In WoW it only ever got used in PvP. And you can’t see any emotes from the opposing team in WvW anyway.

Yes you can, you can read the gray text still. I was waved at repeatedly before gang ganked while gathering POIs.

If I wanted to worry about jerks out to gank me, I’d reinstall WoW and go on a PvP server. You have no idea how frustrating it is to finally get to a vista and boom, killed. Doesn’t matter if you are naked and unarmed.

I know that feel, bro. But check this out:

http://mos.millenium.org/na

Get familiar with this site and check it every once in a while to see how your server is doing in WvW. There is a “Live Map” button you can click to see what areas your server controls.

Use this resource and you can get all of the POIs and stuff while it is in friendly territory. It may take a little time for your server to change position on the map as the rankings change, but eventually it will happen. I got 100% WvW Map Completion on 3 characters w/o ANY PvP!

And all the POIs I need are in my server’s hands but I can’t get in to run, get them, and be done with WvW….

Oh wait, nope, gone.. maybe next week.

More like Trahearnes Story....

I’m sorry but the moment he showed up, I noticed the quality of writing declined and I really did feel second fiddle to Trahearne. The writers wanted me to like him, this much is obvious, but he plain isn’t likable by a large majority of players and I’m sure then can explain much better than I what’s wrong with him and direct instances and quotes of how he affects the PS in a negative way.

Yes, there is dialogue of [YOUR CHARACTER] getting the glory but it doesn’t feel much like it. Who is leading The Pact? It’s not you. It is someone who came out of no where and preached to the Orders of Tyria, even had a vision of preaching to them and quibbled that he was no warrior before being given a super special weapon for his super special quest. Do you see what I’m saying there? Trahearne literally is “The Chosen” in this story, he is Luke Skywalker. The problem with that is that this is YOUR Personal Story and you shouldn’t be R2D2 or even Han Solo in it. The player wants to feel as if they are the chosen one, they want to be the hero. Trahearne’s issue is that he takes that from the player character, he praises you again and again as do others but it’s very very clear that this is his story and he will make the choices and he occupies the most important position. What is being said and what the story is showing you are two different things here.

About the Order reps – really they were the Obi kittenenobi’s of the story. They didn’t step on you, you felt like partners. This ties into how Trahearne is written and absolutely cannot be discussed as a separate issue. You say “this is the story of you and your friend” – the problem is that Trahearne doesn’t feel like a friend at all. Trahearne feels like that “baggage” you’re forced to take on a video game escort mission and that fault lies entirely with how he was written and how his AI reacts in combat. If Trahearne’s role was instead filled by your Order partner, I doubt there would be a lick of complaining – you cannot discuss Trahearne though without touching upon how poorly he is introduced, written, acted, scripted, etc because they all impact why he isn’t liked and why many feel he takes over the Personal Story.

As for the SPOILER moment in The Source of Orr – boy did that feel fake, that Trahearne line especially. The story gave me no reason to consider Trahearne my “dear friend” or to care that we were sharing this “special moment”. As I said before – baggage forced upon me that the story insists I grow fond of without giving me any reason to grow fond of him. If the writers had instilled Trahearne with a personality and quirks as they did for Tybalt and Forgal and handled Trahearne’s role better, there would be the feeling of “we’ve come so far, let us finish and celebrate together” but it’s not there. Words on the screen giving you “credit” feel empty without weight behind them. It’s there in Victory or Death, very much so, but again – Destiny’s Edge is full of more genuine characters with genuine personalities whom you’ve watched genuinely struggle and grow and the dungeon lacks the feel of being upstaged.

I honestly do not know how to get it through to you that the emotion in the “being showered with praise” post-Trahearne is severely lacking and the game’s actions contradict it. It’s sort of like the game is telling you that you’re the hero while the story is showing you that you aren’t.

Taking damage brought one out of stealth, unless vanish was just used. Here, we got thieves stealthing, then stealthing right after their first stealth runs out. I guess we all have to spend money to beat a class…

Tell you what we’ll make a trade, I will accept your damage reveals my stealth, if I also get the timerless stealth of the WoW rogue. As long as we stop channeled attacks from continuing to target a thief in stealth.

