Thank you so much for this new method of obtaining the map’s ascended backpack. Not only is the final backpiece absolutely awesome (a leaf aura + a glowy hemisphere) but this scavenger hunt is awesome. Reminds me of Caladbolg crafting. It’s probably gonna take about a month to get due to the Runestone daily limit but it fits with the lore better that way. So much better than farming currency to 200 of something.

Finishers and tokens for Top 250

in PvP

Abelisk.4527

Finishers:

Top 250-101 get a unique finisher

Top 100-26 get two unique finishers

Top 25-11 get three unique finishers

Top 10-4 get four unique finishers

Top 3 gets five unique finishers

Top 2 gets six unique finishers

Top player gets all seven unique finishers.

The finishers are unique to the title slot (e.g. 250-101, 100-26) not cumulative / random. That should be obvious.

The God of PvP unique finisher could be something epic, like a huge supersonic holy-ish explosion or something. Up to Anet.

Reason being is that titles just feel weak for a drive to compete over.

Special currency:

Tokens that can be used to create cool armor/weapon skins. New skins added seasonally. Keeps people excited and driven to play.

God of PvP gets 7 tokens, Top 250-101 get 1 token. The rest is in between.

We just need more incentive to play PvP right now. Why would a God of PvP compete for next season? They won’t need to. Yes it’s only one player that won’t be competing seasonally but everyone should be treated equally.

Making the ugliest looking Armors they could make. Another trench coat for medium. Why am I even surprised?

I do hope they are proud of their works cause I’m sure the majority are not. Continue to pump out ugly trench coats Anet.

Awful, just awful.

And to the minority who are ok with it, that’s just it, you’re only ok with it. You don’t actually love it. You are settling.

You might want to consider speaking for yourself. Claims that you know the contents of the thoughts of many thousands of other people are a bit odd.

Have you been around Reddit or the forumns or even the game? People on map chat say it’s ugly. People on Reddit say it’s hideous. If you like it, then fine. In fact, I’ve inly seen a few people say they like it.

Vocal minority phenomenon

It’s the same thing I notice on Tasty posts on Facebook. The recipe has, what, like 36k likes/loves/"wow"s, but as soon as you hit the comment section the top comment is some “super cultural person” who says the recipe isn’t authentic. “You call this spaghetti and meatballs? Why is there no cheese! This isn’t spaghetti and meatballs”!

On-topic, the legendary armor looks amazing. You guys haven’t seen the animations they make.

The light armor has an electric aura iirc

Do you ragret voting for solo queue?

in PvP

Posted by: Abelisk.4527

Abelisk.4527

The thing is there are 3 oddballs on a team that can make or break it. The only reason why solo vs. team queue was terrible was because when you had pugs vs. 5-man orgs the outcome would undoubtedly sway over to the orgs. Duo queue + solo queue is a lot better, but the best option would be to have solo queue (pug) vs. solo queue and party queue (5-man org) vs. party queue. Duo queue is just too clunky because of the 3 oddball team members. You can pretty much pray to RNGeesus to get your rating up.

never mind, I was just adjusting to the rotations.

I was thinking that you couldn’t fit all the skills in the CS hence why I said it doesn’t work.

As for teamfights I think it can work with Diviner’s.

EDIT: Ok so I took this build into a high-tier Ranked game and won. We were against top players and this was effective enough to survive against lots of builds.

Here’s what I used. Paladin is probably the best option for PvP.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vhAQNAseWl0nhq0YBawPNQtGLEHlZAkAL0ZFcBfW9l+plKA-TJxHABAcKA++JAQfZAx3fAA

Alright so this build is a fair bunker. With all cooldowns up you will be able to survive decently in a fight as long as all cooldowns are up. Time Warp weakens enemies attacking you while buffing yourself, and you have pretty much permanent Stab. Paladin’s toughness works well with the healing from the Restorative Mantras / Mantra of Recovery, and Mantra of Concentration is an amazing stun breaker and group Stab proc. Although the CD on MoC is 25, all the alacrity you’ll be getting reduces it realistically to about 15-20 seconds.

