Spent mine on obsidian shards. Just remember to spend those tokens before the patch…. I can hear the screaming already from those who will get caught and unable to cash them in because they didn’t check….
I would like to see more giants available to kill. Not necessarily in the same area or something you would be able to farm easily but give us more than the three locations we have available to us now.
Brisban Broken Golem event, while nice it spawns multiple easy to slay giants depending on number of folk you have, is a pain to wait in between events and it is even longer if someone helps the golem succeed. And gods help you if the event sticks which it seems to do a lot any more. At least the Diessa giant spawns fairly often and there are things to do while you wait right in the area so you can keep an eye on the town. I never got the champ giant in Harathi – there was never anyone in the area pre-mega server. I may go check to see if that has since changed.
I am at 144 giants and not really dedicating time to pursue this achievement unless I have time to devote to the respawns in Brisban since that currently appears to be the only way to get enough multiple giants to make small progresses.
Please add a couple of more giants elsewhere in the world that we can get or at least make some of the Risen giants count towards the achievement.
But what is this map update of brisban wildlands whith festival update? I have not seen it.
Me neither, do tell.
Since I haven’t seen this answered yet, there was a part of the world map for Brisban that was added. You can see the edge of it if you unfog Toxal Bog and Aurora’s Remains, but dat diving uncovered the full of it. Here is one version:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/archive/e/e4/20140607172200!Brisban_Wildlands_map.jpg
Southeast corner. A pond, a small structure, and a very faint path to the edge of the map.
Was that a Scarab at 1 minute into the video?
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Moss_ScarabDevourer.
You mean southwest corner of the map don’t you instead of southeast? I also see a faint path out of Aurora’s Remains in the upper left of that part of the map. Should be interesting to find out. Good find.
I hadn’t really been to Brisban seriously in quite some time, so I hadn’t been around to see it. I’ll go take a look tonight.
That’s something you can’t actually get to though, eh?
I have only superficially explored those areas before. Just looking at Konig Des Todes’ (great name btw!) map you can see there appears to be some areas with faint paths into the Brisban area from the supposed new area I am hoping we get to explore. The faint path on the map that leads to Aurora’s Remains seems to be where you fight the champ Demagogue. Not sure how that will play into things since from the Brisban side that area is locked until you follow Less Longbow and help the crystal runner to open that area. May be that defeating the Demagogue opens something else… Time will tell I guess. Or it will be a red herring on the other side leading you to something you need to go to Brisban to find. Will be interesting in the end to see how this plays out.

Oh noes!!! Not the Zephyrites!!!
Possibly that is where the investigation starts with
The bandits in Brisban because I cannot imagine Mordremoth coming out that soon
I surely hope some survive and come back for the Festival of the Four Winds again. Maybe they were attacked because of the skills they have mastered…
Character. Which is annoying if you get overzealous and learn a recipe only to remember another of your characters is the one with that crafting profession leveled up.
Definitely. That is why I wish the recipes were account bound. It is not like you can use them unless whatever character in that crafting profession has leveled up to use it anyway. Since the crafting materials are account bound, so should the recipes.
LOL! You know I thought of that but never tried because I assumed you had to stay in one area…. great tip! Definitely going to try that on the next avie I am leveling up.
The cool down on speed while in stealth is too long as well. There is not really any good way to get to a safe spot without at least two bursts of speed.
I did find a bit on the wiki that was somewhat helpful, though, this is a truly painful quest to complete….

Thanks for the info. I would rather be patient and wait until you figure it out and get it right rather than go the “are we there yet???? route.” I think you guys have been working on it and appreciate the time and effort you are putting in to get this resolved. There are so many other things in this game to do so I will be working on those goals while you work on yours. Thanks again.
I am absolutely appalled by ArenaNet’s wanton behavior with my subscription monies. When I walk into a small, convenience store that I’ve purchased a 75 cent oatmeal creme pie from in the past, I expect the store owner to be on hand when I assert that the inventory needs to change and the aisles rearranged. That’s just basic economy and ArenaNet is just clearly not operating with all their marbles.
I may consider the possibility of thinking about the chance of cancelling my subscription. What do you have to say to that, TrashNet?
I can think of another hugely anticipated game that just came out and is having MAMMOTH issues right now. Kind of puts this issue in GW2 in perspective for me…. I am taking a “patience, Grasshopper” attitude. Things could be way worse. At least we know GW2 devs are working on it
Unbelievable! The logic of most being forced to wait while a small portion of the players are receiving errors is just ridiculous. I sympathize for you guys waiting, but in the real world (to whoever decided on this delay) , you’d be broke or run out of business making a company policy/decision like this.
