I like It. I would pay 1400 gems if it wasn’t an outfit. I just don’t like outfits. I’ve bought 1 and hated the lack or customization. Good style though.

I’d pay 2800 to have my old mix-n-match pieces turned ‘into’ an outfit (more if they’d bring non-outfit pieces back).

Yeah isn’t that funny. You are either way in favor of outfits or don’t like them at all. I suppose it’s nice if you want heavy armor on a light or visa versa (oor versa visa).

Correct me if I’m wrong but most of the time People like outfits so their light or heavy armor classes can wear the opposite armor skins? In my perfect world we could wear any armor with any class and we would have no outfits. The base stats and skills is enough to differentiate profession who can fill any role.

The fact is
in chinese GW2

25 gem = 1 RMB
5298 gem = 211.92 RMB

the rate right now is

1 dollar = 6.26 rmb

211.92 rmb = 33.85 dollars

black wing in china =5298 gem = 211.92 RMB = 33.85 dollars

Interesting. I’m hoping some know it all can confirm or disprove this Just for my own knowledge.

Remedial questions about streaming client

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: A OK.8276

A OK.8276

I’m kinda new to computer gaming (tthe first game I bought was gw2 at launch and I have only tied a few others since) and I have a couple questions about the streaming client.

Firstly, is the intention to get rid of loading screens? To be honest, the loading screens are so short I hardly notice them so I’m not sure if this is what the streaming client is for. Is it for the new builds? Even The feature patches only take a minute or two to download. I’m assuming it’s a nice improvement to gameplay but could it be for people with sketchy Internet connection?

Secondly, if I wanted to try it could I expect my data usage to go up? Would it affect ofher processes like streaming music or movies?

Thanks in advance experts.

I would disagree with your assessment that encouraging mixed groups to do things optimally is “solving a non-existent problem.” The problem exists, whether you want to believe it or not. That’s why threads like this keep popping up in the first place. What you are saying is “because someone doesn’t like the Zerker playstyle, they can’t feel wanted.” They may actually be a better player than you, but because they don’t conform to your view, they are inferior.

You have yet to show why it is a problem. You just asserted it.

And I’ve never stated “because someone doesn’t like zerker playstyle, they can’t feel wanted”. I don’t even know where you came up with that.

The point is simple. Right now every build is VIABLE in pve, but only specific builds are OPTIMAL.

What you want to do is to make it mandatory to have different OPTIMAL builds for different content.

This results in no change for those players who want to just be viable with their soldiers , condi, or mix-match gear because they will still be going to dungeons and other battles with them regardless.

However this will result in the OPTIMAL players now having to swap characters/gear prior to different encounters, which is a net increase in tedium and frustration with no tangible benefit.

A simple benefit analysis shows your argued changes will lead to a net decrease in fun and no real benefit.

2 Things… firstly, as a disclaimer, I really like playing Zerker. If there were options in pve I’d probably still choose zerker for all my toons. Secondly, if conditions stacking was fixed in pve they could be equally viable in PVE. Although I’m not sure how they work I’d love to see how this simple benefit analysis… sounds like a first year project management chapter.

New weapons for heart of thorns expansion

A OK.8276

I don’t want to kill the brainstorming….. but, there are no new weapon types being added in Heart of Thorns. Though, specializations will allow professions to use existing weapon types which they currently cannot use.

No new weapons? Oh so disappointing
Thanks god a new game called Black desert is near…and when it will be out…I suggest you for gw2 sake to add more things and weapons ^^
Regards
A disappointed player

Just make sure to hand off all your stuff to other players so it doesn’t go to waste.

Are you not locked to a single weapon set in Black Desert? I could never get into any of those Korean type games. I felt as though there were no real choices to be had in weapons… kinda some choices with skins… but not really.

Back to OP. I know a lot of people want 2 handed axes for whatever reason, which is fine with me but a lot of people question what role a weapon like that would fill that either a hammer or great sword doesn’t already fill. I also hear people complain that there are too many great sword users in the game. What if moving forward whenever a profession get a new specialization which would be a fit for a great sword or hammer they gave them a great axe instead? Win/Win? Also you don’t have to go back and make up a bunch of axe skins for previous weapon sets. you could be choosy and just make new skins for craft able or racial sets.

ps. I could care less about axe skins or monk gloves or bow staffs or cross bows or bear bows. I just think maybe there is some sense in adding new weapons. Plus I’m a child of divorce and try please everyone and stop any and all fight

I have a feeling we will get a new set of 4 utilities like how each profession has signets or glamor or meditations, 1 elite 1 heal and a weapon that when swapped to you have an altered profession skills f1 to f4 sort of thing. I’m holding my breath that the new weapon will be either a 2 handed or a 1 hand mixed with an already available weapon witch give the profession 5 new skills ( Ex. Mesmer switches to offhand sheild and main hand sword only, uses 5 new chronomancer weapon skills and profession mechanic). Maybe a rework to Old traits, maybe a new trait line. Who knows.

