to launch.
They find something that might create issues with too many people using the system at once.
They decide to have a limited release in order to find the limits and/or adjust the system accordingly based on certain threshold of people.
They increase the amount of people having access to said system slowly in order to stop a total system-crash.
Please tell me how that is a bad thing?
Also they HAVE test servers, how else do you think that people can leak patch-notes and such? Another thing to keep in mind is the fact that a test server is NEVER identical to a live server, thus some issues won’t be testable anyway (such as server loads and the like, due to the fact that the live servers have way more traffic and user interaction than a test-server ever will.
But I suppose you would rather they release it fully on Tuesday and the whole system crashes and no one will be able to use it for weeks?

If telling people “suck it up and learn to play the game to actually work for your rewards for once” is elitist, then I’m an elitist and I’m kitten proud of it.
I’m also willing to try, but i’m hitting a barrier of ‘ok, I dodge every single of his wave, i survived his poison traps, i ressed over 15 people on my own, i protected the turrents, i dps’ed the dragon for a while, ‘oh crap timer is out 90% left’, ok we did someting seriously wrong. But I do not know that answer.
You are like my friend, if a new game comes out he figure all the hard content out in litterally 5 secs. He doesn’t have to try even. He can somehow always predict what the developpers thought, and see true what was supposed to be very hard content, with easyness. But i don’t call him a good player. He’s just lucky to have this gift. Now you are telling people without this gift to suck it up and don’t ask advice? Kk, leaves tequatl
Might as well not play fractals right, cause without advice, i wouldnt have understood the ‘catch boss energy attack, and trow it back at him’ mechanic. Players advised me, I listened, and I became a better player in fracs because of it, now i’m helping others who don’t understand it yet.
Same problem exists with Arah. I would love to complete all paths of this dungeon. But it is hard. I’m all prepared for anything, but it always comes to this: The person who already did dungeon is to lazy to explain, and when stuff fails, he just ragequits party. Am i the one at fault for not succeeding the dungeon i don’t yet know of then, in your opinion?

Fail the batteries that is.
Because this happens. And then everyone dies.
And it was glorious.
Not even ONCE was I able to be with my own server (Tarnished Coast) for Tequatl.
Not even once in all the time I spent in overflow was there even the option to travel to the main server.
I hope something can be done about this soon.
Do you understand why the overflow mechanic is in place?

People that are actually on that server should take priority over guests. Guests should get kicked off server if its full, to make room for people on that server.
Waiting between events doesn’t work. I sat on map for hours and never got back to BG after all the crashes started.
Don’t say “use join party in map” either, its not working. Most people get some sort of “network error”.
One question… how do you know for sure that you’re getting into overflow because of people guesting and not because there are lots of people from your own server filling the map?

What do you sugest as an alternative?.
Not going into overflow isn’t really an option, we already have people complaining about lag with the overflows in place, removing them would mean even more people and more lag in big fights like these. At least now going to overflow doesn’t mean missing the fight at all.

NEW FEATURES AND CONTENT
Looking For Group Tool Beta
The new Looking For Group system is just about ready to be added to the game to aid players in finding additional party members for content. We will start rolling out the beta version of this feature over the next several days. The quality of the system is our paramount goal, and to ensure that the demand for the system doesn’t negatively impact performance, we will be allowing access to a subset of the player base initially. We will roll out the feature to additional players as the beta test continues.
When the feature is fully activated, here’s what you can expect:
- Players can access the new system from the second tab on the Contacts panel, which has been renamed to “Contacts and LFG.”
- Players and parties can now join listed parties or host groups looking for additional members through the LFG system.
- Players and parties can create custom party descriptions to attract additional players.
- Parties that include mutual friends and guild members will be listed at the top of each subcategory.
- A new LFG chat filter has been added so that all messages from this new system can be filtered out.
- Players can report inappropriate party listings or individual players directly from the list of displayed entries or by right-clicking their names in the chat window.
- All party postings can be seen and joined by anyone near the player’s region, with the exception of Living World’s open world content, personal story, and WvW, which are restricted to the player’s home world only.
- Party entries are separated into the following categories and subcategories:
- Living World
- Open World Content (world-specific)
- Dungeons
- Ascalonian Catacombs
- Caudecus’s Manor
- Twilight Arbor
- Sorrow’s Embrace
- Citadel of Flame

- Introducing Bloodlust in the Borderlands:
- The lake in the center of the Borderlands maps has been replaced with new ruins of power.
- To make way for the ruins, the quaggan and krait have been removed entirely, as well as all the content related to them.
- The five ruins have unique art, and each contains a capture point that ties into the Borderlands Bloodlust buff.
- If players can hold three or more of the ruins simultaneously for two minutes, all players currently in WvW on that world will receive one stack of the Borderlands Bloodlust buff, to a maximum of three stacks.
- Every stack of the buff applies +50 to all stats, healing power, and condition damage. In addition, using a finisher on an enemy player while under the effects of the buff will award one point to the player’s world.
- The buff is not removed until players on an opposing world can capture and hold three or more of the five ruins for two minutes and acquire the buff for themselves.
- Control of the capture points at the ruins will slowly decay if no players from any team remain to defend them, until the ruins revert to neutral control.
- Each ruin has a master cannon build site. The site is controlled by the team that holds the ruin and requires 10 supply to build a cannon, which can be used for defending the point.
- Two sentry points have been added to the area around the ruins.
- Flame Ram Mastery has been added to the Rank and Abilities tab.
- Gain Iron Hide (damage reduction) while using the Flame Ram.
- Flame Blast now applies Structural Vulnerability (1% increased damage) to gates.
- Reduced the recharge of Flame Ram skills.
- New skill: Impact Slam—Applies damage to the gate and launches any enemy trying to repair the door.
- New skill: Iron Will—Applies Iron Hide to allies in a small area.