I’d take that deal too. I liked how WoW treated stealth.

This complaint again, seriously?
You have 4 maps with, let’s face it, not much on them to get. You don’t even have to engage in PvP if you go at the right times and watch what your servers doing. PvE and WvW are not seperate entities.

Well, yes, WvW and PvP are separate entities. That’s why we keep them separate.

Besides look at it from the other way, WvW players who don’t like PvE have a hell of a lot more to do outside their realm of enjoyment than you do if they want one.

That’s true. Although I don’t understand why someone would do that. Do you really log in, make a character, head straight for WvW and never leave? That blows my mind. It’s like buying a movie, but instead of watching the movie you just watch the trailer for the movie over and over and over again. You’re not even playing 90% of the game!

That’s okay though. WvW is not there for me; it’s there for you.

BUT

When a WvW player goes into PvE to do map completion, they are free to explore at their own pace, solo or with friends, and no one is going to randomly murder them just for the hell of it.

When a PvE player goes into WvW, there are other people ACTIVELY trying to stop them from accomplishing their goals.

So no, it’s not an appropriate comparison.

^^^^^^^^^^^

THIS. This is why I don’t want to bother with WvW. If I wanted to worry about jerks out to gank me, I’d reinstall WoW and go on a PvP server. You have no idea how frustrating it is to finally get to a vista and boom, killed. Doesn’t matter if you are naked and unarmed.

And if you are JUST playing GW2 for WvW and never set foot in PvE… seriously? That really is like going to a movie just to watch the previews then leaving.

I did

I quoted it as an example of level 80 doesn’t always mean skilled and a level 80 can hold you back just as badly as a lower level if all they’ve done is grind to level 80 so some elitist won’t kick them out of a dungeon group.

Maybe in some cases, but generally someone under 40 it’s just a given that they are going to make it harder on a lvl80 group in AC (or not even all 80). Not even speaking of pro speed runners in zerker, just casual lvl80 groups that haven’t speed ran an AC path 100’s of times and don’t plan to, and still humanly bound by time. Sure, 60’s-70’s, but the thread is more questioning why lvl80 players wont help lvl 35 players power level in AC as if it’s some requirement in this game hehehe – and if they don’t, obviously they are just kitten-kitten-kittened elitists.

Well expecting anyone not in your guild to help you power level is silly. You join a guild so you can have guildies to aid you with stuff like that

PvP is a non-factor as it is a seperate entity. Different stats, gear and everything. WvW and PvE share everything.

WvW is a mini game. It doesn’t even count on the log in screen, btw. My Guardian’s stats say “Map Completion: 100%” but when I get in-game, it’s 99% due to WvW.

Dungeons are also PvE, why don’t their POIs count?

Why don’t POIs from once a year events like Wintersday and Mad King exist/count? Also PvE. Would make Legendaries much harder to get too.

Why aren’t there JP POIs in PvE? You could say “because not everyone can do JPs”, well not everyone can tolerate WvW either and mesmers do exist to port folks.

And why even put vistas and skill points in an area filled with ganking e-ego folks to begin with? Why not have POIs for every fort and leave it at that so eventually, you’ll get them all when your server starts on that end of the map? Why not have a “spectator” designation where you can’t help your own server in any way but you don’t have to deal with ganking? Do you guys seriously like waiting in que, unable to help keep forts, because a bunch of people needing world completion went in with no intent to help fight and aren’t leaving until they get that one tower they need?

Seriously.

This is just not really true. You’re the one that gets most of the acknowledgement. It’s you the pact salutes after “the source of Orr”. Trahearne doesn’t credit himself with what happens in the source of Orr, he says that you did it together. It’s true that Trahearne leads the pact, but doesn’t every game have an authority higher than the player? Doesn’t every game have an order giving person? Almost all games do.

