The only way that would be useful is if a member of a guild were an anchor in the correct overflow, and he let other guild members join up with him in order to hop into the correct overflow. And even then, he could only bring it 4 at a time before kicking them to help more people join. That one little trick is ill equipped to handle anything over a handful of people staying in the same overflow.
I don’t know, the TTS (Tequatl Terror Squad) guilds have been able to do it quite efficiently so far by having several people act as “taxis”.
One person can bring 4 at a time… but when those 5 person could bring 20 more… those 20 could bring 80 more and so on.
Only until the servers hits a cap – then, if we still don’t have enough, it’s a matter of hoping someone not there to fight Teq crashes or leaves.
But yes, the taxi trick works quite well.

What were they testing, how to drive players away to other MMO’s ?
Pfff.
Nah, I think it’s a test of how the community reacts to open-world “raid” content and boss difficulty so they can plan how to revamp the other world bosses and see what doesn’t work.

Title: Master of Extreme Lag
-Be lagged by the zerg during stun phase, find yourself dead 2 minutes after under the dragon’s feet
-Lag and crash when Tequatl appears
-Lag when running to help the Vigil Megalaser which is about to go down, find yourself dead and surrounded by champs after.
-Lag out and crash after death from WPing back
-Lag out and crash after Tequatl is beaten but before receiving your treasure
-Lag out and crash on the lowest game settings
-Lag on a turret while being attacked, find yourself dead and the turret controlled by an afker 2 minutes after
Hidden achieve! – be berated by everyone in map chat for lagging and told to buy a better rig

And while we’re on the subject, why are we giving people valuable loot simply for participating in a 15 minute event? So what if it’s “hard.” You know what’s hard? Finding one pixel in the entire world of Tyria and standing on it for 48 hours, and you can’t look away from the screen. Which pixel is it? Better start looking! You’ll know when you’ve stood on it for 48 hours. HARDCORE.Let me build on that, you have to be under the influence of Bottle of Raven’s Best at all times with visual effects turned on, skills 1-5 have to be on cooldown the entire time. Rewards the title: Drunken Master.
And the game knows if you went to Dulfy or used a guide to find that pixel. If you did, YOU FAIL.

Finger killing squad is a must – maybe 4 people need to stay behind and down as many fingers as they can. It lessens the poison on the field during stun. People also need to not leave their kittening turrets!

A consistent reward needs to be added to this fight – I’m not talking about higher drop chances for ascended or minis or skins, those should remain rare, but something that players can count on as a satisfactory reward for defeating Teq. Maybe tokens, maybe an exotic, something that makes the 80 man team up worth it beyond the satisfaction of killing the beast itself.
Forever known as “that slow guardian who can’t jump worth crap”.
Okay, acceptable rewards.
Beating Teq all the times I did earned me chests full of blues and greens. I could beat any world boss and get those same blues and greens with less effort. The chance of the ascended or other special rewards is great and should remain a random chance but there needs to be some solid, reliable reward for the amount of effort this boss takes to down.
Tokens are one idea. Exotics are another.
The only reason I keep fighting him is that I want that mini. That’s it. Eventually, I will give up and move on to more rewarding content.

I can’t stand it either OP so I just don’t play it and that should be the end of it right?
Wrong! I have these bloody tiaras, dresses and continue coins all dribbling over into normal PvE. I have enough junk to deal with and BLC to suffer without all this SAB garbage clogging up my inventory space too.
I only hope that those SAB drops are not replacing what could’ve been a exotic, rare or a dye when I get them. Think I’d jam a bent continue coin in the SAB slot if that was the case
Considering their drop rate, I guarantee they didn’t replace a exotic.
I’m almost thinking that there is a coded slot for event items that they simply fill and that it either takes the place of a junk drop or a blue item. Before Miya leaving her wigs all over, it was Gauntlet tickets and before that, ballots.
It can get annoying but that’s all it is – annoying – not game breaking.

6. A scapegoat that some players of GW2 use as a vehicle to insult and degrade other players; ie calling them “casuals”, “n00bs”, “boring” or otherwise worthless
7. A scapegoat used by some players of GW2 to alienate other players; either by acting in a manner similar to “sour grapes” upon those who have beaten him and proclaiming they have no “real” not viable skills (such as being able to beat intense physical and reactionary challenges) or berating those who have not by using terms such as “casual”, “n00b”, “scrub” or other demeaning gamer lingo.
8. A promising boss update which failed to take into account challenge = reward.

