At first I was, “ugh!” But I went back in and eventually got enough Essence of Nightmare to make the big key and even then it took another event and several tries to get to the chest, I felt good that I managed it and you get a nice title for that too. Since then, I got the big key randomly – think it was out of one of the Breech Boss events and have nearly gotten enough to make another key. It is actually kind of fun in a weird way, LOL. Yes, you die a lot but once you start getting the hang of it in a strange way you want to go back to see how far in there you can get.

This one kind of grows on you. I realize it may not be for everyone but I am finding it quirky and interesting.

I did notice them when they appeared as I tend to go through the area multiple times daily. I love the idea these show up without any fanfare. I try to pay attention and notice things like this. It is a nice touch on Anet’s part for things like this.

I also notice (shame on the Asurans) that the Lion’s Arch broken waypoint has not been fixed despite Taimi’s fix having gotten rid of the vines in a lot of places already. Hopefully we will find out why they are so slow at fixing that.

If you don’t take the facet down quickly, it will eventually respawn to a random color and come back with its health still reduced. You can stand in the area near where you finally leave and the death circles do not reach that far. Just lure the facet there and hit on it a bit and let it respawn, rinse and repeat until it goes for red. It is still RNG based but I thought that it seemed to take less time.

It is little bits like this they could have something where we follow this guy, figure out where he is in the world and along with a small storyline and possibly tasks we have to do for him where there is a hidden achievement for sticking with his story over a period of time to see the resolution or a reward. I could see him launching grandmaster chef crafting certainly.

I would love to see more characters that you find and then follow over time to see interactions etc. and outcomes that either reward or give a small achieve for. It is also a great way to get more history of races etc. Personally, I would like to see them scattered all over so you have to stumble across them and become engaged enough to follow through and be rewarded for that.

There was one small robot in Metrica at Soren Draa that I followed for some time as it delivered messages to various asura. I got intrigued watching what messages it was delivering and to whom. I thought it was a brilliant touch of ambience to the area and would love to see more things like that around the world. Make it worth while following someone who catches your attention.

It is obvious someone asked for help, several someones kindly assisted, someone was able to complete the event and was grateful and then someone complained about someone asking for assistance instead of researching the event out before attempting it. All doubt was removed for me on this one…

First time which was a failure, I thought this was too long. I really thought last boss fight was bugged and was truly thinking of not even trying again. My second time, soloing, and figuring the mechanics out it was much shorter and I actually started to enjoy this.

Later I did it again for the achieves with one group and ended up leaving by second boss because of one who wasn’t listening to others and got two of the four killed early on because that person surged ahead without letting the ones who didn’t know what to expect walk into insta deaths. That person also would not listen to those of us who had completed the event asking to wait to make sure everyone knew what to do before proceeding to each section.

Next group I found we worked together to the end, learned as we went and I got my achieves, they got their events and everyone enjoyed it. I took hubby in after that to help him and we had a lot of fun doing the whole thing. He enjoyed it first time round and we did it even quicker the second time for his achieves.

Learning the mechanics was really not that hard. I do think I bugged on my first attempt and I know others have experienced bugs as well which does add to the frustration.

Usually there is a good sized group outside the instance so if you are having difficulties either do the LFG or post in chat and let folk know where you are having difficulties finishing. Usually someone will help you finish the event. There were a lot of really nice folk helping people complete this event.

No, he’ll be fine as I keep tossing stuff to him to hold while I loot.
And even better yet, as you group with other people with skritt backpacks, they start to enter into that collective hive mind mode where they get smarter and spout different phrases.

It is the guards you start out with that you have to save not Caithe’s group. You want to avoid your NPCs getting into any combat. When you get to the area where the large mob with the thrashers are don’t go left to where the mobs are, go right to the other corpse and the NPCs will disappear. Complete the rest of the event and you should get the achieve.

Hidden Arcana story quest bugged

Aerinndis.2730

3 words. What the kitten. I got up to the final boss and all manner of words came out when I got so frustrated trying to do it. To me, if feels bugged, here’s why:

I killed the little fragment guy, get the green color go to green light get shield, cool… This is where it breaks for me. I get the fragile thingy, go back to try to destroy the vortex, the green light knocks me back.
So failed that like five times, died a few other times because of bad fragile spawning right under me when fighting… and I gave up at midnight.

Was fun and pretty map, until that. Please, that vortex or the light has to move. Can’t get more than 25% down on the last boss since I get stuck after that first stage.

I am assuming you killed the Summoned Facet (little guy) and got the colored aura but then you ALSO have to get the Fragile bubble while you have the colored aura on and THEN run to the light to take out the vortex (stand till vortex takes the fragile debuff and one hit usually takes it down). Color of the aura and the light do have to match. I had one run where I got a different color so I waited that out and tried again when I got the next which had the right color.

