Stealth has been broken in every MMO I’ve played. It’s completely idiotic to give unchecked invisibility in a setting where knowing where your opponent is is 90% of the battle. The rogue archetype is ALWAYS kittenedly overpowered because stealth itself is overpowered. It should have been abandoned long ago, but sadly, there are too many people who get off on facerolling invisible characters for devs to risk not including it.

This. Plus I don’t think any necromancer should complain. Condition necro is really strong (as conditions in general are strong in the first place), and if you’re getting killed by thieves consistently 1v1 then that’s not an issue with the class, but rather yourself. Plus necromancer actually is very strong in the zerg as well (power build mostly), can’t say the same for thieves.

Perma stealth will be gone for the most part after the patch, which is good, but thief hardly needs more nerfs than that.

I still come across some godly thieves that can take on 5-6 people (average to really good), kill them all and vanish into the scenery with no less than 50% HP. Not as often as it used to happen but stealth is still broken for those that know how to use it.

Stealth is one of the strongest offenses and defenses a character can have. It can allow you to avoid damage, except for lucky AoEs and melee attacks, and it can also allow you to move unseen by the enemy, giving you the chance to make a clean get away or launch your strongest attack, without the enemy having the chance to avoid it.

That being said, i understand that for some classes, thief in particular, that stealth is their main defensive ability, thats all well and good but when the class has unlimited access to it ( black powder + heart seeker comes to mind) it can get pretty ridiculous. Add in heal while stealthed and condition removal on top of being able to move freely, avoid attacks and being able to land their strongest attack, back stabs for 7k on reasonable armor anyone?

Lets put aside my thoughts on how this game was obviously balanced by some kind of house hold furniture, you may have a different opinion, or you may agree with me. I have two suggestions to change stealth mechanics to make it more balanced with other defenses.

1.Damage knocks the player out of stealth, theres a 1 second grace period when entering stealth, any damage received within the one second will not place you out of stealth.

2.The revealed buff is upped to 4 seconds long and is received every time you exit stealth.

i guess i should state my class: necromancer. Id gladly trade DS for stealth every 10 seconds…You can be over 70% life force and your normal HP will still recieve damage nowadays..“yay”

Just noticed how far down the list this thread has fallen. I suppose it could be due to the lack of input by the devs, everyone seems to have given up interest in it. No 2 way discussion, no replies, just silence since the last post by Jon 9 days ago. Sad.

Agreed. I have been looking at other classes’ threads. Guardian’s forum are by far neglected by devs the most judging by the number of their inputs. Can we get some voices here?

I agree it is too easy. But I’m afraid it all comes down to population balance again.

Its only easy because the other side does not have enough people. When you do come across that rare close match, people defend, people fight and its not easy.

I do agree with your suggestions. Given that the sides are uneven, Anet has got to introduce some sort of handicapping mechanism.

An Asuran laser cannon would be awesome. Or better yet, rather than a portable siege that can be destroyed, make it a new WvW only Utility Skill. That way blobs have to be carefull always because they never know who has that skill. And if a blob of 40 people stacked all on top of one another gets hit by it – bam one shot them all.

Hi Charak,

You have a interesting complaint. If you would use your link and take a look at the SoR/BG/Mag match, as you can tell BG is winning, at times ticking 300-400+ most the match. While mag doesn’t have the population to win, Mags guilds and players are out there fighting hard. Just a few moments before this post, Mag had BG pushed back to Vally in EBG (while our map is queued)

Your problem is expecting you can win the PPT game, with out coverage, you can not. You bring up balance? Both Anet and any WvW player will tell you, WvW is not balanced and won’t be any time soon. It’s up to you to make it fun, you say you’re a commander? Rally 20-30 regular people, train them, get better together. Get out there and fight, drop the “we can win the match” mentality because its (As SpehssMehreen said) a defeatist attitude.

Says the player on the dominating server……….I really think its kinda disgusting that people tell others to enjoy a game they cannot win. For me its a has to be balance between effort and rewards……playing for fights but getting overwhelmed at every turn is NOT my idea of enjoyment, especially since those OP servers are getting more rewards for less effort.

Really the devs should take a stance and face this problem before the competition comes out or they will lose many players who feel they have been ignored and spitted on with this lack of empathy.

To all those players who feel playing a game when you have NO chance of winning is fun, don’t demean those vocal enough to say something is wrong with the game mode. Games are meant to be competitive where each match should not be determined before-hand and that would be the fun factor that most of us are looking for.

Yeah I don’t personally care what we get, we have no chance of getting 1st, but I do understand for some players a big shiny reward is motivation to get out there and fight for their server. There does have to be some reward to fight hard. Giving everyone the same thing would be demotivating (the “why bother” or “just do as little as needed” clause). But then I’m one who chose community over reward. Not everyone is like that though and that’s perfectly fine, too. At least there were options way ahead of time to suit both types.

I’ll still congratulate the winners regardless of what “prize” I get.