The best way to counter a Necromancer’s condition spam is Resistance through CS, but that might not be reliable. The proc of Mantra of Recovery however will work for condi cleansing.

So yah gg TY expandas for this amazing build. Mimic is awesome!

The problem with Dragonhunter over Virtues is that you lose a lot of group Stability / Aegis (but you do get group block), Test of Faith is too offensive of an option, Courage’s CD is increased almost by double, Spear of Justice is designed to pull enemies toward you which, although having benefits, is definitely made to deal damage. Problem with this is as a bunker you wanna be further away from enemies to have time to recover and such. Not saying it’s useless for the build but core Justice deals better bursts with sword.

Wings of Resolve is a good option, maybe even better than core Resolve, but it can be interrupted and thus wasted, having a cast time. Core Resolve is instacast. Finally, back to Courage, core Courage grants group Stab group Prot and Aegis. Note that Aegis heals yourself. The Shield of Courage blocks in front of you and for allies but the CD is too high IMO.

Now to the traits.. 1/1/1 is good but only if a) traps are better than the utilities b) you need more condi cleanse. That’s pretty much what Dragonhunter offers over Virtues. Virtues grants boons per virtue cast which aid in bunkering (Might from Justice helps w/ bursting though). Regen is decent but Courage’s boon application is almost necessary… FoF simply isn’t enough without the extra boons. Hallowed Ground is a 12-second field granting party Stab which is insane. I mean Warrs will just waste their adrenal trying to CC somebody while the field keeps everyone in company. Plus it’s a fire field. I also forgot about the Sanctuary trait that triggers at 25% HP. If you get downed you will drop a bubble on yourself which will be super annoying to enemies. If you end up surviving the 25% drop then you’ll be at an advantage.

The reason why the Symbolic build works with Dragonhunter is because it’s damage-oriented and bunkering isn’t its thing, so it just goes for the damaging.

I’ll try Rune of Speed though, mobility has been an issue.

6v6 please.

In 4v4 you’ll have MORE salt, MORE team pressure. So if you make one mistake it can be enough to tip the game over to the enemy’s side.

You’re 25% of a team. If you fail and make it 75%, the other team has 100% functionality while the other has 75%.

In a 6v6 environment there will be less team pressure. Bad players won’t cause the team to lose too badly. Instead of being 20% of a team you get to be 16.7% which is less pressure on yourself.

It makes 1-man carries less likely thus allowing for more team dynamics..

6v6 > 4v4

Although I agree, 5v5 has gotten stale. We need more modes.

Um…But with that kind of argument why not 1000 vs 1000. Competitive games should have team pressure, its what drives people to do better. Lets not forget you’re arguing for an emotional aspect of the game which cannot be attributed to just ‘team pressure’. Maybe in 6v6 you’ll have 3 groups of twos attacking every point. Then you’ll just be pressuring one duo to do well, which brings your argument back to square one.

I do hope that was sarcastic. We don’t need SPvP to get more care bears.

Um… you really want Thieves to become overpowered? They’ll decap left and right.

People will need more chores to do. Yeah sure aesthetic-wise there will be less clutter and fights will look cleaner, but in a 6v6 Thieves won’t be so game-changing any more.

Sweet, maybe i played against you :P
Just wanted to see how well its been tested. I will try this out once i get back from traveling.

My name was Johan Lïebert.

Seems like a nice base hidden gem build! The only thing I see it prone to is stunlock and, and just general mobility to move between points. Question, is this just to hold points/distract multiple foes or is this built with support in mind?

Mainly bunkering, but it has weak supporting.

