First we get lame looking Ascended Weapons,now it has matching ugly Ascended Armor.

I just want to see a return of a lot of the armor skins from GW1. Sigh It’s been a year and still all we have are the Krytan (very nice), Primeval (also nice) and Profane (freaking hideous) skins. Also, what’s up with the price disparity between these and the newer skins?
I’ve seen mounts in other MMOs. They always try to add cooler and cooler mounts. It always ends up the same, it becomes sillier and sillier. So normally I would be against this. But since we already have wings, fake Norn ’staches, 16bit weapons and other things…wth, go for it, aesthetic of the game is already ruined.
Why not add cosmetic mounts. Obviously mounts are for looks, but even then, screw the movement speed, what about just having a mount for the looks.
Imagine riding a horse without the speed boost, I would LOVE that. It would add a whole new dimension to rewarding players. It’s like mini pets BUT PEOPLE ACTUALLY CARE. Why? Because you’re riding it around, it’s not a little pet on the ground no one can see or cares about.
Allow PvP-only mounts that can be used in PvE and WvW as well. Like I said, no movement boost, just for the looks.
That’s all. Stop releasing open world content on your servers which can’t handle the stress. It is making your game unplayable. Instance that shiz.
Its simple, lots of people have same feeling maybe u have too. The GW2 is still in beta phase. They said many times. It will release, when its ready. That’s ok, but NCSoft said: I say when it’s ready. NCsoft needed the money urgently and it’s released. After a year we can say, the beta phase is over.
They don’t ignore, just lots of thing to do, some more important, other less. Just be patient, you supported them for a year, they will repay your support/patient. These things will do, just patient. There are great opportunities in the game. I’m really looking forward to an expansion. They need to do something quickly before ESO release. That game great opponent can be.
Those nerfs to Healing Spring are both unnecessary and very damaging to ranger support in dungeon teams. The long duration water field and the ability to boost melee vigour was one of the best tools a ranger could bring to get players to want them in a party.
Rangers so starved of desirable support options, hitting two of their bigger ones in PvE (and WvW) is such a stupid move. It won’t kill rangers in dungeons but a ranger are just getting further away from that slot in the party.
My staff ele has so much complexity in the boons it offers, the utility it offers and the support it can provide (water fields, blast finishers, control skills, condition removal) it was really nice for the ranger to boast the longest lasting water field in the game and be able to trait for vigour to prove that small bonus to the party to make the warriors happy the ranger dropped it. That really sucks if it makes it through.
Water fields are central to how the WvW meta works, zerg combat revolves around dropping water fields and using blast finishers. A 33% duration nerf to the best tool rangers brought to the WvW meta is going to lead to even more rangers desperately searching for a way to contribute to their server and coming up a full 5 seconds shorter.
This is a really solid argument.
I hope Anet hears it and explores other ways (LIKE TRAITS) to give us that 33% back if we were really counting on it. One example: Making the Boon Duration & Condition Modding stats also improve the duration of all Fields and Combo effects that we initiate. For example: I have to run both Torch, and fire-trap just to keep a Fireshield on myself even 66% of the time and I’m literally jumping through hoops just to get that much. Having to sacrifice too many of our Utility slots is a real problem and we need better build support and compression in this specific area.
If you’ve ever utilized an Ele’s Combos/Initiatiors for example, you notice instantly that their durations last almost twice as long as our’s do. That’s just not fair!

