Mesmer is a pain to fight, but its based primary on skill rather than what class you play. Each class plays differently with their own plus and minuses (ranger having the worst minus however due to pet issues). In retrospect 1v1 against any class is possible but it is determined based on player skill.

I dont know how long you have gone, but yes. living story has more permanent content to it.

Last update: a new worldboss, simular in difficulty to Tequatl (after the revamp in september). This is here to stay.

Before that, toxic off spring around the world that are here to stay as well as a nice redecoration off Kessex hills with some new and more challenging mobs. all here to stay.

Before that they replaced path fw-fw in TA with a new level 80 path that is permanent and is pretty challenging (no easy money though it takes time and good skills to do it).

Yes, living story still provides temporary content, but it is adding new permanent content too and it is atleast a lot more then just a small town (cragstead) where nothing is going on. Ow, and fractals got a redesing, with a come back for some temporary content (molten alliance duingeon, aetherblade dungeon). Basicly they added 5 new fractals
1: first part of the aetherblade dungeon
2: final bossfight of the aetherblade dungeon
3: first part of the molten alliance dungeon
4: final boss fight of the molten alliance dungeon
5: as promised by Ellen kiel a totally new fractal showing the destruction of the thumova reactor in metrica province.

Also in due time, they are expanding the WvW maps iwht the edge of the mist, it will be an overflow map (so you can play WvW while you are in a queue for the regular maps) but at launch it will be the living story map (dunno how they will do that, but I suspect that at launch they have a living story version and when it has ended it will be the new ’WvW map, or something simular)

wow nice, ty man ill play for sure. oh and tell me about classes balancing….can u actually play 1vs1 in a fair balanced fight between any classes? for example, nothing is OP and the class balance isn’t based of some rock, paper, scissors aspect in which one classes overpowers the other completely ETC ETC….

We are getting a new permanent world boss and a new permanent map within two weeks. This is certainly a nice start into the new year. I do not expect them to keep going like this, but there is probably some permanent content in all living story patches.

ok man that’s cool, and ik they r doin good in the spvp maps and they said they will add new pvp modes BUT what about dungeons….we been fARMing the SAME 8 dungeons for almost 2 YEARSSSS…..well almost 1 1/2 years X). anyways im not the grinding type but still….don’t u think we see new dungeons and things in the grinding world map. dude I mean common……..its a little silly now, there tower was cool and now what? disappeared and never to be seen again….its annoying.

There’s plenty of permanent dungeons and other contact. Living story just adds some temporary content that changes every month.

so how is temporary content VS. permanent content going? whats the big difference, anything new? like for example, new dungeons that don’t get taken away and stuff like that. pretty much I want a clear explanation of perma content VS. tempo content. which is thriving, is there at least more than ONE perma content….stuff like that.

ALSO , I logged into the mists the other day…..the pvp rooms were full but the outside area AKA the area where people run around or AFK had few players…..tell me about the community

yea ur cute…..but what i stated is an actual issue. playing a thief is not really about skill unless its same build thief vs thief. the fact still remains that this needs to happen so GW2 pvp can be taken more seriously.

its very simple…..a good support class that doesnt do much damage at all, but its great for support (obviously stating the damage thing cuz we dont want OP classes). and please super nuke thiefs because thiefs are pointlessly over powered to the point where tanking them means nothing and damage vs damage means nothing due to their constant stealthing. i understand this game has no way to being able to allow actual 1vs1 fights because classes are super unbalanced but hey, at least make it so there is a good balance for group pvp. if you ever decide to balance classes enough for a 1vs1 pvp mode, ill be happy, but w.e.

So the Tower will survive as long as players on each server allow it. This means that the Tower could be destroyed on some servers but still up on others. Truly dynamic content, this

What do you not get about a living world if some one dose something and if there is any true meaning to it then it MUST changes something. The old way is to just reset something over and over and over never changing all your work means nothing in mmorpgs like that. This way there is room for something new every time and not to have old rotting content that in the end no one will play after a few months of it being out.