I am in tier 2 of gold and I tried something like that earlier. It seems quite good at first and it is, but once enemy team sees through the lack of stab I get eaten up too quickly. Apart from merc intervention (which is also under a circumstance) there is no real on demand disengage and once you get focused even sanctuary won’t help versus condis.
But this is just a possibility, yet for me a quite frequent possibility. Still, it does its job 1v1 but for a support to be good, a competent team is also needed because 2v1 (if you have potatoes instead of teammates) you are bound to slowly die if your enemies know how to get past your defenses.
Overall it is good but only against encounters with not enough burst and low CC output.

I’m gonna theorycraft a bunker with Dragonhunter soon, but Sanctuary will need to be replaced with Fragments of Faith for best results.

Merciful Intervention, Smite Condition, Virtue of Resolve are heals that can be done while CCd, but I agree that there isn’t enough stab. Definitely one of this build’s caveats.

Edit: I just tested Hallowed Ground over Sanctuary with this build—it’s amazing. Excellent in teamfights, excellent for bunkering.

Hey all, I just found what I think is an amazing bunker build for 2017!
It has good condi cleanse, sustain, so it can hold points very well. It destroys a thief’s playstyle because in a 1v1 this build CANNOT die to most builds, making the thief’s decap a fail.

Updated edition #1

First version
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vVAQRApd8enkIC1DhdDBWDB8DhjGiCXARwIcH2tMAyrQ9lfA-TZRDQBQZ/BJcCAcwTAgglBAwBBAA

Merciful Intervention is an amazing tool to replace Contemplation of Purity since it still has the 2 condi cleanse but more than 2x healing.

Stalwart Defender (trait) can also replace Communal Defenses.

Before touching anything, just try it and see how it feels. I know Litany is controversial, but it’s simply the best option. Shelter is way too predictable and susceptible to get bursted while Litany not only heals around 6k, but it cleans 2 conditions, has a 20 cd, and synergizes with symbol aoe damage (and other damage sources). Plus it does damage too!

Sanctuary is the most important utility here. It is extremely potent because it is a huge knockback CC, has many pulses, blocks projectiles, heals, allowing you to recharge your skills and hold the point with safety. Plus it’s annoying so win-win.

Hallowed Ground can substitute Sanctuary. This is especially useful if there are classes with multiple CC sources such as Revenant, Thief, and Warrior. It also helps teamfights dramatically.

Contemplation of Purity is self-explanatory, Smite Condition is too, Renewed Focus is awesum.

Mace is very slow but the symbol is nice. Focus 5 can be used to aid Mace 2’s channel. Mace 3 is simply an amazing tool, and it does some damage as well.

Sword has a symbol so it heals. Shield has knockback / Aegis.

Aegis heals when blocked. You have multiple sources of Aegis. Symbols heal 200 every second. Two symbols heal 400 a second. Meditations are huge in HP recovery. Virtue of Resolve heals and cleanses condis.

I had great fun running this build in Ranked / hotjoins, and it can survive in most 2v1 scenarios. It can survive ALL 1v1 scenarios.

Easy way to get them is to do SAB dailies for Normal and Trib (win each map on Normal + Trib) for the Bauble Bubbles.

Each time you finish a world convert your 750+ baubles you got from each trib run into bubbles and then do the next world

I got about 2500 coins this SAB event alone which equates to about 875 gold. The more you know…

And I’m not even done yet. End result will probably end up being 3000+ coins.

KAISER SNAKE in SAB?! (how to get there)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Abelisk.4527

Abelisk.4527

You get a Glorious Chest and tons of green baubles, but no heart vessel. Level ends and you go to the cart minigame

Requirements: Glove of Wisdom, Lots of potions

How to get there:

- Go to World 1 Zone 3
- Jump on the mushroom at the beginning, and go into the hollow log
- Climb the hollow log
- Once on the hollow log go left onto the small wooden log that’s lying on the platform
- Hug the walls and there should be a flytrap – jump from the flytrap onto the platform (fairly hard jump)

This path normally leads to a digspot, right? This time we’ll make a detour. Throw bombs on the platform after the flytrap (not the one with the digspot) and hole will pop up.

