That’s nothing. Try Giant Slayer.
You CAN play fun builds and have success.
This thread is specifically about rotating between points in PvP. I have issues with rotating for some classes especially support.
The purpose of this thread is to provide insight on how to rotate with various builds and things you SHOULD always do and things you SHOULDN’T ever do.
I understand that many players are struggling with the concept of rotation in PvP, including myself. I would love to see insight on how to rotate! I think that because there is so little effort in explaining rotations for each build, this thread may help those who can’t seem to figure out how to rotate.

It’s a tough call because of the overwhelming nerfs to Chronobunker but I’m wondering if there is a chance of such a build existing? Thanks in advance.
Don’t know why anyone would take it over reduced fire CDs and 10% damage boost. A build would have go all out auras to make any use out of it, and the use wouldn’t be meaningful enough, if it was working properly.
I use One With Fire. You can get about 7 Might stacks with D/D (8 stacks with D/F) from: Feel the Burn, Flash Freeze, Sunspot trait, Flame Shield if taking Focus, Frost Aura if taking Dagger, Shocking Aura. That’s 7-8 Might stacks.
Then you have overloads which grant Might, with Fire OL granting 2 Might.
So on average you will be getting like 6-8 Might stacks per full aura proc which is 180 – 240 Power and Condition Damage.
10% damage boost on Fire attunement with around 2200 power is 222 Power. With One With Aura you can hit above that at 240 Power (+ condi damage). Additionally, Might affects all four attunements.
Plus the Fire CD reduction isn’t really necessary either, there isn’t anything too worthwhile that needs a CD reduction anyway. Burning Speed recharges on its own by the time Fire attunement has refreshed.
As for OP I’ll check the trait out for myself and come back and edit this post.
Something’s really off here.
On average, I get 30-50k damage a game with Ventari revenant. Very low damage.
But with meta ele, I get an average of 225k damage. With mender D/D Strength however I average 300k in a good match.
Your English skills are great
I’d say go Tempest for the overloads, and if you have Feel the Burn you’re pretty much set.
Fire/Air/Tempest.
It’s definitely a subjective feeling. Personally, I appreciate time gates because they space out content in balanced distributions, instead of doing everything all at once.
Imagine doing 64 Renown Hearts in one day, hardcore grinders wouldn’t mind something like that.
Value.
The value of an item is determined by many factors. Time gating an item increases its value in the form of patience and time.
Rich people who spend thousands can easily get an item that isn’t time gated, but by time gating it there is a certain quality to that specific item that increases its worth.
For example look at the backpieces for the new LS3 maps. The Wayfarer’s Henge feels a lot more precious to me than the other backs, partly due to the aesthetic but mainly because of the length of time required to get the Henge (16 days).
I’m really sorry for your friend, hope he/she gets better.
Plaguelands is a lot more dangerous than you think. The last pulse deals one of most condis in the game.
I would just like to state I like this patch, and for Dagger/Dagger elementalist I can finally stack up to 25 might stacks with ease thanks to the new sigils. Because Sigil of Courage no longer requires crit, it is so much easier to stack.

It’s a shame that Fire specialization is nearly useless and Water is mandatory in PvP, but a lot of classes have too-important specializations (Revenant – Herald spec; Thief – Trickery spec; Guardian – Valor spec; Mesmer – Inspiration spec etc)
I feel like specs that are focused on sustaining are the cornerstones of our builds, without them we’d drop like flies.
Problem is each specialization should have a nice amount of sustainability. For example for elementalist the Fire spec has Cleansing Flames which procs on 3 different condis. This is countered by Mesmers because one of their shattered clones can deal 3 condis which will just waste that utility.
I think all of the specs need a good condi cleanse option. Water has the regen-into-cleanse trait which is too important to give up. Anet needs to tone down on the conditions, reworking how they work.
I am currently running a defensive Mender’s Dagger/Dagger ele build in PvP, I have no idea how it works in Ranked games but it has been super successful in Unranked. It can stack up to 25 Might stacks with ease and keep it there for several seconds, and is easily restackable.
I’ve fought some Warriors today. Their animations hardly got nerfed. Headbutt is still fairly unseeable unless my rxn time is simply awful, the mace CC spam is real, I guess the only thing really affected was GS.
Now to Druid and Guardian. I still see Dragonhunters everywhere, but less Druids. I would say Druids have taken Revenant’s place vice versa.
Sage doesn’t scale that well with auras and heal so I swapped WtPA with Signet of Restoration and Tempest 3/2/3 to 2/2/3. If going Focus do Water 1/2/1.
Edits OP, I did not realize that
Yeah GoEP is a little too weak at its current state IMO. I don’t know any real use for it other than in PvE.

