Should remove immobilize, chill and cripple like thief Withdraw. The CD is okay, i think…only takes 10 points for the CD reduction trait.
/edit: I also would remove the damage. Could be useful to disengage after LB stealth, then.

Wow, can’t believe the garbage being spouted in here these days. Rangers are kittened, even ANet know that. They are especially a joke in dungeons, really broken. Now we have people saying that they shouldn’t be using bows if they want to play ranger. How broken is that?
Rangers regularly get kicked from parties because everyone knows how crap they are, and yet still we get people saying they are fine! Unbelievable.
-All these captured so i could have multiple wallpapers for my PC.
-None of these are from vistas (or at least i think).
-All of these are MINE!
-All are just Print Screen with me in /sleep or /swim <~~ ^^
-My Graphic Settings are pretty low, but still the beauty of the game still remains.
Plz A-Net, just do what he said.
I really like your vision of the Game hope some of your ideas will find their way into the game!
Well Maybe It’ s just me but I m going to quit becouse seriously I loved so much playing with pets and now it’ s simply impossible..( they nerfed the leash range too that was hilarious :P ) With beastmastery build you could reach really top levels at spvp and wvw but now It’ s not possible anymore. I’ ve spent like 100 gold buying diffferent type of gears and runes just to try all what was worthy to try but It’ s useless. And I repeat guys if you re happy of the current ranger status well That shows you don’ t know what ranger beastmastery status was before the nerf ^^ Have fun with your pro ranger
- [#1] Long Range Shot ¾ Shoot your foe from long range. The farther the arrow flies, the more damage it does @ base of 1500 Range. Bit improved base damage values.
I would move the current highest damage to the lowest range and give bonus if you keep your target at range
- [#2] Rapid Fire 4½ 10sec Fire multiple arrows at your foe @ 1200 Range. Minor Bleeding.
Adding bleed to a white damage skill will cause white damage to be reduced
- [#3] Hunter’s Shot 12sec Applies 10 stacks of Vulnerability. Fire a shot that strikes for more damage the less health your target has @ 1200 Range
Flip it around, more damage if target has more health (this one is opinion)
- [#4] Point Blank Shot ½ 15sec Push back your foe with a point-blank shot. The closer they are, the farther it pushes them back. Grants you 5sec stealth when it hits.
(Pet’s damage don’t breaking it any longer)The good thing with stealth on hunter’s shot is that you can refresh remorseless and keep applying vulnerability. Placing stealth on a knockback is not wise because it will force you to give up on the ability to escape in order to apply more vulnerability
- [#5] Barrage 2¾ 30sec Barrage the target area with a hail of arrows that cripple.
Reduce cooldown to 25sec, increase damage. This is the only ranged AoE we have and the answer to what’s special with rangers should include “Their barrage”. This skill, simply put, should be a pain in the ** for the enemies.*
Last state of the game video I watched it was mentioned that the pet would get no more control options because the skill curve would be too steep for new players. While Ranger is my profession of choice because I like to outplay enemies while having to maintain good situational awareness, I have mixed feelings about this one.
For one; it could mean the developers consider the pet control to be in good shape.
While I disagree, I tried to quit micromanaging my pet in WvW (non-zerg situations) and found it responded better in most situations. I hate playing as passive as that, but I hate it more when my pet does not respond to the command I give it. Let me explain:
F1: Apart from the horrible range I can use this at, by the time I use any attack on my target my pet will swoop in anyway so unless I had to make the pet target something different than me (which was not going to happen; if another target had priority, I’d switch target myself and if I had not pressed F1 my pet would follow me anyway.) It generally feels unresponsive and lackluster.
F2: Works occasionally, if the pet feels like it. If the pet does not cast the skill and I press it a second time in a short timespan, the skill goes on cooldown for a few seconds and simply does nothing. Rarely did I find this work “as intended.” The spider’s poison and the reef drake’s underwater combo field used to be instant cast before the last update, now I find the same thing happening so I switched back to my bird+wolf.
F3: Works better and generally faster than the other skills, unless the pet is using an attack animation at the time. Only a few times did I find this command ignored.
F4: My best pet management option for one reason only: it always casts instantaneously, and thus feels responsive.
That said, the pet feels like a fire and forget weapon because it is. Even if no more micromanagement options are added or no AI is improved, it would go a long way to atleast make the F1-F3 skills feel like they are making a difference. Instant cast time would at the very least make the pet commands feel as if they make you a better player if you learn how to use them.

