The dragon we saw being burned in trailer

Also, there is nothing to say Primordus, Kralk and Jormag could crush the other Dragons. We already saw how destructive Mordy was and his weakness was inside the Dream/mind. Combined with his enormous physical reach within the Maguuma and beyond, he would be difficult to crush.

Zhaitan was heavily weakened when we encountered him and never saw him at his peak, so it is difficult to say how powerful he could be, beyond what the LS3 lore journals showed that he defeated a powerful Mursaat force when they attacked (can’t remember if that was with the Forgotten or not). Lets not forget his rising brought with it an entire landmass.

We do not know how powerful Primordus was in comparison, all we saw outside his dormant state was the bloated form in Draconis Mons where he had grown massively in size and power after gorging on the extra magic there (my assumption anyway).

We know nothing about the DSD apart from it is out there, possibly soaking up magic unchecked. It could be the most powerful. And Kralk was last seen flying off after nearly being defeated. Has he soaked up more magic given his distance? Is he weakened? That we don’t know either.

TDLR: I wouldn’t put much thought into who is stronger than who with the DRagons. They all seem roughly on par when you take out each others mitigating circumstances/weaknesses

You made some strong points. Regardless I do it based on awakenings and energy that the game leads me to assume they consumed.

Again, conceptual art like these do not take into account size, scale, power etc. It is a well used, tried and tested technique used in trailers, prophecy stills and set up artwork in games and other forms of media. GW2 uses it in the core campaign showing a considerably smaller and different looking Zhaitan in cutscenes.

I still think it is one of the ED’s but in a generic, symbolic representation of one being killed/attacked by Balths minions rather than being in any way accurate. I doubt even a Lieuitenant could be killed by a spear thrust in its face.

Well okay. I understand what you mean, but eh.

Either it is a lieutenant or it’s conceptual and not to scale and only represents them killing an Elder Dragon. I personally think the latter and it is meant to look prophetic rather than them actually having killed one.

But it’s not an elder dragon. Could be a leuitenant.

It could be an Elder Dragon. Conceptual and prophetic artwork does not take always take size and scale into things as it is representational.

Yea but when you take power of kralk into consideration, and his size, there is no way. The machine broke, so I don’t see how Balthazar could drain kralk’s power enough to kill him. Now remember, the big baddies aren’t like zhaitan and mordy. Kralk, primo, and jormag, can crush Mordy and zhaitan with one hand. These are the big three, even their elements show how ancient they are. Woohoo so zhaitan controlled the dead and mordy made grass attack us, these guys are at a different playing field. These 3 dragons destroy everything and anything that is within range without them even launching an attack. These are dragons that destroy and rearrange Tyria just by flapping their wings. The elder dragons we fought so far were basically babies that sucked up the drops of energy that the big 3 didn’t. Soooooo I highly doubt that was kralk.

If you mean it’s Gleam, glints other kid then eh….I’m on the fence on that.

I doubt it, not from a it’s not possible scenario but from a death like that off screen holds less impact for a party that would actually gain to see it in Aurene.

Nooo nooo guys I’m not saying it happened, I’m saying it could happen in the future. The trailer could be a future prediction of the eye.

It wasn’t kralk at all. The size of kralk is vastly larger, it wasn’t glint for glint is dead. It couldn’t be any other elder dragon because the dragon seemed to be made of some sort of crystals. So who?? There are two options here, it’s either aurene or glints other child (forgot name). As we see now aurene is starting to grow crystals, when aurene gets older, she will become more alike to kralk and glint, but obviously not as large as kralk, since in our history no creation of an elder dragon has ever been as big as an elder dragon; mass and energy and so on. Basically aurene can die, so get ready. Those are my predictions what do you guys think?

Edit: what I meant by mass and energy is that dragons growth seems to be correlated with the amount of energy they consume. For a dragon to create a champion or anything, it takes energy. Normally the energy embedded in the creation correlates with its size. Therefore no create of an elder dragon can be as big as it because it would require an extensive Amount of the dragons energy to do so, which could either kill it or cause it to go back into its dormant state.

