I agree that IDing gear is the better way to go.

But even then, you’re never required to ID gear. Some folks will prefer salvaging some will prefer IDing.

No need to ID every day, just save up stacks beforehand to save the hassle of IDing everything. I don’t understsnd why it’s an inconvenience if you can just do it once a week after farming.

I’m happy with it. Saves a ton of space and when I salvage them I don’t have to worry about a bunch of useless sigils clogging up my inventory. You guys are acting like this is anti-consumer, but I’d say it’s the exact opposite. You should never feel tempted again to buy extra bag slots and you can play longer without having to go to a vendor.

IMO, the pros vastly out-weigh the cons.

If this is a solution to overfilling the inventory it is a “Great” one. There are at least several in my mind as I am writing this that would have been far better and would not ask for 1.68 silver for each salvage, basically defeating the salvaging purpose.

It costs 1.68 silver to ID the gear not salvage it.

This is why this system is good—if you don’t care about rare/exotic drops you can just salvage from the get go. If you’re farming your inventory will never get clogged up with sigils and runes, and then you can ID the gear for a chance of getting higher tier gear.

Think of it this way, you have to option to turn the unid gear into mats, or you can play the feelin’ lucky card for a chance at Rare or Exotics. Two options.

You can also save up the gear until you have multiple stacks, from which you can then ID them.

The problem with Self-Regulating Defense is it interferes with AED. I WANT to die with the heal active.

I took Elixir S mainly for the on-demand, non-passive invuln, as well as the stealth.

I thought that Rune of the Speed helped max out mobility even with a swiftness proc, though perhaps Leadership is better?

As for Scrapper, Hammer is so much better than Rifle, the Superspeed/Swiftness regen is amazing considering the build has so many in the first place, and Adaptive Armor helps greatly with sustain in general.

I tried condi but maybe I just play bad with it, IDK… Didn’t have much success. I’ll definitely try your build out though.

Revert PvP Icons

in PvP

Posted by: Abelisk.4527

Abelisk.4527

The idea behind the new icons was that we weren’t pleased with the readability of the old ones. As others have noted, you had to already know what the rank art looked like to know whether someone had achieved a higher or lower rank.

That being said, considering the feedback, we’ll revert them.

Thank you.

I too found the icons rather bland and I’ll be honest—it was harder to distinguish the new icons to their ratings compared to the old ones.

I thought the blue one was for platinum, and the bronze one was for gold players. Then I noticed the “pips” on the sides of the icons which showed the status of the ratings. Problem is I still don’t think newer players would be able to differentiate them.

I think newer players always had a hunch that legendary rating was really good prior to the change, because people have asked what my rating was when I wore the legendary badge.

Additionally I’ve even had people in PvE blatantly say things like “what’s a leg doing here” or “grats on the leg” etc, and those people themselves didn’t appear to have any badges or anything. I mean it’s easier to know what the ratings look like by going into the PvP panel and seeing all the icons right there.

As a player who also enjoys being led to the most efficient way possible, everything came to me on its own. Of course, I did look up guides on the wiki out of sheer curiosity, usually for the most trivial things.

90% of the things I do in GW2 come from self experience and word of mouth. Guildies sometimes share important info when I ask a question. In your case I strongly recommend joining a guild and asking some questions to know what to do.

You’ll quickly realize what the “best” method is of doing so and so.

Best farming = Silverwastes all around.
Best skilled farming = Level 40 Fractals
What to do with mats = sell the mats that can be sold on the TP that cost a lot, but also sell materials that have hit the limit (250, etc.).
Hearts = all of them in any order, why would you think that matters?

In some cases you learn on your own what’s the most efficient way of doing something. For PvP/WvW my best reward track for gold is Lake Doric since it nets the most Unbound Magic and has a chance of getting ascended mats, Maguuma Lilies, Freshwater Pearls, and T6 materials (Magic-Warped Packets/Bundles).

Just learn as you go, look up things you are iffy on, but most of all try not to stress out and enjoy the detail put into GW2.

How'd your season go?

Posted by: Abelisk.4527

Abelisk.4527

Fun, stressful, interesting.

The meta this season for Thief was condi hands down. Nearly every game this season had one of those which was frustrating but really interesting that Thieves had two viable options this season. Comes to show how just one little trait and skill adjustment can completely alter the meta!