Trahearne doesn’t even participate in “victory or death” (the final mission)…

Seriously, I think these arguments are just bad. I’m trying to remain as spoiler free as possible, but I have a lot more ammunition against the notion that it’s Trahearne’s story. You’re still the focus. You’re still doing all of the risky stuff. You’re still the one who gets the most honor. You just have to share the spotlight somewhat, which is not a new concept in gaming. Luke didn’t complain that Han was with him all the way until the end of episode 4…

Really?

The problem is Trahearne is like Veggie Jesus who unites the Orders of Tyria with little to no effort and, unless you are Sylvari, he comes absolutely out of no where with no backstory and is suddenly respected by everyone.

I think you missed the point of a higher up as well. When you join an Order – you also get a higher up that you share the spotlight with and those higher ups feel like real people with real personalities who are there to benefit you and your story. I am staying spoiler free but just look at how many players love and care for Tybalt Leftpaw. He shared your spotlight, like Han shared Luke’s. Tybalt worked with you even though you were technically working as his charge. Trahearne takes your spotlight but allows you to graciously stand in his shadow while he goes on and on and on and displays he has absolutely no charisma or battle skills but somehow, everyone adores and reveres him. He doesn’t feel real. He isn’t sympathetic. His Wyld Hunt is purposeful but the way he is written leaves you feeling like he could have just gotten any old lackey to do the dirty work for him – why must he be a focal point anyhow? It’s like choosing Tingle to rescue Zelda while Link is standing right there. Why would you do that?

The only time you get your dues is in Victory or Death and guess who isn’t there for most of that? Guess who sits that one out? Guess why that final dungeon feels like a Personal Story and not “Trahearne’s Big Adventure”?

Level 80=/=skilled.

When I first joined, I was pushed relentlessly by my first guild to get to level 80 ASAP before they’d even do a single event with me – including dungeons. So I leveled alone and I didn’t go through learning how to use my skills and traits to survive or benefit a party because I wasn’t ever in one. I was told all dungeons were for level 80 only and if I was below 80, I was holding back the group.

Sooooo… get a different guild? It wasn’t until my third guild here did I find a guild that did things proper.

The first was like that, though I was already leveled when I joined, but that’s how they treated lower level players and even so – they constantly wiped, it was painful to play with them. Second guild seemed to be more solo people just using a chat channel, the leader was hardly ever there (playing WoW) and the only active officer did all our guild missions with her other guild during the middle of the night when none of us were on – burning up all our contributions to do it. Leader wouldn’t do jack about it, didn’t effect his night elf mohawk. The third, maybe 20 people on at peak on a good day, lots of variety, usually do something every day, we have most guild missions unlocked, everybody has something to do regardless of class or level.

If you have problems with your guild, well you can have five, ya know? The other two of course I dumped outright.

I did

I cared until Trahearne showed up out of no where and made my story all about him. Oh and then was as useless as a wet noodle during battles. The great firstborn Sylvari who fights as well as your average PUG. Lovely… and you’re stuck with him.

You know why Victory or Death was my favorite part of the Pact storyline? No Trahearne, the story let me be the hero, and I felt like I, my character, was important again.

Welcome to the club.

You know what I noticed? Dungeons have POIs. Why aren’t these required? They’re actual parts of the PvE game. WvW is a PvP mini game. An optional PvP mini game. WvW isn’t part of PvE. Know what else? PvP has POIs but those aren’t required.

Anet has yet to give a decent answer as to why players are forced into WvW for this but yet PvP and Dungeon POIs aren’t needed. Why on earth there are vistas and skill points in an area where some kitten is likely to gank you even if you’re naked, unarmed and kneeling so he can boost his e-ego in the first place?

Ill be totally honest with you.

I cannot stand when someone joins and they aren’t a level 80. This game is designed to run dungeons purely at level 80, even the lower leveled dungeons. In the past i used to allow it but they are such a nuisance, and the dungeon almost always fails because of them.