/cut lot of trash.
But for the love of god, don’t ruin it for the rest of us.
It’s all about the perception of difficulty. How many of those who got a Tequatl kill so far also have completed “Light up the darkness” for example? Or the SAB tribulation mode, the Clocktower jumping puzzle or daily farm high level fractals?
If people want to get a Tequatl kill and complete some achievements they can just join one of the cross server guilds coordinated on some TS and do that. If you try to do it the legit way tho, on some mid to low populated server or on a real overflow, then it just won’t happen.
There are different types of skills. People who have organization/commanding/leading/following directions/multitasking/strategic/team work etc etc intelligence based type skills might not have I Want To Be The Guy pinpoint jumping/fast reflexes physical based type skills and I’m insulted that those are the only “real” skills that many players seem to feel deserve any respect. Both are very valid skill sets and it’s nice to finally have content that actually requires more on the intelligence side.
Couldn’t beat Liadri because that is beyond my skill set. I have issues jumping so TM and Clocktower are beyond my abilities. I have yet to learn Fractuals so I can’t comment on that. If it involves pinpoint jumping, then no. Anything that involves pinpoint jumping and dodging is a no for me because of disabilities but I can run tactics, I can watch something and figure out patterns, and I personally like working together with others.
And the TC kills are very legit despite being a high server. Unless you Akitten in the back, joined in at the last second and refused to follow orders or trolled – you got a Teq kill by helping.

Tequatl is a great way for bad players to feel and show online pride for beating something that required zero skill to do. Let’s see how many of these prideful beasts would act if they were told to solo Lupicus or even if they were asked how they’d perform on Liadri with a glass canon build.
I never saw so much pride in gw2 before from players for doing something that gave zero evidence of their own personal skill. Hiding behind the zerg doesn’t say anything about you. And yet here they are, flooding reddit etc with their pride for “beating” a boss that’s basically all about dpsing him hard in a zerg while dodging a couple times movements with extreme tells that people still fail to get.

So basically, you want easymode for optional content?
No.
The only thing you get out of the Teq achieves is a title and points. Anet was even nice enough to put the cool wings as the reward for the Living World achieves instead, obviously so most of the player base wouldn’t feel left out. You have forever to get all the Teq achieves, this content isn’t going away, and many many MANY people on forums are forming Teq killing squads to help others get these achieves.
Put in the effort or be okay without getting all the achieves. I’ll never have all the JP achieves or any of the ones for The Gauntlet or the SAB Tribulation Mode ones.

Organizing people and getting them to listen is a skill (Cat herding FTW).
Being able to take direction while at the same time not needing your hand held through the whole event is a skill.
Using strategy to plan out how to deal with an encounter is a skill.
Knowing what build works best for your role is a skill.
Motivating peers and keeping your cool when everything is going to heck is a skill.
Working under pressure is a skill.
Learning to dodge those waves and react quickly is a skill.
Learning how the event works and how you and the others around you should best react is a skill.
If you think the only things that are actual skills worth having pride in are split second I Want To Be The Guy type platform jumps and attacks, then I pity you. Even in the golden era of video games, there were titles that required different skill sets to beat or play. Are you going to tell someone who beats Final Fantasy that they are unskilled because all they had to do was press a button, read and use strategy?
The only elitist I see here is you.

The only issues with this on TC I’ve seen was the last fight where there was a remark in Mumble we shouldn’t need the commanders to lead, call out, or bother organizing, we should just think for ourselves and just know what to do – ie they couldn’t be bothered.
First time I’ve ever been disappointed with my own server in this content – our commanders are usually polite, passionate and organized.
Meh, the only thing being a commander guarantees is that you spent 100g. There were always bad ones, just probably not so concentrated into one place vying for attention.
I’m just not used to this from TC during Teq – I guess I was spoiled by the commanders and volunteers who cared and actually, you know, commanded and worked together.
Won’t be doing late night Teq again. All the blame got piled on the turret users too. Very, VERY disappointed, TC.
I know what you mean, but remember that there are rotten apples everywhere, and that some commanders were commanding during the whole day and they were probably pretty tired already. I was not there when that happened, so I don’t know which commander was the one that was that rude, but it is a very unusual behavior. Don’t blame the whole server, please. I have been on many fights with TC already, got my title and never had this kind of problem.
It happened again. Guidence was asked for in Mumble as to where to cleanse and who needed what, they pretty much said if you don’t already know what to do, you can’t play this and it was pretty much a “GTFO N00B response”, one even called those screaming for command in mapchat “crybabies”. There are first timers still in TC who need to know where to go and what to do, that behavior is absolutely toxic. They did step up after saying all that and we got a kill but that is bullkitten – our server is better than that.
Guys, if you don’t want to repeatedly give commands even to a skilled group, don’t offer to be a commander or command on Mumble. It’s a thankless job but don’t sign up if you really don’t want to be prepared to herd cats.

