Check this one out as well…

http://www.traumaticbraininjury.net/video-game-based-therapy-may-help-treat-tbi/

Video games/virtual worlds do a LOT more than folk suspect they do. They are a very welcome addition to treatment options. This is not just for veterans either, many others get head injuries in normal life or PSTD issues from events they have undergone and find that these games and virtual social worlds help them in a lot of ways. Some social worlds have support groups as well. I think this is an unexpected, wonderful byproduct of games and the virtual world in general.

Feedback on Instances

Pros
Liked the cut scenes – nicely done
Liked the new characters and want to know more about each and hopefully we get more involved with their stories as this progresses.
Loved the baby devourer (me want as a reward at the end of this, hint, hint!)

Cons

Repetitious fighting over and over and over. It just became an endurance test to get from point A to point B.

Suggestions

Possibly a small puzzle or something to fix in between fights/conflicts. Use that to give folk a chance to avoid conflict in one area vs having to fight for variety through the scenario.
Something to find that may shed more clues as to what is going on and that we have to decide what to do with it or figure out where to take it – a nice puzzley option.
Something like a discovery once you have found a certain set of refugees or area that causes you to make some decisions to go one direction or another which affects some outcome with Rox or Branham in the future for this story.

Overall, really enjoying this and having fun discovering what is in store for us and looking forward to future events.

I ended up making a list of the areas for each map in the Shiverpeaks (check the wiki for each map for the list of discoverable areas) I then compared and checked off the locations I had found already on each map in-game and figured out what I was missing that way. I found I had missed Forsaken Halls and DeMolish Post in Dredgehaunt. That was the easiest way for me to see what I was missing.

cjokergrind, thank you so much for your service and sacrifices. It truly means a lot to me.

It is games like this that help us lower our stress and help in a lot of ways. It certainly has helped and engaged me to a large degree.

Doctors are finding video games can help head injury patients with cognitive issues by engaging them and helping them focus and give them goals. Achieving even simple things in this game can mean a lot and building upon those achievements, even more.

If any game or online social venue can do this, then it is great value. And thank you Anet for making this enjoyable experience.

Mel, check areas around those sites listed. It might be actually close by but not enough to spot until you are closer – they don’t always show up when you hold CTL while moving so you may have to circle near the known marked areas to see where it is.

You might also want to ask if anyone knows where they are on your server chat since they differ where they might be on each server. They have changed since this last update since I found one had moved today (IoJ server) from where I knew it had been before the update.

Found ranged weapons work best if you are alone… move left and right as it shoots and you can evade a bit – at least enough to harm it and evade the blasts if you can get the sequence right. If you can get closer then you can switch to a whack em style weapon and finish it off when it moves to its neutral cycle and then loot the remains for the audio thingy. Bad luck though if it spawns friends (including a veteran) while shooting at you…. And found at least one just over the border into Snowden Drifts so they are moving outward!

Pretty much what Celtic Lady said…

No one can truly speak for anyone else either. We can only speak for ourselves as to what we enjoy or don’t enjoy – or make suggestions on what we would like to see/fix to enhance our enjoyment. Or what in this game turns us off and hopefully offer suggestions or possible solutions. None of us can truly make general statements regarding what the general population wants.

Personally I don’t see content like the living story (temporary or no) as a turnoff nor would it ever deter me from playing. There is so much here to offer so many different types of tastes I would hope others would see the things they want to get out of this game and want to play it. I tend to ride the flow and enjoy the ride, even with its ups and downs and any glitches.

Catching up has never ever occurred to me and what person(s) would I even care that I was catching up to? I achieve to my own standard and am quite pleased with the limits I have stretched for myself, not what others have done or will do. I think the game is designed for the player to please themselves in what they have striven to achieve.

They do have quite a throwback but was able to take them out using a ranged weapon (shortbow) and moving side to side once I figured out when it was going to shoot.

The first couple I took out in western side of Diessa. Went further into Diessa thinking I was continuing to do my civic duty and take those things out but beware! They will also spawn Dredge and Flame warriors (3 or 4) who will hammer you into oblivion as the sonic device throws you all over. Be careful approaching those things! (Veteran in bunch too!)