In short Why I don’t play the ranger ?
Because he has a useless pet.
I have lvl 80 ranger alt, that I leveled because I really like the weapons and style of game play it offers. Access to stealth, traps, evasion, and some skills are absolutely fabulous like GS 3 (Swoop), Horn 4 (Hunter’s call), Longbow 5 (Barrage), Lightning reflexes … Those skills might not be meta build, but they are really satisfying to use. And I would really like to play the ranger more. But every time I log into character selection screen I don’t pick ranger and here is why:
It’s true Ranger is packing some really nice tools but there is also this THING that you HAVE TO HAVE (MUST) no way around it … called pet. Stupid, annoying, pesky, nagging, AI from 1992, unresponsive, useless and needless creature you that will follow you no matter what.
I get it, there are players (quite a lot of them) who like to play eternally bounded pet classes, but there are also players (not as much as those spider lovers but still a lot) who would prefer to play this same class only without a pet.
Now I don’t have a problem with pet’s existence (any more) since I am playing games for a long time and in games there is this thing called: we (the developers) have putted sooooooooo much work into this, and that’s why you (the players) will play this if you like it or not, and if don’t like it we will push it down your throat.
So far I have not see a MMO that would have a pet class where the developers would, even on huge request of community, allow non pet builds/traits/perks, yet alone to change a class from pet class to optional pet class.
And the main reason why pets will stay is because there will always be more kitten lovers than players who would prefer the petless play style. And the forum logic is If you don’t like pet style go f yourself and reroll …
Okay pets are here to stay but they for sure can change. No worries my fellow bear huggers I am not taking your teddy bear away from you. I simply wish if you would be so nice and would allow me to play the same class a bit differently, I promise some of the changes you will grow to love as well.
Wish 1
The bare minimum I am asking for is altered Stow pet functionality or something similar. Stow pet ability (as it is now) allows you to hide the pet, but as soon as you jump and take 2 damage from falling your pet is back annoying your screen space. What I would like to have is: if you would shift/alt/ctrl/whatever/right click on stow pet it would toggle into a more pet less style of gameplay. I am going call this mode stow pet purple (icon) and in this mode the pet stays hidden ALL the time, until you call it with F1, then the pet comes and helps in attack and when the combat ends it vanishes without me pressing the stow pet button. The same way the messmer clones work … if not called they don’t come to kitten on your screen while in JP
and as soon as combat ends they know they are no longer wonted.
PS: The most clicked ability with a mouse in gw2 is stow pet.
On behalf of all players who are okay with pet system, as long as It is not kittenting my screen space when I don’t want it. Please give us an option to play without them.
Even the hardest Moa lovers will admit that doing JP without constant pet spawning is useful.
Wish 2
A trait that removes pet and increases player damage. Now here is the logic behind it:
Let’s say pet does 40% of ranger damage and with trait you lose the pet and it’s utilities but gain 20% flat damage increase.
All the top tier rangers would still play with pets because positioning the pet and yourself can give you better spike damage, overall damage is better, you get pet F2 skills …
But a lot of rangers would find this trait interesting because they are not on the same level of micromanaging their pet as the top ones … so this would greatly enhanced their gameplay
Ranger + pet + micromanagment is the most optimal > Ranger + trait – pet less optimal but is much easier > nubs who have pet and don’t micro manage it ( ME atm)
The trait could be balanced not only by damage but also by utility like traited you lose pet but all your stealth is 1 sec longer or when you have 4 condition on you then you are immune to any other condition applied … the ideas are endless
With such way you also solve the problem that rangers have while defending in WvW … your pet is almost useless on top of the wall. Not to mention the pets performance in zerg vs zerg skirmishing
This is the point of view of someone who has ALT ranger that is sitting and collecting dust. And the reasons why I am not playing ranger.
I know there is a big community inside the ranger community that would like to remove pet at lest as an option. But I do think that most rangers agree pets are the more annoying part while playing ranger.

Back in beta just before launch, Rangers where a very strong and popular; especially for botting. Then they where hit with several nerfs to counter the botting. As you can see from their chart, the 2 most heavy botted professions are on top of the list.
i find it absolutely ridicilous that we have to beg devs to come into the ranger forum
we really want our voices to be heard
and for some buggs to be fixed (for example there are like 3 bugfix threads on this page and on the bugfix page but no one has responded to them wheras warrior and necromancer bugs get responses)
all i want are some responses anet come on 1/8th of the people play this classs and we deserve some love

Guess we know what direction this game is going at least..
The direction anet is on is why I was logged in for 15 minutes last night to complete my daily..and promptly logged off.
So first they get rid of ranger players. The next step was to get rid of ranger playing devs :P
The plan is working, pets are awesome!
Another Ranger bites the dust…
a bit to long to read you may lose many peoples attension. but any how back to subject I feel commander tags should also give a comander 10 extra trait points only if he is repping his commander tag. As 100g just for a hat and not much perks I got disapointed when I got mine. But it would make sense to give commanders a bit more trait points and or skills of some sort that normal players cant use.
I feel it highly probable that you are working on the obsidian armor (no sources) since in GW1 it needed Obsidian Shards and Globs of Ectoplasms, that are also available here. I suspect those changes with the karma potions are not ‘just because’. =)
By adding the Obsidian armor set with similar ingredients would restore the value of karma and ecto. /also it could be the first set of ascended armor… maybe?/
IF you are working on it, PLEASE, forget about skirts as heavy armors!
PB Shot with no cooldown would be overpowered. Lower I could see.
My biggest complaint with LB is the timing of the auto attack. For SB, there should be more benefit for position.
LB: The closer you are the faster the attack should be. After all, it does less damage.
For short bow, you should change the duration of the bleed. In front X seconds. Flank 1.5X. Rear 2X.
i see that metaphors are not your strong point, so let me explain were you are wrong;
everywhere.
Perhaps a ranger with their trench coat type things could use a scarf, type cape slot item. Also I agree it would nice to have a quiver and a cape both, but I think the cape would have to take the back slot. It’s a sacrifice I’d be willing to make though.
A new approach to an idea I had earlier:
In short:
Weapon Trainers – in cities, train you to use new skills for weapons your class can use.
or
Weapon Skill Unlocks – more skills will unlock at after default skills are unlocked only at a slower pace.
Weapon Masters – Hidden throughout Tyria, teach a specific skill for a specific weapon at level 80. These skills give a character a feel of power
These skills are swappable with the default weapon skills, same as utility skills.
A bit more:
Lets use a greatsword for example. It has 5 skills to it. At different levels you can learn from weapon skill trainers a few new skills that you can swap out with the starting default skills. Even better though, hidden though-out Tyria are Weapon specialist – old combat legends – that will teach you an even more advanced skill for a weapon (only at level 80). These skills are more flashy than the default ones and give a player a feeling of progression to combat as they level up and the feeling that a character is becoming more skilled with their weapons and powerful.
Another idea to the acquisition of weapon skills after your default skills are unlocked and would be that instead of weapon trainers, weapon skills would unlock the more you use a weapon. The weapon would level up so to say but in a horizontal manner rather than doing more damage. Maybe only certain unlocks are available at each 20, 40, 60 interval.
Make some noise if you’d like to see this implemented!
