This is a part of the larger problem: thieves in general.

They require a lot of attention from Mr Peters and co.

Thieves are fine.

If by “fine” you mean “overpowered”, I agree.

Thieves are a trash class that was overspecialized into doing one thing in the most game breaking and simple manner possible: press 2 a lot and have near permanent access to invisibility…!#$%ing infantile…

The class is otherwise totally worthless in WvW. You run in a zerg with a glass cannon thief and what happens is you go down, you die, and then half the enemy zerg rally’s off your stupid little thief !#$, and they proceed to straight up curb stomp your allies.

The Thief represents a total failure in core class design by being neither challenging to play, nor encouraging of build versatility, nor presenting options to fill other roles in a party, and makes itself infamous for the only thing it can do well: being a no-skill-required pain in the #$% amounting to little more than a bunch of petty trolls.

The entire class needs a MAJOR overhaul, primarily in changing the whole no-skill-required stealth and spam-2-till-it-dies mechanics of the class.

That’s all Anet knows how to kittening do. It’s so pathetic. They are TERRIBLE at encounter design. Have been since launch. The encounters in this update are par for the course as well.

I hate this gauntlet as much as anybody else but let’s be fair. There have been some better bosses like the F&F ones. Fun, challenging and rewarding. That’s the way a boss fight should be done.

When I finished Liadri what I felt wasn’t satisfaction over having completed an awesome fight. It was satisfaction knowing I’d never have to do it again. To me this is the telltale sign of a poorly designed fight.

Am I the only one thinking that the naming system is stupid? You go all the way from ‘Invader’ thru ‘Colonel’ and ‘General’ and right to ‘Legend’, then… you become an ‘Invader’ again (albeit a ‘bronze’ one). Greeaaat. That sounds all-powerful, not. I can’t wait to work my way up to the coolest title ever only to go back to the lowest.

I posted this in suggestions, but never hurts to share an idea:

The Bronze, Silver, Gold system waters down the “Legend” concept in the game. It is far too easy to become a “Legend” currently and after a player gets it they get demoted in a sense a bit later to Bronze Infantry. Doesn’t work very well in my opinion.

Below is a suggested starting point. I think the community could modify it and create a fantastic list:

I don’t think things wil stay this way forever. Prices are down because people hoarding siege and badges are cashing in. Eventually the siege will get used up, demand should go up and supply will go down, so the prices will go back up. Economics, doods.

Three of our biggest guilds just announced that they are leaving the Ring of Fire. The crap matchups lately aren’t the only reason they are leaving but you can be assured it’s a big part of it.

We’re not only losing our biggest and most active WvW guilds, we’re losing some of the best commanders on the server, and our community Team Speak server.

So go ahead, put us back in the trash can tier tomorrow. You might as well.

Organised guild, organised guild hand holding, organised blob.

Don’t use tier/population as a excuse that makes it even worse to encourage that german points playstyle because sure ain’t for the fights. Gunners you are like a hit and miss server, you have a lot of fight but sometimes too dead or too much handholding like SFR… that’s where disappointment comes from… Don’t want another server to be too boring like abba/RS that you don’t look forward to being paired with on reset. You have potential though.

If only SOE was a bit bigger, you guys have consistently brought the fights with and without others (when you are smaller than us I expect you to come with more)

Mya we’ve had really bad luck this week facing each other… but atleast I got Dantes back last night :P

It’s not like we call out in map chat asking for people to come help us kill TUP. People are attracted to the orange swords and if you stay in the same area for too long you’re going to get swarmed. You guys do it too, yesterday we had a really awesome 10min fight with QQ in the NE camp, seconds after we’d won 30+ TUP came in from the north, and 30+ MS militia came in from the south (obviously having been attracted by the swords).

I don’t think you quite understand that we only have 1 guild able to meet you with equal numbers, others like SOE just get trampled unless we chose our moments very carefully and hit you when you’re distracted. We simply cant meet you on an equal footing when you guys raid with so many. Sure at times we have a go just for fun but i can’t justify spending a whole night delivering lootbags to you.

FIRE are more our number and i do try to find them whenever i can but unfortunately i think we’ve only shared a BL once in this matchup.