I don't like the term "Molten Alliance"

in Flame and Frost

Posted by: Aerinndis.2730

Aerinndis.2730

Makes me wonder why the Flame Legion decided on making an alliance with the Dredge since the Dredge seem to be of the anthill mentality (omg, Borg!!!).

Obviously the Dredge can tunnel where they want to and it does get the Flame Legion to the places they want/need to be to cause trouble so that may be one reason. Plus there are a lot of Dredge and they don’t seem to mind dying. I notice there are a lot more Dredge to Flame Legion coming through the portals….

Maybe the Flame Legion thinks they are ‘using’ the Dredge… They better watch out or they may be assimilated, lol….

I found them all and used dulfy’s maps (major kudos to dulfy for an awesome site!) to look in the areas where the objects have been found. They may be right at or near some of the marked locations on the maps and it is different for each server where those locations might be.

You can also hold down CTL while looking around to see if you can spot it in an area, though I believe you have to be fairly close for it to show up. Usually it will be near where one of the living story events goes on so look for those as well. Also don’t be afraid to just ask in chat if anyone can give a hint.

I would have thanked you for helping me if I was downed, even if I was trying to get through my daily. I always try to help others I see down as a courtesy. I figure altruism never is a bad thing.

Daily is not that hard, especially dodges so if they are all kittenish about it meh…you did your good deed for the day. They can get back up and go back at it. They are the ones with the issue not you. Besides you got the experience for rezzing them so neener, neener on them.

The Breached Wall is just too much

Aerinndis.2730

Great suggestions, Karizee. It took me many, many tries to get through this puzzle successfully. There are a lot of hard bits to it but you do feel very accomplished once you managed it. On my first successful time through past the skill point, I made it up until the last jump to the view and then missed and fell. (Don’t hop down to the lower level – I did and missed. Next try I went from the upper level, lined myself up and sailed right over to where I needed to be).

Recently I helped hubby get through the wall and we managed in about 4 or 5 tries which was very good considering he had never been the route before. I did learn a few things – If you fall attempting to make the jump between the two arches, aim for the ledge just below as you fall. You can jump the gap and walk back up the leaning pillar to try again without having to start all over. I wished I had realized that on the many tries I ran all the way back to the beginning. Also finding the right point to hop between the arches was probably the most frustrating to me but there is an area on the first arch which lines you up to make it. Once I figured out where it was I have been able to make the jump nearly every time.

Also sheath your weapon before jumping – you will be much faster and more accurate. It is hard with the fast respawn rate but doable. Don’t give up.

We aren’t doing anything special other than completing areas and leveling up and we manage just fine.

Does anyone get 10 legitimate rezzes?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Aerinndis.2730

Aerinndis.2730

The rez quota is always easy. Find any event and there are always some NPCs that tend to go down so fast rezzing them is not taking away from someone else since they are so frail they go down again in seconds or minutes after rezzing. Any players I find I always rezz too as a courtesy so eventually I get my quota and the experience points for rezzing so it is a win-win overall.

Today I had to work longer than expected and had barely 2 hours to get my daily completed when I got home but I managed it with around 15 minutes to spare. Finding events to complete was actually the hardest. I did find shooting salmon (one shot) was the easiest way to get the underwater kills today. Grubs were good for dodges. I try to figure out different things for the area I am in to complete the daily if I can for variety so I don’t feel this is a grind.

Town in Diessa Plateau where the giant has taken over has tons of NPCs to rez, just make sure to avoid the giant since he has death breath and one or two smacks you will be down.

I also figured out a great way to get the dodges out of the way and helped complete one of my hearts at the same time. Get near one of the dredge cannon and wait until the red circle appears and dodge just before the shot hits (pretty easy to calculate when the shot will hit after the circle appears). I also had to kill the odd dredge who got too near and started taking pot shots which took care of my heart requirement for that area pretty quickly.

Pretty much I go about my daily business in whatever time I have to play and find I get most of the daily out of the way fairly quickly and then may have to find an event or two to fill it in.

I went into Diessa Plateau and Wayfarers, wandered the roads and found refugees to help and escort, signs to rebuild and, if you look carefully, you can find dead refugees along the roadways or items they dropped along the way. Collect those items and take them to the various camps where you see a yellow star. The memento collector would like to have them. Wasn’t hard to get the Volunteer reward. I even found a few storms starting and helped deal with those, so now waiting for what else shows up.

