LOL
You guys are forgetting one important detail…
You don’t know what Scarlet’s motive yet…
How about you let them finish the story.
Flat Character LMAO
Not one you have a clue on the … (cough) letter on the subject.
Her base motive that started all this? I never personally said anything about her motive, but you’re addressing all of us, so.. I know what it is, and you should, too, if you’re fond of her. Your comment leads me to believe you don’t? It’s stated right in the short story.. and should have been in the game, but whatever.
It’s just an awful motive in this context and is a bit paradoxical. She’s raging against something which absolutely cannot be escaped.
Which has considerable potential, but the writers seem unaware of using it in a way which actually would be interesting. Heck, they might even be unaware of the paradox itself, I don’t know.
How dare you want to reconnect to the same map, progress and location you DC’d at like you can in Guild Wars 1. How dare you.
No. If you aim properly (you can alter your path with the walk forward and walk backwards keys ) you’ll end up on a branch.
Follow it and you’ll find a dangerous path filled with poison water and tricky jumps that require standing in stones hidden underwater. If you go on, you’ll en up by a baubles chest and a 1UP pickup.
But nothing really worth going through all the trouble of going there for. Thus likely prone for a future expansion.
I’ve got a better solution. Guesting was implemented to allow friends to play together even if they were on a different server. So, to guest, require an invite from a server resident.
A group farming champions is fine as it is group content. Multiple groups farming single group content (champions) for faster rewards is a problem in the game design and even though it is popular it will eventually need a solution.
If you pay 200g, you are doing something wrong.
You propably follow a mediocre guide on the internet that everybody else uses and dont gather stuff yourself.
The 200g figure also doesnt subtract the money you get back from selling the stuff you crafted.
If you know what you are doing and know the market, you can even make a profit while leveling from 400 to 500.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
Complaining, suggestions, whining, feedback; the same idea can be all of these things.
So how does a professional handle these situations? Do you mock the community? ignore the community? or perhaps listen? The last one is ideal the second is sometimes all you can do….. the first choice is the worst choice and usually the first one an unprofessional picks.
Anet Dev post,
http://i.imgur.com/BA20tY6.jpg
This post and many others especially on the bloodlust topic really show a breakdown in communication and respect for the players input.
Thinking that the people posting on the forums are not the majority of players is correct, most people don’t post on forums…. However automatically dismissing the majority of forums posters feedback without finding out if it’s a view shared by the majority of the WvW players is foolish.
Anet thought bloodlust was a good idea…. That’s fine, whats not fine is when all the players started saying why it was not a good idea devs totally ignored them and as time went on it turned to actively taunting and mocking the most die-hard fans of WvW (those of the GvG community)
If you chose to ignore player feedback that’s fine but have a logical reason that can be intelligently stated. All I have seen and so many others is constantly changing reasons and excuses when vague ones are even given. Being emotionally attached to the game you develop is a good thing; letting ego get in the way is a bad thing.
Give some wxp buff something that does not unbalance fights or get rid of the buff. The GvG community might come back and have fun again In case you don’t know GvG community is the hardcore WvW community and a massive driving force behind GW2 competitive end game play.
If you don’t see this now Anet all hope is lost.
Skills that let you pseudo-AFK through a target’s core mechanics at little to no DPS loss are completely broken. I mean I’m definitely no Guardian expert but it’s not like Warrior where you can just load utilities up with multiple ‘Signets of hitting harder’ or ‘Shouts of supreme skull crushing’ or even ‘Banners of slaying hoes’
Skye Eterna ~ Mesmer | Arya Slade ~ Charrdian | Kiera Thine ~ Ranger
Oceanic ~ [LOD] [Noob]
(edited by Dolan.3071)
Therefor, Aragorn is a better Ranger than 90% of the GW2 population.
And Legolas is a scrub DwarfBow ranger.
Cause BearBow would have been too mainstream.
Most used: Guard/Mes/War/Nec/Ele.
Yes, i use 5 chars at time. Because REASONS.
So we have a huge problem there that comes with the LFG, its almost impossible to make the party you want you will get random/lowbie or whatever. So i was thinking about it the other day. What if an Ele could summon a giant mace to one shot mobs and the fastest speed runs would just be 5 eles? That would suk for me as a warrior having to reroll to a caster. And i think its not their fault if the classes is extremly weak in PvE compared to guardian/warrior, the person just likes his class and he dosent have to reroll for something he dosent likes I think the problem is coming from the : DPS side because in PvE you pretty much only need 3 things ( might, fury, stability, vulnerability) Thats the most used stuff , the rest is all about kill the thing.
