For the Points per Tick idea, why not make keeps start off giving low number of points and the longer you control it the more points it accumulates. That would prevent the LETS CAP EVERYTHING AND THEN LEAVE IT TO DIE! I started enjoying playing defense on my side of the map instead of zerging….

lastly WHO-EVER convinced devs to try and focus on condi guardian please tell them to stop and focus more on increasing direct damage output or continue and GIVE us more condition and make them trigger faster

You’re restricting yourself. Have you tried a burst roaming meds build in WvW? That’s a lot of fun. There are other options too, like condition hybrids or spirit weapons. Spirit Weapons work pretty well in PvP, not so much WvW.
I have tried a Meditation build. I always find that I can’t out-heal the damage I take or remove the conditions the enemy applies. I’ve gone against Engineers and Rangers that regenerate faster than I can. I tried a condition build, and I found my survivabilty tank to a point where I couldn’t stand in combat for more than 8 seconds. I’ve tried to manage a variety of the basic builds, but I just find it too difficult to take down any opponents.
Guardian feels like a very difficult class to play in a competitive environment, and not because my opponents are the challenging part. With a low health pool, we melt under conditions, so we need to adapt for condition removal. Adapting for condition removal restricts our traits so heavily that we can’t trait for offense. Guardians can’t output the same power of conditions because we have one condition to apply. Meanwhile, other professions can gain condition removal, self-healing, and still apply tons of conditions on the opponent.
To any Guardian that can manage their own in PvP, I salute you, sincerely.
I recommend you try the DPS meta guardian build, it is great, check the top of the forums for Obal’s guide on it. AH is very poor for pve as it lacks damage and support. You cannot be a viable healer in pve and a viable tank, that is something you need to adapt your play style to
I don’t really want to do solid DPS, that’s the point. I’d like to think there is more to building a character besides the meta. As for my Altruistic Healing build, I can face-tank most dungeons only by dodging the strongest attacks. With a constant wave of Symbol of Protection (and 6 seconds of Protection per symbol), Empowering Might, Sigils of Blood/Restoration/Water, Virtue of Resolve, and Omnomberry Creams, I can out-heal anything thrown at me. It’s not that I don’t enjoy the tanking aspect, but I find that there are a lot of skills that offer nothing in the build. It’s quite literally “press #1 to win.”

Well, it’s just a cop-out for the devs having no idea what to do with the guardian.
- They don’t want to make it a tank because “no trinity”.
- They don’t want to make it a healer because “no trinity”. (also healing doesn’t scale well in this game anyway)
- They don’t want to give it more damage because that would make it a warrior.
- We have only one condition but it doesn’t stack.
- We have weak CC’ss so we can’t keep enemies on the ground like some other classes.
What can we do well? We can buff groups. That’s pretty much it. We are buffing machines for WvW and dungeons. And I’m pretty sure the warrior can do it better now.
A sneak peak:
1. Take some of the stuff that people hate the most about EotM and bring it into WvW.
2. Add some more mastery skills that no one wants
3. The swiss tournament method wasn’t bad enough. Find an even worse model for season 3.
4. Add in more living story events into WvW
5. Reduce the drop rate of dragonite
6. Eliminate the possibility of ascended armor drops
Give them some credit. Everyone requested more features for the commander system. They delivered by making it so that enemies can no longer see the commander. That should pretty much satisfy everyone. Nothing else needed.

I don’t know why anybody would stick with the guardian at this point.
Communal Defenses: Grant 5 seconds of aegis to allies in a 360 range when you block an attack.
-The only reason I’d ever go 30 into Valor is for Medi builds or Zergball AH
Force of Will: Gain up to 300 vitality, based on your level.
-The only reason I’d ever go 30 into Honor is for the Pure of Voice
Purity of Body: Virtue of Resolve’s passive effects increase endurance regeneration by 15%.
-NO ONE EVER GOES 30 INTO VIRTUES
Amplified Wrath: Burning damage is increased by 33%.
-No one goes 30 into Zeal, are you crazy? Even 20 is asking to much for pve dps
Radiant Retaliation: Retaliation damage scales from condition damage instead of power.
-Scales less than power, and going condition means losing melee dmg AND I never go 30 into this trait line either, 25 MAX.

Congrats, Anet, on getting the feature pack out and in the hands of your players. I’m sure that took a lot of time from the team over the past several months.
I’m sure you have projects a-foot to optimize the elements and complete implementation, but could I put forth the suggestion that you revisit WvW and PvP? The leagues and seasons are a lot of fun, but the underlying system could really use some retooling to hold player interest and improve the quality of the gaming in WvW especially.
Improving the commander model, disincentiving Zergs and promoting defense would improve a core gameplay (wvw) that keep many of your players coming back to GW2. Without some vision and affection I worry that players will start moving to other games with large scale PvP options.

Game would be better if they combined all the borderlands into one massive map, preventing huge zergs from responding to a 5 man team capturing a tower and basically making the came not fun for the small-fry.
The maps are too small, it’s way to easy for a zerg to respond to anywhere on the map within minutes.

Any word on progress with this topic? How convoluted is your achievements database that it can’t handle some tweaks to a few values? Have you explored the option of moving the current broken WvW achieves to historical and releasing ones that work? What’s the real harm in that anyway, they’re as good as a gangrenous limb in their current state.
its a coverage game. you win by transferring to the server with the highest population. not saying thats a good thing, but im pretty sure thats how it was intended, and thats how it will always be

I’ve said it before, and I will repeat it here. We are aware of the problems with the WvW achievements and will be doing more to address them in the near future. Currently it is more complicated to solve the problems than I would like, which means we need to have a fully comprehensive solution before doing anything.