Arcane Power got a pretty major change in the latest patch. Earth does bleeding instead of immobilize, Air does Blind instead of Weakness. But most of all it can now share its effect with 5 other allies.
Sage’s Amulet has condition damage and power, Rune of Balthazar has the condition duration and Arcane Power has 5 guaranteed criticals.
I suppose you could change the Feel the Burn to something else though, such as Armor of Earth or Arcane Shield.
I do not comply understand can the arcain power give ppl the condi effects if the ele has elemental surges?
Yes, and the allies’ applications will be based on your stats. Their applications are also affected by your attunement.
Da/X potentially Sc/X, a build that utilizes the exotic condition sharing bonus from Arcane Power.
My choice:
Your job is mainly to support, condi is a bonus. Use Arcane Power closely to others, it’s best to use it in the middle of your team (needs to be within 240 radius to share).
The shared Arcane Power relies on your stats (condition damage / duration) so even if your team is all power-based, they will be able to do high condi damage.
If you swap your attunement the effect of Arcane Power swaps to the respective attunement. All of them are pretty deadly except for Air since Fire does huge damage, Water does long-lasting chill, and Earth does long-lasting immob.
This is not a dueling build!! Warning! Or a bunker for that matter. It strongly relies on others while healing others, so you get sort of a feedback loop – once you’re dead the team gimps.
So with that statement I would like to conclude this build post, and I wish you all have an interesting (and funky) Season 7.
tl;dr: arcane power shares condi, meta, balee it

Who uses Longbow anymore prepatch C_C it had no defensive skills at all..
These shaves are OK as long as other classes receive them.
S/F ele still works, just use Sigil of Ruthlessness and Sigil of Exposure, maybe GoEP air gg ez
It looks like reliance on passive skills is taking a reduction as well as skill activation in a linear fashion; players may actually have to consider strategy and effective timing. Players won’t be able to rely(as much) on an OP class skill/trait set to carry them past their fluttery button mashes. Oh god, what have you done Anet!
Yeah, meanwhile condi passive gameplay has skyrocketed and thieves spamming 1 can actually down power based classes now. kitten balance.
Condi passive gameplay? You mean sigil of ice, earth, geomancy, torment, leeching- o wait! They’re gone now!
But for real, most of the condi changes made with the patch are AoE based, meaning they’re not really hard to dodge…
I’m having a blast with the new Ventari rev elite, you can now play pinball with players!
you could do it before . ppl ust dont try it. btw now even less as you lose your nrg….
You can spam it if you’re off-point. When I mean pinball I mean CC every 3 seconds.
Perhaps the most trolliest build ever, decaps so well and interrupts so friggin much.

Sigil of Absorption both weapons, second sigil your choice
Replace Devastation with Retribution mid/top/mid for a bunkery but less potent option
Usage: spam 1 + elite, use 1 to move the tablet to targets. Requires planning of where your enemy will be knocked back.