I agree completely, we still lack a overall vision, and these updates aren’t helping any.
We need some serious consolidation.
Do not celebrate these changes. They are ill conceived and not internally consistent with the trait layout. Biggest example: Longbow is, apparently, all about stacking vulnerability now. So Marksmanship, right? Extra condition duration when you invest. But if you want to drop the cooldown, you have to put 20 points into Skirmishing. There’s 50 of your 70 trait points.
Greatsword is another example. It’s cooldown reducer is in Wilderness Survival. Which gives condition damage. Bleed on Maul is now vulnerability. Great. So now I have to choose between cooldown or longer vulnerability. Oh, and the one handed sword is still useless since you can not reliably dodge while using it.
You even throw us a bone and make Warhorn #5 a blast finisher. Except that it’s still a 35 second cooldown. Warriors have a Warhorn blast finisher that can go as low as 16 seconds, and provides the single most important defensive buff – Vigor.
Apparently, ANet, you don’t want anyone to actually play the Ranger. Well, congratulations. You win – I give up. I’m retiring my Ranger until such time as you hire someone to actually make the Ranger into a viable profession, because the people you have in charge of it do not seem to be taking each facet of the profession into account. Sit down, figure out what role or playstyle you want each weapon to support, then craft around it. Scrap what you have now and start over.
They want bows to be relegated to secondary defensive weapons, which is sad. I like playing primary ranged single target dps, and we’re currently lacking that in a big way in GW2.
I am very unhappy with the change to Hunter’s Shot… It seems inappropriately placed. I agree that it would work with Point Blank Shot if we absolutely have to have a stealth, but why did you take away the Vulnerability?
With this change, the long bow has only 3 shots that work in regular attacks… I was already down one shot with PBS being only selectively useful.
I feel that there is no purpose or benefit to this change. Most of the other things make sense… this does not.
I’m quite unhappy.
They nerfed some of our best pets, like the wolf, 5o percent. My pet dies standing at my side in WvW yet we don’t have an option to stow them in combat. It’s ridiculous.
They also severely nerfed longbow damage in this patch, and gave us some wonky stealth mechanic that doesn’t work all that well. It is supposedly an escape tool, but you have to shoot someone to get stealth and that puts you in combat and slows you down. We still have variable range damage which is horrible given the realities of WvW and PVE where a lot of combat occurs at close range. Longbow has a very narrow cone of fire in front of it and it is kitten near impossible to circle kite someone at close range with it as you will cancel the shot with the slightest turn.
Oh, did I mention that Rapid Fire still looks like this:
Obstructed, Obstructed, Out of Range, 1256, Obstructed.
Out of 8 times I tracked my use of stealth in WvW it has failed 6 times and worked twice. One time it failed was due to a warrior blocking it and the other times I have no clue. Beyond that my impression is that it fails a lot though I haven’t been keeping tabs or noticing why it fails. Add that to Point Blank Shot which routinely fails due to the 1/2 second cast time allowing NPCs and humans to get behind you and cause the shot to fail.
I don’t know why some people are so enthusiastic about the changes. The class is still broken and while stealth is a “step in the right direction” it is a baby step and still dysfunctional and of marginal utility given its high failure rate and requirement that you hit someone. It simply is not something you can rely on in combat and at best it’s kind of a Hail Mary Pass and nothing else.
We have pets? I thought we had mobile buff stations.

