I believe Ascended gear should be removed from PvP. It creates the typical “Grind to Win” scenario that is so common in other MMO/Games.

I feel that Arena Net created an amazing PvP game with Guild Wars 1 and they should stick to how things were run. I also predict a very certain power creep for Melee classes like Warriors/Thiefs who benefit so much from weapon power as opposed to classes like Mesmers/Necromancers, this will create a distinct imbalance between these classes that will be compensated by 1) Nerfing the Warrior/Thief/Guardian/Ranger and effectively screwing players who don’t have Ascended armor on these characters; OR 2) Not nerfing them and creating a huge gap in power between “Physical DPS” classes and “Magic” users.

WvWvW players like to PvP, but any PvP’er will do everything in their power to achieve an advantage over the enemy, the important thing for most PvP players is winning (yes they have fun too but winning is the most important), pretty soon we will have fully ascended players in WvWvW which will make it unplayable for people who don’t have hundreds of hours to dedicate to a single character in order to equip them with full ascended armor, I believe the weapons cost 200g each, the trinkets/accessories using Laurels would take almost a year to get and the back piece is not even available, and that’s assuming you do your daily every single day. Fractals should not be required to play PvP competitively.

WvWvW players already have to spend ~50+g on Runes + exotics to remain competitive, I believe that’s enough as you should naturally accumulate that gold levelling your character and doing a few dungeons along the way, a lot of people will say ascended armour makes no difference but if we assume both zergs are of equal skill, the zerg that is fully ascended will always beat the non ascended zerg that has 5-10% less stats, it’s the same thing as putting a level 80 zerg vs a upleveled zerg, which zerg do you think will win? And don’t get me started on roaming/sniping groups fully ascended vs non ascended people, in the law of averages, we have to assume everyone is at the same skill level so the person who is better geared will win. Could a pro player beat a fully ascended “newb”? Of course, but pro players a very rare and they don’t make up the average WvWvW in our realm. Heck, my realm is full of PvE players (Desolation) so if anything Ascended gear is awesome as the sheer power of these people will carry me but I still believe these items should not be implemented in this game mode.

Solution: It’s simple, just scale Ascended gear to Exotic stat level upon entering a Borderland. I believe fair play should be encouraged and “grind to win/pay to win” (crafting) should not be encourage or allowed in PvP, this is not World of Warcraft and I believe the fair play/balanced gear model from Guild Wars 1 was perfect and it should be encouraged not scrapped. If I wanted to go “3 Shot noobs with overpowered gear” I’d go back to WoW and grind RBGs to 2200.

If you have queue window pop, you can teleport with it even in combat. But i don’t see any exploit in that.

There are multiple factors that contribute to this.

a) small maps meaning the winner gets all. If your zerg is bigger and you have more success, you get to own the entire map. There’s no scaling of the challenge, If the enemy zerg cant stop you that won’t change not matter of you’re going for a tower or a Garrison.

b) there is no downside to holding all of the territory. Romans were spread thin throughout Europe when they conquered the world. That made the vulnerable since their resources were stretched thin. This is not the case in GW2 where a single zerg can control an entire Borderland.

c) no point in fighting if you can’t win. I don’t fault people for quitting if there’s nothing for them to gain from staying. So if you face an overpowering opponent, you stop trying.

d) The scoring system is terrible. Even a minor disadvantage at a certain hour translates into a huge scoring gap. There is no incentive to fight harder, no mechanism that enables you to “catch up”.

Greatly reduced PPT for taking/holding unconstested stuctures … only get the BIG PPT points when it’s contested. ….entire “Defense isn’t rewarded” & early morning ninjas problem solved. <—— Get on it Anet. There’s no reason for 6 more weeks of this. This doesn’t have to be Groundhog Day

Anet seriously should have seen this coming … that the design they set up would only discourage 2 out of 3 servers as the week dragged on and coverage differences ate away at all the competitiveness. (which then lead to transfer stacking)

Why it’s a joke? I played on Blacktide server and because of boring WvW I transfered my account to Vabbi (free transfer). Now I understand why Vabbi is last everywhere. We fight very good and bravely even if we’re outnumbered (lol, we’re better than Blacktide!) So why we’re last? Because of lack of people. Everyone zerg us: RoS, FoW, Dzagonur, Blacktide. We’re outnumbered again, again, again and again. You sold this game not only because of “epic” story and “dynamic” events but also because of WvW. And what? Instead of make some boost for small servers, like Vabbi, you’re making new map for queue.