So its obvious that the content cant become very hard and require huge control effects or something but i think arenanet can buff their armor/hp + the base damage for PvE to solve the inbalance issue. I know alot of people dont care because they have dungeon guilds, but i pug 95% of my runs and wating 15min for the ‘right’ party is not fun or getting randoms and killing the boss for 15 mins its not fun either. And honestly the ‘’ ffriendly casual game’’ is kinda false lol. Gw2 speed run is probably the most elitist thing ive ever seen in a video game. seriously just fix their poor dps and poor armor and it should be okay.
sure class are balanced lol, thats why on my thief i get one shotted vs effigy in CoF and my warr can eat 3 hits while being full zerker lol
they could get rid of all the pve world bonus associated with wvw.
that way, you can get rid of all the pvers who are interested in the bonus and not wvw.
The people causing the imbalance are not doing it for the rewards……….
GvG, or even numbers vs even numbers deathmatch is the endgame for a huge number I would say the majority of all serious PvPers in any MMO.
Makes perfect sense GvG was growing such a large community of outstanding players.
GW2 has complexity of classes builds and play in group fights a great meta and all classes other then ranger are viable….. it was perhaps the best group vs group MMO regarding balance, teamwork and high skill cap I have played. I played them all from DAoC to WoW multiple season deadly glad cash prize winner. If they devs just got out of the way with GvGs GW2 could have been something.
Hi All,
I wanted to comment about the incident that happened recently in-game, surrounding some negative community interaction from a member of the ArenaNet staff.
Simply put a big mistake was made by one of our employees, for which he is both very upset and sorry. He allowed his personal feelings to affect his interactions in-game whilst representing ArenaNet, and this is absolutely unacceptable.
Like all players, we are human, and all have our opinions on the game. However these opinions should never disrupt other player’s enjoyment of the things they love. On top of this we have worked very hard to create a community that is respectful to one another, and for this behavior to have occurred while a developer is representing ArenaNet is doubly saddening.
We all cherish the opportunity to play with the community, and we absolutely rely on you all for in game feedback, and personally I hope that this incident does not hamper what has so far been an amazing relationship and opportunity for us all.
I would therefore like to sincerely apologize for this behavior on behalf of our staff member. We are taking steps to address the incident and for his part, he is very sorry for behaving in the manner in which he did.
Regarding Guild game play, please understand it is extremely important to us, and an area we are paying a great deal of attention to, so please do be patient with the developers who work tirelessly on making WvW the very best it can be, they have a great deal of respect for you all, and value your collaboration in pushing this pioneering mode forward. Also please note this member of staff is not on the WvW team.
Finally, World vs. World is a free-for-all battle. Our expectation of staff is that they should be playing, and enjoying the game like everyone else, and not being disruptive or disrespectful to others.
And in this spirit I hope we can move forward, and continue, what has up to this point, been a great community/developer relationship. One that I know our team massively values and loves.
Thank you all for your time and i hope you have a lovely weekend,
ChrisW

Consumers as a whole are always so quick to blame. From fast food restaurants to video game companies, customers take the littlest things and go to town with them, claiming their “rights” or “feelings” were woefully violated.
There are many consumers who are just real jerks. Anyone who has worked at a fast food restaurant, restaurant, or retail store would agree.

Ironically, your post came right after a dev post saying that he was WRONG.
Yeah, you need to read up about public damage control. :P
Cool downs are far too long.
Not enough number of skills and utilities.
Weapon swap cool down is too long and not necessary.
The result is game with very low skill cap, and high predictability that has little rotation choice on PVE and virtually no counter play in PVP.
Combined that with the dual stats and linear trait progression system it has basically stagnated the game. It severely limits the number of builds and play style.
They should change the name of the game to build wars because that’s what it is. 9/10 fights, the results are determined by builds and not by skill. I don’t understand at all why the game has taken this direction given how much Sharp supposedly likes counter play when he talks about all this on SoTG.
With the NPC AI they have?
Uhh… no thank you.
Dear Anet,
Please change the Queensdale champions to spawn in some fashion that makes the farm train unattractive. I don’t have a problem with the champ farms there, per se (though I think it’s boring); however, almost every time I am on that map I see people verbally abusing “random” players who just play the game and “start” events before “the train arrives”.
And that’s ridiculous. So the “train” should be prevented, and perhaps then “normal” players can just play the game in an enjoyable manner.
Thanks.
Scarlet is an improvement over the villains we’ve had in GW2 so far and I hope ArenaNet continues to move in that direction but I can’t argue that the villains from GW1 were more interesting.
I don’t remember specific White Mantle characters but I do remember watching them kill those innocent villagers and I remember their obnoxious attitudes. Those were guys you wanted to beat up and stop.
I did not finish the Factions campaign but what I saw of Shiro in the game made him seem a very intriguing villain.
