Yeah hated those. You have to really watch your back because they will sneak up and take you before you realize it. I gave up even trying to take them when I saw everyone hitting on them and nothing happening.

This achievement was easy compared to some of the monthly ones we have had. Plus you could get the Queen’s Champions out of the way at the same time as well as Party Crasher Crusher if the Aetherblades were up and present. So all in all it was a win-win to cover what you needed to do. No complaints here.

yes, if the event to escort the emissary is done, just wait and talk to the pilot again and you may get Aetherblade attack or Champion but it cycles pretty fast from what I have seen. Just trying to get the Balloon achievement will probably get you all of the Champions.

Wondering if it is bugged. Went to Lion’s Arch, found the guy near the herald and did the Sanctum Sprint and did not get any achievement for it…sigh.

Nevermind….you have to wait for the timer to tick all the way down to get the daily achieve….I did leave before it had done that and repeated and it took.

I saw Zephyr Sanctum as a very fluid thing. I would expect it to come back but different with different challenges and things to do. The Bazaar possibly returning in a different form/variation or something. I really enjoyed the challenges of this one. It did get me to do some things outside of my comfort zone and got me a lot more confident in trying new things. Even if I never managed to win a Sanctum Sprint it was all good!

Well, it is an option. You do not have to do it if you don’t want to, but is a nice addition for those who might decide to take a chance and stretch themselves into things they may not have done before. It really is a nice open door to finding out you can do more than you thought you could.

I never won at Sanctum Sprint but did find it challenging and would definitely do it as well as some of the others again for this achievement.

I must say I am enjoying this one as well. I won’t be doing the gauntlet because that does not appeal to me, but I think Anet hit the right notes here with a bit of something for everyone. I have had a lot of fun in the Crown Pavilion going in with groups to get each event. That has been a surprising amount of fun even with the low framerate (can’t always see everyone but do see the names) and the rewards are pretty nice. LOVE the wallet…think that was one great idea and so handy. Good job, Anet of trying to get us a bit of something for a lot of different play styles.

See Dulfy.net for additional on the achievement http://dulfy.net/2013/08/06/gw2-queen-jennahs-jubilee-achievement-guide/

You can only get the chest once (no easy farming!) so you have to get to all the areas to find the other balloon towers and get them opened up if they are not. So if you need 30 chests you can get them over 15 zones.

You are probably missing the dive in the Not So Secret Aetherblade jumping puzzle in Gendarran Fields (south of Broadhollows Waypoint). I wish they would allow us credit for all of the dives we have had to do so we have a selection to choose from to get the achieve.

It is a hard jumping puzzle for me so have not been able to complete it much less get to where the goggles are. I go in periodically to try though.

Not sure what you mean by DR shutting you down as soon as you log in. I assume you are looking for higher level items from what you kill – definitely luck and I never count on that.

Just harvest everything, kill and get what you can out of that and sell on TP. What you can’t sell on TP, sell to NPCs (always check to see if an NPC will buy something before chucking it – it is surprising what all they will buy, lol). Your monies will accumulate but you do have to be patient and keep at it to start building it up. I only keep a couple of gold on hand and dump the rest in the bank and eventually you will see a very nice balance in there.

Each race has a city check out the wiki for them:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/City

You should explore each of the cities to get the waypoints, points of interest and views. You will find crafting stations in every city that you can use. Banking and Black Lion Traders are available as well.

The interactive map will show you the world.
http://gw2.mmorpg-life.com/interactive-maps/
For now find the various cities and go into the entry level areas and explore to start leveling up. Look for events to pop up and join those. Work on the heart quests as you find them. Harvest everything you can find and sell items you get either on the trading post or to NPCs you meet.

Dulfy has one of the best guides to a lot of the stuff you can do out there right now:
http://dulfy.net/category/gw2/

Watch the map and local chat for what folk are doing. A lot of the bigger events get announced in those chats.

The forums have a lot of good information as well and you can keep track of ongoing events there.

