So who’s bright idea was it to offer transfers a few weeks before the tournament? You’ve basically thrown all the rank information gained during the off season out the window and because of this some of the matches are incredibly unbalanced.
If you want to keep a WvW community you need to gain some credibility, not toss it out the door.
I think it’s incredibly lazy to still have the same 3 copies of the 1 BL 18 months after launch… It’s almost like they’ve completely run out of ideas.
Ruins were a total failure and EOTM is a nonstop champ farm – they might as well have made a single-texture 500m x 500m square map.
I think the biggest problem is that anet over design their maps to the extent they end up more like the layout of a pinball game than world geography.

Can we please get the material costs reduced on silk. It’s by far the most crazy expensive ingredient now.
Reduce Silk Bolts back to 2 scraps per bolt, and reduce the Ascended Spools down to 50.
One cute feature that City of Heroes had was citizen NPCs would mention your character by name as random dialog like “Did you here that <character name> saved those hostages in the sewer?”
It added a friendly feel to the game.
RIP City of Heroes
EDIT 26 April 2014:
Unfortunately, I will not be spending my time discussing the ideas and keeping this list up to date anymore. Anyone who feels like it – you’re free to continue posting here or recreate a new thread and keep it updated. Cheers!
Here’s a list of features which would’ve let me and many other players truly “experience Guild Wars 2 as never before” ©:
1. Improved targeting system: option to display and cast AoE skills at max (“green”) distance even if cursor is out of range (particularly useful for shadowstep skills);
2. option to exclude yellow mobs from closest targets;
3. option to limit closest target to a narrow cone in front of the character (say hello to white moa at Jormag);
4. option to prioritize heaviest mobs over trash;
5. separate key to target heaviest mob (not bound by default);
6. option to always cast AoE on selected target (if it is in range);
7. option to prioritise enemies over allies when clicking to select target (Lyssa surrounded by trash and players);
8. retaining target marker on reappearing targets (Lyssa, Inquest Golem Mk II, Shatterer);
9. reworking the way in which large targets with high target point are losing focus when camera is tilted towards the grown a bit.
10. Queuing of pressed skills (so that I do not have to hold a button to get a skill cast even if I have network lags).
11. Option to turn on highly-visible cursor for aiming in zergs large-scale LS events.
12. Ability to relocate more UI elements, such as target info bar, which would allow players to see visual cues on large bosses on a 16:9 screen, as well as seeing boss buffs (retaliation/protection/condition reflection) next to their skill cooldowns.
13. Ability to relocate weapon skills.
14. Right-click on utility skill brings up skill choice pop-up (easier than aiming into a small arrow while running).
15. Option to turn the red out-of-range bar into a red/gray color tint/red cross on the skill icon.
16. Option to disable tooltips on skills (for people who use mouse to click skills).
17. Option to make buff/condition icons on target to retain their position (can be mitigated by an option to align to left/right instead of center only); an option to always display empty placeholders for boons and conditions.
18. Option to split nourishments/guild banners/bloodlust buffs/consumable timers from boons/signets/attunements, with possibility to regroup and relocate buffs from different categories.
19. Option to make buff/condition icons larger.
20. Option to turn off (or permanently collapse into tiny icons) UI elements, such as Personal Story tracker (and daily/event trackers).
21. Option to adjust camera position (higher-lower).
22. More zoom and FoV (zoom angle/perspective) options.
23. Option to hard-fix camera zoom position and make solid objects semi-transparent instead of constantly zooming in (particularly useful at jumping puzzles).
24. First-person/no character view for taking screenshots and fighting large bosses.
25. Option to change “hold right key for camera” into “click right key to toggle camera usage” (I’m running with right key pressed 90% of time).
26. Option to display player names and armour always in their respective team color instead of “blue=ally/red=enemy” in PvP and WvW. I’m totally confused every time a red enemy comes from a blue base and captures a blue point – this is a consequence of transferring from a different PvP game which always persisted team colors, and I’m sure I’m not the only one with this problem. To make it worse, /team channel is of an enemy-red colour instead of current team color.
27. Slider to adjust amount/intensity of particle effects (which make events like Risen Priestess of Dwayna look like an epileptical disco).
28. Ability to pin a bag/several items from it to be always visible – especially useful for nourishments, consumables, weapons, minis.
29. Option to display bags in 2/3 columns (displaying 18 slots in one row and 2 in another makes it too high; however 20 in a row is too wide).
30. “Compact” function compacts all items in their respective bags if bags are displayed, or compacts everything if bags are merged.
31. Fractal uncommon/rare/exotic gear boxes should work with sorting gear regardless of the order in which bags are put.
32. Invisible bags should not be filled even if placed as a top bag (because it’s where the most useful stuff is stored) unless out of space.
33. Content from invisible bags should not be displayed in Mystic Forge (dear customer support, just how many precursors do you have to manually restore each week because of this “feature”?).
34. A magical bag shared by all characters (may be a gemstore item not to conflict with bank golem).
35. Allow moving items directly from Guild Bank to Bank.
36. Allow direct stacking of items which belong to the same player in Guild Bank.