I have a question about engineer “end game” that coincides with this topic. I am currently leveling an engineer (around level 60 now). Fully geared at 80 do we have any builds that have a ton of burst damage that are comparable to other professions? We seem to fill the support role from what I can tell. A demolistionist seems like it would give us the option to have burst damage.

As it happens my engineer is also level 60. But I don’t need to be level 80 to tell you they can dish out buttloads of damage.

Equip a bomb kit. I’ve not spent as much time with it but the tool kit is also good. As a general rule melee damage > ranged (to balance the associated risk of being hit back). Plus, I think the bomb kit gets a bit more damage because its effect is delayed, theoretically allowing your opponent to escape being damaged. Though in PvE mobs are too stupid to move so…. enjoy

And if you want to get tricky, take a look at the wiki for combo info. Engineers have lots of fields and finishers.

No profession is really a support profession. They’ve all got various weapon and utility skills which cater to that. They can all also focus just on damage.

I played engineer from launch and ran pretty much a granades/ static discharge mix the whole time (I’d swap out some utility’s here and there but always the same idea with pure zerker gear). If you like burst I’d recommend static discharge with a rifle. You can catch other players of guard and pound them pretty good. I swap out some utilities and I’m off to fractals 50.

I dispute your proposition. In my experience pink rings drop FAR more often than exotics.

But I guess the people who can actually query the database are the only ones who know for sure and we see their answer in game, every day.

I haven’t really thought about the comparison before. I would be very interested to see where the ascended rings would land on the open market. I seem to get exotic items a fair amount while running around. I’d say I get one every other time I log in. I get an ascended ring that often as well but I always run through a level 40+ fractal when I log.

I think it would be funny if they had a mawdry type fractal item that gave you a gift of the mists. Although those gifts from mawdry 2 and star thing are subject to terrible loot tables.

I really be happy if they give you a chance at some ascended mats. Like an ingot or dark matter or something.

can they? ‘cause i thought they could, then i looked up on the wiki and there’s no reference of it, so i figured it was scrapped.

I dont know where it was, but this is definitely a thing.

At least some rocks somewhere in tyria can be picked up and used for a special fire spell as an elementalist

edit: nvm, found it:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Boulder

only on guild wars, there’s a separate wiki page on rocks and boulders, and the two have different info.

Incorrect. My ele picks up rocks and turns them into meteors all the time in GW2. It acts just like the spell from GW.

…that’s my point.

there’s a page on the wiki called “rock”, and it shows the “rock” environmental weapon, but no mention of the elementalist skill.

then there’s a page called “boulder”, and shows literally the same environmental weapon, except this time it has the freaking elementalist tooltip.

i’m criticizing the wiki having multiple pages on something this trivial, and the pages not even having the same information.

You said you thought it was scrapped…

Rock is an item you buy, I believe. Boulders are the ones lying around. So I guess technically you pick up rocks called boulders. Small boulders…

Aren’t those cobbles?

WARRIORS, lets FINALLY fix useless traits

in Warrior

Posted by: A OK.8276

I too would like to see some traits tweaked to keep up with the changes to all the profession and game improvement/balancing. some traits are weirdly unuseful and maybe they should be scrapped. But a lot of them are not used because you really would have to sacrifice too much to get that situational trait.

My dream would be to have traits swap with weapons. I think you could get a lot more variety or builds and see a lot more of the situational traits finding their way into a setup. this idea has been shot down but I like the idea of being able to maximize each weapon set for offense or cc or defense and really mix up teams.

Inventor would be just a fitting Specilization, if it would be sure, that the Engineer Specialization that we will receive first will be based on the Inventions Trait Line.

Inventor would be same as much a good fitting name, as like for examle Alchemist would be fitting simply, if we would get an engineer specialization, thats specialized on Alchemy….

That people always need to have “cool” names … Seriously, first tell us what defines for you a “cool” name, because “cool” is just different for everybody and just totally a matter of personal taste.

What A finds so very cool, must long not be cool at all for B and vice versa
Class Names just have to be fitting to the Design of the Class, the Them and Style and must give the Class the feeling, that the name well rounds up the overall gameplay of the Clas, so that the end result comes over as trustworthy as possible, becaue if a Class Design isn’t trustworthy with a fitting name, then the result easily can become just immersion breaking for many people.

Thats also the reason, why that “Revenant” may have gotten for sure so much backlash for its unfitting name.