I usually kick and block players who even attempt to stay in a party that are low leveled. Especially when they join quick runs/experienced runs. I hope I’ve blocked OP

Considering the fact that I completed every dungeon while on characters that were the recommended level, I must disagree that you almost always fail because of non-80s. That’s just bad playing. I and 4 of my guildies can grab level kitten, 65 whatever the recommended level is for that dungeon and clear it without issue. That I can assure you. It is certainly easier on an 80, but we’re talking about going from intended difficulty (like what they recommend) to ROFL easy on a geared 80. Again, this is assuming players are competent and geared with the best they can get for that level.

It sounds like you prefer easy content over slightly less easy content.

I’m gonna have to agree. The only dungeon we failed in this entire week was the new TA because no one knew it and the mechanics are challenging to learn. We had 80’s, not 80’s, newbies, experienced players, players still learning dungeons, zerkers, not zerkers, etc….

If you prefer a speedrun, other quoted player, that’s cool, just specify it and the lower levels who can read and know how to play will avoid you and likely block you. I know I will just on principle.

I have never done a dungeon and never will bc of peoples ugly attitudes. They all say they don;t want to carry anyone, who said they wanted to be carried? What if we want to learn? We’ll never get the chance thanks to these people

I have done a dungeon almost every night this week because I found a guild that’s minus the bad attitude, willing to teach, and has a strict no drama rule and guess what I found out? I don’t entirely suck, I prefer to be somewhere between an offensive and support Guardian, and wiping is supposed to be a learning experience where you start to see what you are doing wrong and improve.

So my suggestion is to find a nice, small to medium sized guild of people who aren’t out there to be “the best” but rather to have fun. They won’t mind teaching you and, at the end of the night, you’ll be a better player.

Things I don't like in GW2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Aerlen.5326

Aerlen.5326

Things that don’t seem right to me:

1) Gear. I have yet to see a level 80 who’s gear stood out to me saying, “That dude looks like he could own some crap!” Besides a few Warriors who looked cool, the gear in general doesn’t look that “epic” to me. For a level I am putting so much time/effort into getting, along with gear that I put a huge amount of time in for. I’d like the gear to look more fancy. Like the player is BA, or if you saw him in WvW you’d think twice about attacking him.

2) Zone level scaling. I get this one, you can always go back to old area’s and play them like you are still that level. Again, this takes away that “epic” feel though. Other MMO’s I remember playing, you’d beat an area and come back at max level and feel that power of being able to crush things that once gave you so much trouble. It felt like your character that you are role playing actually “advanced” and grew as a character. Things that once were hard, are no longer. Showing how far you have come. You never get to feel like you have a powerful character, things are always a struggle.

3) No Open World Pvp. I get that you don’t want spawn camping or there is no point. However, I loved that feeling while you were leveling and wondering who was going to be around a corner you turned. You truly felt like your life was in danger. Or after you have been killed, a higher level came to your aid. I get there are no fractions but maybe have guild vs guild? Example: If you are in a feud with another guild, you can kill them in your world. Guilds battling guilds, in open world. This game is called Guild Wars?

4) Mounts. Again, I get that they can take away from the world. I DO NOT support flying mounts. I want the world to still feel big, flying mounts take from that. I also get that you have Way Points. Mounts though, added to an epic feel and gave you something to progress for. That feeling when you finally reached a high enough level and enough money to get your mount. Another “epic” feel factor.

These are the main things I feel are lacking. The biggest one is probably gear. It has no epic look or BA feel to it.

Again, I love this game so far! For these small annoyances I could make a list 10x bigger about things that I love! Just wanted to see if anyone found these things similar. Thanks for your input ahead of time! :-)

1 – Sure. I can get behind that but ONLY if you agree women should have epic Not-Bikini Armor gear too. You have no idea how it kittens me off to want to dress my Guardian in a style that suggests purity, strength, resolve, and determination and only find “LOL CLEAVAGE AND THIGHS” in the majority of examples when the men get impressive full plate armor that makes them look like knights and heroes.