Welcome to GW2. Go forth, explore, enjoy and have fun!

Candidate Trials Tier 4 Solo Guide-With Video

Managed before this latest update to get it solo with a Ranger. Used Longbow, pet on passive but used one with poison/immobilize also used Muddy Terrain (cripples and immobilizes) on skills. I had tried with shortbow (my fave) but just didn’t quite make it on previous attempts on T3. Longbow did the trick for me. Also stay back behind the rocks to keep from bringing the mobs to you and take down plunderers as far as you can go out without getting mob attention and cap them coming back in. Having the restraint from following them into the mobs is key. Muddy Terrain was great to trap and cap them off when coming back in.

What changed my mind about Kiel was staying around after the Candidate Trial and listening to what she had to say. I was surprised to say the least. I had felt she was pushing the noble for the people bit at the beginning but showed her true colors once the treasure was saved. Obviously a true pirate at heart.

At least Evon is up front about what he is doing which may be a Char trait anyway.

Overall not feeling any more emotional about one or the other overall… Each has good or bad points to them. Kiel is a lot more attractive than Evon physically and I wonder how that plays into people’s decision on whether they like or dislike either one. Obviously their personalities and how they are able to present themselves do.

I wish we could put the support tickets (scraps or any other trophy stuffies) in the Mystic Forge, though, and get something REALLY interesting.

Soloed T3 & T4

I think I got lucky on T4 – few mobs, plunderer spawned only on left side. I did get mobbed once in the beginning when I went too far forward and had to recoup but still ended up winning with only 500 treasure left. Used Ranger, Longbow, Muddy Terrain for skills and pet with immobilizing/poison on passive. I had tried it with the shortbow on T3 but kept failing. Definitely longbow on this one.

T3 took a lot of tries before I got that one. For me that was the hardest.

Went in with hubby last night to get his T1 & T2 and it was a lot harder together. He went back later and did it fairly easily alone.

Kiel’s Crystal thingy was horrific for me…hated every minute I was in there. No team cooperation it was just a mess to me so I guess it is more what suits you better. I will do it enough times to get the achieve for lasting it out but no more. I am glad they gave us a variety of things to try, though. My issue has been getting up there to do it. Jumping Puzzles are difficult as a rule for me and I have made several goes at this one to get up there and failed. I am not saying I am giving up, just for now, but I am realizing it doesn’t look like a possible for me in this particular location. While I so appreciate the help of the wonderful mesmers who have helped folk complete various jumping puzzles, I really would like to be able to complete these on my own. I did the rest of the diving goggle locations that way and had the achievement before they added this newest one.

I would hope ANet puts in some more diving goggle areas so at least you have a couple of additional choices of different ways to get the number needed for the achievement. I got the other two that didn’t count. It doesn’t have to be easy, just maybe a different challenge than doing a jumping puzzle.

If I ever do manage to get up there, thanks, Anen, for showing where you have to make the jump.

Dulfy, of course, is one of the most excellent resources:
http://dulfy.net/category/gw2/

and then there is the Wiki for lot of good info, lore etc.:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Main_Page

You will build as you go, harvest as you explore, sell or craft what you find, the main thing is to have fun and enjoy the trip. Lot of nice folk out there who help out. Watch the map and local chats to see if folk are putting out events you can participate in. Don’t be afraid to ask for help in chat. Look at the achievement lists to find things you may be interested in doing. My first avie was a Ranger and one of my first goals was to collect all the pets available which ended up being a fun thing to do. It is pretty much doing what you want to do. You can do the dailies/monthlies/Living Story or not, it is your choice.

Sola, did you get Griffinrook Run in Lorner’s Pass? That is a bit hard to find unless you know where to dive down to.

The way I figured out what I was missing was I made a list of everything in each map on notepad and printed it out and then compared it to each map. Flipping back and forth on screens was too hard for me to keep track of what I was missing. I just checked things off as I went and found it was DeMolish Post and Forsaken Halls I needed to complete.