The thing is if you just simply reset every thing you do once you done it in a game where you do not have progression then what IS the point? In mmorpg you where reward for farming endlessly with better gear so you could fight harder mobs in GW2 you do not have this. So GW2 is story driven for the story to feel real to the players you need to have some mean full outcome to the player action. If you just simply have something start over once you complete it then the meaning is removed.

That is more of a players and your own problem you must deal with. If you feel that you must complete every thing 100% why are you able to waist your time playing a video game? How can you not complete every thing in real life that is a great deal more time limited then any thing in this game? If you play this game or any game purely to complete it then you have comply missed the point of playing a GAME.

i am not talkin about better gear. i think gear grinding is dumb. instead…..they should replace it with costumes and so on, but temporary content is dumb

Hello everyone, I just want to know if its a good idea to introduce GW2 to my 10 yrs. old son. I’ve been playing this game for the last 10 months and I really liked it. My son sees I played and he seems to be interested in it. He usually plays fps games. I’m sure he will like the asura engie class. Im afraid he will be too addicted to it like me. So what do you think, go or no go?

make sure ur son stays in school and learns to live things like science and other things. dont get him into videogames too much….a little yes because it does help develop a child’s creativity along with other things. i would suggest playing games like zelda with ur son, and play the game with him to help solve puzzles and beat bosses. a game like this does not provide and real complexity for a developing mind. unless you want to do jumping puzzles with him all day….

no fun permanent content.
no pvp development.
no interesting story development besides your own character.
no instances….just poorly-made dungeons that get boring after a few runs.
very simple non-competitive pvp.
too many ideas with zero imagination and zero organization.
no artistic value.

honestly, the list goes on and on, so ima leave it at that.

does permanent content cost more money? lol i dont kno to be honest, but this is BAD marketing and everyone knows this. ehat do you want, small perma content every month with 1 BIG perma content update per year (or couple of months), or temporary content that isnt worth anything except an item that no1 will ever be able to get if they arent even playing at that point n time? lol the answer is obvious, GW2 is failing at acheiving a living world, and instead they are making a bad marketing world.

Everything won’t be permanent, as just this next month Mad King Thorn returns. And Wintersday won’t be far behind. I’m sure some things, in the future, will be permanent, and some things temporary to keep the Living Story moving along.

dats a game killer. GW2 is obviously a PVP game, berly worth playing its PVE i wont lie….its fun but def not long-term fun. idk man GW2 has too many problems. i LIKE the game, but they arent doing it man they jsut arent, i came back a bit ago to give it another try and nothing, i just quit again. i wont advertise the game im playing now, but its free…..and free download :S….and still not bored of it at all.

no it doesnt, if you would have taken at least college writing you would understand that a bunch of sentences with good vocabulary isnt a meaningful one and its looked down upon. a lot of people mask their lack of thought with good vocab. dont expect me to sit here and give proper grammar and sentence structure, but at least u can see that what i say has thought and meaning into it. unlike….everything i been reading. could u guys stay on the subject please?

What is the logic behind this balance? I’ve been repeatedly killed by thieves in 2, yes count them TWO hits in WvW tonight. What is the logic behind giving a class the ability to immobilize me, then 2-shot me, all in the span of less than one second, from stealth. I’m running full level 80 exotic soldier (PVT) gear, 21k hp.

lol balance updates are never really balance updates. “playing the class i like” doesnt exist.

Look, Adry, if the game bores you and you can’t deal with the endgame here, there are plenty of other games where they have the endgame that you want. Just please stop trying to force this game into those other games when they already exist. We don’t need MMO’s to all be carbon copies of each other.

Endgame doesn’t mean, or have to mean, the exact same endgame as found in other games. There is plenty of room for progression mechanics in GW2 that do not have to revolve around what has come before.