Suggestion: Make Guild Sub-Divisions Possible

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

For example, a branched division in the guild for long-range players, and a different one for support, and a different one for melee. See what I’m saying? There can be so much more proper structuring, labeling, and re-labeling of things. It would make guilds less messy. Usually everyone in guilds just do their own thing, this would make guilds more legit and goal oriented.

I don’t understand the issue you hope to resolve by dividing a guild. What sort of structuring isn’t possible now using ranks or e.g. Discord? What things need labeling or re-labeling? How would this change the essential 5000+-year old fundamentals of organizing communities of humans?

Lol not dividing a guild, just divisions within the guild to create organization. Basically more guild options to personalize your guild and organize it.

Kind of like guild ranks.

Lol I JUST answered that question. Scroll up to see my response to that.

You got ranks just lable 1 ranged 1 support and 1 melee there you got subdivisions

But then I would need to move the classes within the guild under those commanders, and I can’t.

This game doesnt have hack and slash, mindless auto attack without moving implemented in the game. For all max level content, it will be difficult, its how it is intended to be. Sometimes they nerf a few things so its not overly difficult to the point where its annoying, but it will always be harder than the average MMO.

Game is absolutely still worth picking up. I still play it about as much if not more than GW2. That said I agree with Mazut in the if you’re just after the achievements dont bother. I’m not even sure you could accomplish it in months anymore, it literally might take a year plus of grinding unless you have absolutely nothing else to do but play Guild Wars 10+ hours a day.

Well I want the fiery sword more than the title. Will the sword be easily obtainable?? It’s an end goal, honestly if the end goal wouldn’t effect gw2 then I wouldn’t play it.

Balthazar Rip-Off

Adry.7512

So I was having a conversation today I figured I would share with the Guild Wars community.

I was talking about the new expansion earlier today and apparently Balthazar is a “blatant rip-off” of Ragnaros from WoW.

Can anyone explain to me in what way they are a rip-off? Other than the obvious fire powers I don’t see in what way they could be considered similar in any way.

EDIT: When asked the person responded with;

“He’s huge, has a GIANT FLAMING LEGENDARY WEAPON, summon FLAMING MINIONS OF DOOM! Is ANNOYED THAT HE’S NOT THE BEST OF HIS KIND! he TAKES HIS FIGHT TO THE MORTAL REALM….Ragnaros ripoff.”

They also added “I love GW2 but I just recognize an obvious rip-off when I see it!”

HAHAHAHAHAHA! Does this person not know when GW1 was released?? There is no comparison, GW2 doesn’t care to copy WOW. Last time I checked WOW’s new Xpac is wannabe GW2 101. The god is clearly inspired my ares god of war.

I have 5 accounts. Two full price, the other three cheap on Amazon, only the main account HoT and PoF.

The only negative is the distraction of spending time on them. The game rewards people who dedicate their time to one account and/or one character. Of course, if someone spends enough time in-game, I suppose it doesn’t matter too much, but that’s not me.

That’s fine, anet still banks from that, and get login ratings. But what kind of distraction are you talking about? Because I see no distraction in having alt accounts just for login rewards and extra bank space.

I always wondered though whether or not Anet cares about stuff like this. I hope not, because like you said, it’s supporting them.

As the title states, I plan to buy 9 copies of GW2 whenever the site puts them on special. When you think about it, thats around 13 per copy depending on the percentage cut, which is pretty good. My reason is for the Login rewards. If i have a total of 10 copies, thats 10 months worth of login rewards in only one month. TO ME, thats super worth it, it helps support GW2 and it benefits me in farming and such, basically it pays off in the long run. What do you guys think and why?

okay you guys are so full of questions, and this to me is confusing. I dont understand how something can twist everyone upside down. Its simple, rework the timing of the events so they execute on a timely manner, from right to left. Those are the veryyyyyy easy part, and no I dont need to work in Anet to figure out how complicated something is. Anet has Competent developers and im sure techniques are worldwide with obvious different small details. Now the more complicated thing would be a rework on the far left map, which imo needs a difficulty boost with a new map boss. Look im not here to enlighten you, sorry….it can be done and imo it should. It will boost core game gameplay, and give free players more incentive to buy when they see how impressive Anet can make gameplay experience….plus many other factors that I wont explain.