2 – No. Nope. Nein. Level scaling provides a challenge so you can’t just faceroll a lower level area and makes it so players often have to work together instead of one 80th level dude taking down an entire event by himself. You want that “epic” feel, a lot of other MMO’s don’t downscale.

3 – Absolutely NOT. I don’t want the stress of worrying about some jerk ganking me to prove the size of his e-ego – if I want that, I will go into WvW. I’m not against a PvP server being formed but make it an option, not a forced choice on all servers.

4 – No. You seem to be in search of an “epic” feel – have you crafted a Legendary or Ascended?

So I got to level 80 and they finally took me to their regular weekend run of CM and guess what? We all stunk. They’d never learned how to use their skills in a group either and it was a clusterkitten of four people all out for themselves only, unable to work as a team, and me confused as heck as we wiped over and over and over and then completed the path purely by luck.

And it was like this every time, by level 80 they had all decided how they were playing their class and weren’t open to change. As for me, I felt really cheated out of the chance to learn my skills as they came and what playstyle best suited me instead of rushing to be 80 just so I could go “play with the big kids in the sandbox” then standing there absolutely clueless. It would have been great to go to my first dungeon at level 40 and gotten a taste of what they were like instead of this elitist idea of “Get to 80 or get out”.

If you want to play with other people that are exactly similar to your stats, SAY IT.

This basically sums up the whole thread. People shouldn’t be such kittens to kick players mid-run only because they don’t run the gear they DIDN’T ask for. Simple.

Seriously, is this so hard to do? You want only Zerk – then SAY SO. No staff Guardians? SAY SO. No Rangers.. you get the picture. If I see a group that says “lvl 80, ZERK only” then I’m not gonna join and I’m saving both you and me the trouble of potential drama. You get to play your way and I get to play mine – awesome right?

Here’s how to solve this (please take this post with a heavy dose of sarcasm).

Eliminate all classes/professions except for warrior. Playing differently and enjoying different classes and skills lessens damage output. Make all traits fixed as well. Next, eliminate all armor and weapon types except for Zerker. Since it’s the best in the game, the others clearly don’t matter so no one will miss them. Finally, change the game name to Zerker Wars 2 and remove all signs of individuality in the player base. Everyone will be running Zerker and will be a super elite dpser.

I know the whole deal with MMOs is to appeal to the “male gaze” but GW2 has a pretty large female player base too. That said – can you please knock off the skimpy armor? I understand one or two sets but this (http://dulfy.net/2012/08/11/skimpy-armors-in-gw2a-list/) is 100% ridiculous – I was incredibly disappointed when I looked at the female heavy Vigil armor and found it to be a joke while the male version was fully covering and looked great. Same with a good number of medium armors. I can get the Norn and Sylvari cultural armors for both females and males being a bit skimpy but humans too? Why? What sense does it make for a woman to run around with her thighs exposed and cleavage popping out while her male cohorts are wholly armored? Why is the T3 medium armor top just a scrap of material while the male isn’t exposing any skin on his chest at all?

Please either give female characters some wholly covering, flattering armor, or start making armor that leaves the male characters looking like eye candy too. And for the love of the Six, fix the Vigil armor.

zaxziakohl, the only one harassing people here is you. Calm down.

I’d take a good hard look in the mirror at yourself Aerlen, you’ve replied 5 times in one page for a topic that doesn’t even really have any affect on you. I’d lean towards you are harassing people, because I consider what you are doing trolling for peoples reactions.

That being said, me replying your reply to me above seems a little unnecessary at this point.

As for anyone else that commented negatively towards peoples upsetness, how does this affect you exactly? I don’t honestly care that I missed out, because the wings ARE ugly and I only intended on putting them on an alt.

However, it was still ANNOYING, and the lack of communication or clear time period since there wasn’t a definitive timer on the achievement nor was there one on their Tequatl Rising Event Page, I personally couldn’t find one on the wiki when I looked before either although I know that can be changed. As for a different person stating that the time period is something people should inherently know that living stories are 2 weeks in time period. I’m sorry that’s not something EVERYONE KNOWS.

