Just to confirm, we are working on new maps. I can’t give too many details, but a few things:

1) We’re trying maps with no cap points.
2) We’re trying mechanics that focus on high risk/reward mechanics that can win to sudden wins/sudden losses.
3) We’re trying maps that focus on “big play” moments that permanently impact the map flow/map status.
4) I can’t give an ETA on when you’d see one live, because we’re trying different maps, and each of them takes time to prototype, etc.

I think that conquest is easy for new players to get into, and it’s allowed for some amazing high-level games so far! But we’d like to try some new things that get away from conquest.

Also, as many of us have said, we want to give players enough variety such that they can change what they play from time to time, while also being sure that we don’t fracture the player-base by spreading players out to too many different game types.

I know this isn’t a super exhaustive answer, but just wanted to give you guys a quick update.

The stealth trap is used very very infrequently to stop a Thief (and when it is, it is used most often by people who don’t understand their mechanics). Most often it is used to prevent a zerg from easily stealthing a Mesmer (or entire zerg) into an open objective.

Who hasn’t wanted to take their aggression out on zommoros, so why not have a dungeon where he is the end boss. You jump into the mystic forge to take back everything he’s taken from you. Once in there is treasure and gold piled up in the background. The trash mobs could be ghosts called lost hope and broken dreams. The mini bosses could be a giant glob of ectoplasm ooze, a mystic clover leprechaun, and an obsidian shard golem. At the end you face zommoros and get to punch him in the mouth. I think it would be very enjoyable.

Some suggestions to the claimed points system:

Reward Guilds for Holding Points – As of right now a guild has to spend their possibly hard earned influence on upgrading the point they control and there is not reward in return (other than the buff itself). Maybe it would be nice if any even that took place at that point earned influence for the guild holding it. Maybe if that is too much influence then just automatically increase the influence guild members earn around their controlled tower.

Customize the Point – It would be cool to have a bit more customization to the points other than just the banners on display. Possible something simple like a few wall styles to chose between or what the supply areas look like at the point. Something that players will start to recognize and associate with specific guilds (allies and enemies).

Show on Map – Might be nice to show on the world map which points are under control by guilds and what guild has it. Something simple like the icon displays a small star on it. Also if you mouse over a point that is currently controlled it would display the buffs it is currently offering.

Guild Benefiting Upgrades – When a guild holds onto a specific point for and extended period of time they should get something out of it because it isn’t easy to hold things for an extended period of time. Maybe something simple like all items purchased from the merchants(like siege ones that you get from upgrading) give 10% of the cost to the guild bank. In points that don’t allow upgrading merchants add some sort of merchant upgrade.

What are other peoples though on how to make the point claiming system a bit more exciting and rewarding to use. As far as I can tell right now the only point you see it used on much in the occasional supply point for +5 supply and on the castle.

More than anything I want the shield to become viable. The classic look of a sword and shield as well as the shield being the “symbol” of the Guardian just make me drawn to that class. I really hope it gets some adjustments.

So, just spent 1 hour 20 minutes inside Garrison on enemy homelands “trying” to take it, we pretty much controlled the entire capture room (pretty much most of the inner was ours) throughout the entire thing, the only time there was a bunch of them was when they used the broken waypoint system that the game seems to re-open for that 1 second window when it resets the timer back to 3 minutes contested again…or when a guild managed to pull its members together to re-enter and die again.

Devon carver just says “kill the warriors”, ok so lets kill the invulnerable warriors with stability that banner res the lord from all different directions making it physically impossible to stop them, we tried all sorts of tactics to “prevent” it from happening, such as having 1 guild camp the lord and attack anything that got near and the rest in the capture point or kill the lord at a corner and defend etc etc, nothing works, you can’t kill something that’s totally immune to damage and CC that just banners the lord over and over again…especially when they’re all scattered around the room readying to banner, coming from all different entrances and portals, when is Anet going to see logic here that it’s a broken feature to banner res the lord over and over again with no diminishing returns on the res?

Want to know what actually made this more laughable? the fact that we actually saw the enemy bringing up-leveled warriors just to banner res…yeah, they leveled their warriors up just enough to get endure pain, their stability and banner res when kitten hits the fan, screw tactics, defense, siege and teamwork, just banner res while immune till the attackers give up!

A More Visual Mouse Pointer During Battle

During large fights I find my mouse comepletely disapears in the graphics and when a lot of your skills rely on knowing where your mouse is, or if you want to use the fast casting option NOT knowing where your mouse is can (and does usually) end up proving fatal.

