- Name: Abelysk
- Game mode(s): PvE, sPvP
- Role: Teacher/Tester

- Hi there! I’ve been playing GW2 for several months now, and I don’t have any alts yet – been playing with ele since the start! Although I sound fresh, I’ve amassed quite the knowledge around builds. I use a Scepter/Focus Fresh Air build in sPvP, and have even started 1v1 duels against other players (although I admit, it’s a 50/50 chance for me to lose against every player in the room). In PvE, I’m still getting around the works using a glass cannon Staff build, mainly getting pumped up for raids in the future. I’ve played with most weapon combos, with the only one I haven’t played with yet being Dagger/Focus and Dagger/Warhorn. I use Scepter/Warhorn in PvE for intense condition pressure, though I’ve traded that gear in for my current glass cannon Staff build.

As a teacher, I can offer guidance for many builds out there, though if it involves main hand Dagger, don’t ask me since I’m not a fan of it!

I can teach about every specialization type, from Fire to Tempest, in what they’re mainly used for and any niche uses they may provide to boost those obscure builds (e.g. Lightning Rod build).

I am also in love with testing builds, but this is only possible in sPvP as I am broke ingame. I don’t mind that though.

There’s a magic tool called LFG that seems to connect players from around the server. Idk, maybe give that a try.

On that note there isn’t any big incentive to complete the VB meta. In AB, TD, and DS metas, however, players do them because of their grand rewards. Auric Basin? Multiloot. Tangled Depths? Chak weapons AND Chak Egg Sac. Chak weapons take way longer to obtain than bladed armor, which is why there are more players at TD. Dragon’s Stand in general just delivers a lot of treasure and XP for masteries. Not only that, but the Noxious Pods hold lots of really expensive weapon skins one can sell on the TP.

But players DO verdant brink still. Just not as often.

Achievements. Use that as a general guide around GW2.

Although players dislike Achievements, they need to understand that achieves cover literally everything in GW2. Legendaries, Story quests, Silverwastes, Fractals, PvP, WvW, raids, HoT, exploration, collections, just about everything in GW2.

It’s very difficult to play ele, with the only really viable build right now being Fresh Air S/F. Demo ammy or Mara ammy

Uh.

No?

This applies for PvP only, sorry if I was unclear.

Scepter for lightning strike / dragon tooth and phoenix / water trident / hurl, focus for protection / condi cleanse.

For PvE it’s a whole different story. Staff rules with a Tempest build.

Abelisk.4527

I’ve had Ele experience in PvP for about over a month by now after the patch. Only 1 out of 100 players will be able to play like a god with it. What I nean by that is winning at least 70% of all 1v1 battles you encounter.

It’s very difficult to play ele, with the only really viable build right now being Fresh Air S/F. Demo ammy or Mara ammy, though Demo ammy is obviously easier to heal with. Have water/arcane/air specs, with water on 1/1/3, arcane on 2/2/1 or 2/3/1, air on 2/2/2 or 2/3/2.

Because water has a trait that charges cantrips faster, make your utilities cantrip-based: Lightning Flash, Armor of Earth, Cleansing Fire.

Cleansing Fire, Magnetic Aura, Water evasive arcana are all condi cleanse (3 condi cleanses each so 9 in total).

Cleansing fire has 32 sec recharge with water cantrip trait.

But water evasive arcana is the one you wanna look at.

Utilizing damage, condi cleanse, healing, defense, mobility, timing, and skill choice is crucial to your survival as ele in PvP with this build. It’s very MLG and the skill-ceiling is ridiculously high. If you’re a pro player use this build – you’ll love it

I personally run with Scholar’s for damage, and Sigils of Leeching/Blood for maximum healing potential. But even I am not able to efficiently squeeze out this build’s potential.

Edit: water evasive arcana only cleans off 1 condi, my bad

It’s been a whole week and there still is no sign of Class II rifts anywhere. I don’t think it’s time gated – might have something to do with a rift entrance pattern? Maybe we have to wait longer for Anet to set up each and every rift combo in the next stabilizer, who knows.

Fun high damage spike builds WvW?

in Elementalist

Abelisk.4527

Scepter fresh air is a very good one and does high damage in a short timeframe. I personally would do it slighly diffrent.
Main Problem is condi removal. You basically die to mesmers + warriors and somtimes necro and condie thief.