FYI you are supposed to waypoint to broonolu point, swim to that battery, and use the pad to return. If you sit there you screw the event over for everyone else!
Thank you. I cannot tell you how many times our commanders have to stress “Please waypoint back if you are dead and not simply downed, you are wasting time we need for offense and defense if we have to rez you all the way up. We cannot spare time to get you up if you are dead.” – this isn’t refusing to rez the dead out of being malicious or mean, it’s sticking to strategy so the entire group can pull off a good attempt or a win – including the person who has to wp back!
The only time I’ve heard of it being malicious was a story on the forums of a commander telling folks not to rez the dead after a failed attempt because he was kittened off.

I think the best thing you can do is get everyone registered on one voice comm. This could take some work, but it would help you more than anything.
We’ve tried, but no one would go on. Out of the population of maybe 100 on the map, only 30 average would get on. Even after asking to do so for the entire wait for him to spawn
That’s unfortunate. That’s one of the MOST important things.

Wow Congrats to TC you seem to really have the pattern down now.
Other servers are really struggling to get even to 50%. Why the difference I wonder.
Also to SoR good job well done.
For TC:
1. Commanders who actually know what they are doing, remain polite but yet passionate and give instruction not insults. I’ve read some other threads about the blue doritos on other servers and.. wow..
2. Mumble. Mumble. Mumble.
3. Players who actually know what they’re doing and are willing to instruct others and are polite.
4. Co-operation.
5. Quaggans with kites.Exactly! Our Commanders are great. I mentioned somewhere else that people don’t even get mad when the event fails. They just say something like “Aww, we were so close!” (because, when we fail, it is for 1~2% ;P), GG and move on.
The lack of insulting and ragequitting helps, we Toasters just don’t give up!

By people who know what they are doing, players willing to listen, good commanders, a bit of luck, exotic gear, organization, multitasking and skill – that’s how. You cannot join this fight and spam one or afk. Even t1 servers fail with too many afkers, unskilled and stubborn players, bad commanders, too many downed, bad luck, and the lazy or else TC would kill Teq every time he spawned during prime hours.

I’m worried about this too, that’s why I stayed up to push for achieves. GW2 has taught me the population is fickle – they want achieves ASAP and then move right on so you better get them all in the first day or two.

It says you must kill Tequatl without using a Hylek Turret.
It’s pretty self-explanatory…No…
Defeat Tequatl without allowing any of the hylek turrets to be destroyed
That means no turret can be completely destroyed for the entire encounter (you might get the achievement if the event fails and you reach at least the first 25%). The easiest way to do this would probably be to have 1 dedicated turret repair guy per turret group. He should keep the turrets at 100% at all times.
Backing this up. You cannot lose one single turret (and I misread your post, OP, sorry).

All Teq needs is TWEAKING, not a nerf. If you are failing hard, it’s due to lack of people, lack of organization, clueless players, crappy equipment, or all the above. That’s why I see it fail in overflow yet succeed or get very close on TC.

Nah, keep guesting but when a native wants to get in – boot the guest. Harsh but the way content in GW2 works is that you better do it when it’s new or you don’t get to finish it.
Entitled much? They were there first. If you want to get in, wait in line like everybody else.
How is that true? There was just an update about 30 minutes ago and I did it the same time as everyone else. Loaded in…overflow. Now I am waiting just as long as everyone else except unable to play with my own server. How is it entitled to ask that you play with your own community? If they care enough to beat him get coordinated enough with other people on your server. If that isn’t an option, transfer. If you care enough, you will.
Forced update apparently means “Entitled N00b”.

As my beloved TC was working together toward glorious victory (which, for those of you who have never played with TC, is the single best reason to join the server)…
I was stuck in a hopeless overflow server with zero cooperation, teamwork. At the end, a map chat full of “WTH, I didn’t even get anything for that!” Of course not. Didn’t even make it past the first phase.
I did sneak in an early morning attempt on TC this morning and it was pretty clear that Teq was going down sooner rather than later on the homeworld. Just wish I could have been in on the action on this attempt. I’m sure there were people guesting that were keeping me from my home server as well.
I’m just going to log out for a few days and wait until people can decide to work together before trying it again because AFKers, leechers, trolls, and faceroll specialists are taking what should be a fun event and turning it into an exercise in frustration and futility.
Frustrating as it is, most importantly, CONGRATULATIONS TO THE BEST SERVER EVER on being among the first to complete the event!
The overflow I was in got into an arguement of ranged DPS vs Melee and used TS which half the map didn’t have or wish to download. There were people who genuinely tried but no one was working together or taking out smaller threats (fingers.. etc). It wasn’t fun, wasn’t productive, and cost me 10s.