The boss has two phases. One where the vortex spawns anywhere (unless it bugs into the wall) so all you have to do is run into the fragile bubble and then get to the vortex and stand till it takes it and one hit usually takes it out. Other phase is the light column with the vortex inside. For that phase you want to keep moving well away from the vortex because you don’t want the rings of death near that and kill the little Summoned Facet to get the color. Keep an eye out for an open fragile bubbles so as soon as you get the aura on you run for a bubble but NOT one in a death ring. Then go for the light column stand till vortex takes it and kill. Rinse and repeat. Mobile is definitely your friend here. Once you get the mechanics it is actually pretty easy to do. Hope this helps. I had trouble my first time through but figured it the second time around.

The only problem I had with this fight was that 75% of the time the bubbles that make you fragile that you transfer to the Vortex Crystals spawned in the middle of those AoEs that one-shot you. As a result this fight took a helluva lot longer to do than it should have.

Other than that, it wasn’t too tough.

This was my primary complaint (once I read what the mechanics where), this issue was the only thing that caused frustration. I could sometimes dodge through the death circle and pickup the Fragility, but most of the time it was death and running back in.

I did attempt the whole thing without reading, and was VERY frustrated by the end and vowed never to do it again, but then I read you needed the achievements to get the luminous skin so I had to do some research. Still need to get the Aspect of Strength achievement as the stupid thing pulled me as I stepped into the area.

For that achieve, go in with a group or another person, stand at the back and range him while the other distracts him by melee and you will get it easily.

I wanted to stay in the Library reading the books and exploring. For me it was all the details throughout that really brought this to life and makes me want to go back in, curl up and start reading books. The library would be a wonderful place to find more history and maybe some small hidden achievements and/or puzzles relating to the history of Tyria.

I am in agreement with others regarding the stilted initial dialogue between Marjory and Belinda though I absolutely loved the sequence of binding Belinda’s soul to the weapon. That was perfectly done. I think the conversations leading up to it could have been a bit longer and more revealing of their characters without being overly talky.

This episode really got me excited in completing the story this time. While I enjoyed the other episodes this one really made me feel more part of it and I certainly felt less a spectator than I had in the other ones. Great job overall on the story and I am enjoying Silverwastes and all the little touches there as well.

The only problem I had with this fight was that 75% of the time the bubbles that make you fragile that you transfer to the Vortex Crystals spawned in the middle of those AoEs that one-shot you. As a result this so-called fight took a helluva lot longer to do than it should have.

Other than that, it wasn’t too tough.

If you stand in one place then the boss just spits those fields in front of you along with the bubble you need. The best way to get around this is to keep moving.

My first attempt I wasn’t moving around enough so I ended up with multiple death circles in one area and Marjory stuck in the middle. I don’t know if it finally bugged out but none of the circles were going away so I quit. Looking back I realized the boss had two phases – one where you get the fragile and just go take out the vortex and the other where you kill the Summoned Facet for the light color aura and then get the fragility to be able to take out the vortex. If the vortex ends up in the middle of a death ring, just keep moving around well away from it and wait it out until the ring fades, get another fragility buff if needed and then take it out.

On my second attempt and I kept running in very large circles around the room which kept the death circles spread way out and the fight went very quickly to a successful conclusion. I did try to stay away from the walls and keep the boss either in or around the outer edge of the center bit.

I do think the progression of the boss fights was brilliant in teaching the mechanics: The first boss (Facet of Strength) you attack directly, the next (Facet of Light) you need to kill the small Summoned Facets to get the color buff in order to damage the boss, the third boss (Facet of Darkness) is totally an indirect attack where you kill the vortexes after transferring the fragility to them. The last boss (Malevolent Memory) is a great combination though where I think some get confused, and I did on my first attempt, was to also try to damage the boss via direct attack since going through the progression of bosses you might assume the last would be a combination of all, which it really wasn’t.

Later I went back got the achieves by doing it with a group and saw others obviously thinking the same as I initially had, where they tried direct attacks as well as running through the fragility etc. to get to the boss.

I am also glad this wasn’t spoon fed to us. I really enjoyed the sense of exploration in figuring it out. This was a really well done event.

No matter what color I got, I was able to go in and damage the boss some. Red did the most damage and took it out at the end. You do have to watch how many seconds and leave before the buff is up otherwise it is insta-death. I started running out of that circle once it was down to about 5 secs just to make sure.

I just ran through a second time and this one successfully. Last boss I kept running around in circles and not stopping very much to keep him from throwing too much down in one spot and was able to get the fragility and the vortexes to spawn all over instead of just one spot like it did last night. Continuous running in wide circles also helped with the circles of death being spread out so they had little to no impact. I actually enjoyed the fight and it really didn’t take that long since it was working as it should. I did have one add spawn that once I killed it was not of the active color needed but it didn’t matter because another one spawned right after with the active color.

I couldn’t get any of the fragile buffs in the last fight because they were all smack in the middle of multiple rings upon rings of instant death. Marjory was stuck in the middle of that whacking away at the Vortex and could not move away.