Hunter’s Shot is basically completely useless now with the way I built my ranger. It’s rare for me to even visit the forums, and I usually don’t bother with reading the patch notes unless I’m trying to learn about event stuff, so I didn’t see any of this coming. I used Hunter’s Shot mainly to apply the 10 stacks of vulnerability and used it in a skill rotation I used. But because it no longer adds 10 stacks, and instead applies (what I find useless) 3 sec stealth, which I never needed, it has been completely removed from my skill rotation
The only reason I now use Hunter’s Shot is if I’m shooting at something from great range and want my pet to get to my target quickly, and that’s it. I’m not saying the vulnerability added to Rapid Fire is a bad thing, I’m just saying Hunter’s Shot is completely useless to me now. I might find a situation where stealth might come in handy, but with my play style, that will be extreamly rare
Once your pet has engaged the target, most mobs will completely ignore you (the player) and your pet will do the tanking. There’s just no need to stealth. It is now the only bow skill (both LB and SB) I find pointless in PvE. I’m not much of a PvPer so I can’t speak on that level
I can ‘maybe’ see it useful when I solo champions and the champ decides to ignore my pet, but soloing champions isn’t something I actively seek out to do
Don’t feed the trolls. Everyone with half a brain is loving this change.
You are one hundred percent correct. People with half a brain like this change.
Don’t feed the trolls. Everyone with half a brain is loving this change.
OP, honestly I feel for you since you don’t like the aesthetic of the new stuff. You’re right, you now have no more reason to try to advance your AP than you did before this system was implemented, and that does suck.
But realistically, what do you expect them to do? There’s just no way they’d be able to make armor and weapon sets that appeal to everyone. Look at the current armor in the game. Is there any single set that is universally loved? I’d say no way, though there are certainly some that are preferred by large portions of the players, like Arah armor. I think that’s probably what they were trying to do with these sets.
Lots of people like scary fiery looking armor, so they did some pieces like that, even though we already have a fire set. For the people who don’t like that look, they tried to do something that is the exact opposite as well, very shiny, almost holy warrior-esque armor. I don’t like either one of them very much, but honestly, it looks to me like they were trying to appeal to as many players as possible in designing these sets, so I can’t very well be offended that they haven’t given me a set that really caters to my taste.

EDIT: This post is about TEMPORARY content, not the Bi-Weekly updates. Please keep that in mind when posting.
TL:DR Section Below!
No misleading Title here guys. I honestly believe ArenaNet are shooting themselves in the foot with their focus on Temporary content or “Living Story”
The notion that constantly creating new temporary content in two week intivals will be good for anyone is fundimentally flawed.
So we stay on topic let me state this: This post is not implying that regular bi-weekly content over an expansion is fundimentaly flawed (Though I am personally against it.) or that it is impossible to create a compelling story in such a way. The purpose of this post is to go over why an MMO dedicated to temporary content, reguardless of that contents quality cannot succeed.
As a demontration. I’m going to throw out a scenario based on a recent real world Media Succes: Game of Thrones. (Feel free to sub in any Show/Book/Game/Media/Etc. if you don’t like Game Of Thrones!)
Imagine if HBO discovered a way to distribute the show that was 100% Pirate proof, and then deceides to run the show a limited number of times over a limited time frame to encourage more viewers. Their viewers are already invested in the show so they figure they’ll make the effort to watch it. Sure enough their viewership would rise AT FIRST. This is because by using this method HBO has stoped new viewers from getting into the show. Why would a new viewer want to jump into the story half way? Can you imagine how hard that would be to follow? Now put yourself into the shoes of the viewers who HAD been watching the show up until that point. What if, for some reason, say holidays or sickness, they missed a few episodes? Now they have the choice of either carrying on knowing they’ll not be able to experiance that part of the show or to stop watching it. Some will inevitablly choose to stop watching. Over time the viewerbase would drop off and in the long term it wpu;d be harmful to the show, Both for HBO and for the viewers.
This is EXACTLY what Guild Wars 2 is doing to itself with its focus on temporary content. By putting in and then removing content instead of constantly building apon previously relased content you are creating a barrier to new players that want to try your game. In Guild Wars 1 Anet successfully removed a barrier to new players wanting to try their product by eliminating the Subscription Fee model. By focusing on temporary content they are creating another barrier to new players wanting to try their game, and worse, this one cannot be circumvented by simply paying a monthly fee.
I may have missed something here, and that’s why I’m making this post, but what exactly are the benifits of focusing on temporary content? The only benifit I can think of that someone might put forwards is that temporary content makes the game more immersive.
Does realesing any media on a limited timeframe make it more immersive? I honestly do not belive it does. All it does is create a sense of urgancey to make it SEEM more immersive. And if Guild Wars 2 can’t realese content that is immersive and entertaining without rellying on creating a sense of urgancy to back it up is that content worth realeseing in the first place?
TL:DR