Think about it —- A few customers genuinely qualified for a rebate on their insurance, but due to a staffing error did not receive it. So, all customers who qualified and are expecting/have gotten the check don’t get it or can’t cash it until those customers get resolved..which could take months
We don’t really know if this is a small portion of players that are affected unless you have access to info rest of us don’t. I suspect it is more widespread, hence the delay. I would rather they fix the problem and then issue the rewards en masse vs. just compounding a confusing issue. Staffing error is NOT what this is so your argument is not valid in that direction. This is not the real world so our delay is a virtual one and not important compared to a real life.
Impatience to get the rewards is simply an, “I gotta have it now” mentality. (though Season 1 folk who did not get theirs yet have a very valid complaint) Once the rewards are issued, though, I can see the complaining threads about how it is not enough, not what they wanted yada, yada, yada.
Hubby got his and I didn’t so I have to wait. I am glad at least Mark Katzbach posted to let us know there was an issue and that they are working on it. Yeah, I want my reward for the work I put in but I want it when they get it fixed.
Ditto on no chest. We placed 4th in Silver. Hubby says he got his chest. Nada for me….sigh.
Bugged – no chest for me either yet. Hubby got his but no tickets.
I would love to be able to trade in the gauntlet tickets for either sanctum boxes or tokens since I am not interested in doing the gauntlet. Heck I would give them to someone who did if I could.
I had all the minis but one so got the panda, the mini I didn’t have and any other tokens will go towards obsidian.
Obviously we are getting a lot of crystals at the festival for some reason….
I would enjoy Boss Blitz a lot more if I had encountered more organization on my mega server. The first couple of days were great because commanders showed up and staged at each boss and it went very well. It was a lot of fun. After that I guess interest waned and now it is do one boss, die a lot (not me..lol), move on to the next etc. because bronze is good. I keep popping in looking for organized runs and hoping. Those were a LOT of fun. I think Boss Blitz is a neat thing. What amazes me is how many still have not figured out the mechanics and die, die, die and just lay there asking for their obligatory rezz…
I really enjoyed hearing what Taimi had to say. I specifically looked for her too. I would love to know more of Taimi’s backstory. It would be nice to have some sort of mini puzzle where you go to Rata Sum and other locations like a scavenger hunt seeking out information and talking to various individuals about her. Actually I would like to see as a sideline to jumping puzzles and slaying things some content where you have to figure out from one person you talked to where to go to get information or history on various things. I loved Speedy Reader and learning some more of the history. More please!
Recipes should be account bound even if crafting profession is not. You could level up your characters with the crafting but at least have access to all the recipes you have encountered on your travels. You will still have to level up to be able use those recipes.
If finishing in top 3 is required to even get this, I am out then. I have never been able to do this fast enough to place that high. They should specify that if that is a requirement, then. Otherwise just running the full course and finishing should count. I ran it twice and got no credit.
I was glad they moved some of the crystals this year – I like the variety but I found several I could not interact with.
That crystal and couple of others had no interact when you approached them. Othewise, yes, I interacted with the ones I did get (36 so far out of the 40). Some of the crystals from last year are in the same place and some are gone but that one was still around, it just had a net over it so you couldn’t drop down any more. You have to get at it from the bridge. Because it is there, I have to assume one should be able to interact with it. I found another on ground level near where the waterfalls are that was the same – no interact when you are near.
I tried several Sky Crystals that show but when you get near them they do not give any credit. One in particular is Sky Crystal #10 in Dulfy’s Guide http://dulfy.net/2013/07/08/gw2-sky-crystals-lessons-from-the-sky-achievement-guide/ where you used to be able to drop down (carefully) below to get the crystal. Now there is a net above it but you can get to the ledge and the crystal by using the walk bridge and using lightning pull from there to get to the ledge. That worked fine but the crystal appears inactive. I don’t know if this is intentional but I found several others like that. I will go back and figure out where those are as well.
When driving around town you’re wondering if you have all the POI’s for the area…
When you tell your husband that it’s going to take a while to get there because the waypoint for the store is contested XD
I am so going to use the Waypoint Contested argument for not being on time somewhere… lol.
…Programming your GPS with POI’s for your next trip…
…When you are walking in a large crowd and start referring to them as a zerg.
…When your license plate says “Tyria”
OR!!! If we could get a checklist in the worldmap where we could see a list of the zones and overall completion instead of jumping through many zones before we finanlly find the right one.