Anet, Can you please either release all of the abilities at once, or at the very least allow us the ability to reset them, the way we can traits. Trickling them in 1-2 at a time like this is horribly inefficient, especially when your still making changes to them.

If you don’t think d/p thieves are overpowered in the roaming game, you don’t have any business telling people what is or isn’t overpowered.

Perhaps you should enlighten the unenlightened. Are you referring to stealth?.. if so maybe explain how that is overpowered for roamers.

I’ll give my view on why I think stealth is over powered

Stealth means the player always gets to choose the fight, the optimum time, and has the most advantage at the start…. always. Stealth means the player can always open with the optimal damage and with some of the insane dps can often win the fight in first 2-3 seconds. Stealth means if something does go wrong they simply stealth away, no consequence unlike every other class. Stealth causes the opposing player to loose target and have to reaquire which is a huge advantage (not just thieves in this case).
Being able to stealth off not just your opponent, but mobs, doors, walls etc. is beyond stupid OP
Now combine the ridiculous advantage that stealth gives, combined with the multitude of other abilities thieves have, and stealth in this game is so poorly designed, it is really beyond words
But lets face it. No class will ever admit to being OP, and there is no way for ANet to make a real change without rebuilding the class, so we are stuck with it

Unless you are squishy (or not running solo), you have a snowball’s chance in hell of bursting me down before I stealth again and run away if things go wrong.

Sure it is really easy to disengage a fight as a thief and run away. Not OP, working as intended and perfectly balanced.

Yeah sure, okay. I guess we all play Thieves to roam then.

Don’t blame Anet, blame the players. There was a system balancing servers before, doing its job, and the players called it ‘stale’ and ‘boring’.

Face it, players don’t want balance, they want to roflstomp every other week. This is precisely what this new system achieves.

It is Anet’s fault for listening to forum whiners. If I never checked the official forums, I would never have known that there was a vocal group of people who dedicate their time to whining about “stale matchups” or having their glass cannon build destroyed by a glass cannon of a different class.

btw, did either MS or GH see the golem army I organised the making of? AG used the golems to get into SM. Truly a tale to be told through the ages, maybe by minstrels siniging.
"Oh hereee, oh heree, what the heck, these golems cost 23 g?,
oh how much we have missed, zerging the MS controlled Stonemist,
the golems rely on skill and not on luck, while Millers are standing there wondering “WTF?”
MS are thinking that AG just got motorrolled, when all of a sudden, GUNNER’S HOLD.
The golem losses made some weep, while an MS guy contested our keep.
The MS defenders really should have been paid, for defending against GH and Aurora Glade!
MS reinforcements arrived non-stop, it’s like they were being bought, in a shop.
so arived sir Shino to the gate of the overlook, he hit the gate, with a left hook.
Oh how their victory rang throught out the ages, this song is probably going on for several pages.
oh the MS, how they were Solomn, as they killed every last golem
I can’t believe we would even dare, attack a place on a prayer
but once we took it, we were like “Hell yeah”
about 2 minutes, it took, for MS to start trebbing SM from overlook.

Should be interesting. Although a bad match up for us (GH) considering the numbers on both AG and Millers, still never stopped us having a go before!

I didn´t say they were bad players. They were good, but it´s a difference to be good and to be not to be killed.

But i guess it´s just natural for thiefs to defend their stealth mechanic. Something so strong isn´t given away lightly

As i wrote. They were 2 of them.
We didn´t have enough ppl in the jp. But 5 ppl couldn´t kill them. They just perma stealth all the time.
I was killed 2 times when they both focused me.
One alone i have no problem with. I can´t kill him he can´t kill me. But 5 vs a thief an he don´t die because of perma stealth…. come on…. don´t give me a l2p…. it´s just a broken mechanic

Hello,

i normally don´t write on the forums, but now i just have too. Two Thiefs ganked about 20 ppl in the EB JP. Nobody could kill them. Perma stealth and insane damage. Both were s/p.

Can we pls see a fix for that? I really don´t mind if i get ganked once in a while, but this is going on for 2 hours now. They just won´t stop.

I managed to survive about 3 min alone against them but in the end i just couldn´t handle the damage.

easy – you make lots of posts complaining about them being op, and then anet buffs them a bunch of patches in a row, and then i’m not sure what happens after that
