Female characters look way better

If you’re a male, obviously females will look better to you than some ugly rat goblins, plants or cat cows.

Not every man is heterosexual and not every woman is exclusively attracted to men, nor do they always base their characters on what they find attractive.

I suggest they a much larger grouping like a party that you can opt into, that the megaserver treats as one entity.

like Jon invites you to “Company”
when jon changes maps, everyone in company goes to same server, if no server can fit said company, it creates a new one.
Up to 100 players.
if you leave map on your own you leave company

This can be used by anyone, guild or not, so servers can use it for events, groupings, WvW people can use it for squads/zergs. Parties can use it for small parties. The main purpose is to give players no matter what their size/goal the ability to choose to group with friends if they choose.

no content should be designed to require more than 100 players (honestly i feel no content should be designed to require more than 80 players) though it can scale up to map limit.

LS can do anything an expansion can and is free which makes it superior if you ask me..
An Expansion wont make the Gem-Shop go away or approach Game Design flaws in a different way than we have seen with LS in the past.

I like the LS approach, though I do want more permanent content. There are tons of locations in the game were you can tell there should be zone portals, and I expect at least a couple in the Maguuma area to open up with season 2. As for the idea that expansions would mean new continents and/or races, I can see that, but what I don’t see is any reason why LS can’t have those too.

IMO, this is a terrible idea. I’m not sure where you are getting “a couple silvers” from. If everyone has stacks upon stack in their bank, they will be dirt cheap. Now if you want a vendor price for them and keep them accountbound, then I’m ok with that, but they will be worthless on the TP.

Hi my dear Anet!!!! need more evidence that megaserver was bad idea???? forget the megaserver, it is quite simple: “we were wrong, sorry. We will back to the previous server method”.
Think of the players (customers) and dont destroy the game

What about those players that have been complaining about empty maps for almost two years then?
Should they not think of them? Why are you more important than those people?

I come from a server that had low population and while it could be nice to have someone help at certain times, my experience of the megaserver so far has been:

1) Incredible lag and being unable to use skills.
2) Waiting times increased coming into all maps to twice what it was.
3) At least 3 disconnections per day and up to 8 disconnections per day.
4) Missing the loot from event chests as champ etc is dead before my lag infected toon can make contact now a regular happening (3 chests today).
5) Events over before you can get to them.
6) Huge increase in gold sellers private messaging me.
7) Communications issues. Messages being lost in spammed trivia.
8) But most importantly, my community has suffered severely and I rarely see friends and people I know anymore. My own husband tonight, when we left WvW was sent to a different server even though we were in our own guild. My community was lovely and I feel a real sadness that it appears gone. We were only small but we lost sleep to help each other and made time to get stuff done for each other.
I feel if the bosses and events had not been made so hard then smaller groups would still be able to manage them and continue to play during the non NA time periods. Once they were made so hard that they required a zerg to complete, the Oceanic time zone fell off on our server from a few to zero. I still remember doing Jormag with 6 people. I understand a lot of people were lonely and could not manage going solo. I understand this. But dumping us all together?

So I myself, would prefer to have a little difficulty finding someone to help me rather than the above. I feel this was a huge mistake and also agree with many that our opinions are not taken into consideration. I believe this megaserver will be the downfall of server identity and for many people the final straw. This is my experience.

Honestly, at this point I’ve pretty much lost any motivation to do world bosses. That’s previously how I got most of my gold, but it’s the complete opposite of fun to be in a blob of so many people on a boss that I can’t even freaking see the boss, nevermind any tells or AoEs on the ground. Not that seeing tells or AoEs matters much anymore, since bosses don’t live long enough to do much harm.

I miss regularly doing Fire Shaman; now I have no way of knowing when he’s up. I especially liked doing him with very small groups – he’s so much fun with only one or two other people. I miss when Taida Covington could actually kill people if you weren’t careful. Now she doesn’t do kitten. I miss doing temples, of which I have done Dwayna a total of one time since the patch, and none of the other temples. Temples were especially fun with 10 people or less, which, yes, actually did happen on TC sometimes.

