Speculation on new weapons for professions

I don’t know what else it could be? rifles and pistols seem like a strange weapon for a reverent. Maybe it’s just me. Who knows they have a ranged hammer, Maybe you dual weild melee pistols? Just pistol whipping people.

You people honestly think some professions will get 5 new skills through a two-handed weapon and others will get only 2 new skills, through an off-hand?

I ABSOLUTELY expect that to happen, because despite people’s obsession with one tiny facet of the Specialization package, trying to produce perfect symmetry for the sake of perfect symmetry would lock them into too rigid of a model.

I don’t think there will be 5 new skills for everyone and I have no idea why. The same way I have no idea why a offhand torch takes a vision crystal the same as a great sword but only has half the stats.

I like the idea of 5 skills for everyone which could still be a possibility (maybe you specialize and you can use a sheildd and sword and get new skills for your sword)

I get that it’s lots of work but it just doest feel like your toon specialized in anything because now he welds a torch in his off hand. If your that special with a torch let’s see you weild That beauty with your main hand.

Weather the effects are good or not are completely OP based, you might not like some of the effects, but others might like it.

Which is why I just said which I liked and why.

I was hoping to get some other idea that would be cool to separate legendarY’s from the other just cool skins in the game.

Does revealing the release date kill hype?

In theory, yes. In practise…not always, but sometimes.

The idea is, we know there will be a decreased amount of content coming into GW2 in the time between LS2 and HoT, so if players know the release date, they can easily think “Well, im gonna take a break until HoT comes, because im not missing anything.” but if they don’t know the release date, they will stay around to see what information comes up.

I personally, am sticking around anyway, to prepare my account for HoT. Clean out the bank for all those new items, get all my characters into ascended gear, ready to receive those juicy new skins, and maybe find a guild, if I can find something stable.

These are good points. To be honest I actually stopped logging in for anything but dailys. I feel like gw2 has be stale for a long time now. I’m having trouble finding anything to do. I have the mats made up for 2 legendarY’s. I’m thinking about turning over some mats to make the time gated stuff for an ascended set. I’ve been holding off in case the zerker meta ended and now because I main switch mains with the specializations coming out.

Back to your original points though, I guess the safe bet is that it will kill most people’s hype. I never understood the unknown release date. within a month should be doable in any industry.

What’s left? I like that the juggernaut gives you mercury colored armor. Maybe some more that alter you appearance?
I dislike the effects of the great swords. Kinda plain and very distracting in combat.
I think the ability to color some aspects of your weapon would be a nice addition to legendarY’s.
I did a fractal pug with a person and his legendary spear. I liked the shark attack animation. It wasn’t too distracting cause it was kinda faint and translucent unlike the greatsword.
The best idea I’ve heard so far is a legendary bow that shoots Bears lol. That would be funny and still cooler than the quip. What a disgrace that thing is.

Since you can swap specialisations anytime you like outside of combat having specialisation specific armour might be inconvenient since you’d most likely automatically un-equip them. Still it would be nice.

That’s not really what I ment… sorry my writing skills are lacking. I mean you get an item like how you choose a hood or mask when you select a theif or mesmer. Probably no choice though but an unique piece all the same.

we already have 3 datamined blindfolds, so they’ll probably be the options.

also, “see no evil hear no evil speak no evil” is about turning a blind eye (ba-dum tsh) on bad things, whereas the revenant seems to be more a case of “true sight” (going by rits and the awfully common trope of blind people being practically demigods that didn’t need eyes anyway)

Sounds to me you want ffiv system of all classes on 1 toon for 400 gems.
Sorry bud pony up buy the last 4 slots you need to have 1 of each class and level them up.

That’s entirely wrong.

I’m thinking of a lore appropriate way to introduce the Revenant, as well as a way to SWITCH classes on a character, not possess all of them at once on one toon.