Someone from ANet should transfer his account to Vabbi and play WvW for awhile.

So, ANet, what are you going to do with this?
1) Say: “Nothing is off the table.”
2) Say: “We don’t see anything wrong here.”
3) Say: “[after one year] We’re still working on that problem. You’ll see exciting changes before next year.”
4) Merge servers.

I would like to see a list of stats each week about each server. Actually the only stat I am really interested in right now is:

Total Number of All Players Hours Played That Week per each server, WvW Maps only.

For example maybe my server EBay had a total of 10,000 total hours played in one week adding up all the hours people were logged into the WvW maps.

I wonder if that information exists and can be found online?

It’s a PvP game mode, (in spite of what a net says) therefore it should have at least some sort of balance in place. As it stands right now having the same 7-9 stacked servers being the only competitive ones is a problem, in spite of any apologists arguments.

4/5 of all the matches aren’t even a competition.

Where’s the challenge?

A summary of this week in EU (based on scores):
Gold:
SFR – ER – Kodash (SFR has 5 to 3) FAIL
RS – AR – Piken (AR 3 to 4)
Baruch – Viz – JS (Viz has 5 to 3) FAIL

Silver:
AM – GH – UW (worst match-up: 6 to 3 / 6 to 2 for AM) FAIL
AG – FSP – Gandara (FSP clearly less coverage again)
FR – Deso – MS (Deso leading 9 to 6) FAIL

Bronze:
Dzag – RoS – Vabbi (again no challenge at all 5 to 1 for RoS, 4 to 1 for Dzag) FAIL
BT – WSR – RoF (7 to 2, 7 to 1) FAIL
FoW – DL – Arbor (DL leading 7/8 to 1) FAIL

So out of 9 match-ups, 7 are a complete blow-out without any challenge at all, but purely based on the fact that one or two servers have a population of perhaps 5 times as high as the other server/servers. This means that nearly 80% is a fail.

Is this what WvW is supposed to be or is this part of the game just completely screwed up?

He might be trolling :p, I am a bronze legend and sometimes we log like 5-8 warriors into WvW and represent our ‘warrior riffle squat’ guild and killshot people. Boosting about how hard we hit people and oneshot people :p.

Was hilarious, next time we should go for the root train. 100% condi duration and all with as many roots as possible! Oh imagine the laughs!

The only thing that made this week tolerable was that we’d been kittened over by Piken and Vizuna even more in the previous weeks. AG are an awful blob server and Millers are getting there.

Horrible. Just horrible.

You couldn’t be further from the truth, but if I had to correct you I’d be giving away AG strategy. All I’ll say therefore is that you and Miller’s deserve you placings this week. You simply got outplayed.

Pretty sure we didn’t outplay GH, they just have less people, we got tons of pve player from nothing that i hope they farmed so hard in the next matchup that somebody will break, keyboard, monitor, disinstall the game, trow the pc out of the windows, i really hope, many many many pve player Rage quit so hard, that they can’t cry anymore.

So that finally guild group can play.
Ag it’s full of awesome guild that run tagless 90% of the time, most the guild don’t add to a fight, and many guilds go in the wrong side of the map just to have challenge and to give challenge to other guilds and not stack up.

Gh it’s very similar to Ag, just don’t have the massive Pve influx that we didn’t want.
Miller also got Mya and few other guilds!

@KyreneZA: The massive blobbing, PvDooring and capping atleast 2 bloodlust buffs aren’t superior tactics mate.. We’ve seen it before ( Vizunah, Piken )

@Amelia Knox: Respect for your post. This matchup could’ve been a very nice, interesting matchup filled with loads of guild action. I got to admit we’ve had some good brawls with different guilds, but it could’ve been so much better without the skill lag etc! Can’t wait for the next matchup against you guys!

Don’t get me wrong, Guardian has access to a lot of heals—if you build and trait for them, that is. But when I go from playing my Warrior with Healing Signet to playing my Guardian I’m still amazed at how superior Warrior regeneration is with so little effort. For example, Healing Signet + Adrenal Health (minor trait) grants a warrior approximately 500 health per second in full Berserker gear and full Berserker trait. Pair that with Warrior’s health pool and I rarely ever pay any attention to my Warrior’s health in PvE gameplay. That’s pretty insane.