repost
Since Metabattle is probably getting an overhaul what builds have you come up with GO
(Also i just noticed there’s an Edit Topic tool, rip me)
Torment Sigil is pretty useful for condi revs.
They added much more though.
Application sigils are a lot more powerful than duration sigils.
Because every class got nerfs except Revenant.
Wash the Pain Away had its cd increased to 25.
I see your viewpoint, when I used to play condi ele I relied on Fire GoEP for damage too. However try coupling Arcane Power with GoEP in Fire attunement while casting a skill from another attunement.
Yes, I know that works, but after your 5 attacks hit what then? The old one was 2 stacks every 5 seconds for 30 seconds and I think that was better instead of this 1 stack.
Now that Bleeding exists in Earth that may find use. Vulnerability might make power builds better. With air swap in FA sf ele you can get a quick 20 vulnerability, especially if you used scepter 2 in earth midcast into air.
Also you can play a chill spam burst build by using scepter 2 in earth midcast into water attunement. The possibilities are interesting. Idk how dagger would work though.
Sigil of Courage + Sigil of Ruthlessness?
I see your viewpoint, when I used to play condi ele I relied on Fire GoEP for damage too. However try coupling Arcane Power with GoEP in Fire attunement while casting a skill from another attunement.
So they are trying to reduce stalemating fights but also slow down the pace of the game.
Warrior is directly reflecting this concept in their changes.
The biggest worry is still a generous tilt in the appeal of condi builds, but I think it’s best at this point to wait out the changes and see how we adapt.
Poorly though in my opinion. 10% nerf to passive healing from signet is pretty big superficially, but they are still healing for about 475 health every second if they keep T3 adrenal health up, and that is still absolutely trivial to do since primal burst skills still count as T3 adrenaline skills.
The elephant in the room is Endure Pain / Defy Pain’s effect nerf down to 2 seconds.
Sanctuary got buffed with pulsing stability gone out the drain
GoEP had its recharge reduced from 45 to 25 lol, how was it nerfed?
Also you guys feel like only ele got nerfed, fortunately every class pretty much got nerfed with sigil removals and skill removals.
Also whoever said people were excited for Tempest just (lol), everyone hated the warhorn as the weapon.
Everyone wanted sword to be the weapon and all fingers are pointing to sword or GS in the next expansion.
The utilities aren’t Mantras. Look at Firebrands.
My guess is we’re getting Pulses, which refresh their charges on attunement swap (so you can use a certain amount in each attunement). Normal amount of pulses is 2, traited is 3.
You can use shadows to see where you land
Ele main here, I’ll try to provide tips on how to fight a Daredevil.
I’ve tried my hand at Daredevil, both playing D/P meta, Staff acro, and a mix of both.
If a Thief goes D/P, they will generally be more vulnerable but more mobile if they take dash. D/P Thieves generally have better damage compared to Staff especially when the Thief takes DA instead of Acro. Even though staff has easier bursts than D/P (vault), it is weaker since it gets to hit less than D/P.
Mind you that staff DDs tend to use staff 3 a lot. Begin autoattack animation -> steal -> staff 3 -> kite is something you will see a lot when dueling staff acro thieves.
Just try to remember these things:
- A Thief’s defense is their mobility
- Wasting their Backstab is crucial
- Don’t give them a chance to use Black Powder if they’re near you
- If they blocked an attack at close range with Bandit’s Defense, dodge since they may use a counterattack which can CC you and let them rip off a nice chunk of damage with Vault or other means
- If you’re condi and you deliver a burst, don’t attack them. If you notice their condis completely removed then they may have wasted their Signet of Agility and Shadowstep. With those two gone the Thief is slightly weaker and less agile.
The most dangerous part of a Thief is when they’re in stealth. If they’re running Basilisk Venom and they steal you, they can interrupt you even if you had 10 stacks of Stability for quite a while so save those stun breaks.
Now for some Fresh Air Elementalist tips:
- Tempest doesn’t scale well against Daredevil. Even by taking Harmonious Conduit, their steals will interrupt the Stability. In theory Tempest is good because it supplies AoEs which should counter a Thief, but unlike Dragonhunter, Overloads are really long channels which basically tell a Thief, "Interrupt me!"
- I tried running Fresh Air Tempest but it does not work. Fresh Air core ele is the best you can take.
- Your main attack will come from Air. Electric Discharge + Sigil of Air + Scepter 2 is generally what will do the big damage. Phoenix from Fire works pretty good too, just make sure your Phoenix is aimed at slightly behind your Thief if you can do that, since you may hit the Thief 5+ times with the skill (but it’s unlikely the Thief will take your Phoenix).
- As someone said above, you can use Arcane Blast for huge bursts. Electric Discharge + Sigil of Air + Lightning Strike + Arcane Blast is a deadly combo. It’s easy too.
- Contrary to popular belief, Lightning Flash is not necessary!! This is especially true if dueling a Thief who can teleport to you after wasting your LF. Thieves catch up to you no matter what so it’s best to have a stun breaker instead of LF. I would take Armor of Earth, Mist Form, and Arcane Blast or Arcane Shield.
- When swapping to Air attunement make sure the Thief isn’t dodging or blocking. Your attack will go right down the drain.
I’m sure there are more tips but that’s all I will say for now.
The Druid Stone achievements are a good step forward to staying in the new maps by being rewarded IMO. I think that if anet made each collection timegated but instead of doing the same thing over and over (Hearts) it would be something new, that would excite players and have people anticipate what’s next in it.
Legendaries will likely stay forever so you have all the time in the world to get them. Save up gold from doing casual on-the-go stuff. Spotted a rich iron vein? Mine it quickly and move on. My attitude towards gw2 is play casual, have fun. No need to develop stress over it… The sad part is a lot of people have “completionist” mentality where they absolutely must get everything. A worse habit is getting everything right as it’s released. New map? I need to get everything day one so I don’t have to worry about it later!
Cool thing is, these things stay forever. Achievements, once done, will never need to be touched again. Make these moments memorable, not done in a whizz. Sure, it’s nice to have all that flair, and if you’re in the AP leaderboard game it’s perfectly understandable to catch up on achievements, but if you’re an “average” player there’s no need to grind your way out to be first in everything.
Some cheap advice if you’re frustrated is to contemplate a lil, then just drop the game off a bit. Take breaks and leave GW2 for a while, until nostalgia settles in and the game’s been updated with new stuff.