In regard of the topic, Names that would fit to what we have seen from the Trailer, my personal guess that I would accept as fitting names are:

  • Inventor
  • Technician
  • Machinist (but i doubt it that it will be this, cause FF14 has been announced to get a class with that name with their first expansion Heavensward)
  • Mechanist
  • Pioneer
  • Vandal (much better, than Demolitionist)
  • Saboteur (but I rather would, like to see that for a Thief Specialization one day, but it would kind of fit to the Engineer too)

That are the only strong an meaningful names, that I can think of and would accept as specialization names for the Engineer

My personal bet is, it will be something of those 3:

  • Saboteur
  • Pioneer
  • Mechanist

I do like saboteur but I think your right, kinda sounds like it would fit another profession better. I don’t quite understand pioneer but it doesn’t sound bad. I like mechanist a lot, exactly like a robotics specialist, not as smooth sounding as Machinist to me but a better fit. Very nice.

If ANet has proved anything it is that no one understands how they think and that no one can accurate predict how they’ll implement anything.

Whatever they call it, it won’t be Inventor.

I heard people predict both the Reverent and Druid for names of new classes…

And I’ve heard many many names too. That’s no a consensus. People wanted Druid because it was a thing in GW1, but would they have expected it as a spec on Ranger? Could people have actually named the Revenant for the class we got, or would they have put it on the Necro spec?

Having thrown out a series of names isn’t really relevant. Inventor is a terrible name and ANet will ultimately do something else, because they always do.

If you were a profession your name would be Buzz Kill. Your mechanic would be removing all of the belchers bluffs, bobble head labs and box’s of fun off the maps. Your elite would be boring the opposite sex to sleep.

What in the world are you talking about dude? Did I steal your thunder somehow by saying that your fears are unfounded because the thing you don’t want to happen won’t come to pass? Get a grip.

That engineering disciplines thing is really nice idea too but it wouldn’t work because the base proffessions aren’t seen as precursors but a specialisation itself (you lose something for everything you gain when choosing a specialisation).

I have been trying to come up with a cool name before making this post but I’m a lost cause. I fear I’m not creative enough. Here’s what I have so far.

I was also thinking that for specializations they could mirror engineering disciplines. Like mechanical or civil or bio. That sort of thing.

Speculation on new weapons for professions

In the developpers’ point of view, a 1 handed weapon means more skills to create than a 2 handed one, since you also have to think about the number 3 skill (which depends on both main-hand and off-hand weapons).
Then again, I wish all the weapon skills will be tweaked with specializations so we don’t really feel let down if we don’t like the new weapons (even if it’s just new visual effects)

I could be wrong but that only happens for Thief right now last time I checked.

I think the biggest speculation for the Guard Spec is Longbow, and I do /not/ want that at all. There’s this part of my brain that just never sat well with heavy armoured classes using archery. A mage with a greatsword and plate armour? Sure, that’s awesome. A knight with a longbow? Nonononononon, leave that to the rogues! Give us a rifle, if you’re going to go with 2H ranged! :P

But I’m sure I’m alone in this.

I was with you man, I originally thought rifle would be cool for a guardian but a bow makes more sense to the theme. I also like the short bow to switch it up from warrior, maybe get some extra speed attack from ranged?

I’m not a fan of a torch for warrior . How does one who does not specialize in magic use a torch in battle? Maybe a Sapper with gun powder or something? Get some extra burst and cc on the warrior. OK I’m starting to like it now…. I might be on to something.

I’m hoping there is dual weild daggers in the Warriors future. Making a dagger off hand would be ok too but warriors are supposed to be weapon specialists, dual welding weapons should be a must. They may save this for the next round of specializations Which would be cool With me.

Must it be every weapon? War has duel axes, maces and swords.

Yeah make sense to me. Being good with a weapon that could be potentially a main hand weapon only in your offhand? Your not trying hard enough to be a weapon specialists.

A mage with a greatsword and plate armour? Sure, that’s awesome. A knight with a longbow? Nonononononon, leave that to the rogues! Give us a rifle, if you’re going to go with 2H ranged! :P

But I’m sure I’m alone in this.

Nah man, longbow is my last pick for Guard spec as well. OK, maybe shortbow would be even worse, and obviously any offhands would be lame, but I think they’re doing main/2h only for specs.

I think axe would probably be my top pick for Guardian. Sword in offhand would be pretty cool, too, but with other classes getting full 5-skill options, I’d expect a little more than just that.

I know everyone says we are only getting 1 weapon and if that’s a off hand it’s too bad for you, but I have a crazy idea about weapon skills.

I think to really be considered specialized you need 5 new weapon skills. That doesn’t mean new weapons though. What if you get new skills for one of your existing weapons like a mesmer sword skill will change to reflect is new specialization with your sheild.

What weapon you DONT-WANT? (Specialization)