I think the problem you guys are seeing with the omega golems is that there was a mass dupe about a week or 2 before league started. Remember when if you put siege in your hand you couldn’t put it back away. That was there quick fix to the problem. Yet it was already to late thousands and thousands of omegas hit the trading post. At one point they were like 10 silver a piece.

Blobs should not be able to taking down a door without sieges. This is the evidence of how this game is bad designed. People will keep zerging in any case but at least there would be a reason, not becouse it’s easy farming towers and keeps…

I think root of the problem is that price of siege weapons has become irrelevant since there’s bunch of people with so much gold it doesn’t matter if they lose 10000 golems.

I think it would be nice if you only get siege prints for doing stuff in wvw not from mechant. That would increase prices if demand was high. I.e. do puzzle get print etc. or research prints in your home tower by collecting some items around the map etc..

And oils/cannons are a joke. There’s no way people can use oil with 1000 red circles on top of it even if it doesn’t get destroyed in 10 seconds.

Spending hours and quite some gold on upgrading keeps and towers, all lost within a min to golem rush…sieg is useless due to eles ability to ignore LOS, defense doesn’t really give any real rewards.

Please buff defense:

- eles shouldn’t be able to ignore LOS
- reinforced doors/walls should be harder to take down
- upgraded guards shoul be a threat and not a joke
- outmanned buff needs revamp really bad
- successful defense should give better rewards

I personally hope they do away with leagues. It is far too easy to stack servers in the current system. If they did leagues and blocked xfers for the week before through duration that would be one thing, but they don’t(and won’t) so it all boils down to numbers and who is willing to pay to move to stack. Time frame, color or w/e will not matter and low pop servers will continue to get the shaft and stacked servers will continue to be bored. win/win for everyone right?

The other day I was thinking that we could do a true red, green, blue, but it can’t happen. All one would have to do is ask, “Hey which color are we going to do this week?” and stack that color. League may work if you base it on a single server, but not over all I think.

Glacial heart, as it stands, is a near-useless, unreliable, gimmicky chill “access” for hammer guardians, we all know this, and we all know Arena-net tries to toy around with this each patches to make it more juicy, although so far, has not succeeded in doing so, as a result..

Here’s my input on what the trait could be changed into; the trait would still be a master tier in the valor trait, but the effect would be as such:

Glacial Heart
Your Virtue of Justice no longer burns the target, applying chill instead
-

This would change Virtue of Justice from:
-
Virtue of Justice

Virtue: Chill foes with every fifth attack.
Activate: You and your allies inflict chill on the next attack

Chill (passive effect): 1 sec
Chill (active effect): 3 sec
-

Obviously the point here would be to change VoJ from a slight damage increase through a condition to a controlled, no-damage snare.

Also, considering “Searing Flames” gets buffed next patch from a 20 second ICD to a 10 seconds ICD, an additional change to it could be as follow:

Searing Flames
When you apply burning or chill to a foe, remove a boon (10 sec ICD)
-

Other traits that affect VoJ in a way could also be adjusted to reflect the change, should you use Glacial Heart.

I feel these 2 changes could be interesting changes to these traits, but what are your thoughts?

  • Make Shield of Judgment provide Protection AND Regeneration
  • Make Shield of Absorption destroy projectiles inside the dome

Are these things really too much to ask?

The guardian’s support role is strong right now, but he cannot perform a ‘tank’ role as well as you would have players believe. There’s a difference. Tanking is always support, but support is not always tanking.

I find that these two abilities have too much of a “studder” to them and are often breaking up fluid movement and fighting. This might of course be the general intent behind making hammer#2 stop for 1/4sec before leaping 300range (the stop together with the short range renders it pretty much useless as a gap-closer) and the skill root of #5 (makes it really hard to use efficiency in a chase/kite situation). I saw that warriors got a fix to their hammer root equivalent and started wondering if a-net simply overlooked the guardian one.

I might be asking for the impossible here, but my suggestion is to fix #2 and #5 to make hammer even more of a guardian weapon, which makes sense imo.

New Krait Historian Achievement Bugged

The Krait Historian achievement appears to be bugged. I have gone around twice to every obelisk (not a fun task) to ensure that I got them all. I’m still sitting at 23/24. And yes I know everyone is going to dismiss this as “you didn’t look hard enough” but I used the dulfy guide and counted going to 24 different locations and each one gave me the “You’ve learned all you can from this obelisk” message.

I think the bug might be related to the fact that I got interrupted during one of my caps by an enemy spawning. He attacked me and my commune cut off as you would expect. I proceeded to kill him, and then went back to cap. It gave me the message that it was already capped, so I figured that it had counted even though I was interrupted. I didn’t check my achievement tally at this point and I really should have, but I didn’t realize the implications until after doing this scavenger hunt twice.

Has anyone else had this problem? I know most people are going to dismiss this, but it would be nice if someone could at least entertain the possibility that it is bugged.

The symbol pulse change is rather odd. From the way I read it each pulse applies 4 seconds, so if you stand in there you could potentially stack up to 16 seconds of swiftness (with the 4 pulses). But if you need the swiftness, you probably don’t need to be standing around waiting for it. :S Should be good for zergs in WvW though with multiple guards…