- Use Glove of Wisdom to push the block in the hole back
- Climb the cliff and launch yourself from the catapult
- Climb the branch and jump onto the cliff where you can see acid

Now for the hard part. This acid path is tricky as it has a hidden jump. Constantly hop as you’re going through the maze so you don’t get as many poison ticks. At the end of the path you’ll hit a dead end but before that there is a hidden RAISED platform. You have to notice when your player rises slightly above the acid.

- When at the highest point, jump onto the platform at the very end of the path.
- From the platform, jump onto the acid current and keep hopping.
- DO NOT go into the maze as it is a trick. From the current, jump onto a platform on the opposite side of where you are (into the path area).
- Carefully climb the rocks.

From here you are now on top of the path borders. Run to the wall facing the Queen Bee Dog maze and clinb the protruding platforms. Migrate over to the acid maze area as you’re climbing the platforms (leftward).

- You should be able to find some platforms that lead you on top of the maze border. It may be tough to see because of the dark green atmosphere.

- While running along the border, go to the opposite side from the bee dog maze, and you should see a 1-Up. There is also an area near the 1-Up which has tiny fragments. This is a digspot worth 50 Baubles.

- There will be 6 snakes in the acid lake. Don’t kill them yet!
- You have to go all the way around the area’s borders and hop onto the saturated green blocks in the lake center. Jump on all of them.
- The snakes will become paralyzed. Play this song on the flute afterwards:

“123123”

- A “secret” tune will chime.
- The snakes will resume moving
- Kill the snakes

After killing the snakes, Kaiser Snake will spawn. Although you have a ton of borders, the blocks in the middle will disappear rather quickly so you have to move fast.

- Kaiser shoots homing missiles. Use border walls to your advantage. The charge between missiles is 10 seconds.
- Occasionally he hides his tail (weak spot) and makes the area poisonous and you have to migrate to the highest border rocks. Kaiser Snake will have his head up while this is occurring. When his head drops go back closer to him.
- It is strongly recommended to spam bombs to kill him. This is an aiming game as only the tip of his tail can be harmed.

When the snake dies the victory theme plays and the acid drains away revealing a chest containing a glorious chest and green baubles.

Enjoy and good luck! =)

This build now has a Metabattle article!

https://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Chronomancer_-_Boonshare_Mantra_Spam

Also for some clarification: this is not a bunker build. My mistake on the title! It can hold in almost all 1v1s (with the exception of highly skilled Mesmers and Thieves) and in some 1v2s, but rarely 1v3s.

Why consider taking this over ele/druid?

- BOONS!
- Healing
- Alacrity
- Mobility
- Has about the same DPS as ele, maybe a little more.
- Has great CCs

This isn’t a burst healer like ele or druid. It’s a supplementary healer granting heals over time. If you were to spam Mantra of Pain in a teamfight with quickness without using other skills you’d heal about every 4-5 seconds minimum (~4.3k outgoing heals each time).

Though realistically the heal is more like every 6-8 seconds, more if using skills.

Though, you also have Well of Eternity and Healing Prism for more heals.

Even if it might have less healing potential than Ele or Druid (it could have the same healing potential), it still has tremendous boonshare. Stability is huge in boonsharing, and let’s not forget about quickness!

Necros and Thieves will be the biggest threats against this build, but it isn’t too bad.

Of course, releasing content for an MMORPG requires most players being able to enjoy an update’s content, so if SAB was heavily hated by the community then of course this thread would make sense. But where it stands, players enjoy SAB for what it is and Anet basically scored a win there. GW2 in particular seems to attract a vast range of players wanting to play GW2 for various reasons, and the appeal to play can be rekindled by content such as SAB.

Tl;dr it’s all about player appeal

I do ‘t get why people complain about SAB being difficult if there’s an infantile mode.
