Tequatl Rising - finally a worthy challenge!

I don’t think people have a problem with how challenging it is. But a problem with if 2-3 idiots get on a turret it is a fail. We can’t control who gets them first. Then it is even worse in over flow.

…if you’ve been paying attention at all it has been repeatedly pointed out how badly a few people or even an individual can troll an entire event by either using a turret poorly or just not doing anything at all while in it; with the only real recourse being to either accept incipient event failure or to do something that violates the spirit of the game like pulling mobs to the trolled turret to kill them. Neither are good for the long term health of this game.

We need mobile bundle pickups that perform the same type of functions as the turrets; in the same manner that charrzookas are handled at Jormag’s lieutenant. This would side step the issue entirely of a few people being able to block event completion. They wouldn’t even have to be as good as the turrets as long as we could get enough people using them as a safety valve.

Well, Berserker builds are probably the most OP specialization in the game, so it’s nice to see the Soldiers and Knights get a chance to shine

I honestly don’t think that’s necessary. As someone who’s top 100 in structured PvP, I can safely say bleed cap has no influence on any PvP fight. In world vs. world, it’s even more limited because there’s so much condition cleansing everywhere.

It is very aggravating that they are soooo focused on PvP, when a large fraction of guild wars players are PvE focused (including me; I HATE any kind of PvP). What about us Anet? You can’t just cater to one ‘clique’ of users :/

I run Knights on my warrior. First time I have ever known to be favoured over ’zerkers

I run Knights on my Guardian with runes to help with getting downed up – first time I’ve seen the build that suits my play style deemed ‘useful’.

’Zerker is favored in everything, can you guys just deal with not being the stars for once?

Condition damage would like to extend a warm welcome to all berzerkers, you are a most welcome part of the “honourable order of unviable damage”. We hope you will make yourself at home and enjoy all future meetings at all major world boss events.

If too many people in the map refuses to waypoint when dead, .

I thought Anet designed the game so people got rewarded when they helped someone down or dead?

So the Teq content is designed that if you die you have to waypoint cause no one will help you, what sort of game design is that oO? I thought they were against this type of thing?

Its simple. It takes too long to rez someone from fully dead in combat. You lose too much damage.

Stop being lazy and take the 30 seconds to run back(not directed at you).

I stand by what i say Stx, you can’t design a game which promotes community spirit to take it away in an event which makes it every man or woman for themselves. No wonder so many groups fail the event.

So people should res you, while your body lies in a poison cloud and get killed themselves? When there’s already 20 other bodies lying around? If you are waiting for someone to res you, you ARE playing for yourself.

Exactly, that’s why beating Tequatl doesn’t make you a better player.

We aren’t ever going to change their minds, because for once in this game they can feel “elite”.

? ranger is not bad for dungeons. sword warhorn is pretty freaking great. And they are good in open world in the sense that you can just stand back and bearbow the hell out of mobs without taking a hit.
although yes 90% or more of rangers are bad at dungeons especially the kudzu twilight guys

This argument is not misleading in the slightest.

If I have food on my guardian that gives 20 boon duration, I’m not getting 200 stats and 20 boon duration. I’m getting 20 points into the virtue tree worth of boon duration. These are two very distinctly different things.

Also there is nothing permanent about food. At all.

That being said I believe that some food is completely imbalanced compared to other food and that some food is too good in general, such as the -40% condition duration food as well as few other egregious offenders.

I’m tired of all those l2p and “ozmg it’s the most difficult content ever” topics. Tequatl is NOT difficult, nor challenging content, the only challenge is, well, logistics. Those who beat this boss, beat it not because they are good at the game, they beat it, because they have access to a large pool of human resources – big guilds, high pop servers and so on. It doesn’t really matter if those 100+ started playing a week ago or if they were playing for over a year, the only task that one needs to do is stand in the predefined place and spam skills, now this can’t be performed in low pop servers, because there’s not enough people and it can’t be performed with a bunch of randoms, because they usually don’t listen to anyone and everyone just scatters all around the map, making it impossible to effectively heal/buff with turrets, res and so on.