This is a version how i would do it.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vFAQJArdnMIC9Mg9XCeOAcYiFJAzNx+YzsCLgAQFs4J0CPCA-T1BFABuv/g66BSS5HfKBb4EAAwDAQf1fCAgAsz6MAWv6Vv6Vv65628m38m3sUAZuMC-w

Condi defence is extreamly low but you mitigate and bursts very hard. Against condi classes you bring them down fast or you die. you basically can take one condi burst, avoid some more hits and then die if you are condi bombed a second time and no one helps you cleansing.
This one needs training.
And be happy if they hit you with a CC early. You get superspeed + might + they are weakened + you get shock aura and heal a bit and their CC is gone for you to OL . This build does mightstacking. The arcae shield usually covers one of the first air overloads. Also lots of shock auras! When you fire rebound (usually in air) you get shock aura from surging rune and then again from rebound. This might ruin their day and your bust decides the fight before they know whats going on …
And i am not shure if leeching or blood sigil is better in such a build.
Basically 15 seconds for you then its “Their” turn, if they donĀ“t panic or are on the floor.

Just tried it in PvP – wow. Thanks

How is PvE right now?

A little OT but Dragon’s Stand always gives me goosebumps, due to the pure awesomeness and epic scale of the meta. Mordremoth’s commanders are really ferocious and really intimidating. Mouth of Mordremoth is epic. Stuff like this makes me love PvE.

Also, thank you so much for the current events content Anet!! These events are really refreshing and get players busy trying to do some cool unique event – Bloodstone events, Ley-line events, thief champs, sensor locating, and the new rift event – they’re all inspiring and great. You never know what events will pop up in the future. If anything, this is really dynamic and makes Tyria feel a lot like a living, breathing world. Living Story too.

PvE at the moment is fantastic, and it doesn’t have to involve farming. I find myself getting lots of gold by doing stuff, but NOT grinding.

I might do like 4 or 5 Vinewrath runs a week or something. Throw in Dragon Stand, Tangled Depths, Auric Basin meta. Never really found a whole lot of parties for Verdant Brink meta though.

But yeah, PvE is doing great.

Build diversity. Yes, you can have the same weapons as others, but having different traits, amulets, etc can seriously change a character. I saw a mesmer earlier who literally rekt everyone in a 1v1 room (a gm was there too) It was insane!! He said he made the build himself too

My characters look awesome.

I saw your triple effect vid with the Chak Egg effect, gotta admit that was cool.

But to get that stuff you had to do PvE or buy it with hard-earned gold.

Im pretty sure if all somebody cared about was how they look… they wouldnt have that much fun in GW2, which is not true because nearly all players play the game for PvE or PvP/WvW.

Levelling up Masteries can be done by simply getting gold on various Adventures daily, such as Wings of Gold, Drone Race, Salvage Pit, Beetle Feast, and Ley-Line Run. You get a ton of experience doing them daily.
Also psrticipate in various metas one after another. So you could do Auric Basin then Verdant Brink then Tangled Depths etc

Finding Jumping Puzzles

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Abelisk.4527

Abelisk.4527

Jumping Puzzles are called puzzles for a reason. Most of them also have indications that they are indeed puzzles. Look for subtle hints.

Like look at Troll’s Revenge in Lions Arch. You don’t really know where to go, but subtle hints (like the seagull poop or tightfits) tell you that you’re in the right place, or at least going the right way.

Or, let’s say the Conundrum Cubed in Mt. Maelstrom. I immediately knew I was in a JP when I saw the cubes.

Or that one in Timberline Falls with the blue glowy spheres.

Hidden Garden was also organized in a manner that made you want to explore.

Scavengers Chasm was also set up so that you could collect all of the energy nodes.

Point is, JPs are relatively easy to recognize. They ARENT meant for everyone to find – they are simply places meant to “guard” treasure chests – the guard being the jumping puzzle itself.

Most achievements tell you the location of the JP, except for the Under New Management and the sanctums. But those you’ll find after enough WvW traveling.

Point is, they are all able to be found. Look for hints in the achievement, such as the name corresponding to names on the map of the done you’re in. Like Morgans Leap correlates to Morgans Spiral in Caledon Forest.

We don’t need arrows pointing us where to go. If you pass a JP, you pass it. Simple as that.

I’ve also ran into lots of players who blurted out certain JP whereabouts on map chat.

The whole thing sounded minor at first, and the answer may be something as simple as finding a ley-line.

Anyway, in Bloodtide Coast, Seis suggests there is something deep, powerful and magical moving underground towards the southwest. My main said if it was Primordus, but Seis countered back in doubt.

I wonder what it is? Any thoughts?

What if there’s the off chance that Seis moves by the amount of sensors she receives? I mean, she even says she almost has all the sensors.

The fact that two staff members visited could also mean that Anet was seeing if this method of gating was more efficient than timegating, and that when players realize Seis is gated based on the sensors players obtain, the event would kick into full gear.