- Molten Alliance and Aetherblade phases now occur in between Twisted Watchwork phases.

General
- Fixed an issue whereby a character’s stats were not being immediately updated when selecting new stats for an equipped item.
- AoE Loot On Interact is much more responsive and will now properly function if the “Search” dialog is on-screen for a non-resource node. The text will now be replaced with “AoE Loot On Interact” to further indicate when these conditions are met. Using the mouse to click the prompt will only loot the specified target, regardless of the previous conditions. The AoE Loot On Interact functionality and the AoE Loot key binding have not been changed.
- The inebriated citizen who kept redecorating for Dragon’s Bash out of season has finally been apprehended. All out-of-season decor has been removed.

PAX guys (who never ever did the dragon before, and didn’t know a crap about him), easely got Tequatl down to 50/40/25% health (3 different teams).
My (overflow sadly) server never gotten him lower then 90% hp. Never. And everyone at least focused on something, nobody was standing still or suiciding himself.

I just want to get my two cents out there for the sake of those who think this update is a means to stop anyone from getting the new gear, less experienced players from enjoying the content, so on and so forth.
This event is made for the whole server to work united against a huge threat. And it has definitely made it feel as such. For what everyone has had to deal with as far as the hardest content, has been between Mad Kings Clocktower and Liadri. But never on a scale this large that required everyone making a team effort.
Is it tough? You bet, Impossible? No, a server has already proven that it can be beaten, and i tip my hat to them for their coordination and teamwork.
While i’m slightly worried that people will stop showing up to the event because of the fact it is so difficult (Looking back at Southshore and the Kraka.) I have no doubt people will want to for the chance for the Ascended weapons and such.
Congrats to the server(s?) that have beaten Tequatl, and here is hoping more servers will follow in victory!
Looking at the number of players and the amount of coordination that were required for Blackgate to beat Tequatl once… do you think that is a reasonable requirement for all servers? I don’t think so. In the long run, you are not going to bring that many players together every single time (if at all), and you’ll have many large groups of players wasting their time for 15 minutes. Something needs to be changed about this encounter. Failing due to a timer running out is lame. I would suggest either removing the timer entirely, or making it reset with each new phase. If the server is making progress, then he shouldn’t fly off. Having a server fail the event when Tequatl is at 10% health is just dumb and unfair.
Man, do you realise that the update went up less than 24h ago?
It’s the most difficult encounter Arenanet ever put in the game so it was predictable that people couldn’t succed without organisation and knowing the new mechanics, can’t you (and all people asking for nerf) just try to beat it as it is now without crying if you failed the event at the first try?
Ci Assediamo Da Soli [SIGH] ~ Officier
I find the calls for nerfs from the community very disheartening. A huge amount of content seemed quite difficult when we first played it whether it was the Aetherblade Retreat, SAB or the Queen’s Gauntlet encounters. However, in every single case players persevered and eventually succeeded and I am hoping it will be the same for this encounter too. Anet, please do not dumb down the content for the love of Dwayna!
Tequatl’s difficulty is great where it is. HOWEVER, after speaking with multiple people who completed it on BG, I think the rewards need to be better for completing it. And by that, I mean that it should be a MUCH better chance of getting something good.

Dear Arenanet,
you finally gave us an actual challenging world boss that can’t be killed with brainless autoattack in 2 mins.
That’s exactly what a good part of the community was asking for and you just did it pretty good, please don’t listen to the people asking for a nerf when they didn’t even try to stop that kitten autoattack, plug the brain and think about alternative ways to face him.
Thank you and keep up the hard work!
P.S.
FYI, I’m from FSP and we could damage Tequatl just for a 20~25% of his health.

For Everyone
- If you die, use a WP and get back. Staying dead scales up the event even though you are not participating.
- From ANET (Crystal Reid.2481)
Stacks of Hardened Scales do not reduce incoming damage. It is just a complete invulnerability at 20 stacks until the Bone Walls are killed.
(thanks Broadicea.8294 for letting us know)
DPS
- DPS Guide (thank you The Gates Assassin.9827):

- Use Powerful Potion of Undead Slaying for 10% more damage against him and 10% less damage taken.
Melee Tips
- If pure melee, try to remove poison fingers. They cause high damage to those on turrets
Turret Tips
Turrets (thanks to Broadicea.8294)
-1 Stake Thrower – Fires a stake, 1s recharge.
-2 Scale Penetration – Reduces his armor, 12s recharge (important for ensuring walls stay down and don’t interfere with DPS)
-3 Poison Cleanse (aoe) – 5s recharge
-4 Hylek Elixir (aoe) – pulses 1 stack might, fury, and quickness once per second for 8 seconds. 15s recharge (EXTREMELY useful for increasing DPS)
-5 Hylek Salve – Protection, Regen, Vigor, 5.5s ,15s recharge