As for showing up to Tecq in the 3 days I had to play I showed up 9 times, killed him twice had any of those counted even as halfsies I’d have gotten them too and yes I showed up for the broken one and waited 3 hours last night too before realizing it was for nothing since the daily was gone. My only complaint is to me September 30th, a Sunday, a weekend day, should have counted. Clearly I’m not the only one who had that thinking.

Anyhow good day to you all, and I’m sorry to everyone else who missed out on yours too.

Trying to talk logic to people, explain why it isn’t going to work exactly as they want and talk them down =/= trolling for reactions.

The problem is, this was clearly a technical issue and a lot of us were very aware that we better get our Boss Week achieves done before reset. I don’t have all the achieves from a lot of past events either but it’s my own fault for not getting them done, it’s not on Anet’s head to break the game for me.

Thanks at least for curing me from feeling sorry for you guys. Cheers.

That could be the Fire Elemental, or the Golem, or the Maw Shaman. Need I continue? Now if you don’t mind, how about you go somewhere were you DO know what your talking about and harass those nice people instead. Obviously you didn’t get screwed, so why do you care anyway?

Except that you are wrong.
There were 2 different dailies, one where you could fight any world boss and one specific to tequatl. So basically you could get 7/9 without ever doing stuff related to tequatl.

This.

Also – several of the world bosses were also glitched yesterday, least on my server.

Sounds like they can be AFK before the thing starts, but while the event is going on they can’t be AFK.

It has nothing to do with “nerd” fandom.

Ok, let’s say geek fandom, “nerd” term (in my huble opinion) is connected more to computer related interests. You may be right, although I think Bronies weren’t created because that a trend but because new series are simply fun to watch :P
Also:
http://humon.deviantart.com/art/Fake-Fans-376435775

That’s not why MLP fans don’t like Bronies, BTW. It has to do with being sexist, racist, homophobic and pretty kittening awful behavior that shouldn’t be discussed on a family friendly forum.

Bronies came to be on 4chan, it’s where the term came from. It’s a great series but a lot of us really don’t like Bronies and what they did to Pinkiepony kinda was the last straw.

Yes, if you are a girl/woman. Than you would be called Pegasis.
I think dislike from one nerd fandom for another fandom for being, let’s say, unusual is like pot calling the kettle black.
Also vote Discord for new ruler of Tyria

Nope. The Brony fandom and culture is it’s own deal, there are MLP fans who have absolutely zero interest and nothing to do with Bronies. MLP wasn’t a “nerd” fandom until Bronies came along either, it was mainly older women and little girls who either grew up with MLP and still collected it or who were children and enjoyed it – in the same vein as Barbie collectors. You never heard much about them because it just wasn’t an “internet” fad or popular with the type of people who meme everything to death. In fact, the main MLP collectors and fanbase are still older women and little girls – Bronies are a subgroup of teenage and college age young men who are obsessed with ponies to an extreme degree. It’s a fad for them and will eventually die off, leaving the MLP collectors to collect MLP in G5 and G6 and every other generation because it’s what we do. I’ve been here since G1, before most Bronies were born, you don’t get to come in and stomp all over my hobby and claim it as yours or define a community that has existed since the days of hair metal.

My dislike stems from the way Bronies behave and personal threats made on their website and in real life towards a 17 year old girl. It has nothing to do with “nerd” fandom.

TL;DR – Fans of FiM only get to identify as Bronies or Pegasisters. Fans of MLP as a whole (G1, G2, G3, G3.5 and G4) generally identify as MLP fans.

I have a couple charr and an engineer (one character is both of these things) I haven’t noticed any glaring issues or bugs. In my opinion these issues with how low the number of players using them can be summed up honestly like so:

Charr don’t have cleavage.
Engineers take more effort / patience to play like other classes.

Same reason there aren’t as many Mesmers. It’s a complicated class that’s less rewarding up front.

