Hello all, I looked into this because we intended to have a release note for the changes to the champion loot.
We did modify the gold and bloodstone dust coming from champion bags, and a release note will be added shortly.
What I can tell you is that we made a mistake, this one fell through the cracks and I’m truly sorry. I’ve promised before that we won’t make stealthy economic changes without notes and I mean to stick to that promise.
Thank you all for pointing out the error, we will be more vigilant in the future.
Good luck in your adventures.

From all the servers I’ve fought, AM is the worst. They are just no fun at all. Terrible players and big blobs.

Too bad UW doesn’t have numbers to make this match fun.

What server are you playing on? This is the schedule for next week:

Miller’s Sound [DE] – Far Shiverpeaks – Abaddon’s Mouth [DE]
Underworld – Desolation – Aurora Glade
Gandara – Gunnar’s Hold – Fort Ranik [FR]

Underworld against our favorite ex T1 Gold league sandbagging champion Desolation. This is likely going to be even more uneven.

Warriors are pretty strong right now, but will be seeing changes in an upcoming patch.

We like how they can be tanky, and we like how they can do DPS if they want. We also like the CC they can bring. We just don’t like them doing it all with 1 build.

I’d be more curious to know what people think is the reason behind the fact that score is so directly related to the number of people on a server 24/7 and how WvW could be designed differently to address that moving forward. My personal observation is that the momentum you gain from even a small period of having more people online is so large that it can’t be overcome. Which makes me think we need to be doing more to slow that momentum.

Everything is related to upgrade.

The winning side is winning because they are better or have more number (mostly the later one). They win the majority of the fights in open field. If you try to attack one of their upgraded towers they will just come with a huge zerg and destroy your attack.

That they win most of the fights I’m fine with it and I don’t care much. If they are better or have more numbers in a battle they should win it.

The problem is that because they win mostly every fights they can easily upgrade their stuff while the two losing servers will struggle a lot. And with upgrade come the real problem.

When you see the winning server with T3 towers and T3 keeps all full on supply and a huge zerg running around that will wipe you if you try to take one objective, do you still want to attack them?

Even while there are empty paper towers from the other losing team that have no siege up to counter your ram, no player to defend them and give the same personal reward as the fully upgraded tower from the winning team?

Most players don’t and I agree with them. Why take 2 hours to get 1 tower, wiping several times, filling the bags of the winning server with awesome loots while you can cap 50 camps and towers in that same time by attacking the other losing server…

That’s the reason behind my suggestion. Give a bonus to the losing servers based on score difference with the score of the winning server

+ health to gate/wall
+ supply from dolyak
+ stats to NPC
+ damage on siege

This is making it harder to attack the losing servers for the winning server giving them a chance to defend and upgrade
Second it’s making it easier for the losing servers to attack the winning server (with the bonus to siege damage).

The losing servers will still lose every open field battle but they will have a chance to play smart and keep up in score.

If you’re going to change the way waypoints work then you’re going to have to do something about golems (alphas and omegas) and ram mastery.

Golems and traited superior rams currently burn gates down (reinforced or not) faster than a defensive force can get there.

I think the best way to stop population imbalance is to reward smaller servers for ganging up on larger servers. Give diminishing returns to PPT for servers who are in the lead in terms of total points and/or PPT while giving bonus PPT to servers who take objectives from the leading server. This would encourage 2v1 on larger servers which would help ease out the population imbalance.

Also add more “tactical” locations for smaller groups to outmaneuver larger groups. The terrain for most of the maps is relatively flat; make more choke points, make underground tunnels such as the one by Blue Keep in EB, and make more uneven terrain with sloping hills that can’t be climbed from certain angles so that smaller groups can take a tactical advantage on larger groups.

Next release kittentards.

If you can’t handle confusion with this then y’all need to go do something else with your lives.

lol…. so your solution is to condi removal it with a pve skill, triggering the damage from those 25 stacks of confusion, and within 10 seconds of combat they’ll all be back.

hm exactly my thoughts.

I killed Teq a few times, 1-2 hours of organizing, making sure you have the right people. fighting for 15 minutes and then gathe your loot 1 rare rest greens and more crappy dragonite doesn’t make Teq worth my time.

If i want a rare and greens i can farm champions for 5 minutes and get better loot and xp.

Ofcourse the special Teq weapons that have a chance to drop keep people interested but after 15 kills and getting the same crap loot, it’s not worth the hassle.

I would rather have the weapons to be gained if we did all achievements then waiting/hoping for a chance to maybe get something good, but that will be the day.

So yeah. Teq will remain lonely for a very very long time..

(NB: Oh i just remembered…We have a new healing skill.. it might become easier to kill Teq now.)

I’ve seen gw2spidy graphs jump and supply bars drop before patch of items that turned out to be used in new recipes. You can check it after any big spike caused by a new use for an item. Note when the news officially broke and check the spidy graph. Supply often gets bought out.

Sorry for the extreme topic title, but it’s becoming more and more evident.

At first, I was too lazy to write this post but after reading comments by a karma food seller in a karma thread I realized just how far insider trading is beginning to go.

This individual had commented on how he knew exactly what the demand for karma food was (as he made it frequently for profit) and how much sold, then suddenly, for no apparent reason, he sold multiples of what he usually does and saw a huge demand spike on the TP. Low and behold, two days later the ‘accidental’ removal of karma boosting happens (mid-August).