For the first time ever I reached legendary rating using a bunker Mesmer. Bunker mes is completely underrated since people think “that” patch killed Chronobunker, well the truth is a few trait/skill/stat changes did the trick for me in bringing chronobunker back. It’s not a true bunker, more like a bruiser ala Druid / Scrapper.

Oh and after the elite change for Ventari revenant, a lot more of those too. On that note condi Revenant has made a fair comeback. All in all this season was interesting—a couple shakeups in the meta but similar to the last two.

Any tips for Scepter/WH

Wildfire always goes first, then DT, then Phoenix. If any of those are on CD then skip them absolutely do not wait for them to go off CD. Reason being is that when you swap to Air attunement you get permanent precision bonus but more importantly a temporary gain in Ferocity from FA.

I enjoy Sc/W much more because of the range which makes it a lot faster to breeze through mobs since you don’t have to time your attacks as much. Plus Phoenix has incredible cleave especially if you place it well. Another tip, you CAN cast Phoenix while swapping to Air, but you probably need to hit the key really quickly like 2-3 times just to make sure Phoenix goes off.

That’s why you don’t solo queue. If you have a duo who understands what he/she’s doing then the odds of you winning are much greater.

Let’s say the three pugs on your team feed mid. You and your partner can grab sides and win 1v1s if both of you are good, allowing for the enemy team to rotate out of mid and make it easier for your team to win teamfights.

I don’t know how well the Weaver will work, but given the current complication of elements increasing the difficulty by 2 in getting what you need when you want it is going to really make this class very tenuous for multi-toon players. Tracking 32 combinations for each weapon set? Good luck remembering that when you play another profession.

Ele has always been “that” class with a ton of skills.

I don’t see this as an issue at all. If you’re going DPS you’ll probably take FA which will make the 4 and 5 skills basically on-demand.

If you’re a healer or a tanky spec then the 3 second wait (or 2 3/4 sec wait) won’t hurt.

It will take a week at most to work out the broken specs. Then pvp will suck for the next 3 months until anet finally nerf those things. Then pvp will be semi-bad due to the power creep.

We still haven’t figured out all the builds we could make with the HoT elite specs.

LOL of course we did. But nobody played or talked about the bad attempts, so 2 years later the forum finds the garbage ones because people are 2 years behind. That’s not what “new” is. GW2 build crafting is very limited, there is nothing to discover.

Not true at all. My Mesmer build that I’ve been running in PvP has led me to Rank 6 and I doubt any of you have heard about it.

Abelisk.4527

Every PvP game’s Ranked mode is stressful for a lot of players—League of Legends, Smite, etc. The point of Ranked is to climb as high as you can, yet the majority of players sits in the average area which provides the said stress. Players always want to be the “best”, hitting top this and top that, yet when they’re in the average zone they realize they’re a loong way back from where they want to be. Plus, people get really salty in chat.

So when these players lose a game, they get really stressed out because they get held back from hitting the top rankings.

It’s not just GW2, every game has something like this…

Okay so now on-topic, a lot of plat players are pretty average especially after the ranking threshold adjustment. Just practice, get better specs, find a good duo, and carry your way into victory. I heard somewhere that players can queue with other players within 700 rating from their rating so don’t be surprised if you’re put in a high-end or low-end game. The population isn’t high.

On that note, you said you wanted to learn how to play better. Unranked is better for that IMO. Grab a group of players/people you know and queue into unranked for practice. I recommend playing Ranked after you’ve mastered the builds you run.

Good: The Shining Blade & Sharur, Aurora, new Fractal, QoL changes and bugfixes, skins, Arm of Abaddon JP, instance subtleties/details

Meh: New zone (I just don’t like the Orr theme, the updrafts in the SW area of the map are annoying and make my head hurt especially since you can’t control the dash skill, and the ways to get up to the upper areas of the map are tedious, AND the NW area of the map is too tough), story (I have a sensitive but lowish standard for stories, but the one in this episode hardly made me feel hyped. In LS2 I felt a sense of urgency and awe at the end but in here I felt confusion with some hype. I felt like LS3 in general was grasping at random plot threads and cutting them off for no reason while making new ones out of the blue… IDK it felt weird).