I’m going to go out on a limb and posit that this would be a venture that would not only be time-consuming, unneccessary and costly, but would also invalidate content that is specific to each map, so it’s unlikely to ever see implementation. Just my 2 coppers.

I knew someone would say something like this. Fortunately, you’re wrong. It’s a quality of life and it’s as costly or a lot less than any quality of life they have previously done. No revamps are needed, no special coding, nothing really. Just take away a few waypoints and merge the map server, very simple, fast, cheap work. I understand that you’re the average joe that constantly pops up the time consuming money consuming line on every topic, but lol it’s not, and at the end of the day money and time are needed for many things, very necessary things.

Since you have recently announced the Xpac and shown us those huge maps, could you please merge a few of the core maps?? It seems so pointless to have some of these maps separated. for example, strais of devastation, malchor’s leap, and cursed shore can all be easily merged into one long map. it improves player experience, especially since the maps are so small.

One thing that really really turns me away from this game is they made it to a new level of any game of being overly flashy. I hate during battles there is so much flash going around with multiple people I can’t even see what’s really happening or even the enemy.

I was also extremely excited for lineage eternal until I saw the videos of open world events being the exact same issue and you can’t see what’s going on.

Why on earth have they not yet added an option to turn off effects from other players outside of your party?

They need to add a checkbox in settings that turns off flashy animations. This is one of the many reasons they can’t go pro as well….no one except the players can tell wth is going on with all the flash and lights.

As a human race, mostly we only have loyalty to our own selfish desires and then mask it to seem as if we care about anything other than ourselves. It’s all psychological and human nature of course, so I understand that “we all want anet to prosper” but “we don’t want to help them if they don’t do this and this and make all my dreams come true”….riiiight. Here’s an idea, try to overcome those very primative human instincts, which we all have and all battle within ourselves, and support anet. Yow, I mean, I’m as cynical as anyone and don’t have any faith in humanity, but that first line there… yeesh. I mean, human beings are social creatures and while we may be selfish, I don’t think everyone is loyal only to themselves and that kindness and altruism are only masks for that. I mean, people do genuinely care about other people. Even total kittens can still care for another person. I hope this isn’t how you feel.

As to the point, I buy stuff with gems, and I like it, so it’s all good here.

Historically, I have been extremely supportive of GW2. I started a guild here based around fellow refugees from my WoW guild – and I pushed hard to get them to follow me here. I even kept my WoW subscription alive for a year just so I could continue to encourage additional friends to make the leap to this game. I’ve been active across most social media and encouraged a lot of friends to come to GW2 in the past few years.

Even now, my guild remains very active – with more than 250 unique members logging on in the past two weeks (all from a guild that started with 9 members back at launch).

However, I rarely talk about the wonder of GW2 any more. Things have changed. Specifically, two trends have changed my perspective on the game and severely muted my enthusiasm and desire to proselytize for it today (neither of which will come as any surprise to people that know me).

The first was the uninspired and unfriendly way they chose to implement raiding into end game. The lack of such blatant elitism (and I know the weight that word carries) was a core reason so many of my friends came to GW2 in the first place.

The second is the seeming abandonment of support for guild and community focused activities. The last new guild mission was four years ago. The new maps seem to be tailored for a bunch of random single players rather than for groups of friends. And, while there have been some new decorations for guild halls, many features they once touted (larger instanced PvP area for example) seem to be just as abandoned as missions.

So, while I still enjoy playing (primarily because of my many friends here), I find it very hard to recommend the game to anyone the way I did in years past. The lack of support for in game communities (most notably guilds) combined with the focusing of resources on exclusionary cookie cutter raid content have simply muted my excitement for the game’s future.