Hipster mes strikes again!

What I was aiming with this build was to be healing others using mantra skills often while providing support benefits such as stun breaks, stab, condi cleansing, and raw healing. This build also fits to provide slow on interrupts, and blind enemies too.
I tried Chaos and I felt it wasn’t fit for this type of build. Dueling provides an extra mantra charge so you have extra support. The sustain of Dueling is nearly the same as Chaos for this build since you won’t be running Signet of Insp. It’s a support-burst build meaning you walk in and blast away your mantra charges / blinds / slows repeat. You have fairly low protection uptime due to no Chaotic Dampening which is why I chose Rune of Earth to try to close that gap.
I’d just like to say my core bunker Guardian build is amazing, I’ve been playing with it for two months now and haven’t flinched since. Just make sure you save your condi cleanses or else you’ll have trouble surviving.
The only class I’ve seen that was able to out condi-cleanse a condi mes was Ele with DS + Auramancer, and in some cases Guardian.
Mesmers have neat condi cleansing so against Necromancers they have 0 issues. The thing about Mesmers is that they constantly apply huge stacks of confusion and torment coupled with doom and in some cases bleed from geomancy, as well as vuln, immob, and cripple.
That’s the thing. You dodge shatter number one. You take Scepter 3. You dodge shatter two. Then three. Then you get hit from torment from scepter 2. Then you get inmobilized, shattered, recovering.
Eventually you run out of dodges and these illusions keep harassing you because you can’t outrun them. With chronophantasma and illusionary reversion this is pretty ridiculous.
Swiftness isn’t too bad honestly, as it actually allows counterplay. Your typical condi mesmer has a countless stream of shatters at your doorstep. This is coming from someone who’s extensively played Sword/Torch + Scepter/Shield condi mes. I feel bad for people I duel =/
A PvP only nerf where superspeed changes to swiftness. It’s impossible to outrun the shatter at its current state. Against condi mesmers this is especially really detrimental.
Tempest gave Overloads in exchange for less attunement dancing. Sounds like this exchanges 2 elements for having access to two elements at once (sans Staff/Trident) and the Fusion skills. Sounds interesting but I’m also wondering how Fresh Air fits into all of this.
As you do not need to use overloads you can still attunement dancing. And as they added in a utility line that is good and a ok wepon tempest is simply an ele +1.
Well Tempest is supposed to replace Arcane, since Arcane offers extension to attunements as well as Tempest. Without Arcane you can’t “dance” as much because Arcane provides a slightly reduced CD on attunements, and it also offers Fury and boons on attunement swap. Water is used for restoration of your character, Earth is used for durability, Air is used for mobility and timed attacks, and Fire is used for offense.
Generally it isn’t a good idea to take Tempest with Arcane because you just get two Attunement-enhancing specializations which is a wasted opportunity for offense or defense or what-have-you.
Because of the above, you get generally less amount of attunement “dancing”.
It got leaked a while ago, looks pretty cool. Surprised about the legend.
Give Elementalists wells and an amulet with concentration + vitality and staff will instantly become amazing
The Wayfarer’s Henge. It starts from the Druid Stone backpiece, which unlocks a collection for the next back which unlocks another collection for the third back, which finally unlocks the collection for the presumably ascended backpiece “The Wayfarer’s Henge”.
