Core Burn Build (PvP) - easy 18 stack burn

Abelisk.4527

I think it’s pretty good in teamfights and skirmishes/small fights. Deadshot is insanely OP for it. You can hit up to like 24 stacks of burn (my highest with this on a real player). The precision + fury + 10% critical chance makes it almost 100%. The precision will be important for Zealot’s Flame and other burn things as well as overall damage. Vulnerability, torment, and bleeding all help cover the burning too. It absolutely kills rezzing too.

Keep Sword of Justice active as much as possible, and activating the follow-up as much as possible. Always focus on using scepter/torch for burning application. Throw Zealot’s Flame often too. Because you have precision, Zealot’s Flame will activate every 10 seconds.

Hope everyone has fun with it!

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vFAQJArdncMAFNg9MAeOAcYiFTArYKWCCBul10acloCEAaAA-TJRHABVs/AAPAggPBA+XGAA

Notes:
– 95% of the time you must use GoEP in fire attunement
– Use overloads when you’re out of focus / stunbreak / AoE condis
– Plays similarly like the S/F FA build

Air overload stacks up to 4 condis on its own: Vulnerability, Weakness, Torment, Fire (with Glyph active). This is simply put an intense condition pressure build with decent sustainability.

So if you’re asking for people to stop arguing what’s the point of this thread other than stating opinion? I mean what if every GW2 player posted their thoughts and said “everyone support my thread pls and agree with me” then the thread might as well be locked because there’s no room for discussion…

As for the topic, I can’t say for sure but I feel like GW2 is quite the opposite. Current Events for PvE, PvP updates, 5-6 egendaries a year, 5-6 new LS3 chapters a year, Fractals, Raids are all in the works.

Condi mesmer dilemma: Scepter/Torch or Staff?

in Mesmer

Posted by: Abelisk.4527

Abelisk.4527

I’ve been running a Scepter/Torch and Sword/Shield condition mesmer build with great success. Each weapon set has at least one block, and you also have a torch.

In Illusions I take The Pledge so that my torch stealth skill recharges more quickly. I also take Malicious Sorcery for faster scepter CD recharge thus allowing more blocks.

Staff is great for cloning and juking as well as an AoE, but having more blocks + stealth is greater IMO. I also take Mass Invisibility for high stealth uptime. This allows me to generate clones with safety and make a preemptive attack (with Scepter 3 perhaps).

Your thoughts?

1) D/D condi evade thief. Why? Spam 3, spam dodge, weapon swap, repeat, utilities / heal in between, repeat

2) My TRUE vault spammer thief. Why? Spam 5, dodge, repeat, utilities / heal in between, weapon swap repeat. It scores lower than D/D because of vault aiming and maneuver

3) LB Dragonhunter. Why? Spam ranged attacks, utilities, heal, elite, virtues, even though it’s some more complex than the top two

4) Bunker D/W auramancer. Why? Spam skills randomly and if you need health, spam skills that give health first, run around randomly spamming random stuff that somehow gets you health through Elemental Bastion and other methods

5) Burn Dragonhunter. Why? Spam utilities and randomly use torch skills at enemies – supports minimal technicality

Glint has Elemental Blast which deals 3 different condis including fire.

Sw/Shield is good for damage dealing and heals, though you could replace the shield with axe.

I’ve had a lot of success with the build, and I’m not even that good of a revenant to be honest.

Also what do you expect when facing a bunker? L0L. Of course you should never 1v1 a bunker… If you’re facing a druid/ele in a 1v1 then you already won. A support bunker should never be in a 1v1 scenario, ever. Especially if their team is losing badly and keeps dying.

With the interrupts that you have, you will be dealing serious burst damage with this build. You just have to know how to play it! You know what they say, practice makes perfect =)

If you want infinite dodge/vault spam, then this super annoying build will do.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vZAQJAWWn8lC9OhFOBGmCkmiFqiqrnCgDYO73+x37CShBA-TJhFABAcJAS4JAIVZg33fAA

Basically, you want to dodge + vault (staff 5) constantly. In order to do so, you’ll need to identify your sources of initiative and endurance gain.