There is a checklist in the wiki though it can be hard to find:
I’ve encountered the guild in Lornar’s pass and in Fireheart Rise but did not realize there were others to find! I enjoyed the fights with them and thought they were an interesting addition to the game. I never thought to check the Wiki and now have. Very interesting and I hope we see some more of them.
Wiki says: The name Modus Sceleris is a Latin phrase that translates to “Way of Crime.”
I would love to know their back story. Maybe that could be included in some of the interactions with them at some point. I will make a point of seeking out the others now. Good find.
Obviously it is real, then. Norns are alive and well in the real world!
Would love to see video of the launch event in China. I hope to see some utube stuff up soon.
You can try this link.
http://video.sina.com.cn/l/p/1685000.html
Nice link, Belenwyn! Impressive video. I am sure our Chinese compatriots will enjoy the game as much as we have.
I hope Anet will add a bit of new content to the Festival though to change it up a bit. I am definitely looking forward to the vendors as well.
Video in https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/guild-wars-2-launches-in-china/ is sooooo beautiful! Nice blend of GW2 and live action. Makes me really anticipate the Festival of the Four Winds!
The vendor that says, “No refund.” The way she says it makes me laugh.
Don’t forget the Giant in the Toxal Bog Golum event. That one is nice because the more people there, the more giants spawn.
Check out Dulfy’s guide to that: http://dulfy.net/2013/05/13/gw2-slayer-achievements-guide/#16
If you let UNIT fail the event it does respawn quicker. Sometimes the event sticks once it gets into the Inquest Lab, though.
I haven’t done that one recently so it is good to hear it is fixed.
Yes you can.
Troll’s end is a bit more difficult to get to though than before but the platform you drop off of into the well is still there. Getting to it is different too and the veggies are gone at the end now so all you get is the chest.
Weyant’s revenge, just be careful how you slide down at the very start. Hugging the right side tends to kill you more often than not. It is better to aim a tad more to the left and not hit the bit of rock at the right.
Nothing appears to have changed for Urmag’s Secret.
Or Patrik Trinity. Name should mean something to you, not to others. If not your name added then something else that has meaning to you. Maybe make it relevant to your race and/or profession.
Instead of calling people stupid one should say they need some teaching on what to do and maybe put a link to some instructions.
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/17tvl3/how_to_grenth/
Not once in all the times I have done Grenth have I heard anyone explain what should be done or what to expect which could easily be called out at Death’s Gaze Torch before entry to the temple is started. While I realize you will always have folk who have chat boxes closed, disregard instructions, just don’t care, may not understand or be fluent in the language etc. you will have some folk be very grateful for some instruction beforehand. Also once the mob gets going and simply charges in full bore it is nearly impossible, in the swirling masses of players and shades, to figure out what is going on much less to see the portals you need to pass through before you get downed and have to waypoint and run back.
It is not an intuitive event and a new player won’t think to look at a tooltip to check a buff. Cooperation in having small groups of people doing certain things to succeed in an event is also difficult to achieve with a generic mob. Tequatl is the prime example of that. About all you can do is say look for these dark swirling spots, walk through, damage shades, walk back through to reduce your damage stacks, rinse and repeat… Those who don’t listen will be dying and running back and dying and running back etc.
No, you can’t fix people and they don’t need to be spoon fed but not everything is that easy to figure out for everyone and they have as much right to play the game their way as the rest of us do our ways. What might seem obvious to you may not be to others and if that many appear to be not getting it then it is the design of the event that is the issue. It might have been better to ‘teach’ about the portals and shades mechanics in a small mini event just prior to (or even triggering the start of the event) or enroute to going in the the larger event that would prepare folk a bit better.
I am wishing that we could take the ascended weapons and make them into precursors and then into legendaries in a step process like the tempered spinal blade back piece. It doesn’t have to be easy to do but would give one incentive to work from one stage to the next for ultimately a Legendary. Also it might open up to more types of legendaries in each weapon type. You would still have to put the work into getting them and if they kept them account bound that would definitely make them challenging to obtain.
I would be interested if fishing could get you certain types of fish that you could use in cooking for some extra special foods with qualities you might not get in regular foodstuffs.
So when can we start smacking those looters?
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

I am hoping the next segment of the Living Story will focus on rebuilding LA (in addition to the other things happening) and having us do a variety of things that the more we accomplish the faster the rebuild of the area happens. Maybe also some mini puzzles to sort out the looters from the residents or assist in rebuilding efforts. This could also be an interim something to do until the main story starts again.