Some world bosses were actually challenging with only 10-20 people there. Now they’re just boring blobfests. We have enough blobs in wuv, why did you need to force them on us in PvE too? It’s like you want to reward people for going AFK with auto-attack on, since that’s all the intelligence that’s required to do any WB now.

It’s become a boring lagfest, and map chat is completely toxic. I used to love map chat on TC while doing the WB train – socializing with my server was a major plus to running around killing bosses – and now I can’t even stand to look at it most of the time.

It’s sad that my main activity in the game is now unplayable for me. I guess I’ll have to start running dungeons daily now to make up for the gold I’d be getting from world events.

Dear Anet,

You have killed my temple/world boss trains. I used to really enjoy leading those; now I get to enjoy the memory. I’ve spent over a year building my server community as a leader and organizer and the heart of that was my work running world bosses.

I used to run with a large and familiar crowd. Not a bunch of randoms: my people, from my server. People I’ve been playing with for a long time. I have a long list of followers on my friends tab, many of whom would pop into my current zone to see if I was leading an event.

I used to hop into town and see familiar faces every night. People I would shout-out to, who would shout-out to me. Then I would say “I’m off to [WP] to start Dwayna, come join me!” or the like. And they would join me! Because they could. They knew that when they hit Malchor’s it’d be the same Malchor’s that I just tagged up in. They knew that they could reliably follow me to any map in the game, and they did so, and we had a blast.

Now all of that is dead.

Is this what you wanted, Anet? Because I miss my community. I was in Harathi the other day and someone asked if there were any FA guilds present. I could have hugged the guy. He’s now in my guild, because I’m not giving up. We’ll find ways to organize events and build our community again. Even if you very clearly don’t want us to do so.

I do not want to sift through the thousand+ posts so please forgive me if this has been asked.

Is it not possible to leave at least ONE hub server specific ? Its annoying having not just our guild but our server scattered in several different instances. Please for the love of god give us somewhere server specific outside of WvW.

Sounds like a great case for guild halls

Well dang, that blog post amounts to a pretty epic face slap.

Only if you don’t actually read it.

This -

“Our megaserver team will continue to monitor the performance of the technology on live and evaluate your feedback. We will continue to tweak and update the way the system works until it is providing even better megaservice!”

Is not a face slap.

That said, there are some things (most notably the ability to keep large guild groups together more reliably) that need to be implemented REALLY soon.

Let us right click anyone on our friends or guild list and “travel to XYZ zone” without having to be in 5-man parties. Shuffling parties in just takes way too much time and is really not fun.

T6 prices will skyrocket after the 15th

No because lvl 80 zones wont be affected by the megaserver rollout until later this year.

So how’d that prediction work out for you, I see T6 blood has hit 48s each now.

Looking at TP Sell/Buy prices and Supply vs Demand, Ancient Wood looks fine, but Ori Supply seems to be steady while the Demand has gone up (but the price is relatively stable).

BTW, you mentioned Powerful Blood (not a node associated material as mentioned previously). It’s price in FACT spiked down a good bit after the patch went live and has since rebounded to pre-patch levels and while it HAS moved slightly higher since the patch there was a spike in demand (for some reason) and NO drop in Supply (your claim of a pending problem).

So far, I see no evidence that the Megaserver system has in any way “hurt” the overall economy in terms of farming nodes. Obviously, it’s not as easy as looking at GW2nodes any longer, but I loaded several characters into Frostgorge last night and they all hit the same nodes (once I located them by using MAP chat for 15 seconds).

I know I am farming less because I just don’t have the time to run around the map to look for the nodes. Previously it was so convenient to just use the website to go to where they are. Now, that website is mostly useless.

I assume I am not the only T6 farmer affected by this. But if you have lots of time to explore the whole map, sure, you are probably not affected.