Currently Virtue of Resolve heals for ~100 with a full Berserker build. Now I’m not suggesting it be anywhere near Healing Signet, but surely increasing it to 150-200 wouldn’t be game breaking considering Guardian was given the lowest HP pool in exchange for “more healing”

Here’s a few things I thought of. Not saying we should get all of them but I was trying to address the main issues I see with the class.

change to 15% and add torment when a burn is inflicted on your foe.

Add new zeal grandmaster trait that reduces incoming condition damage on the guardian by at least 30% (considering a warrior has over 60% more base health than us)

Hammer auto no longer drops light fields. Instead it drops a new type of field: Ice.
Ice field:
Blast finisher: Chill
Leap finisher: causes vuln on hit (similar to fire leap but with more blue bubbles)

no longer does immob but instead does a long chill in a cone in front of you

Hammer 4
aoe knockback in a cone in front of you. reduce distance and cooldown.

Hammer 5
Cast time removed. Stability is removed from opponent after one pass through

Sword

Change skill so that it absorbs projectiles and causes aoe chill. Also Blast finisher. (And make this a blue bubble… we don’t see enough bubbles any more OR could make this absorb projectiles and drop an ice field.

Completely change. Make it give 3 stacks of might to allies, blind and burn foes. Attack as it is now is not worth it.

Shield 5 make it reflect instead of absorb projectiles since it has to be well timed. Blast finisher would be nice.

Completely change staff 2. Make it a single target 1200 auto attack type skill. That way we still have aoe and now we have a viable long range weapon all in one. Make it do more damage the further your target is away like the mesmer gs auto but with bluey goodness.

Line of warding now removes stability after one pass thru

gs 4 change to ice field.

Mace

I think Mace is alright would like to make one suggestion now though. Change light field blast finishers to regen instead of retaliation since there are less light fields now.

Sanctuary removes stability after 1 pass through. Make bubble slightly larger again

Smite Condition is now a blast finisher

Spirit Weapons

Remove death timeout for all spirit weapons.
Make all weapons immune during their attack sequence.
Increase health again.
Increase bow autoattacks and make them all aoe.
Make each spirit weapon provide a unique buff to the party while its alive.
Suggestions:
Greatsword: damage increase
Hammer: damage reduction
Bow: condition damage reduction
Shield: Rejuvination

For PvE Defiant should be completely reworked. instead of giving it a count of the number of CCs till the next one works it should be a time based buff for the enemies and should only activate on certain skills used by the monsters. This is the quickest fix I could think of for it.

Your job in high tier wvw is to stay alive. Healway and AH builds provide that.

Good players will simply find counters to your hybrid builds if you try to roam.

So you can belittle the builds people run, but they work.

In short our builds are really limited by our small health pool. Staying alive is often a struggle in many situations. Same story for Ele.

I think there are some amazing ideas in the collaborative page. I hope the devs take notice.

We don’t need to make mandatory gear treadmills, we make all of it optional

This feedback only represents a small portion of Guardian players.

This small portion is what truly matters,
the rest of the player base is running full PTV staff 0/0/30/30/10 without giving other skills a second thought. For me they are simply mindless drones and will run what is considered “effective” 4 months ago;.

Read the burning thread above, it is sticky set. It is a good read and your answer is in there. Not being vague but in a nut shell you apply enough burning it isn’t necessary. Also one of the traits is to apply burn on block which focus is great at.

I am playing with a burning build now, condition heavy, and while not the smartest cat in the herd, use a torch. Why? No idea other than it is different. I’d prefer that Arena Net swap the torch to main hand so I could use a focus or shield but they don’t think like that for some reason.

So to answer your question it isn’t really necessary.

I’m not sure if this is intended, as I didn’t see a patch note on it or anything, but with the recent October 15th content patch, when I get interrupted when casting a spell, it puts the spell on full cooldown instead of that “3 second interrupted cooldown” that it used to get.

Some clarification as to whether or notthis is intended and, if not, some notification that it’s being tracked would be great. Cheers!

Done dozens of tests with this ability since the patch, and its functionality does not work the way it says on the tooltip. It only removes 1 condition on use, and you will only get that condi removal if you happen to be standing in the area that you cast it on. Entering or exiting the field doesn’t remove any conditions for you or allies. I have tested this in SPvP, WvW, and PvE, all with the same effect. While I realize it is probably intended to only remove the conditions on the cast and not from running back in and out, it needs to at least remove the number of conditions that it says in the tooltip, and not only remove 1. As is, this skill is absolute trash, like it was before, and with the fix/nerf to PoV, guardians have been really hurt with this last patch in WvW/SPvP in regards to condition removal.