For guys like you and me it makes sense (I have 2 level 80 Guards and 2 Level 80 warriors) and I would happily sacrifice one to make a Reverent. However, What if you didn’t have a spare level 80 Armor Class? Could a elementalist forget how to use Fire magic and his soul bound armor is useless? Does this trial he goes though mean he has to be level 80? or 20? or 65? people are going to be very upset if you can become a lvel 80 reverent first day fully geared and they go through a little weak story like level one is now where your a weakling with a wooden sword who cant die?

I feel it’s the most logical to swap a heavy armor class into a reverent but it would super unfair to almost everyone.

Here’s is a ridiculous solution… Time Travel. Think Trunks coming back to help out Vageta and Goku. Problem solved.

Has anything leaked regarding all classes getting 5 new weapon skills ( as in a MH and OH or 2 handed)?

Nothing of that nature has leaked because that’s not how it’s going to work.

How about whether or not we have to use the new weapon with the specialization? How does that look with weapon swap.

Of course not. So the weapon swap problem will never happen.

It would be cool to have traits swap when weapons swap. Maybe make some more room for creativity in builds? Maybe that’s too much. What do you guys think?

I think that’d be an entirely new system 100% unrelated to specialization and a lot of work just to let a few players be more powerful while confusing the heck out of the rest of the players. People already have enough trouble with slotting utilities for their underwater mode.

Do we know how that’s going to Work? Any links? I’m very curious. So we Can use a new weapon with the old Builds? or only visa versa? will we see Condition Survival “Druid’s” with LB and axe/dagger, But with a druid elite skill and nothing else? Sounds Boring now that I think about it.

I hadn’t thought too hard about the personal story but this is an interesting point. They must have a very different personal story to make any sense. If Rytlock is the first reverent and his powers have awoke sometime during season 2 after the defeat of zhaitan… how could you create a new character and have him be a Reverent.

The personal story must be new and probably weirdly short. Are the NPC’s going to think this level 2 dummy (with nothing but auto attack) is the commander who defeated zhaitan?

New weapons for heart of thorns expansion

I don’t want to kill the brainstorming….. but, there are no new weapon types being added in Heart of Thorns. Though, specializations will allow professions to use existing weapon types which they currently cannot use.

I think it’s worth clearing up the “Spears as land weapons” discussion for a few reasons. “No new weapon types” wouldn’t technically eliminate land spears on a class. Also, in the trailer at the end of S2, a Sylvari impales someone on a spear, on land. It’s gonna stink for players hoping to get land spears and they wouldn’t be wrong to get excited for them after seeing the reasons I left above. If you don’t comment, I will figure land spears will be a thing that you guys want to surprise us with. If you do comment, I will figure it’s to dispel the land spear myth, which would be a good thing. No one wants to get hyped about something that isn’t making its way into the game.

sorry, but saying “silence means you agree with me” to ANet is a recipe for disappointment.

This is a true statement about anet and their radio silence. I am becoming more and more excited to see who will be right about HOT; the naysayers or the optimists.

on topic though… I was checking out weapon and armor sets for a reverent and I am more and more saddened by the thought of using staves as melee and not spears. Almost none of the staves look cool as a melee weapon and all of the spears look sweet (eexcept the legendary spear for some reason… it kinda looks more like a spear gun or something). Preview the arah dungeon spear. You can’t tell me all your melee staff dreams dont come true. Then equip the legend and feel your dreams snap in half. Not unlike how that glassy green ball would snap from the staff after you whacked someone with it.

Right now I’m setting the bar pretty low so as to avoid dissapointed. I’m fully expecting some classes to get new awesome 2 handed weapons (Necro with GS!) aand other classes to get really weak off handed weapons (offhand torch warrior)

I think a necro who channels evil spirits or demons and they protect him, get some reflects and re gen type skills. Maybe call it a ritualist or Demoner (think deviner antonym)

I’m not sure what to expect out of an expansion but I would like to see some unique additions to the character creation design

Besides the obvious additions to existing options such as hair or faces (I think these will be added judging by the fact we havent received new styles in a long while)

In addition to this I would like to see an additional accessory type. Like beards for slyvari or scars for charr; something along these lines would be cool.