“Scarlet who? I didn’t kill anyone. You must have mistaken me for someone else.”
As do immobilize and other crowd control affects. The end.
My suggestion, no to season 3! Just as I didn’t want a season 2 either. It doesn’t add anything to the game.
1. Mitigate population discrepancies/coverage imbalance.
2. Encourage attacking the stronger/winning server not playing for second.
3. AC change: Make the AC damage scale with the number of enemies in the red circle. This would have two positive effects: 1. Mollify those that say AC’s are too powerful. 2. Act as an anti-blob mechanism that many people want.
4. New Maps/Map changes – at least put something worthwhile in the NW and NE corners of the BLs.
5. Reward/make worthwhile defending.

4. Real content for WvW. such as new core maps, or changes to the current ones.
I really appreciate the effort that went in to EotM, but it also highlight for me just how amazing the original maps are. They’re just beautiful and elegant. The simplicity allows the focus to be on the WvW and not bouncing noobs off a bridge.
This. Simplicity is far more important than gimmicks and putting features over every square inch of the land. Look at the bloodlust area and EoTM — both have turned out to be massive failures.

1. Hacking and Cheating reporting/response from anet/web team has to change and improve. It is neither effective now nor is it intuitive enough.
2. More tools and features integrating/involving guilds in WvW.
3. Some sort of workaround of the aoe limit of 5. i.e ways to counter blobs and stacking.
4. Real content for WvW. such as new core maps, or changes to the current ones.
5. Better ways to balance pop/coverage that doesn’t involve staking servers as all the Season 1 and Tournament 1 did..
To avoid ‘Stacking’ Servers as was done in seasons 1 and 2, I’d suggest lowering the Server Cap. As it stands, There are obvious differences in coverage from tier to tier. To fight this problem and to allow rebalancing of the servers, I would suggest lowering the number people allowed to be on all servers (which wont hurt the PVE Crowd with the implementation of the MEGA-Server system). This would, in turn, eliminate the strategy of stacking servers for tournaments as well as rebalance the other tiers and allowing for a more competitive tournament/WvW experience.
ANET can still implement transfer sales to lower tier NA/EU Servers prior to season 3 which will clean the Full Servers out.
Any other Ideas to help fight the “Stacking Strategy” would help as I think we are all tired of fighting against stacked servers as well as fighting in one with its enormous que times.

In the MMO world merging your servers is a sign of weakness, companies avoid it as long as they can.
With the new megaserver system though, it does seem like it would make a lot more sense converting the concept of a server into an allegiance and merging some of the lower pop allegiances. These could be much better managed to account for some servers being PvE heavy etc, also, allegiances could (lag allowing) potentially become shared between NA/EU servers, allowing a better time-zone spread, allowing one of the game modes oldest problems to fix itself (Nightcapping, which ANet do not want to fix, for very valid reasons).
To maintain identity certain town maps (eg new LA) could have allegiance as a massive weighting factor when placing a character in their instance.
Considering the massive population skew at the moment – even between long-term adjacently ranked servers – and the importance of population to the game mode, it seems silly not to.

So in an entire year? Well basically since the launch of the game, WvWvW is still just an unbalanced zergfest with the most populated server winning? Thats disappointing, maybe I’ll stick to ESO : /
However: (part 2)
WvW had so much promise, so much potential at release. I’ve enjoyed it on almost a daily basis. It has kept me in the game.
That feeling however is stretching pretty thin as some of the “little” things that could have been addressed (and haven’t) add up over a very long time.
I’m not unsympathetic for what may be happening internally. (see long post above).
However, sympathy aside, I am a paying customer (don’t ask) who has a new opportunity to invest elsewhere. Sadly. I’d like to stay here, I feel I really have no choice.
Waiting until after the April 15th patch, which will bring some changes. Not sure I can support the on-going “wait and see” attitude for the others after such a long time.

It really is sad that only spvp gets any sort of engagement from the devs when it has the lowest player involvement.
To be fair to all communities in the game, the dungeon community has it far worse.
Spirit of Faith [HOPE] – RIP
Alright, I’m a paying customer. I bought the game and I’ve bought from the gem store (with gold as well as dollars). My last dollar purchase was 800 gems for the guild finisher. So recent enough. My point is I’m not someone who hasn’t played the game for 6 months and only comes to whine. I’m active, paying, engaged.
I will use the sPvP forums as an example but this isn’t about whining or being jealous. This is about illustrating what sort of service I am expecting and not getting.
It’s easy to bring up how many dev posts there are in sPvP front page (at all times) compared to WvW forums. It’s kittening shameful.
More specific example. This Friday a blog post was revealed for a sPvP feature. People had concerns and how fast were their concerns answered even before that blog post happened? There were even posts before even the blog post letting people know whether it will address their concerns.
“I’ll put down the rumors right now: This is not Gw1 Templates.
Watch this Friday’s Ready Up to learn more!"
(https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/PVP-build-button-noticed/first#post3809737)
As soon as the blog post was up, a dev started a post to talk about it in the sPvP forum (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/PvP-Rewards-Blog)
That’s engagement and that’s service.
What’s it like on the WvW forums? No talk about what’s happenin with WXP account bound since February. No follow up discussion or whatever.
Instead people on the WvW forums are digging up threads from a thousand years ago (6+ months) about WXP account bound and other things (commander functionality!) because that’s all the dev talk there is.
It’s gotten really pathetic and sad here.
Look at this thread https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/Commander-Abilities/first! It’s 7 months old, wasn’t even 2 pages, but still got dug up and started a conversation about commander tags because Devon posted in it. That’s the state of engagement we have.
I get different people have different personalities. If Devon Carter isn’t big on posting, that’s fine, that’s not a fault.
What is a fault is that you haven’t gone and hired someone to start posting in here instead. Hire someone already!
I know it’s not super exciting sayin “We’re workin on that but can’t reveal anything” or “We’re not working on that but we can consider it” but it beats this mess.
Besides, there are things to talk about. We had a whole huge thread about transfer fees and population balance. Where’s the follow up on that? Did this create different trajectories of transfer before or after? What are commander tags doin? Are more WXP abilities coming? Do you think people get through gates too fast? Are you looking at lifting the AoE cap or is it still off the books (just keep telling us the state of these things, the game is ongoing and new people want to know!).
/vent
I figured I’d put this up here so that other people can vent too, haha. Hope it doesn’t get deleted! If I can’t communicate to a company through their forums, I dunno what!
This is how the WvW forum cycle goes:
1) WvW forums are neglected by ANET.
2/3) Players get frustrated at the company focusing on the gem store and PvE.
2/3) Players make hundreds of threads about how to improve WvW, all are ignored.
4) Months later, ANET sends a person over to talk to the people, not do anything, just talk.
5) The players, who have been ignored and frustrated for months, tear into the new staff member on the block.
6) Staff member doesn’t have thick enough skin to repair the damage caused by ANET.
7) Staff member never posts on the forums again.
8) Repeat.
And nothing gets done or improved in WvW, and it will be like this for the games entire existence. Live with WvW being in this sorry state forever, or move on.
Also:
The company has no pvp/wvw balancing teams
The company has no wvw team, and only a very small pvp team.
97.1337% of the companies staff work on pve.
PvP modes are the “endgame” in every MMO.
Stop failing at PvE, start fixing PvP/WvW. Thank you.

I defend for hours and hours everyday and i get some rewards but not enough. A good offense is backed by its defenders and defense teams and havocs tapping stuff when they need too. This is a great discussion and I agree more rewards are needed for the backliners..
Server : Dragonbrand
WvW achievements are ANets sick way of saying “Go finish your personal story and do more PvE, you scrub.”
The devs don’t care about WvW so I’m gonna kill players in PvE!
We have shouted at them, ANet does not respond to it. There have also been several calculations on how long it would take to earn said achievements. They are aware, they either don’t care to respond, think it is valid, or are secretly working on it. I’ve accepted the fact that broken things in WvW will not be fixed unless they are critical. Would you like to join me and cry about how neglected WvW is?
Good luck on getting Yak Slapper. I’ll be back in six years to check on your progress.
The devs don’t care about WvW so I’m gonna kill players in PvE!
With the current systems in place and even ANet admitting that wvwvw is not fair should we look at a better mass PVP playstyle? Not to mention a severe lack of server loyalty anyway, players would prefer to play with friends first anyway…
1) Use an EotM server grouping (colors) and timed battle system – more urgency, less worry about coverage
2) Assign players to color groupings based on population numbers already fighting – so players are distributed to the color with the lowest numbers – if players are in a group or in the same guild the group or guild is assigned together to the color requiring more numbers – a lot less worry about coverage
3) No weekly scoring system, rather put in Guild rewards and/or individual rewards – currency that can get you special armor/weapon/titles/minipets/Black Lion TP tickets/whatever
There would be less server vs server drama I suppose, but really is it something we need? This may also promote better guild play as currently many many players still play as individuals even being part of a large population guild…it may also foster a better GW2 gaming community? Who knows…
Better ideas, scathing remarks and opinions awaited…

I support bannering npcs! It’s fun and tactical. The slot you put the rez in is a tactical choice that involves a sacrifice. For my warrior it means no Snow Leopard escape option, which significantly increases my mortality risk in the field, but maybe I’ll get a key rez off in exchange.
Most fun in WvW are the long keep fights,you guys got 21min of PvP thx to warrior banners….
Want to get keeps without hard fights just go pve zone EoTM
I don’t want this changed – most of the epic fights I’ve had were hour long sustained fights defending/taking keeps.
This!