I am glad this was not spoonfed to us. Took a bit of effort but enjoyed doing it.

All I can say, Ansultares.1567 is kudos for having the inside track to Anet and knowing what they want as far as player solutions/ideas/stat following and what the developers follow.

I suspect they can speak for themselves and do when they need/want to.

I am not offended at all if they choose not to use player suggestions or ideas. Though we do need to state what bothers us about the game and what we think can be improved.

Ultimately if the game is not satisfactory to a player, they will leave and Anet will also figure that out. I am of the nothing ventured, nothing gained frame of mind. Put it out there, if Anet lets it slip through it is on them, they lose the players but we said what we wanted so it is never pointless to say what bothers you and if you have what you think is a solution to put it out there.

Respect please.

Lot of valid complaints get buried by the ballbabyweeda complainers that complain for complaining’s sake and nothing more.

If you have an issue, give details on the issue and offer what you think is a solution or an idea to make something better. Putting out solutions to issues is better then just complain, whine and ‘omg I am SO going to quit this game maybe next week but I have to stay longer to see what else I have to complain about’ philosophy. And don’t get offended if the devs don’t pick up your solution. Lot goes on us average Joes and Janes don’t see or know about decision-wise by Anet. But I do think they DO look at what we say seriously and do take it into account. What they determine to do is their call but at least we can tell them what we see and what we think may help.

If you don’t want to play this game, then don’t. No need to do the dying swan thingy, trust me no one cares you have to make the announcement YOU ARE LEAVING… Tell your friends and move on.

Not really used dodging much if at all before (just never really used it) but still was able to figure it out and complete the daily today. Though 10 dodges would have still challenged me a lot, lol. I did get a bit frustrated at thinking I may not make my 15 but did manage it. I admit I did learn how to dodge and fight a bit better because of this.

Also I do understand that some days I may not be able to complete the daily because of what they demand that day may be beyond my capabilities, but at the same time I like the idea of stretching the limits what I can do and learn through this and get better at making my daily. It did encourage me to do more events and think about what I could do to achieve the daily in creative ways. Patience and persistence often gets you to the end goal. Changing the daily achievements encourages me to hit new marks and try things I may have just not tried yet so for me this is an ok thing. Satisfaction is more intense when you overcome the things you didn’t think you could.

Overall I find this game like a good book…. take your time and savor what you are doing, learn and just plain have fun. The rewards do come. Everyone has a different play style and goals so I do understand the frustrations. My ultimate goal is to just have fun, enjoy and learn.

Very proud of my first laurel!

Every child is different in regards to video gaming and what they are able to tolerate or able to do within that game. They do put ratings on games for a reason and that should be part of the decision in whether to allow a child access to a game with violence in it.

Main thing is monitor what she is doing and know who she is talking to. This is another social venue and the same care needs to be taken as with any other social venue. Even better, play with her and help structure her experience as well as let her guide you through what she sees as a validating experience and discuss the aspects of the game with her and what she sees good and bad in it. Kids are incredibly perceptive even at relatively young ages.

I have been in other MMOs and trust me the young ones stick out like a sore thumb. The behavior and talk is unmistakable no matter how mature you think they are which can make them a target. Add little to no supervision and the recipe for trouble is there.

The current end story doesn’t work for me re the mandatory group but, still, I finished everything up to that point with my first avi and will get my alts there as well in the hopes the devs decide to change how we can do the end stories so that we have a choice of doing it solo one way or with the group the current way. I think as a community, we can put forth a lot of really great ideas and encouragement to make this happen.

We can complain but should give ideas on what we want to see that makes the end story viable for us to do.

I am near the end of my personal story and am dismayed to find I need to find a group to complete it and after reading this thread it is looking likely I never will be able to.

Letting players make a choice to either play solo through to the end or do it with a group would be a great idea. Having a variation of what you do within that depending on that choice could be interesting and creative and allow people to try for a satisfactory ending to their personal story even if it means staging a solo journey in sections to complete it.

I am definitely not a fan of having to gather a group especially with the difficulties people are saying they are having doing that much less getting into the dungeon itself.