What do you guys think? Asking too much? What else would you like to see. I know lots of people would like to see fat bodies. Name some more.

Plus… change accessory colors in dye screen.

I’m not sure what you’re trying to imply.. that you think this means focuses will somehow become melee weapons, I’m guessing? Unfortunately like 90% of focus skins in the game still look unsuitable for melee combat. :/ I mean, maybe it can work if they limit what skins you can put on your melee-focus?

I have said the same thing about staves since the trailer. I just thought the way the focus is designed looked suspicious.

I actually like most of these skins. I just wish I new the weapons for the Reverent. My second warrior is a charr that will be remade into a reverent and the weapons fit his look completely. I almost bought the sheild just because I really liked the look on dulfys page but when I previewed it on my charr is was embarrassingly small. I guess I’ll just shell out the big bucks when I find out more on the Reverent.

Norn in a Skritt costume, that would be one huge and scary looking Skritt! I like it actually, but it would have to be in the form of a costume like Mad King Thorn’s or something the like. If it worked like a tonic (changing your stature) then I’d be rather annoyed.

This is a costume I’d buy if done as an actual costume.

I God no!
Ud become the size of the race lol

If that was the case, then no. At that point it is no longer a costume, but a tonic. So what you really want is a tonic that you can fight while using (similar to the watchwork knight tonic). Frankly I’d love a costume version (you know, clothes that your toon wheres to pretend to be of that race). Think of an cute little Asura in a Kodan costume, or my Norn in a Skritt costume

I think this would be a very popular idea for outfits. Not for me but I could see a lot of people going for it. A hylec costume would look like the super Mario 3 frog suit.

They are really just trying to get paid for putting out a good product and are stuck with a policy of no subscription. I think if this game came out right now the people in charge would put a subscription on it for sure. This is a just a new way to get subscription money, who knows maybe they are being greedy but I doubt it. I think they should get good money for this game.

Unfortunetly though I’m trying out other games now. I’m sure the living story stuff is for some people, but not for me. This is what gw2 is now and people have to honestly ask themselves if the guild wars franchise is for them anymore. For most of people I’m sure it still is, but I don’t see this game bringing anything to the table that I’m interested in for the foreseeable future. First time MMORPG Player and...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

A OK.8276

I’m loving GW2! I started playing a couple months after launch and it has been a perfect fit for my tastes. As a PvE’er I actually enjoyed the break in the LS and getting into PvP.

Since season 2 has taken a little long to get started I decided to try another MMO… Wildstar. I play quite a few hours a week so I thought I would split my time between a couple games like I did with RPG’s. I couldn’t believe how much better I found GW2. Graphics, gameplay, story, NPC’s acting… Basically everything I cared about. There were a couple things done in that game that made sense but definitely not worth the money, I’ll stick with GW2.

That being said I do really hope GW2 starts to add a few things beyond the LS. I would pay the price of a new game every year if there was more content added to the story by way of races, professions, trades and weapons (not skins, weapons. Like… Brass knuckles or pikes or 2 handed battle axes)

I don’t mind paying the money for things like that because I don’t spend any money on games anymore… GW2 has managed to keep me entertained enough. But I’m not sure how much longer players like myself will stay entertained with a living story.

Keep up the good work.

Ps. Here’s some suggestions for the additions:

Race- Tengu (obviously) and don’t tell me it will be hard to add this race. They are basically re skinned Charrs. Armours are kinda hard to find on Charrs and I don’t think beaks will help any haha.

Profession- Sereant, heavy armor, cc, no greatsword and condition cleanses for parties. Less health than warriors, fewer weapon choices. I was thinking a profession mechanic that takes away from other players profession mechanics, initiative, adrenaline, virtues on cool down… Etc. could be cool in PvP or WvW.

You get the idea!