GW2 is an MMO…does that mean it’s the exact same as every other MMO?

With what you’ve said in mind. I highly urge you to read through the OP’s OP and then come back.

And with what you have said in mind, I suggest that it would be better to discuss different forms of endgame progression than to tell people to leave if they do not like it. I have done so in other threads, and don’t feel like rehashing my posts here.

Ok. Competition between players is far from being a must in PvE, more often than not it’s detrimental to the game. I also won’t bother reading your post, considering how you didn’t even bother to try to write in something slightly similar to English. Have a good day!

It’s a game, what does it mean in the long run? Nothing.

It’s meant for your enjoyment. If you can’t find enjoyment from the big things, look at all the little things. I’ve been 80 on my one char for about 8 months now and I’m still enjoying the game.

in time, once we gain max lvl, become good in pvp, and even participate in events, we begin to get bored. as we become bored, or even if we dont become bored, regardless, we question why we play this game. that goes for anything you may do in life, in due time, you begin to question your motives and reasons behind your actions. one never mindlessly continues to repeat the same daily routines without a motive. for this very reason is why a competitive nature is a must. a competitive game can keep the game alive for a while, without a problem, as the game takes advantage of this, they begin to save up for content and other things while a player is caught up or addicted in the game.

that being said, i understand that a competitive nature will change the community quite a bit, but think about it. what type of community do we have? from a player that has been playing from lvl1-80 i can tell you that whenever some1 goes to an instance/dungeon, if your not with ur guild, lol you better fit the part they need in the party or your gone, funny enough, its taken so seriously over the garbage you loot from the instances. in the end of the day, regardless of how much the developers make it competitive or not, there will always be a need to do something in record time and for maximum profit. what else do you have in GW2 for the PVE world? events, and field bosses…..for that you just walk in and do it, and there will be a lot of others doing the same thing, a party is not required, therefore regardless of the competitive nature, this aspect will not be affected unless the developers would change the way we do events/field bosses.

lets move on to SPVP, if it was anywhere near competitive we would actually feel satisfied with our progress in the long run. yes we like to own in pvp, thats nice, but what then? whats the point in the long run? there is none. from what i see SPVP doesnt get any money and always stays the same, besides your usual balance updates and trait updates, but whats so bad about getting a monthly map? or new weapons? or new pvp modes? yes its nice always having to capture a point…..but what about a flag? or just kills? why not make a mode thats based on kills instead of caps? keep the cap game lol, but add more game modes. the environment wont change lol, people will still not party with bad players, other will go join games randomly, while others focus on 1vs1 or 2vs2. it wont change, the atmosphere, believe it or not, wont change, except that you will have A LOT more people trying to improve and wanting to win, giving them, and yourself motive to continue playing and beating other teams/players.

at the end of the day, adding motive to the things you do is what makes you want to repeat the same thing over and over….yes gettign rich for a legendary is cute…..and accessories, but like i said, in the end of the day, thats not enough motive to continue. even if you get all the legendary weapons and accessories, yes yes im sure you can name things to do, but lol like i said, no real motive, just meaningless and uninteresting shores with no core value.

you cant respond by stating something based on “feeling” plz dont. if you will respond, respond by stating your real opinion after you read this, i dont want simple thinking. no dont try to hide lack of thought with good grammar and vocabulary. try to give a relevant comment(s).

WvW = make a huge zerk and own every1.

anything other than a huge zerk in WvW = a waste of time, u will get mindlessly owned by zerks.

SPVP = the same playing type over and over, no flag capture, no cool creative stuff…..ehhhhh i love the mechanics of PVP and the updates on balancing…..they should add a gooooood map every month since they refuse to adc GvG and other PVP types, but o well.

And once again, after claiming you are not attempting to start any trouble, you are stating hyperbolic opinions as facts and expecting people to not react negatively to them. You really need to grow up.