I’m not necessarily complaining about this type of content, though it’s not really my cup of tea, I’m only annoyed by “omg I beat Tequatl, I must be the best player ever now” attitude.
Solo’ing dungeons is difficult, being near the top/at top of PVP rankings is difficult, winning 1 vs 3 encounters in pvp/WvW is difficult, SAB tribunal mode is difficult, high level fractals/some dungeons can be somewhat difficult. World bosses atm are not difficult. If you’ll get enough people to stand in predefined places, you’ll beat any of them, it doesn’t require skill, just people, who are able to listen/read.

Players wouldn’t “abuse” the guesting system if this living story ‘event’ didn’t require them to.

A-Net should have forseen this. They shouldn’t have made an open world boss so hard. What they should have done was simply change the mechanics of the fight to be more engaging, while also making an instanced version similar in difficulty to the current Teq. The players are simply reacting to the system put in the game by A-Net. I don’t honestly see how you can place blame on the player base.

Actually, considering that guesting works the way it does.. he does have the right. Don’t like it? Blame A-Net.
You can’t blame players for just trying to do what it takes to down him.

You’re absolutely correct. Until the fight gets tuned so it’s doable by smaller servers smaller servers will continue to guest on bigger servers to down him. It’s the nature of the beast and you really can’t blame the players here. Are they really supposed to not do the content just because they’re on a server which can’t do it?

Trust me, I know how frustrating this is having been locked out of my main instance for days now but blaming the players is the wrong way to go about it unless they’re scumbags buying slots from squatters and abusing join to deprive queued players of slots.

Morrolan,

Worthless because they’re now taking up a slot on my character and not doing what I bought them to do. The two rings had lower overall stats, made up for by magic find. But, they removed the magic find without changing the other stats.

Blaine,

Thanks. They told us we would be compensated, and they told us that the MF would shift to account-based. Neither have occurred.

My account MF is 4%. I was well over 100% on each of several characters. I lost a LOT of value, and I don’t know how to recover it. Plus, the Pirate runes I’ve been collecting went from really valuable to complete garbage.

Couple this with the speed of updates and I’m ready to stop playing. It’s like losing an old friend, but I just can’t take this kind of crap any more. You would think they would have learned their lesson with the changes to Cantha in Winds of Change that they had to reverse. But, I don’t think they can reverse this easily.

The thing is, both ANet and the “never used MF” crowd actually have a point. They shouldn’t have to do all the killing while we who have MF do all the collecting. It’s just that ANet destroyed whole characters over night.

For only the fourth time I’ll not be getting my dailies today. I’m just so frustrated at having to rebuild all of my farming characters’ gear that I don’t have the will to fight any more. Maybe the young guys can pull it off, but I don’t have it in me any more. I just want to play, not have to reinvent my account. Sad. 7+ years …

celestial items still have more stats on them than other sets, you and everyone else who are complaining about this are doing so completely without merit. If you bought celestial stuff for the paltry magic find gain, that’s your own fault

Nevertheless, the set was nerfed without compensation and we weren’t given the opportunity to swap sets even though other sets that were only altered were allowed to swap. It doesn’t matter whether someone bought the set for the MF or not. The fact of the matter is, Celestial gear is less useful today than it was yesterday, period. Maybe it’s still good, maybe it’s not, but why not give us the option to decide that for ourselves like the option people with Traveler and Explorer gear were given?

Of all the crazy things we’ve had to put up with in this game, this takes the cake: My hard-fought-for Rings of Lunaria and Solaria have been rendered worthless. At least for the Golden Lotus I can pick SOME set of stats.

Guys, I’ve been getting sick and tired of having new content come out so often. I’m barely able to keep up, and I spend a LOT of time playing this game. But, I put up with it because it wasn’t critical to keep up.

But now, on top of the blistering pace of new material, I’m now saddled with worthless gear for which I paid a HUGE price .

The LEAST you could do is allow us to sell them back to the Laurel vendor for whatever we paid for them.

I’m getting tired of these shenanigans. If this isn’t corrected ASAP, I won’t be playing much longer. In fact, it’s going to be hard to get myself to play even today given today’s absurd changes.