As always, though, this is just me. I am sure there are many who feel very differently.

My friend the game isn’t without flaws. It has a lot of room for improvement, but it’s a great company with a caring staff who really care about the game. There isn’t much of that. If you think about it, most of guild wars 2 expansion features are due to players suggestions and ideas along with the developers ideas. What is the game lacking?? PVP, which I imagine will be fixed in xpac 2, and wvw which they said they will fix….soon. Additionally, this game lacks a lot of quality of life and minor details, that can be added in the future. The point is to continue supporting until the company stop supporting us. That’s how it works, they care about the game? They’re passionate? Okay, then support inspire of the facts. Keep encouraging change over and over year after year, INSPITE OF. Continue it until Anet stops caring, stops supporting us, stops being fair.

Wrong game, mate. Guild Wars has always had no subscription fee, that’s their model, it’s their unique shtick, and that’s why so many filthy casuals keep popping gems and buying expansions. Make it a monthly fee, even a small one, and you’re going to outright lose a huge player base.

An active player who buys gems in batches a few times a year is better than a player who quits and goes to another game.

Hahahaha but why filthy?? I became a casual when I started my family….and work full time plus school…I am so busy I don’t even have friends except for maybe 2-3 who stuck around and I can’t even hangout with them. Casuals aren’t filthy lmaooo. There’s a reason why they’re casuals. Anyways you do have a very strong point. One of the main things that draw players in is how you can return at any time and pick up from where you left off. The point of the thread was to say that hey if you complain so much, then pay for a fee sort of thing, but not saying it’s a good idea to do so.

Use popular farming spots, use multiple Alts for mats, but the game multiple times when it’s 50% off. Imagine having 10 accounts, 10 months worth of dailies in one month. Technically you can make massive bank and multiple legendarios using this method. You wouldn’t be doing anything elligal due to the fact that you hold certain rights to all of those accounts and you’re not using them to scam nor sell gold, it’s all for personal use.

10 accounts at 50% ($150). Let’s say it takes 15 minute to complete dailies, that’s a total of 150 minutes (2 and a half hour), to complete. 2g each daily, x10, is just 20g per day. Doing it for 10 months straight is somewhere near 300 days, which equal roughly 600g x10 accounts, it’s 6,000g (enough for MAYBE 2 legendaries? In 10 months…) That’s a waste of money and time. Specially when you have farms that can make 20/30g an hour, less effort, and more fun in a single account, plus extra mats, achievements, etc. And of course, more time to spare, enjoy the game, play something else, or do whatever you want with your free time.

you didnt get what i said at all. DAILY LOG IN REWARDS! in 1 month youll have 10 months worth of rewards. LMAO forget dailies! Dungeon runs plus daily login rewards. MADDDDDDDD bank in 1 month. its 100% worth it

Edit: sorry I know what i said wasnt clear, there i fixed it. Daily login rewards is what i meant. in 1 month youll have HUNDREDS of mats and mystic coins simply by logging in. and dungeon runs with a guild….forget it….BANK!

Use popular farming spots, use multiple Alts for mats, but the game multiple times when it’s 50% off. Imagine having 10 accounts, 10 months worth of login rewards in one month. Technically you can make massive bank and multiple legendarios using this method. You wouldn’t be doing anything elligal due to the fact that you hold certain rights to all of those accounts and you’re not using them to scam nor sell gold, it’s all for personal use.

Mounts would be great, but not your average type of mount, I want a gw2 twist to it.

It’s cool, if it was a quick project. Considering the amount of time put into it, it really sucks. But hey, maybe the animation and effects are going to blow us away. If it doesn’t though….then you guys did an awful job, sorry. The heavy armor seems to be the coolest.

I disagree that character bound masteries would have been a better approach. All it would have done is spread out the grind somewhat. But eventually it would require more grind to get all of your characters their masteries than it currently requires.

Agreed.