Bad: none, despite some meh impressions I didn’t see anything that was abysmal.

Here’s my most recent match. I’m the Mesmer, ( currently in Bronze because I abandoned ranked PvP for the season.)

We’re facing 3 + Legend rank players in a premade of 5. One of them whispered me after the game expressly to call me bad. One did it in game.

This, ANET, is why people don’t want to play PvP.

I’m headed back to Elona to farm Lightbringer promotion points. Hard mode is sometimes excessively hard… but I know that I have the same chance as everyone else.

I understand your frustration. We were practicing for the upcoming AT. It was not a premade team whatsoever.

Also, we only had one legend on our team, not three. The rest were in gold/plat.

I could easily point out the other side of the argument (why we badmouthed you in the first place) but that would either give us a warning/ban or risk closing this thread.

The next xpac could be interesting for the PvP scene, since there’s more potential synergy between the HoT and papaya elite specs.

Ik about the timing aspect, it’s just that sometimes especially when you’re under pressure controlling the tablet feels too slow.

A ground indicator is a great idea since players would know where to receive the heals, but I feel if the tablet teleported players would react more quickly and wouldn’t need to predict how far the tablet would go. Sure it’s an advantage in blobs for WvW but in PvE and PvP there are less blob formations of players.

Ventari tablet buff

in Revenant

Posted by: Abelisk.4527

Abelisk.4527

Instead of having the tablet hover to its destination, what if it teleported instead?

The concept of ventari’s tablet is to provide support and heals from an external source which is an amazing concept. It also fits with Rev’s high skill floor. However I think that the tablet’s potential is lost because the tablet is too slow when it moves across the map.

Should the tablet teleport instead of move? Would that reduce the clunkiness of the build?

To compensate perhaps add 1 or 1.5 seconds to the CD. This also encourages players to use Natural Harmony more for the alacrity, speeding up Ventari’s Will.

I mean with builds like auramancer ele or support druid the support revolves around them (the players running those builds) so it can basically be instantaneous support, while the tablet has that slow-moving “lag” which just makes using it annoying.

even though the leather farm will yield more gold from time to time.

The latter is simply untrue. You’d need to make 166 t6 leather per hour to equalise the gold, and 167+ to make more profit than Silverwastes.

Which is why you sell the hides. Salvage items will always be more pricey than the salvage results, otherwise players will make a profit from buying salvage items off the TP and getting more mats than the salvage item worth.

In an hour you typically get around 200+ hides with a good squad which if sold from setting a sell order will net around 30 gold.

Oh this is awesome!! This means:

1. More zergs in Lake Doric
2. Lower hardened leather price
3. A potentially outprofitting farm over SW

Im gonna farm ASAP

Except, the more people that believe this notion, the more the price will crash, thus, keeping SW the highest profiting non-instanced farm method in the game currently.

And given more time, more people will forget that notion, and the price will rise!

The cost of t6 leather and bloodstone-warped bags has appeared to stabilize as of now, but if more people do it then the profit is sure to plummet. SW is the “go-to” farm that will likely always be profitable, even though the leather farm will yield more gold from time to time.

I don’t think there will be a lot of people farming Doric though, since it’s behind a LS episode, and many people still don’t know why leather crashed. I talked about it in two guilds with a large amount of players in both and none of them knew about the hide salvage change. Some people still don’t know what the leather farm is.

Oh and another thing: more precursors/exotics/BLC keys! Someone in our squad a few hours ago found a BLC key. Within an hour you’ll easily have defeated 300-400 mobs (with a good group) which is a lot of chances for high-end items, compared to the 80 bag (and 50-100 mob) total you get from a typical RIBA SW run. The DR is a shame though.

Abelisk.4527

Condi is a fix to the boring power-bunker-stun meta. “nerf” is never a solution, diversity is. u should be more diverse and think of some anti-condi button. and is very simple since condi builds, requires “constructon” to stack significantly amount of condi. To necro stack 30 bleed on someone isnt just press 1 button.

Except that the condi change was introduced with the HoT specializations. By removing condi out of the way people will play around with HoT builds.

Not to mention a ton of the HoT specs provide a lot of condi cleanse. Nerfing condi stacking would allow for core builds to shine more.