I do owe you a little nod: When you announced the magic find changes ahead of the actual changes, I broke off a gem-purchase I was about to make. There was no way I wanted to spend actual dollars unless you managed to do the change equitably. There’s some $$$ I won’t be spending, so for that I thank you.

Okay, I’m always really supportive of what Arenanet as a whole have done, but I must say, the marketing/managers who made the decision to make so many events on such short time schedules really did choose poorly in my opinion. It forces the devs to have to work on new content to stay on schedule, probably instead of the backlog of improvements they’d prefer to make, and when I work long hours myself, including on weekends for the past 4 months, makes it hard to get in enough time to join in any of the living story content. And I REALLY want to.
Not a lot that can be done now, but I agree with at least that observation.

Tanks/Bruisers Left Behind?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Draehl.2681

Draehl.2681

I won’t be (too) longwinded here, but I feel the design philosophy and balance of the game clearly favors building glass cannon, doing high amounts of damage, and/or evading attacks. Aside from some niche Spvp bunker builds this is very much consistent across the entire game.

Dungeons/Champions? Build zerker and kill faster. You dodge/evade/block the big attacks. As a Soldier geared Necro with protection and full LF bar you want to eat the hit? Sorry, instant death. Liandri sends her regards. All that lifesteal, hitpoints, regen, toughness in the world can’t help you vs a one hit KO. Okay, so I can’t eat those large hits? Why don’t we instead blind/weaken/crowd control that boss? Nope, sorry. Defiant/Unshakable is having none of that. It would be one thing if evaders were forced to tank now and again, but how common is that compared to the plethora of one hit kill scenarios? Again. Build zerker and kill faster.

Open World? Nothing is dangerous enough to warrant defensive stats, conditions, boons, etc.

WvW? I find it ridiculous that a particular Thief build can do more damage while simultaneously taking less damage than their target and players around them. Be it over a short or extended period of time. Should they run into a less than favorable situation, be it a bad small group matchup, run into a zerg, etc. Just evade, disappear, and utilize great mobility to simply avoid the situation. A bruiser style warrior comes upon the same scenario? You have to fight it out and just die. No recourse.

Overall I just feel that pure tanks, bruisers, sustained damage types, etc. have a much lower value compared to the available spike damage/evasion options out there. The only legitimate argument I can see for this reasoning is they require a higher skill cap. I do agree in most cases that they do, but this need not be set in stone. If more effort were made towards increasing the skill cap while simultaneously improving the effectiveness of other builds this disparity would begin to fade.

Twitchy assassin/berserker type play need not be the only skillful endeavor available. Let us wade into battle and whittle down our foes should we see fit to do so. Let us stack healing power to assist allies. Why do all these others options even exist if this were not intended to be viable?

The Real Problem is Time

in Tequatl Rising

Posted by: Tken.1986

Tken.1986

The new Tequatl is on a whole new level compare to the other World Bosses.
Let’s assume that the other World Bosses are at a difficulty of level 1 to 3 while Tequatl is at level 10. At this point, things are still okay.
Then there’s Time Limit:
Every World Bosses now have a 15 minutes time limit until the event fail. Different bosses have different encounter with different base difficulty (include HP) to scale with. Apparently, we are expected to do level 10 content like level 1 to 3 content. Which is given only 15 minutes to do the event. To be honest, I would’ve really enjoy this event even if it has to take a good long 1 to 2 hours.
Who ever thought of this idea needs to think harder. In the long run, people rarely bothers with this event anymore. This will have a 99.9% chance being turn into Karka Queen Ver. 2. I am pretty sure if this event becomes like the permanent invasion event, I won’t bother because chance of winning ain’t gonna happen.
Time itself can be the issue:
There’s certain peak time for high, and low player population. This makes chance of winning even lower.
And there are other problems such as Overflows:
Being put into overflow pretty much determines that its going to fail.

I’m not saying time limit is all bad, but on this difficulty with the amount of time given is completely unreasonable.
However, the requirement for high player population is absolutely horrible.

Of course not. Teq doesn’t seem to be designed to be an enjoyable playing experience. Just consider this a part of a “challenge” – one more thing beyond your ability to control that can make you fail the event.