I suspect everything is in hiatus until Season 2 of WvW gets finished anyway and then we have the Legendary Tournament to get through.
Five Level 80 with three having map completion. Changed up how I did it second and third times by running and getting waypoints first, then going back to fill in hearts and POI and complete dailies doing that and getting known areas I needed as I went.
WvW first time oh so hard since I never had gone in there. Second and third times got them under a week because I was doing WvW by then and running with groups. Otherwise you sneak in where you can (run past the guards where you can especially in north parts of the borderlands), run with zergs to get into ones you want (make sure you get POI AND View otherwise it can be a major pain to redo especially if it a contested area and you forgot one or the other). WvW is doable even if you don’t particularly care for WvW but may take some effort especially depending on the match going on at the time and how many of the opposing servers are out and about at various times. It is worth it to watch for their slow times to get to those areas you want without getting hammered by their roamers. Some stuff you have to either be there when they take it or keep an eye out while you are online to see if it gets taken so you can get there and get it….good resource for WvW area is http://mos.millenium.org/na (you can pick EU as well from the dropdown)

Congrats. Never had even a precurser drop my way but it is nice to see someone getting something!
Remember – you have to actually be IN the zone, to see if the waypoint is really contested.
Thanks to the Megaserver system, every waypoint that COULD be contested, IS contested, on the map view. Unless you’re actually in the zone. That’s because the MS doesn’t know what shard you’d wind up in, if you chose to go there… and thus, doesn’t know the true state.
Kind of an obvious shortcoming. I hate having to pay (and load!) twice.
It is a bit confusing when you see the map mostly contested but until you go you may see a lot of areas you could finally get to. If you don’t see anything available on that map it seems usually the waypoints at the border on the next map over are free and you can always take those and walk over. Kind of a kludgy walk around but still better than just not ever being able to get to those areas because no one was ever doing the events. At least now events are being done and those areas are being opened.
I was able to get to the map tonite and found the temple clear and got the obsidian shards I have been trying to get for quite some time.
Dulfy’s great guide may help in collecting those skins you want:
http://dulfy.net/2014/04/17/gw2-fashion-collector-title-guide/
Its going well and would rather have a totally fresh upload on this puppy. Been tweaking some stuffs I wanted to and looking at new features (went to Windows anyway while the upload is going on so upload will be done before I know it.
If you think you got it bad, my new computer got delivered this afternoon and sitting here waiting for the mammmu of uploads just to get the game back. So there.
If there was a mutually agreed upon day of hiatus then yes, anyone attacking would be a troll at that point. Otherwise what you say is true. It is a dog-eat-dog area.
I was in Obsidian Sanctum, in the starting area, when I ran into an Asura from Crystal Desert (I’m from Sanctum of Rall). She (referring to the character’s gender; I have no idea what the gender of the player was) just waved and sat down. She was joined by a norn, also from Crystal desert, and all they did was sit for awhile, dance, and just basically hang out for a few minutes. I dueled with one of them (bowing first, of course), she won, but didn’t finish me and let me rally. Afterward, I put out a box of fun, but sadly, it didn’t work for some reason (unusable by “enemies?”) so I shrugged, we stood around for a bit, and they waved goodbye before proceeding to the jumping puzzle.
I just thought that was really cool. We could have attacked each other at any moment, but they were pretty chill. Anyone else have an experience like this in WvW jumping puzzle areas? I think it’s really neat how people who are branded “enemies” by the game, and can’t communicate with each other besides emotes, would choose to be nice instead of troll, since they were all just here for the puzzle anyway. Restores a little bit of faith in humanity, if I may say so.
Also, if you were recently playing an Asura (thief? I forget) or a Norn Mesmer, and remember a Sylvari Elementalist in Legacy armor with purple leaf-hair that you interacted with as described above, I’d love to hear from you. I enjoyed our brief encounter.
I’ve had similar experiences in the puzzle. Even had people from all 3 servers cheering whenever someone got to the end.
One of the things I like about this game is that unless you’re in a PvP match or WvW you never have to worry about another player trying to kill you, and on those maps it’s very clear who your allies and enemies are. But occasionally it’s really nice to know someone has the option to kill you and has chosen not to.
Danielle Aurorel, Destinyedge [EDGE] on Desolation (EU).“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
Never had this happen but wished it would even if it was an occasional thing. It would be great to have one day a week out of each match (say mid week match Monday or Tuesday) where the JP become non-combatant by agreement except for mutual 1vs1 duels. Unfortunately the trolls would ruin it for everyone….
Try comparing your map to the lists here:
