Madness Rises [Rise] – Banners Hold.
Don’t argue with idiots, they pull you down their level and own you with experience.
We already came to the conclusion golems were OP without masteries
So now they added masteries, they do listen to us and just do the opposite of what we think.
Proposal Overview: Give guilds options to make horizontal as well as vertical ranks.
Goal of Proposal: Right now guilds can only have vertical “I am either above you in rank or below you in rank” setups. Where guilds do different things, you might want certain people only in charge of certain other people. This is a problem.
Proposal Functionality: By allowing horizontal tiers of ranks as well, people can be placed in charge of only the relevant players they should be handling.
Associated Risks: The system could allow small guilds to merge while retaining their own separate identities, for example, with the absorbed guild leader remaining in direct charge of their old guild, but all nested in a larger guild. I guess this could be… bad?
This diagram might help explain. The lines show where a higher tier can actually modify or control a lower tier.
The problem is that I think most people care about whether they win matches or not, not whether their server ranking goes up or down. They need a handicap system that allows a server punching above it’s weight to win the weekly match-up, not come in third but improve their rank.
The problem is that players don’t want to face 2x or more their numbers every night. Good fights = Good scores.
As I have said before the score IS NOT THE PROBLEM. It is a symptom of the problem. Trying to “fix” the scoring is like putting a bandaid on a gushing wound.
My thoughts on this feature pack?
Too little. Too late.
Even now, after years of waiting for real change we have received little more than smoke and mirrors. I have watched my server widdle away into near nothingness, and it is not entirely due to transfers. Server transfers only make up a fraction of those that have left FC. The real issue is negligence from a company of developers that do not seem to care, and this(at least for the time-being) has pushed many of them away from this game.
What attention do they offer those that choose to inhabit their “end-game content” on a day to day basis? I feel like a response would go something like this:
“Here, have a pink commander tag and siege disabling grenades. To further this rofl stomping of the WvW community, we’ll even make the most OP raid tactic even more so overpowered. Enjoy your feature pack.
-Love Anet"
I think it is a terrible idea to buff golems even more… what they should’ve done was nerf omega golems and then undo the nerfs with the golem mastery tract. So a full mastery will allow you to play golems as they are played now… without the mastery you have to suffer some nerfs. Omegas are already over buffed and to introduce a ‘trap’-like counter to golem rushes that costs people to purchase and can just as easily disable your siege is tipping the balance of the game in favour of the attacker and making it pointless to upgrade and defend places – aka welcome eotm to wvw.
I think it has been poorly thought out. I also think the rumoured skill changes have not been considered properly either. It leaves the impression that the people making these choices are not really qualified to make them.
No longer will that stray warrior banner a lord and deny my WXP and karma and no longer will my enemies boast about that 2 hour garri fight with 15 banners and 200 loot bags because those fights were the worst, I mean seriously, who the hell wants to fight other players, im just there for your karma, let the EoTM people have thier PPT.
My jaw dropped when I read this. I’m with sephiroth, some of the best fights i’ve ever gotten in wvw only waged on because of lord bannering. IMO the fights are the fun part, not getting the xp/etc, I could easily get that from pve :/
No more Wars/Necros/Ele Lord rezzes? Hey now you can just blob rush structures, cap it and be done with it. Who cares about protracted fights and all that boring stuff.
ArenaNet doesn’t see the whole picture with Guardian because they don’t play the profession. They see an AoE 4 sec chill and slap a long cooldown on it because why not? But they don’t realize that the -66% is largely useless because it often will proc on stuff like the immobilize or when your target is ringed. I think it’s a great example of the pure amount of WTF that goes on with ArenaNet skill & balance team.
The way I see it, there’s going to be a lot of fotm players playing med guard to see how it goes. After playing for a bit they realize med guard isn’t as great and easy to play as people make it out to be. Sure it counters some professions and builds very well, but it also has a lot of hard counters too. So they go back to playing whatever easy fotm faceroll builds they where playing before.
Seriously, fix this.
We’ve been grossly outnumbered for months, it’s not fun playing when you have 3 people and you get portal-bombed by a zerg of 30 when you’re retaking your borderlands.
Deleting these posts and giving infractions for them is just rude. Take a look at these matchups for yourselves, hell, come over to our server and actually experience the crap we’re putting up with.

I’m too lazy to read through 28 pages of posts but did any body here at one point ask for an unlimited rare salvage kit that cost 30% more to use than a regular rare salvage kit? Any body? no?
If there was a clearly better alternative, most players would have left by now. ANet’s failure to expand the game in some meaningful way has let down a lot of ANet belivers. This point in GW1’s development we had several new classes, skills and weapons added to the game. We have exactly zip on that front in GW2.
This is just gonna be a 5 minute section at the end of the show guys. Josh will make it about PvP and the Classes more then WvW somehow.
JoshGotta hand it to server X who have come up from the bottom of bronze tier and showing the other veteran silver tier servers how to fight
Yes because yet again this wont be due to mass transfer of guilds to other servers, nor the tanking some servers may do again.
Please can we have someone who actually knows what they are talking about and knows the real issues in this mode?! Not someone who’s on blobgate!
P.S. Permanantly banned from posting on your twitch channel for asking about GvG. Thank you for letting us know you care.
I’ve already tried to compose this five different ways to remove any hint of combativeness. This is the best I can hope to do:
I (and I think most people here), understand why the current gunshy communication policy exists. We know you tried to be open and cordial with your game plans, and a handful of entitled little kittens decided your statements of intent were actually promises, and were hellbent on making the following year absolute hell on anyone trying to engage in discourse.
The problem, and I continue to believe this, is that your company responded in the worst possible way. You gave EVERYONE the silent treatment because of the trolls. Your company let the Ranger CDI thread (for example) go for roughly 30 pages because of the echo chamber. Same with the WvW thread. Mesmer bug threads go on for months without a peep.
We CAN understand if you don’t have an answer. You CAN let us know this. IGNORE the trolls that can’t.
Going silent is the worst possible thing to do. You folks can control the discourse if you want to. If you are willing to invest in this community, and not let yourself get run off by the perennially kitten, the community WILL respond.
But it’s going to take a lot of time now. The pool is very, very acidic, and a lot of the people who would have normally given you the benefit of the doubt have been poisoned by the legitimacy you gave the trolls when you walked away from the table.
Simply put… this CAN’T be your last word on the matter if you HONESTLY want the forums to represent the respectful environment the policies here claim you want.
Nice to see a red post, especially from you Mike, been wondering where have you been, hopefully Colin is doing good too.
That being said, actions speak louder than words.
9 Months of gathering feedback on WvW CDI threads and nothing ever came of it, except for a tag, which I doubt took months to implement.

Before we get too mushy here, folks, lets be clear about what Mike just said. He basically just reiterated what thier policy on communicating with their customer base. If that’s all you need, then good for you. But what I really want is a broad understanding of their current and long term goals.
Lack of communication only leaves for speculation. Speculation mostly leads to built up hopes, which cannot be achieved.
Everyone loses with their current policy. The only reason they have it is to have something to fall back on and avoid blame if they can’t meet their goals, which to me, is a cowardly way to run a company.
It certainly isn’t innovative
That didn’t really tell us anything we didn’t know already.
Has anyone ever given you an award for good communication, ie, giving straight answers or, if you don’t have a straight answer, admitting it and explaining why?
No
and while I’m here answering questions often, tact clearly isn’t my strongest skillset, so I’ll need to continue developing that before any awards are in order.
Well it’s about time we fixed that.
Bear in mind the dev team has next to zero input from anyone remotely connected to wvw. This is purely a pve move, as there are a ton of ‘commanders’ in pve and giving the rich pve’rs somehing else to spend their money on is what this is all about.