Bazaar of the Four Winds achievements

Aerinndis.2730

Even though I am not a jumping puzzle fan I did enjoy this one and managed the achievement without winning Sanctum Sprint or even placing. The aspects were a neat way of getting places and I was able to get all the required crystals. It did take some diligent work to best figure out how to get some of them and I did use Dulfy’s guide to find the locations (make sure you check off which ones you got. Hubby didn’t and we wasted a lot of time backtracking to figure out what he had gotten or not gotten) It definitely wasn’t easy but was challenging enough that I felt very proud at managing to find my 40.
Ones I did were:
Strangers from the Sky
Voyage to the Bazaar
Diverse Trader
Ascend to Zephyr Sanctum
Kookoochoo the Incredulous
Sanctum Sprint – Find the Aspect Master
Parachute Pilferer
Best Dive Ever (LOVED this one – lot of fun)
Crystal Obsessed
Crowd Favorite
Pickup Completionist
Poor Man’s Kite
Like Clockwork
Lessons from the Sky
Kite Bombing (Bit confusing where to go but follow Dulfy’s guide)
Kites of Iron (I thought this would be harder but it was a lot easier than I thought)

I would have liked to have managed the racing and placed or won first but it is something I cannot seem to manage. I did find that I could do some things and get through some jumping puzzles that I thought I would not be able so in all it was a nice way of expanding what I can do and gives me more confidence at trying some of the other jumping puzzles now. I would love to have access to some of the aspects for some things though, those were a LOT of fun.

Customer Trust

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Aerinndis.2730

Aerinndis.2730

It’s surprising to me that people frame this as a trust issue. I’m pretty nimble intellectually, but just can’t do the gymnastics to get there. The issue that first came up for me when I first saw them was “these things better go away when the fight starts”. It was a brief moment of clutter-rage.

I think it’s great when Anet let’s customers know, through fairly innocuous gifts, that they are appreciated. I feel appreciated and it just makes me want to support them more. I don’t go to the question of how much to give them in order to get something. It’s not an accounting-based relationship. I simply appreciate their appreciation.

I agree with this. I accepted the gift in the spirit I think it was intended. Nowhere did I feel I had to buy gems to get anything extra nor did I have any expectations of getting anything. I bought or buy gems as needed and just was lucky I had been given a gift card or two within the time frame needed. For those who didn’t or couldn’t buy gems (start asking for gem cards as gifts, folks!), I am sorry, but honestly how is not having or being able to get a kite going to make or break your game?

Material things (even virtual material things) are transient. What is lasting is the simple, nice gesture that ANet has made. It says to me they appreciate our support of the game. They have also given out plenty of rewards, i.e. the current achievement chests as a thanks for putting in the work to get to the various achievement levels. Maybe they should put in a kite in one of those achievement chests for those who were not able to get them. Say by 3500, 4000, or 4500 achievement points you get a kite.

Speedy Reader is back up as of the July 9 patch per http://dulfy.net/2013/07/10/gw2-speedy-reader-the-founding-of-ebonhawke-achievement-guide/

You do have to check to see if you got it once you are finished since it does not have a pop up that tells you.

Also added is the Cleaning Up the Neighborhood Separatist Propaganda achievement. http://dulfy.net/2013/07/10/gw2-cleaning-up-the-neighborhood-separatist-propaganda-achievement-guide/

This one does pop up telling you if you got it.

Both were nice change of paces from jumping puzzles etc. I especially liked the speedy reader one because you also learned some history. Hopefully ANet will put something like this in all the cities and elsewhere so we can learn more about the areas we are in. Loved it, thanks ANet.

You only have to discover them, not complete them to finish Shiverpeak Explorer. Forsaken Halls you may have to go to look at the Dwarven door at Wyrmblood Lake and then go find Gerrvin at Travelen’s Steading to get that started to get into the mini dungeon. You may get the discovery simply by walking up to the door, I cannot remember whether I got it at the door or if I did it by entering, got it and left.