I really don’t want to do this over again either. Checkpoints would be nice on this one. It just became too long for me to keep focused. I did think the fights were interesting and was figuring them out but the last one was a deal breaker for me.

Have the same problem here. I cannot take the Fragile buffs ‘cause the moment I get them I die. Instantly. Honestly, I’m NOT doing all that instance again… It’s very, very long and I was in constant fear of having to start it over.
I’m honestly happy for those who could finish it, anyway. Lucky you. ._.

I wished I had taken a screen shot of the multiple non-going away death rings in front of the colored aura with the fragile buffs all in the middle. They were not spawning any place else either and it was impossible to get to them. I had the mechanics of the fight pretty much figured out but with Marjory also stuck where she was whole fight was a big exercise in futility. I will probably try again or maybe do it with a group once it is patched.

The Fragile buffs are all inside the instant death fields and Marjorie seems stuck standing in the middle of that as well whacking away at the Vortex Crystal. At this point, the only option for those of us who are at tens of thousands of bags opened with no result is simple. Write an actual support ticket. Make ANet spend time and money dealing with this bull. Ive lost almost 2,000g trying to get this mini and have less to show for it than before I started farming. Before halloween I was so excited for this content to come back, but now I just want to quit playing entirely. Their RNG system at its core is garbage and until it gets reworked this kind of situation will not stop. I’m a hypocrite though as I still sit here on the last day farming, buying, and opening more freakin bags just like they want.

I agree the RNG is beyond sucky but no one is forcing anyone to spend anything on bags – that is a personal decision to do that. I think everyone is frustrated with this and the event has only amplified an ongoing issue and reactions to it.

I chose to just farm through this event as did hubby. I got the cat in the first 500 bags. One endless tonic somewhere in the 2k bags and several runes which I gave the duplicates to hubby. I am somewhere in the area of 5k bags opened now…. Hubby on the other hand has gotten nada. No cat, no dog, no tonic. He also did not farm as long as I did. He earned enough corn cobs to just buy the danged cat. Between us out of all the bags we got I don’t think we got 200 wrappers either.

Do I have less than I started the event with? No. I sold what I could, salvaged what I could and even got 3 exotics out of the labyrinth. Will I get a weapon skin – probably not especially if your chances are more based with how many you turn in. Do I care? Not really. I do admit to experiencing a rising frustration level as I opened bag after bag to TP, eggs, Custard etc. ad nauseum for stuff I will either trash or try to sell on a flooded market. For folk that these things matter it has to be horrible which is not a nice way to spend an event.

This whole thing strikes me as such a Pavlov’s dog thing. Ring a bell and everyone starts salivating. You see it with telephones, lol. One rings and watch folk kill themselves to answer it. No one says you HAVE to answer that phone or buy that bag but you do feel compelled to. If this event was designed to have this reaction then I would say it was a big success for ANet.

I think u are missing the point, from wat u saying I presume u are not a mini collector, or at least not a proper mini collector that collect every single mini, so ofc u wouldnt care less if u get the mini dog or not, but for the rest of us in this thread, we have collected pretty much every mini up till now, which is why not being able to collect this particular mini is so extremely frustrating, this mini wouldnt mean a thing to u, but for us it means completing our set of collection.

Trust me, I do understand and sympathize. I am not a mini collector but what I am saying is the circumstances of this event are playing on the frustrations and probable predictable actions (buying lots of bags) as a result of those frustrations by those who do. A brilliant psychological move by ANet I am thinking. All of us are affected by it even if the wolf was not our goal. They stuck a carrot out and we ran for it.

If anything he should have been able to be bought with foil wrapper scraps, if you are unlucky enough to not get one in the time you acquired 1k wrappers you aren’t going to win a halloween skin in the lottery either. On the off chance you do happen to win a skin you still can’t trade it for the mini you were after… go figure.

with all the wrappers we’ve gotten out of the bags we should be able to trade those for the mini… knowing my luck with all the bags i’ve opened and the wrappers submitted.. well.. only time will tell but more than likely RNGesus will not go easy on us. This will probably be the last time I purchase gems..

No way my RNG is that good I have opened around 12k or so bags so far and are no where near 1k wrappers – maybe under 100 out of all those bags… I did get the cat right around my 500th bag so I guess that was something. My candy corn RNG is really good I am at 25 cobs now and was hoping to be able to collect more nougats, skulls and plastic fangs but their drop rate is way below that of the corn. I gave up hoping for Gwynefrdd as a drop. I just want another cat so hubby can have one. Otherwise I will give him enough cobs to buy one if he doesn’t get a drop.

Can't find my minipets :(

That should be where your minis are and you will have to add each to the wardrobe.

The Labyrinthine Horror is unfair.

I was curious about one of the folks in the video at about 2:10 – was he a dwarf? If so, this should get very interesting.

I would go for Paleoentomologist (for study of insects) instead of Archaeologist which is the study of human.
