Am I The Only One Here…
No you aren’t. No one ever is. And every time someone posts a thread with a nondescript title like yours, god kills a kitten.

I really hope this doesn’t mean ranger pets will be insta downed by all the dodge or die mechanics that were in Aetherblade Retreat…
I think A-net should have Traehearne corrupted, so we can kill him off.
Is F/U getting fixed???
I’m really curious to know if the entire dungeon is getting updated (like AC was) or is the new path the only thing happening in this update?
(edited by Azjenco.9425)
Or that ANet is desperately trying to wrap completely random ideas together with a poorly written supervillain.
The fact is, if they just read what they’ve done themselves carefully, they can do the “this was our plan all along” thing as long as they want to, without us ever knowing about it.
But rest assured, if they slip, someone will see it and they will be caught red-handed.
I came here to argue against as I do not like Scarlet much. But then after reading the comments I realised we do not actually have a good villain yet. Unless, does Mad King Thorn count?
that will be a nerf. we always get nerfs
That’s how people recognized the leaked patch notes had to be real. True story!
So you ran in circles and used range attacks? How many other classes can do that?
Also, front lines…you are telling us the pet never went down?
— snip —
No. People have been wanting pets gone since they first started rolling rangers. From day one. Which is not the Guild Wars 2 ranger. It may have been option in GW1, but this is not GW1.
Yes, there has been little visible effort on fixing the pet. I feel that a great deal of that stems from the fact that up until recently it has seemed that all game balance was done around PvP and PvP only. And in PvP, the pet AI is not the hinderance that it is in WvW and PvE.
Now that it seems that some care is actually being made to balance the game outside of PvP, we should start seeing more changes and improvements. Especially to the pet.

A.I. code is actually really hard to write. Its the most complex code that can be written. A.I. is also extremely CPU heavy with many condition statements. A.I. in games like Final Fantasy Reborn are not ordinary and have been developed over years (not talking 1 or 2 years I am talking 10-20 years of development). Also have to consider game mechanics such as stealth and porting that would drastically effect A.I. performance since you would have to find all possible conditions and solutions to each.
I can honestly say I could make an A.I. for GW2 that would be hard to beat but at the same time hardly any computer would be able to run it due to the complexity. A good A.I. would have to know literally every skill in the game and know when you used it last so that it can estimate the time necessary. GW2 game engine can not handle such aspects. Very few game engines can.
Witcher 2 REDengine is so far the only engine I know of that allows advanced A.I. that is capable of learning and countering. REDengine 3 engine will be a vast improvement, but it still isn’t beyond a zerg mentality.
In all games I have played each A.I. has weaknesses that are extremely easy to counter. GW2 A.I. is actually decent for all the mechanics needed to be countered by the A.I.
If you guys want to know something pathing is an NP-Hard to NP-Complete problem in computer science. If you don’t know what those stands for look it up lol. In this case the A.I. pathing you guys are wanting are NP-complete problem. On a game of this scale it would be extremely hard.
I am not saying their algorithms for pathing are perfect for the problem (they could be optimized more I bet but i can’t see the pathing code so i don’t know)
[GWAM] and [LUST]
Mess with the best, die like the rest.
It’s a power weapon for a class that really doesn’t have a power option to play.
Rapid Fire is a DPS loss if used at max range. You should use it at close range instead of auto attack. The auto attack shot is probably the weakest attack in the entire game at minimum range (never checked, just a gut feeling). The AE is very poor considering how dependent this class is on mobility and kiting and it roots you and only snares the enemy. Since it hits multiple times it can also be an issue with retaliation, but that’s a large problem in WvW and not sPvP. The knockback and stealth are the utility skills to help assist with kiting and staying at range. They’re very poor options given how common stability is and how short the stealth is.
It’s primarily a support weapon in sPvP IMO but it only pairs well with greatsword, which is another support weapon. A lot of the other weapons are more condition oriented.
It’s a shame this class doesn’t have a weapon swap cooldown trait as that would really help a lot with the longbow/greatsword builds.
You’re pretty much listing everything that is wrong with this open world event…
IOW, manipulate game mechanics and you might get lucky.
HARDCORE!
Power is not what makes a character interesting, character is.
I agree, you need more than just power, you need motives, mystery, a struggle, a weakness, faults, strengths… and so much more.
So far they haven’t given us much. She rejects the Pale Tree – why? why her and not countless others before her.
When, where and how did she amass such an army? did she recruit them in another land off the current playable area?
Who did she contact in the flame legion and dredge? did she just turn up and they all suddenly agreed to follow her plan? Is she the quick talking city person the dredge prisoner talked about?
So she rejects the pale tree, why suddenly go on an all out attack on tyria? especially why the human race?
We know she is a genius but why does her personality not reflect that, she seems crazy and immature.
I really hope Anet know how to wrap up a story.