I’ve noticed it turns red in a fight but the pointer vanishes completely when you hold right-click to circle-strafe, so you are always having to hunt for it when you release right-click – I am proposing a crosshairs style or an option to change your mouse pointer in combat to make it easier to pick out on screen during battle and an option to keep your mouse visible when using the right-click.

I’m not lost, I know exactly where I am…I just didn’t want to be here right now.

Perplexity runes aren’t avaible in spvp.

Thus, balance team doesn’t give a flying puppy.

I’m still surprised that this hasn’t been fixed. These runes are a crutch for many engineers and I hope they fix it soon.

It’s absurd how much confusion can be put out constantly. Even dueling them on my warrior using dolyak signet, stamina signet, zerker stance, cleansing ire, melandru runes and food is not enough.

I LAUGH when people say “bring condition removals” but the problem is you need stability. If I pick all stability, guess what? I can’t deal with the condition engi’s other conditions.

I will use a real example to illustrate the point of this topic, I’m not sure if anyone else has already brought this up. So today, I was keeping scouting the movement of an enemy guild approximately of twenty people, they skipped the sentry point towards godslore, and quickly captured the camp, as I continued to scout them i guessed that their next target would be the northern gate of ascension bay, the one towards the veteran worm. I quickly waypointed and checked that gate to find that they were no where in sight.

I also they have not even killed the veteran worm, therefore I guessed their target must have been our fully fortified walls/reinforced doors woodhaven tower. I waypointed to citadel and then I noticed the gate was below 50percent dropping fast with the use of 2 or 3 superior rams, without the players dpsing the gate.

At this point, the tower did not even show it was contested, I did relay the information on team/map chat instantaneously and we had responded right away. The problem was at this point the gate was already down by the time the tower even showed it was contested. The numbers we had at the time was not enough to hold them at the lords room. This paragraph is quite lengthy, but all this occurred within 30s before the tower even contested.

To make clear my point, the reinforced gate was already down before players were even alert that the tower was contested. Keep in mind that when I scouted them the reinforced gate was below 50percent and players online at the time had responded right away. The little time it took me to observe the situation (confirming the numbers, whats seige is being used, what defenses wehad in the tower, how much supply we have in the tower) —-takes like 10seconds tops and relay it to my teammates was all the time it took for the enemy player to destroy the gate.

To me this is definitely an issue, it really is hard to see the point in even upgrading structures knowing that they can be taken so easily. The gates are pretty much equivalent to being paper and not upgraded at all, considering that 2 or 3 superiors is enough to take down the gate before players are even aware. It takes away what I find to be a very rewarding aspect of world vs world (being able to defend while outnumbered, having enough time to respond to enemy attacks).

As it is currently, world vs world just does not seem very rewarding, it can potentially take an hour to upgrade fully upgrade structures only to lose it before you are aware it even happened seems a bit ridiculous to me. There are several ways to resolve this: changing the third ability of ram mastery, changing the ability of seige masteries that increase damage, increasing the effectiveness of reinforced doors or introducing fortified doors are examples. I posted this cause I wanted to see the opinions that other people had and if they have faced similar situations.

In all honesty, I’m pretty much losing interest in playing world vs world for the ppt(points per tick) or even for the competition to win,I mean it is one thing for a structure that is paper/unupgraded but once you spend an hour getting the upgrades then lose it in such a quick timeframe (before you have the ability to even react) it kind of takes away the point.

Oh guys don’t be so naive.. stealth IS a problem in this game and it IS unbalanced.

Actually I’ve suggested that Shadow Refuge shouldn’t stack stealth and stealth in general shouldn’t stack higher than 3s (4s with trait), why do we need perma stealth?

Why do we need a tool to kitten out of a fight? 3s hidden, 3s revealed seems to be a perfect and fair balance to me. During combat this wouldn’t change ANYTHING, it just wouldn’t allow you to get a free out of jail card EVERY fight whenever you want.

It doesn’t matter though, as long as Perma Stealth is there I’ll keep abusing it and soloing keeps and towers all day long. Last matchup I’ve solo’d 10 keeps and atleast 50 towers. Since reset I’ve already solo’d two keeps.

Know what anet could’ve done long ago? Updated the tooltip, tah-dah. Cleansing spam is the best thing guardians have against heavy conditions, since we can’t spam anything but blinds and burns to “fit the meta”, you take that away and it is a nerf, and one that we didn’t need. I’ll just watch what happens after Oct 15, but there is no way to be sure that this is an acceptable change.