• Weapon swap fills endurance and initiative
• All staff skills give 10 endurance
• Your heal gives endurance
• Roll For Initiative is a dodge, and it refills your initiative partially
• Bandit’s Defense should be saved for when all your sources of endurance and initiative are unavailable
• Signet of Agility refills your endurance by a lot
• The elite fills your endurance by 10
• Your steal fills your endurance as well

Your goal is to use vault after dodging. Avoid using two vaults in a row unless you’re out of endurance. It becomes muscle memory eventually.

Notes: Because it’s Staff/Staff, mobility is low. You should inform your team beforehand that you’ll not be able to decap, so stick to teamfights. If you get focused, always be on the move and dodge + vault constantly.

There will eventually be a point where you won’t be able to do anything skillwise, but this situation only occurs when you dodge + vault too quickly, as well as wasting your utilities and heal too early.

So far, Druids seem to be the biggest problem with this build (good Druids that is), but you’ll still be ble to stall them for a while if you play right. If you aim is godly, Druids should be down in a matter of seconds, however. Aiming your vaults and dodges is a crucial mastery with this build.

Most staff thieves don’t use double staff, and run Deadly Arts instead of Acro. However, Acro has lots of important pieces that can keep your endurance up more often. Anyway, it’s really rare seeing an infinite dodge/vault thief. However, they’re excellent if you know what to do.

Oh and they’re really OP against D/P thieves. They’ll try to time their headshots, but the gap between your dodges and vaults will be so small that, well, good luck timing the headshot.

I don’t want to heal my team to 100% honestly, they can dodge and heal themselves as the game isn’t supposed to have a trinity system. I just want a cool class to play and Warhorn isn’t cool.

“Dodge and heal themselves” you see, that’s the thing. The meta for all 5 seasons has always been damage, damage, damage (hell, even your post implies that fact)

Because of this, teammates are super glassy and die so fast that support is, well, a must in our current meta.

I love the way warhorn plays… it uses a lot of camera turning / jukes, positioning, and supports a lot of comboing. It focus more on group offense / support, while focus is single target oppression.

It’s up to everyone to choose between focus / warhorn, but if you play proficiently in warhorn I can guarantee you that it’s an excellent choice for support. Now, I’m not sure how it handles damage builds since focus definitely works in there.

My Proposed Buffs To Warhorn

in Elementalist

Posted by: Abelisk.4527

Abelisk.4527

Most healing this season? Hmm… 1.1 million? Something over a million.

Heals are extremely important in teamfights as they increase the longetivity of your allies of course, and coupled with damage dealing, warhorn is a viable tool to helping maintain your team.

Well it’s not the Warhorn doing the healing, it’s the auras and you can have those on any weapons. The elementalist used to be a class that could win fights, not just stay around and dance like a monkey to buff other classes.

It’s a shame what they’ve done to this class, a game that wasn’t even supposed to have a trinity system to start with.

Here’s an experiment. Run Mender / Magi, get yourself down to half health, and then use warhorn water 4. Then use warhorn water 5, and then dagger water 3 in the water 5 field. Quickly swap to earth and cast warhorn earth 4 in the field as well. That alone heals considerable health.

And your skills don’t only work on the water field. Enemy blast finishers as well as ally finishers work too, which can be extremely powerful by restoring a team’s health up to 100% rather quickly.

I don’t like those maps either, especially when achievement hunting. They have fun metas though.

I don’t know about Verdant Brink, but Tangled Depths often has LFG HP trains that you can join in on. They’re really fun little trains that can get all the hero points you need.

It’s potent. I’ve really made dents with this build.

I just came in here to point out how freaking good this build is. I’ve been running a Berserker Rev build for the longest time and while I did pretty well, I’d get destroyed by a well played Necro or Condi Mes.

NO MORE! Thanks to your build, I now have the vitality to withstand heavy condi pressure and the damage to hit back harder! Thanks so much for sharing your build, sir! You have singlehandedly saved Revenant for me PVP-wise. I was even able to win a 2v1 against a Druid and Condi Warrior last night with this build which is something I thought impossible just a week ago.

Too bad Revenant is no longer as desirable in Raids though sigh I built an entire set of Raid gear for him too then he got nerfed a week later.

I’m glad you found it useful! Valkyrie amulet is one of the more underappreciated amulets, and I didn’t even know it existed up until one point recently. Because there’s more HP, you can skip the Devastation 3 trait as well as offhand shield. I found Mara to squishy, but Valkyrie’s extra power and ferocity really make up for the precision loss. It’s like the Marauder build but with more damage and health. You can swap out Rune of the Eagle for boonshare runes if you like to as well.