The fact that pure wvw players have little to no money but at the same time actually need different tags in order to make wvw better never entered the equation.
For those still struggling to see the problem here:
Given that it took Anet, how many months?, to change the color of the commander tags. And when they did they’re charging us an arm and a leg for it.
No there won’t be a change to the scoring system. Or the matchup system. Or anything else major.
Of all the MMO games I have played GW armor is ugly. No cool looking armor just to be cool looking. I do not know who designs the armor but why no cool swashbuckler style armor for light armor.. why is it all so ugly. I play a Female Ranger and armor is ugly no female style at all in the armor.. same with the male armor. I ultimately hate the looks of almost all the armor in GW.
The WvW team is actually one guy who usually works on the gem store, but occasionally during his free time he messes around with adding stuff to WvW.
1 year of development, a single siege mastery, 3 woooah colours for the commander tag and a 1200 range grenade that disables siege in a 450 radius. Haha.
Whoever thought it was a good idea to disable siege and buff golems does not play wvw
@Rimmy.9217
Sadly, I can only +1 once.
I really was not going to post this because 99.9999% of the people reading this won’t give a kitten. But I do want to thank anet for ultimately killing the Guild Wars franchise for myself and 100’s of others who enjoy WvW. There is only so much someone can take in terms of no updates and no hope. I have patiently waited for a glimmer of hope in terms of a WvW update but im done waiting. With Archeage and camelot around the bend you will be losing the RvR players. Though I guess thats what you want since you never meant for WvW too be so popular and you can finally have some peace and quite when it comes to people complaining.
It is absolutely baffling that there has been nothing done for official GvG’s yet. The game is technically called Guild Wars 2 even the first game had decent GvG abilities. There is also no excuse to have multiple devs saying different things. Devon told us over a year ago that it takes around 6 months to design and test a new WvW map, only to have a dev recently say it takes a lot longer. Does it really only take 6 months or does it take 6 months and a we don’t really care anymore so it takes longer now kind of mentality.
Honestly some of the biggest guilds that promoted the game, promoted WvW, got those new players into WvW and GvG’s and got them hooked are down right leaving the game. I have quit uninstalled the game and will not play a game where the game mode I enjoy to play is neglected so much. I loved the time I played I loved my 100s of hours as a commander and my 1000s in WvW alone but what I don’t love is the disrespect as a player.
WvW is dying and there is nothing anyone can say to tell me it is not. Yea people still go in it but you can tell, the commanders that have been around for so long have no enthusiasm no heart for it they are just playing because there is nothing else to play.
So thank you anet for making one of the best game modes that I have played in years of gaming, but also thank you for destroying that game mode.
What stuns me is that even with all these balance talks, I have yet to see the developers come out and admit to some of the basic problems in the game’s balance that so many of the players have pointed out.
I keep hearing the developers talk about the strengths and weaknesses of a particularly class. Like for example how a warrior’s weakness is lack of boon removal, which is a necromancer’s strength. But then not one developer brings up the problem that some mechanics such as boon removal are not really important in areas such as PVE. Another “strength” of the necromancer in massive air quotes is control. Again, a mechanic rendered completely useless in PVE because almost every single boss in the game has Defiant/Unshakeable.
My point is, how can you discuss balance when the core mechanics that each class revolves around, aren’t equally represented in the game? Especially in PVE, reflect, party wide boons, stability, and cleave are extremely valuable. But they are mechanics that are unequally distributed among the classes, and even represented all at once on the guardian, and not at all on the necromancer (well we have just really poor access to stability, and none of the others). So, I think it’s safe to say that at least as far as PVE is concerned, that’s a pretty big balance problem.
So are any of the developers ever going to specifically address this issue? Or are we all just going to pretend it doesn’t exist?
This is a result of the Glicko rating and matchmaking system.
It adjusts almost too slowly to population changes like the SoR implosion and HoD bandwagon.