What I have noticed is that it makes a great first impression. Then reality slowly sets in on people.

I watch how opinions of the game have changed over time, especially from posters who make topics like these. Not everyone stops gushing about it, but it seems most change their tune given ample time for the honeymoon phase to wear off.

Because it doesn’t have the same type of/degree of required grind that other games do. That’s all. And because it’s 10 months old.

I see the same thing in almost every MMO forum six months in, eight months in. People run out of content and get bored and start complaining.

Doesn’t have anything to do with the game. This forum could be copy and pasted from any MMORPG forum I’ve ever been on.

yup, lol just yup…..a lot of those games dont have much money to work with, but yea yea.

WvW = make a huge zerk and own every1.

anything other than a huge zerk in WvW = a waste of time, u will get mindlessly owned by zerks.

SPVP = the same playing type over and over, no flag capture, no cool creative stuff…..ehhhhh i love the mechanics of PVP and the updates on balancing…..they should add a gooooood map every month since they refuse to adc GvG and other PVP types, but o well.

And once again, after claiming you are not attempting to start any trouble, you are stating hyperbolic opinions as facts and expecting people to not react negatively to them. You really need to grow up.

you sound confused, i never said i was stating facts…..i think i will stop responding to your comments if you cant manage to say anything worthwhile.

I mean if you’re not trying to be constructive then I just dont understand why you are on the forums. If you have no hope then why bother. I just feel like deep down you do care and hope for the future of the game. lol. BUT

I feel as though they didn’t add enough to really bring you BACK. until an expansion or a crazy overhaul comes out. I dunno something nuts… I dont think its going to change your mind too much. nothing revolutionary especially in the pvp aspect. still pretty much the same. anything they add relates to the pve content. but I think with the new bazaar thing there is something pvp new with it at least. If I were you I would probably just wait for an expansion. stay posted until mid-late july. I think that when they will give you a let know of the next 6 months.

Considering he was the only one that replied, I didn’t have much else to go off of. Not that I was going to take it at that and stop checking for other feedback.

Basically what i’m interested in is more to work towards then skins and stuff. I know GW2 initially had the no end-game mindset, I was curious as to whether or not that’s changed.

I liked sPvP, but it was just too repetitive. It was fun, but repetition makes it lose the fun if I don’t have something to work towards, other then the random different graphic pvp items you got from the boxes.
Last I played though, they hadn’t implemented the teams/ranked pvp, which intrigues me.

Anyways, no need to start a flamefest. I really could care less which of you know more about GW2 or who is more qualified… I didn’t ask for opinions, no offense. I’m wanting to know if there’s more to work towards and entertain me then there was the first few months after the game launched.

i agree completely. to respond to the last couple sentences…..no, not really. same thing different short short short story.

Ummmmmm. If you dont like or play the game then I dont understand why you are wasting time on the forums… It sounds like you have given up. And they added plenty before the dragon bash and they are adding new things every few weeks… but it has not been permanent but they have openly stated that they are trying to go away from that and move one to more permanent new content. To be fair they are honestly experimenting right now. seeing what works and what doesnt work.

To be honest at this point if you didnt like it the first time around then I dont think you will like it anymore now. Personally i get plenty of enjoyment out of it BUT if I got bored I would gladly stop. Considering I dont have to pay a subscription and can return at any time if I wish. And maybe an expansion that they add will be more your style. More power to you. But to say that Anet have been sitting on their bums and not giving us anything is just wrong because they are putting out content… Maybe not as fast as everyone wishes… Maybe its not all great but hey. They are at least trying. at least a little

once again, another person that speaks of something i already gave my opinion on. yes ur right i gave up…..i got bored. sorry? lol? anyways, like i said takes deep breath ik they added thing b4 dragon bash….like i said, its a pattern and ik what to usually expect now. have fun playing the weekly content, they promised it will become more creative, but then again they promised so much…..so very much.