So you never noticed how your charrs tail magically pokes through his armor? Or that his hair disappears when he puts on a hat? Same with his horns? Or that if you equip a 1 hand weapon it will magically shrink? Or the many many stretching issues because pretty much all the armors in the game were made to fix human skeletons and not charr?

But yeah, no cleavage so all our complaints are moot.

I think every race has the “put on a hat, now you’re bald” issue and there’s been no sign of fixing it for humanoids either.

No Boss Week Daily?

in Tequatl Rising

Posted by: Aerlen.5326

Aerlen.5326

I had to out of town when the event happened with no internet ability and came back Thursday evening, did it Thursday/Friday and Saturday, but unfortunately needed that Sunday to make it count. It wasn’t a problem showing up when I was home since the requirement to be there is a small time period, but ideally if it’s still September we should have gotten the chance. That’s the point I think everyones trying to make.

Participate in 4 teq events = 15mins/per day (1hr/4days) (4 points) (1 Short)

But it’s not September. The moment that Monthlies popped, it was no longer September.

And the achievement in question had nothing to do with monthly achievements, it was a daily …and dailies don’t reset until the following day .

You are aware Teq is broken, right? Even if it had been a Daily, you still couldn’t get it. And what about that Daily post-patch? With the content gone, it would have been broken which would have lead to a reset of Dailies right after patch. That didn’t go over too well last time it happened with Monthlies being reset due to Scarlet – can you imagine people logging in to finish their October 1st Daily and finding it reset because of a September event being on it? There’d be a million posts of “I had my October 1st Daily at 3/5 and you reset it because of Boss Week???”

Seriously, you had two weeks. It’s a purely cosmetic reward. September was over as of reset last night, I’m sorry you can’t get your wings.

Also, the october 1st daily wouldn’t come down until after resets today, that’s how dailies work…. so no one would have missed their dailies for october… leaving in one achievement until resets today wouldn’t have negatively affected anyone in any form.

What I’m trying to tell you are logical reasons why having “Here There Be Dragons” as a Daily wouldn’t have worked.

The patch goes live around 12pm today. The server resets at 5pm. After the patch, there is no more Boss Week content. Between 12pm and 5pm, you would have a glitched Daily due to no more Boss Week content.

Tequatl and other dragons have been glitched since 5pm yesterday. You would have a glitched Daily no matter what.

Are you suggesting Anet should have given you the Daily then reset Dailies after the patch or had a Daily that couldn’t be completed remain on the list for five hours? Because that is what you are literally saying. You are literally saying that the game should be broken so you can get a cosmetic item.

No Boss Week Daily?

Aerlen.5326

You all have 2 weeks to get the achievement done for every Living Story. You can get 6 of them done in one sitting without trying. This leaves the last 4. Those were to participate (not win) a dragon event. That is 4 days out of 14. If you all really wanted this, get it done asap. If you have other excuses like work, internet, etc….you can’t blame Anet. If you did not have the time, you did not have the time. Everyone knows how long they have with the living story achievements. I would never wait that long for a reward I wanted, and if real world got in the way, I would not place the blame on Anet.

The ONLY excuse you all can use is that Tequatl did not show up at all last night due to a glitch, but it looks like the monthlies had already reset by then.

Have..you honestly not been reading these threads? People are angry because if they didn’t have time or the ability to get the last daily until last night, they were absolutely cheated of it, because ANet’s devs chose to not give one more daily DESPITE it still being September across much of their playerbase. Not everyone has a schedule that allows them to play the game often and more than a few people on here had to wait until last night for that final daily to pop.

Not providing one last daily before new patch content THE FOLLOWING DAY cheats your players and is just plain sloppy.

And have you read the replies?

-Teq is broken and has been since reset, other dragons have also been glitched. Even if you had the Daily you would be unable to complete it.

-When the new patch popped, any Daily for Boss Week would become unable to be completed, likely resulting in a complete reset of Dailies post-patch… meaning a large group would be cheated out of their Daily reward and that went over so, so very well when Monthlies were reset last month.