I don’t wanna be a living-in-the-past cliche` here, but let me do a little name droppin:

Most of these were very unique characters doing interesting, or mysterious but SPECIFIC and very Nefarious things that justified the title villain…. And most of them had a very profound impact on what the world is 250 year later.

So he’s the hardest because you have to get into your home server?
Before the GJ, you might want to read the forums. Teq is the opposite of success in creating a vibrant, living world in open world PvE.
Brings people together? by guesting onto servers and sitting in overflows whilst trolls sit AFK on turrets.
If you analyze Teq, the fight itself is far from hard.
This sentence can be said of any MMO encounter after one learns the mechanics (or meets the minimum gear requirements often imposed). That is the nature of the beast. Something is challenging to people at first, then they learn it. I do think the volumes of dead people in poison pools or after Tequatl’s wave attacks hit belie your claim that “we” have learned these things. Some people have and some people have not.
Some ways to present new challenge is to add a form of scaling that occurs when the server succeeds at the encounter, or improved AI that learns players behavior and adapts. No MMO does this as far as I know.
I agree the timer adds challenge, but it is a uninspiring form of challenge that amounts to a DPS/skill check against the mechanics. It’s a skill check in that those who have the skills to jump waves, learn his telegraphs, and clear/avoid poison pools should be up to DPS him.
So for days we’ve been talking about Teq fight, what’s wrong with it and how it could be fixed/adjusted, and discussing how the current problems with the game has a negative impact on the community, mostly the overflow system and condition damage.
To that we got no single comment by Anet.
Regarding the availability of a couple minipets we get an answer within a day.
I do like minipets but i think you should get your priorities checked…
We did F/U by having one person with good passive heals (my evasion/signet of malice thief in this case) solo melee the tree while everyone else stayed near the mouth of the cave and kept the number of spiders on me managable It was tough but not impossible. We were informed in this because we used basically the same plan when dealing with graveling zergs in AC (I tanked certain graveling mounds, or the zerg at the spike traps section to keep the enemy from overwhelming the group) Just took us a few tries to see the respawn mechanics and learn to focus spiders and blast the tree occasionally.
After the second wipe we developed our plan and it worked fine. Why do people complain about this path so much? I feel like often There’s a “role assignment” option avaliable in most dungeons, but the problem is that nobody ever builds for any role but glassy DPS. This is kinda the fault of the encounter design in that CC and sustain are just generally not useful for dungeon groups because straight damage is enough to walk through the majority of encounters. You can generally pull, ball, and AoE most groups.
Heck, the reason people don’t generally run CM is because the encounters for the most part don’t fit this mold (and also it’s FULL of traps) and is one of the few places in the game where good CC and some tankability are often better than just another zerker for the health of the group.

This is probably one of my major issues with GW2. Basically, you are being dragged through the story and have absolutely no impact on how it plays out.
Twilight Sparkle?
Considering who they have as her VA. We had a pretty good laugh about it, so I thought I’d share.
How far can players take it? How can we organize events that requrie huge amounts of players with these non-existent tools the game has, you know, parties of five, whisper from player to player… what else? Overflows and inability to control which one you end up in, overflows that end up in more overflows and more overflows.
Like a fractal that never ends. An infinite overflow.
Your implementation is TERRIBLE. You want us to participate in this type of content yet provide zero tools to manage it? Obviously arenanet has major problems in their design departments to overlook such obvious gamebreaking flaws. It is sad to see anyone supporting this type of a kitten product.
I’m pretty sure this is experimental content.
Silly bookah.
The entire game is a test.
Thought everyone knew that.