Do you play it in Ranked at all?

Yeah. It’s really powerful in teamfights and especially in cleaving downed enemies, although eles might be able to clean condis off often. However, it’s possible to apply huge stacks of torment for burst damage. There’s a lot of boonstrip potential here too. It’s a great build IMO with many defensive capabilities, escapes, etc.

My Proposed Buffs To Warhorn

in Elementalist

Abelisk.4527

lol Warhorn. We all knew it would be kitten even before trying it.

They could buff all the skill damage by 50% and it would still suck because the animations are slow, the synergy is bad (with traits and between skills) and the design is just all around terrible for the class.

I’ll defend the warhorn because it excels at support. While it loses an invuln, its healing and protection benefits as well as might share is unrivaled. The skills take from 1/4 seconds to 1 second to cast which is very small gap to get CC’d though it happens in groupfights. This is why one should stay at the backend of the allies side rather than the enemy.

Since everyone avoids Tidal Surge (lowest cast time), you can use it as a shield to cast more skills. And not only Tidal Surge, Air Overload is another mean shield to use. And BTW, you’ll be surprised how many people get affected by Tidal Surge. On points where things look tense, the skill can do heavy knockback in a radial manner, and on points like the Clock Tower from Khylo, you can push people off the point itself (happens all the time). The fact it doesn’t land is just a myth used by people who 1v1 in WvW or servers, and its true damage comes to points in PvP, or groupfights in WvW.

Air 4 is also underrated. It helps me a lot to CC enemies in a pinch. It’s fairly fast travelling and unexpected. It doesn’t require a target. Additionally, it pulls enemies into a line, allowing you and your team to cleave forward through them all.

Tidal Surge and Water Bubble are all regeneration bots. They synergize with Cleansing Water extremely well.

Dust Storm and Wildfire are passive fields. Wildfire also happens to be a fire field (aka Might proc). It’s a buffed variant of focus’s fire 4 field (at the cost of 2 Might stacks).

I’ve used the warhorn in upper-plat to legendary games already and never experienced an issue. Thieves with perfect headshot timing will probably kill you, so you should run around the thief to make it a lot harder to land a shot on you. If you feel like you’re getting unusually high focus, disengage and juke as best you can. The heals you have (if you know what they are) will replenish your HP very quickly. Just go back to the point and rekindle your team’s health.

I like running Rune of the Monk because of enhanced healing and outgoing healing. With Aquatic Benevolence, your allies receive 25% more heals than you do to yourself.

Most healing this season? Hmm… 1.1 million? Something over a million.

Heals are extremely important in teamfights as they increase the longetivity of your allies of course, and coupled with damage dealing, warhorn is a viable tool to helping maintain your team.

You could also sacrifice a healing sigil for a sigil of transference for even more extended outgoing healing, at the cost of some more healing utility.

And with that message, I feel like people don’t give warhorn a chance. I’m one of the very lucky few who stuck with the weapon because the mechanics felt interesting, and now I’ve developed a unique situational feel with it. I love it! Unfortunately this means I can’t play focus anymore since my twitch reactions / rotations are all screwed up.

Rev is just the hardest class to play in pvp right now. Apparently for top tier it is still pretty ok, but for the vast majority of players they are just better off playing something like dragonhunter, or really any other class.

While I’m not going to argue that there’s a huge difference between a fresh rev and a rev who knows what he’s doing now, I’m going to completely disagree that they are the hardest class to play now.

Their damage got nerfed. Their 1v1 potential is significantly diminished (still possible). They’re teamfighters now and we still combined with the team do a great job of opening up bunkers like a tin can.

Rev is still seen in legend and plat quite often, and it will not be going anywhere. It’s just not 100% required now like it used to be.

Good answer. Rev still has the best AoE CC imo, especially since 2 of those (Jade Winds and SotM) are on low cooldowns. But as for damage, only the sword AA is still deadly. Its other means of dealing damage are just nothing special, they’re mostly a utility in teamfights rather than a damage dealer.

Debilitating Slam is another really powerful skill. I managed to down a DH with it when he had about two-thirds of his health left.