-The patch doesn’t go live at server reset – it goes live around 12pm server time which means it’ll pop before new Dailies. So technically, yesterday at sever reset was October 1st for the game.

This is simple logic, not anyone kittening you out of your wings.

Same here. was down to the very last point and was counting on being able to do that one last daily. Then all of a sudden I realize there is no more boss daily…..since when did patches roll over in the middle of the night??? Usually if I miss out on LS stuff it doesn’t bother me too much but this one was a cold move on their part as evidence by all these posts. Had we known ahead of time it would be different. Just 1 more stinking point….are you kidding me….grrrr. And before the high and mighty’s chime in, I did the tequatl stuff as much as I was able to. Not everyone has all day to devote to getting this stuff done. I was counting on being able to squeeze in that last daily. Had I known it would end up like this I wouldn’t have bothered at all.

10 minutes to collect the dragon bits per zone x3 = 30mins. (3 points)
Find Rox and footprint = 5mins (2 points)
Participate in 4 teq events = 15mins/per day (1hr/4days) (4 points)

All day devoted to this? 1hr35m over 4 days is very light. Now consider the event ran for 2 weeks.

That scavenger hunt took more than 10 minutes per map… even with dulfy/similar showing each spot, you still had to run + wp all over the map.

Participating in events = yes, 1 hour in total… but it didn’t spawn at the very minute when you logged in, and if you are bound by other commitments in life (say, e.g. i have 2 kids under 2 years old and GW2 can simply kitten off when they (the kids) cry for food/attention/nappy change, whatever).
Condense everything and it looks very feasible – manage to play through it as a casual or even a casual/semi-hardcore who might have periods they cannot login – then you’re not always lucky to catch an event when you have time to login.

Then, and forgive me for this, you have to accept you cannot get every achieve, every item, or participate in every event – especially not time gated ones. I have bouts where I’m sick or have bad weeks due to a RL disability. If I can’t play and get the events done because my RL health is more important, it’s on me – not on Anet, and I’ll do without that reward. It stinks but that’s how things are.

I hate to say this because I do feel bad for you guys but…

I do understand why there is no Daily for Boss Week today and I certainly wouldn’t have expected there to be one. The game rolled over to October at server reset, the minute the Monthlies reset September was done. That included September’s events, so why would a Daily for a September event be included in the Dailies for October 1st? The moment the new patch went live – that Daily would become uncompletable, leading to a possible reset of Dailies on update… and you know how well the community would take that. Remember last month’s reset due to Scarlet?

While, as I said, I do feel bad for those at 8/9 – there was a deadline and that deadline was well known. We all knew the new month would start at server reset and content could be yanked or unavailable at any time after that.

I’m running into this even on my own server – groups derailing an otherwise valiant effort for an achievement that means absolutely nothing or just being total kittens and griefers. We even had someone say they were going to log into their and any other account they could find and dance in the Teq area near the turrets AFK just to tick off everyone and spawn champs to purposely fail the event. Just to watch everyone complain and laugh.

People losing interest already...

in Tequatl Rising

Posted by: Aerlen.5326

Aerlen.5326

The BIG reason why people are losing interest already is because of the insane queue time.

For people who have already completed him and got all the achievements, it is not worth waiting an hour or more to wait in queue to do Teq, even though the fight lasts only 15 minutes. It’s not a good use in time.

For people who have not completed him, they are probably already discouraged or off guesting to more populated servers.

I did teq for probably the first 5 days of release. I didn’t do anything else but wait in that zone. I’m not going to do that again since I have everything I want in terms of achievements and the rewards are not worth an hour wait.

Anet needs to give us better rewards for Teq, but I think they should be time-gated. Give us a token for each successful Teq defeat per day that can be exchanged for unique rewards at a vendor, including but not limited to special dyes, pets, finishers, skins, minis, e.t.c.

This is also putting me off. I love the fight and the mechanics but three hours to get into my own server with a chance of “network error” just for blues and greens and, MAYBE if the moon is in the right spot and the stars twinkle just right, an ascended or mini?