That may be one of the big flaws of GW2’s villains. We never SEE them in the game except to fight them. The only way we are shown their backgrounds is through out-of-game stories, which are fun to read but they should not be the ONLY source of character development shown to players.
We got to know the White Mantle (and suspect something might be up with them) while playing GW1. We’re shown visions of Shiro’s past while playing the game. You didn’t need to read any wiki or story, it was all there in the game.
In stark contrast, we never even see Zhaitan until the very end. Any minion that shows up is quickly killed with nothing being shown in the game for their characterization beyond being a slave doing the the dragon’s will. Scarlet’s background is left to an out-of-game story rather than having characters see (uncover) it in the game.
I just realized this is another example of ArenaNet’s tendency to leave out important explanations inside their game and expect players to research the info (or telepathically mind-read it). They did this in GW1 and they have done this with game mechanics in GW2 but at least they now taking a first step to fix this lapse by finally making a tutorial, they’ll need many other steps but at least it’s a start.
On the story side, they have the same problem. They leave out worthwhile story elements from the game and expect every player to be reading out of game material to learn them.
A story or a wiki should be a supplement, NEVER the main source of information of game lore or mechanics. Any player should be able to get the full story (or understanding of any game mechanic) solely by explanations providing in the game.
Fortunately, it looks like ArenaNet is improving how they present stories with the new cinematics. I just hope they manage to finally break themselves of their habit of leaving out important information from their game.
Zhaitan killed Tybalt Leftpaw. Checkmate.
The problem was Zhaitan never gloated over it. He never mocked our characters after doing it. From what we’ve seen Zhaitan didn’t even know that he killed an NPC important to our characters anymore than a hurricane would know it knocked down a house.
A good, memorable villain makes you want to hate them. The Elder Dragons are so empty of personality and motivation (from what we are shown in the game) that there’s nothing for us to hang any feeling of vengeance. You might get angry at a flood, but you can’t hate it anymore than you might hate a rock if it fell on top of Tybalt and killed him.

They may as well call it Grandmaster Goldspender, because it’s gonna cost a very pretty penny to get 500 in all 8 crafts.
“Obtaining a legendary should be done through legendary feats…
Not luck and credit cards.”
See… all this above.
That is what we call opinion.
If you don’t like the content, skip it wait for more.
I enjoy the character, and I have shown that am not alone.I will continue to ask for more Scarlet
Some of you can jump hopping mad over it, I enjoy it…
In fact some that enjoy Scarlet, feed the trolls to keep her name buzzing.
Ah but that’s your opinion too, which is what I was waiting for you to say that if you liked Scarlet yourself or if you actually thought that she was a good character. Simply stating that she is the best villain in GW2 is arguable to a point. Since your argument has a heavy bias that makes it invalid. You lost.
shades revoked
Which turns your whole argument into a log opinion sooo …
Tequatl isn’t hard though, he just has a lot of health a 15 minute timer.
Literally the only hard part is having to organized 100+ randoms….. It’s a joke IMO.
Can we have real content now that doesn’t have to do with zergs?
No I don’t miss pure healing roles.
I do miss having more roles that actually bring value than straight up DPS.
Guardians are currently the only ones that can offer substantial support to have another role other than DPS. Support in this game is just… sad. It’s hard to pin down exactly why (Probably a lot of reasons) but here’s a few ideas:
- Conditions being lackluster in PVE. They don’t really do jack.
- Only might, aiges and fury do anything in PVE.
- Control is almost completely nullified by Defiant and only reversed by adding in regular mobs to an encounter that actually have an effect.
- Healing stat doesn’t scale with almost anything and when it does the scaling is so low that it’s worthless.
- The roles system was rethought but the encounters are very standard MMO quality encounters (With exception of a few recent ones).
Among other reasons.
So overall there needs to be some substantial modifications to make the game around this system, not just throw the system in the same old MMO and hope it works.
GW1 monks have got to be one of the hardest healing roles in PvP.
Watch for diversion, weapon swap for a quick WoH, hide energy from the Mesmer, swap to shield then quickly to prot staff for Guardian.
I remember doing all that, moving and learning to cancel skills when needed (like mid cast Diversion)
I miss it… but it’s not needed here. I like not being the pillow people fall to when they get hurt. GW2 offers me to support while helping DPS and it feels good to not “red bar” (although prot monks were more proactive)
I’m usually typing on my phone
I don’t want a healer role i want complex and unpredictable AI so that people might think of taking something other than full on damage.
My feelings:
lf1m monk
lf1m monk
lf1m monk
lf1m monk
> takes monk henchmen.
Dungeon finder in <other game>
Estimated time before dungeon: 1 hour 54 minutes
> Switches to healer > Estimate time before dungeon: 5 seconds
No … not interested. I hated that.