My personal story is much more severe…

I was one of the few people who still made The Crossing. I made them very regularly and had become quite familiar with how they fluctuated in price and how frequently they sold. Then, a couple days before this last major patch where they suddenly could not be made anymore (and we had no public warning of) one of my older listings at a much higher price sold… I found this strange as literally THREE MINUTES before there had been seven others listed lower than mine. The Crossing DOES NOT SELL THIS FAST… ever. It is expensive and a true specialty item.

After the patch it became immediately clear to me why this happened. Someone had gotten inside information that it would a) no longer be craftable b) would be blessed with the ability to pick which stats you want on it and, the big one, c) it would not become account bound in the same way other MF stat items would. In other words, you could sell The Crossing on the TP with the ability for people to pick whatever stats they want and with ZERO new supply because it can not be made anymore!!

I guess there’s no question why someone bought up nearly a dozen of them to have an exclusive supply monopoly on them where they could charge practically any price.

Did I mention that I had stumbled into a /say convo in a hidden jumping puzzle where someone mentioned the crossing not being able to be made anymore in the next patch shortly after the TP incident? How did these people get this information!?

I feel this is coming from testing and some people who have been given privileged access to content prior to public patch notes or comments. Many of them play regularly, are in guilds, and have many friends on servers. They can talk to their friends on Mumble where Anet has no clue they may have tipped them off. They may not be in the same guild or anything so tracking the source is even more difficult.

This is a major problem. The affects can be seen in legendary issues, specialty item issues and all other aspects of the market as certain players with access to this information are becoming more and more bold with how they use it to benefit (or give to their friends to benefit).

Please Anet, get your house in order and stop the proliferation of this information. Since you can’t control it, you need to make it public immediately before it hits test servers or preview servers. You must communicate these changes before these people have an opportunity to poison the well. Unfortunately, it is the only solution.

If true, the idea that someone at Arenanet is allowing (intentionally or not) a select few to make massive profits they otherwise shouldn’t be able to make is a disturbing one.

“Allowing” is not the right word. They need testers. Everyone benefits from good testers. Just not corrupt ones. They need to clean their house.

This info is coming out more and more, including on reddit. I would like to know what Anet is doing about it.

In your case, which is incredibly specific and the result of in-your-face obvious advance knowledge, it would be quite easy to track the accounts of those that bought the crossing. They could check out what other stuff they bought shortly before other patches came out. If the pattern is similar, terminate the account and investigate the chat history.

Good ideas:

- An accurate WvW population indicator, based on a server’s total hours spent in WvW in the last 24 hours. By all means keep the existing overall indicator as well, but base the actual transfer cost on the WvW measure. Medium pop and below are always free to transfer to.

- Allow a guild to retain its influence etc when transferring, but only when transferring down.

- Scale the PPT timer to be based on the smallest of the three server’s WvW presence at any given time, recalculating at every tick. Example: reset night on T1 there might be 10 mins between ticks, night time on T8 during the week might be an hour.

- Whenever a server has more than 50% of PPT, players on the other two servers appear as yellow to each other instead of red and there are no rewards for taking “yellow” server objectives.

- Accurate queue timers, and the ability to queue multiple maps at once.

- Outmanned buff needs more granularity, i.e. instead of simply being outmanned or not outmanned, scale the buff for more rewards the more outmanned you are.

Bad ideas:

- Anything involving more Siegerazer-style NPCs. A balanced player coverage should be the goal here; NPC-based solutions are a crutch and won’t solve anything.

- The league system. Server rankings absolutely must determine match-ups on a weekly basis, otherwise dying servers only die faster.

- The edge of the mists. T1 players should be encouraged to transfer down, not be rewarded with a new map for their stubbornness.

Logically we have to define the problems first

1. too many people on some servers cause long queues
2. too few people on other servers cause imbalance in potential power
3. play times cause imbalance in power at certain times

Unfortunately we don’t really have anything but anecdotal information to show proof of these problems. But, the solution is whatever accomplishes moving people from high population servers to low population servers.

The first solution has been suggested by others. Separate pve from wvw, merge low pop servers, give us accurate stats on population, and then let people transfer for free to lower pop servers. This allows players to solve the problem themselves.

There is only one balance issue. Queues are not a problem Arenanet should be addressing, they are a symptom of players being unwilling to transfer or ignorant of the transfer opportunity.

The balance problem is that of coverage. While some servers have many overnight players, other servers have barely any. This leads to situations where the maps are completely one colour overnight with waypoints and full upgrades in every keep. This, in turn, leads to boring games that nobody enjoys and makes the score irrelevant.

Sixty per map would force the population to spread out. Or the community to organize and schedule. It’s about the tipping point for culling/lag in three way battles too.

Remember, there are four maps, too.

+1 on this…..

i have suggested this many many many times…..

You don’t have to leave. It’s all about choice. Hate the queues, investigate elsewhere. Don’t want to leave, then deal with the queues. Simple.

While not ideal, I’ve been getting a constant trickle of Ori/ancient/gossimer from salvaging every item I pick up (….yay… salvage-o-matic and luck).

The only other way is to go on ore/wood runs with your main and/or alts daily. And just start saving up. Since it hasn’t been announced when yet, we have maybe another month or two until it comes out (maybe early Dec). Or, they could be reconsidering how to handle ascended armor after the blacklash from the weapons.