I would argue that the mayority of common t6 mats is being generated by salvaging, not gathering, so this change might have a bigger impact on you personally than the general player base. Right now it also seems that there are more people in Orr and Southsun that werent there before. They might not farm nodes but will pick up whatever they come across, so theyfarm more ori and ancient wood than before.

I am wondering what server most of you are on. I come from a T1 NA highly populated server. Overflows are not new to me at all. World bosses being a giant ball of light are not new. A zerg of players decimating LS event and or normal events is not new.

I realize there are other concerns here, but for those concerns I am a little puzzled.

An RP tag won’t work. I’m assuming it works like this: if you put up the tag, you’re sent to the same megaserver instance as others with the tag.

It won’t work because everyone will use the tag to get into the same instance with friends/party members/guildies. If I want to be in the same instance as my party, we pop the tag. If I want to be in the same instance as my friend, we pop the tag, if I’m doing a guild mission, we pop the tag. Everyone will use it.

And everyone popping the tag is equivalent to no one popping it.

They nerfed the mobs in the lower levels to compensate for the lack of trait points on lower level characters with the new trait system. It doesn’t seem like they have downleveled higher characters to compensate for these weaker mobs ‘cause I’ve noticed the same thing with higher leveled characters one-shotting everything in the low levels. The update broke the balance between higher level characters accompanying lower level friends.

I’m afraid that no amount of finetuning and prioritizing can help in the situation of sudden zone population shifts (world boss train, for example). When train arrives to a new zone, there is a limited number of instances available initially (often only one, in otherwise dead zones like Sparkfly). Because server cannot predict how many people will arrive, it will only create new instances after the already existing ones are filled. So, regardless of prioritizing, when a huge wave of players arrive, the server’s choice of where to put any single player is very limited (often, to only one option – the instance that was created last and was not filled yet).
When there’s no possibility of choice, prioritization simply cannot work.

But it absolutely could predict this. This is totally something smart programming and study of previous statistics could help with. The bosses are on fixed timers. They are predictable. Anet could start creating extra instances for zones a few minutes ahead of the boss train, with the numbers modelled based on the number of people at the previous world boss and so on (please don’t try to argue specific language – this is doable, that’s the point), and sort people appropriately as they arrive.

Problem solved, really.

EDIT – To be clear, this programming, Astral. It is design. They do not “have to” wait for the instances to fill to create new ones. Indeed they should not. They should be creating new ones predictively as others partially fill (or, as noted, even before they are needed). It’s not rocket surgery.

I’d like to revise and amend my remarks regarding difficulties imposed on large guilds by Megaserver.

Others have proposed solutions to the server community / identity, RP, and language issues. The following should not be incompatible with any of those ideas.

Problem

Because Megaserver is trying to keep instances as full as possible, a large guild that could max out an instance by itself will have a hard time getting together. Guilds have been trying to solve the problem themselves by using the party system to ferry people into one instance, but for popular content the instances become hard capped quickly. It’s also very inconvenient and time consuming.

Even with the “sorting hat” features – it’s unclear if those have been added yet – Megaserver can never know ahead of time whether a member of such a guild is just there to solo, or if the rest of the guild will be on their way shortly. It can’t read minds. What we need is some way to tell it when we’re ready to be grouped together.

Proposal

Guild officers should be given a button that instructs Megaserver to begin a consolidation process. This would create a new instance of the officer’s current map and offer each guild member from other instances a ferry to the new guild instance. The guild instance should be exclusive to guild members for a short period of time – just long enough to accept the ferry and port in. After that, the guild instance joins Megaserver’s pool of available instances for anyone to join according to the whims of the sorting hat. Guild members who are late to the event would either be sorted in by the sorting hat or would have to ask to be ferried in by party, but the bulk of the guild would be united quickly and easily.

I would hope that if there has to be a price tag on accessing the guild-instance button it would be a one time cost. It can’t have a long cooldown or a high price tag per use or it would be useless.

In case the creation of extra instances really is a problem from a server cost standpoint, note that it’s likely a net gain of zero instances. By consolidating a guild onto their own instance, you vacate the other instances that probably would have become hard capped anyway.