Temporary content, reguardless of the quality, would be better off being permentant so as not to alienate new and returning Guild Wars 2 players

I immediately noticed this and it drives me mad, especially because the animation has the hand idle in front of the chest after loosing an arrow when it could clearly be reaching for another in the quiver. FIX IT PLEASE!!! Not that they will…
Not sure if anyone else noticed this, but characters are no longer reaching towards their back in an attempt to grab an arrow (from the imaginary quiver) with the changed aftercast on Long Range Shot auotcast. Instead they are leaning forward to grab the bowstring. I have posted screenshots for before and after. The reaching back toward the quiver can be recreated by turning off LRS autocast and not spamming the 1 key.
I have also posted this in the Bugs forum as well, just in case it is in fact, a bug.

Dear devs,
You’ve always said that you want to increase the number of valid build options within each profession, and in that respect the power/crit ranger has always trailed behind the more popular ranger setups in terms of usage adoption. It’s a setup that needs a little bit of love in order to gain popularity, yet it continues to receive what appear to be ‘contingent nerfs’, i.e. nerfs that were targeted at other setups but inadvertently (I assume) end up affecting the berserker ranger as well. The original quickness nerf and the loss of zephyr’s speed both hurt the berserker ranger’s DPS output, and I’m guessing this was unintended as I don’t see how this setup can be considered over-powered or over-utilized.
Zephyr’s Speed was a key trait for power/crit rangers, who stood to benefit most from it as they have the highest direct dps, and surely you must realize how much they needed it to compete. I can only assume that ZS was swapped with Instinctual Bond to take BM rangers down a notch, but in doing so you gravely hurt berserker rangers by making the trait totally inaccessible at the bottom of the Beastmastery line. Your balance team surely knows better than I do what’s best for the game, but in this occasion there may have been alternative options that might have better promoted ranger balance. Perhaps ZS could have been moved somewhere along the marksmanship line, for example? This would have kept it accessible to berserker rangers, while promoting build diversity.
I highly doubt I’ll ever see Zephyr’s Speed again on my berserker ranger, I just hope someone from the dev team reads this post as I can’t help but think that more thought could have been put into the swap with Instinctual Bond.
TLDR: Berserker rangers were in no way in need of a nerf, but were badly hurt by the loss of Zephyr’s Speed, which is now totally inaccessible as it requires 30 points in the BM line. Anet should consider moving this trait to a different trait line (marksmanship?) to promote build diversity.

So you are saying that u are fine looking EXACTLY the same facially as every other 8th-10th person at least? not saying that we have to go to the extreme but at least a bit more would be better.
Dueling
Fix ranger
Make spvp not so kittenty
I can wait .. and see.
After 8 months of deleted content and hype that amounted to sorely needed bug fixes and gameplay polish, I need to see some actual improvement to get excited.
Not just some mysterious innuendo and Wallpapers.
I liked the music you used in the video, but since English is not your first language I would lower the volume a bit more so your voice can be heard more clearly over it (or increase the volume of your voice).
I agree with you about the fact that there should be more skins available because in a game like this making your character stand out really is important. It’s all about role playing, and you can’t really do that if every other person you see is wearing the same thing. I truly hope a-net delivers with their new achievement system and gives us some new armor we can enjoy.
I actually REALLY hope they do the right thing here and not have you SPEND points on cosmetics.
It should be a progression system similar to HoM imo, where the more points you get the more stuff you unlock, and have access to via some merchant or NPC.
a beastmaster can be easily taken out !
only fools will go toe to toe with the pet… just straight up on the ranger and you get a free food
im a beastmaster only people who are smart enough they will ignore my pet and chase me and thats how i got killed …… there isn’t much escape ability for ranger
just look at thief with shadow step and stealth, any thief that lost in a fight of 1 v 1 is a noob theif
