Sorry, I know I’ve been somewhat absent from the forums for much of this year. That’s something I aim to remedy.
Hey everyone,
With Tuesday’s release we are gearing up to launch the new Looking For Group tool for Guild Wars 2. As the system comes online, our primary focus is with the quality and the stability. To ensure a solid rollout, we’ll turn on the LFG tool in beta form to a subset of players. As the week goes on, we’ll periodically unlock the system to additional groups of players.
In Tuesday’s release notes, you’ll see the complete list of what the feature will do once we’ve fully unlocked the system. However, during the beta rollout not everyone will be able to use the LFG tool and the World vs. World subcategories will be disabled.
The Looking for Group feature has been highly requested and we’re excited to be this close to its final release, but quality is paramount. Therefore, we ask for your patience and understanding while we work through this phased beta rollout and with any problems we encounter.
Thanks,
Mike Zadorojny
& the Looking For Group team
People already harass each other over enough stuff. Whether it be builds, what profession they are running, what food they are running, and so on. I’d suggest removing the idea of controlling that from consideration when making these decisions.
This argument boils down to “Well it’s happening already. So let’s just do whatever.” I agree that people harass other people and part of what we try and do is mitigate that. So, we wouldn’t make a change that would exacerbate that, unless it had a major pay off. This doesn’t fit that criteria.
While it is very unlikely we would put supply runs in straight up like this, it is very likely something of this nature will make its way into the game in the future. I too think there would be a serious value to allowing supply to be strategically moved by players. One note is that we would not likely set it up such that players could pull supply from a depot and move it to another directly, because that would almost definitely create some serious conflict and open the door to griefing and sabotage even more than it already is. It’s definitely on the table though.
I primarily PvE but I still don’t see the actions over the last year as reasonable attempts to make ascended items fairly available to WvW players. I don’t care what you’d like to do, I only care about what you actually do.
Speaking as someone who has only gotten Ascended gear via WvW vendors, I’d say that’s nonsense. Speaking as a developer, we are continuing to make this better, which is not to say perfect. There will be more ways to acquire the ascended mats as part of the season and we will look into adding yet additional ways after that.
As it’s been mentioned in the OP, there have been responses by Dev regarding Bloodlust. If you wish to discuss it, please do so on the open thread.
They probably want to see how things play out at first.
If it really is as worse as players make it out to be, they will change it in the future, but as seen in previous patches players tend to “overreact” to changes.
Hope there is something for Earth shield in there too.
There is a little bit on that actually!
Heading out for the night!

I’ll be the source. The invasions are sticking around until the Scarlet storyline is complete. Telling you exactly when it will end would probably spoil a lot of stuff. You can at least count on them regularly occurring through the end of this year.
In Guild Wars 2, the monsters raid you.
Also, check out Guild Missions
There are some changes in the upcoming release to mitigate the severity of this problem. We’re also looking at making some long-term improvements to the Twisted Clockwork invasions.
As somebody who wants to finish the event (because I am primarily motivated by success, not loot), I am so. so. so. tired of farmers ruining this for me. If you fixed it so that champs didn’t spawn when the Aetherblade Pirate Captain is up (and, like you suggested, added Empyreal Fragments on victory), I think that’d go a long way toward making it better.
Having farmers doesn’t make the event go slower than if they weren’t present. You’re assuming if the farmers weren’t able the farm, they would help you finish the event. They’d instead be in Frostgorge farming champs and you’d likely be doing the event all by yourself.
It hasn’t been forgotten. But it hasn’t moved either. :-)
Unless people stop showing up, it wont fail. Its just going to take longer now.
Tequatl will have anti-zerg mechanics. Numbers will no longer guarantee victory.
Since when is 80 man event NOT a zerg?? lol
When the event has mechanics that make just trying to burn him down useless.
If the Hyleck guns are not used to cleanse the aoe poison pools, debuff the bone stacks preventing the bone wall, and defended the event will fail. If the Batteries are not defended and the large asura gun not fired, the event will fail. If all this isn’t done in 15 minutes multiple times, the event will fail. Just because something requires lots of players doesn’t mean it’s a zerg. When it involves lots of players and requires coordination between them, then it’s a battle.
^ this exactly.
People keep thinking that pressing 1 and standing in front of him will be enough. Tequatl’s Fingers are buffed now, and can no longer be ignored. The new Tidal Wave attack will probably down everyone who doesn’t pay attention. Etc etc etc. In fact, people with the zerg mindset will probably be the first ones to complain that Tequatl is too hard now.
From the preview video, it looks like servers will need to organize at least 6 different teams to cover the Fingers, defend the Turrets, attack Tequatl, debuff armor and cleanse poison pools, and even power rez downed players. And that’s only the attack phase.
In GW2, Trading Post plays you!

Tequatl will spawn in a similar fashion as the Clockwork Invasion. If an overflow is created within 10 minutes of the event spawning, he will also spawn there as well.
Oh boy! Hourly fights confirmed!
I didn’t say hourly. ^_-
Hey guys,
We agree with you. This has been something that has been greatly discussed and is definitely on our radar. There isn’t a time frame set yet, but I just just wanted to let you know it is something we are looking to change for the future. Sorry I can’t give more details at this time.
Sweet mother of mercy, I can already see Greatswords with bloodlust and +5% dmg

There wont be much coordination. Tequatl will just be run over by what is Zerg Wars 2.
You never know what might be possible in a post-LFG tool GW2.

I’d also like to thank ArenaNet for making something this epic and cool. Tequatl 2.0 is a lot of fun and what I’d expect of a dragon champion. I very much look forward to puzzling out how to bring him down with my fellow servermates. Keep up the good work!

TY Anet for finally making something epic and cool.Queen Festiwal was meh.Im norn i dont care about Human princess birthday.
Keep making cool content!
The LFG looked great on twitch. I’m super excited for this to be added into the game!
Just wanted to say thanks Anet for finally implementing an actual LFG tool for specific dungeons/other stuff, will be nice not having to alt tab constantly at gw2lfg trying to find a group, this is probably one of the best updates yet.
You don’t get loot at Tequatl until the event is finished based on your participation. Clockwork, as Saden said, was a huge problem because you got loot with or without completing the invasion. ArenaNet learned from that horrid mistake that made a living world event be nothing but a farm for failing.
