And these folks aren’t the reason things keep getting nerfed. The reason things keep getting nerfed is because of the other end of the spectrum – the folks who play to win and use every exploit they can find to do so. All of the players who aren’t exploiting the game are scrubs by the definition given, everyone who plays “fair”. The book that quote comes from goes on to say “The scrubs will play for fun and not explore the extremities of the game. They won’t find the most effective tactics and abuse them mercilessly”. The good players “found the cheap stuff and abused it”. These are the players who are the reasoning behind nerfs, they found something cheap and abused it until Anet changed it then they cry their exploit is gone.

It stinks but that’s how it is.

Low levels without a ton of wardrobe choices, lots of gold, gems, dungeon tokens, and transmute stones are sorta stuck with those two are choices for a lot of early levels.

I’d like a vest without sleeves or with short sleeves. A vest that comes up to neck level with no freaking boobie panel. I’d like fancy, flowing skirts without a mid-drift bare or a boobie window. I do have toons who would dress that way but most? No. No way. Give some low level light armor choices that aren’t skimpy, poofy or meh. The guys get them!

Also – would you prefer a butt window or a stuffed thong as a proper comparison for men? I was trying to stick to something seen as a sexual symbol. A bare chest on a man isn’t seen the same way female breasts are.

“Yes, I get that, But why is sexualizing women’s bodies more than men’s inherently bad?” – because it’s a symptom of a societal ill that’s a lot worse than just skimpy armor in a video game and affects all women every day of their lives. Keeping this thread on topic means we probably shouldn’t go there.

And lastly…. LET FEMALE CHARR HAVE FEMALE ARMOR TOO >:( The one race I’d want skimpy on to show off fur patterns and they’re all covered up like the guys!

Why it’s a bad thing – it’s sexualizing women and women’s bodies while men’s bodies aren’t treated the same way. If men had testicle windows, garter belts, high heels, and tiny skirts as part of most of their armor sets, I’m pretty sure no one would care about female designs with the same sort of skin showing features.

I voted for more non-skimpy and by non skimpy, I mean no freaking boob cups, boob windows, or other crap that screams look at my T&A. I can’t tell you how much light armor I can’t see my toons using because it’s stupid skimpy. You can compare sets all you like – if it’s not readily available by crafting, vendor, or trading post then it’s a specialty armor you’re going to either have to spend gems on or buy and those aren’t the crap you’re stuck in until level 60. Unless you have a large wardrobe and plenty of transmute charges, prepare to look awful in either the garter belt mage get up or as a harem girl or with a huge poofy skirt.

No one wants to do this event or co-ordinate for it. It’s only four days post-patch and I’m having issues getting the achieves even. If Boss Blitz is active, you can’t kill the centaurs and soloing the vets didn’t go so well anyhow. To make matters worse, after spending almost two hours clearing Boss Blitz with a small group, I got nothing as a reward. How wonderful.

I really wish Anet would learn from past mistakes – people don’t want to work together on a scale like this and if there’s no loot incentive, after the majority have gotten their achieves in a day or so then they’re gone and you have empty maps with content no one can complete solo. Why bother when the reward is nothing?

Mine finally pulled through too. After downloading a file, it would drop to 0 and need to be restarted. Did that over and over for two hours straight, finally have the game patched.

I’d talk to Verizon but.. I don’t have FIOS so I don’t even understand why I’m having this issue and it certainly is an issue.

I spend quite a lot in the Gem Store – if I can’t reliably count on being able to play thanks to patches not downloading, I will gladly spend it elsewhere. Nothing is more irritating than spending real money to redo a character and not being able to play for 8+ hours thus far.

I’m on Windows 8. I’m not a tech person. I do not want to download more programs.

What am I supposed to do? How do I run notepad as admin? I don’t even HAVE FIOS, I just have regular Verizon DSL and this is happening.

I’m with TTS too and I agree – the biggest victory is when you make it to the map where your guildmates are fighting Teq/Wurm/Karka Queen because thanks to megaservers, it’s filled in 30 seconds. It doesn’t matter if you got there on time or an hour early and tried to join ASAP. Be prepared for 15-40 minutes of spamming “join” and praying to the GW2 gods that someone crashes or a non-guildie leaves that map.

Yesterday, we had a map filled so fast that 50 TTS members were locked out. In less than a minute. At least with overflows, you had a chance.

Why can’t a Guild Instance be implemented that’s by invite only? This megaserver thing is killing coordinated attempts to take on open world bosses.

But zerging/herding will happen literally no matter what content is added and good lord, no, do not add the “more people = less loot” tactic. That leads to some brutally nasty and toxic environments. Look at That World MMO From A Company That Shall Not Be Named – only one person gets the big loot in the dungeons and that often leads to the other players berating whomever won the “need or greed” roll. Do you want to be the person who runs over to help a small group only to be verbally assaulted because you cost them a loot bag?

Queensdale train lives and is running the same as always. The train that players kittened and whined about the most, wanted eradicated and gloated the patch had “killed” was literally not affected. Many players skipped the Spider pre-patch to begin with because it went down too fast.

The train that almost no one complained about in FGS for higher level toons was destroyed though – that’s some backwards logic at work, Anet. Nuke the one no one had an issue with, force everyone to run the train that kittened off half the player base.

Be careful what you wish for next time, anti-train folks!

1 Inspect Feature – Be able to check another players build/stats/gear.
2 Dueling System – Be able to accept or send duel requests (with the option to turn dueling off, so other players won’t get annoyed)
3 Weapon Dying – Be able to dye weapons the same way you can dye Armor.
4 Rework Stealth – Currently there are no solid counters to stealth. Add skills that reveal stealthed foes in a radius…
5 Precursors/Legendary Weapons – I want to see legendaries the way they were described to me originally. “Players will combine pieces they have gathered/earned from all over the game world into legendary weapons. Not bought” Precursors should be no more valuable than the next exotic weapon…. and we should not have to rely on buying them from another (lucky) player through the trading post. i havent been asked to let a keep be broken into… but a small group of people did one time ask me to bust northeast tower, and i allowed it. similar situation. one guy needed the one POI for his legendary. had a small 5 man group of guildies who were helping him. i was on first response and had repelled them once already from the tower. but they partied me and asked what it would take for me to let them in. “dont cap it” was good enough for me.

as long as your position is obviously weaker and you dont try any funny stuff, some people would probably be sympathetic.

Maybe on the lower tiers, but SoS is always matched vs the top servers, who take wvw way too seriously. No way they’re giving up a fully upgraded keep as a favor, especially not the EB keep.

Yeah, this doesn’t work with serious WvW servers. They give zero kittens about your need for map completion.

I thought I’d bring you to the attention of Vanquish [Vanq] as well. We’re 18+ however, most of our members here are around the ages 25-45. Our primary home is in Tarnished Coast which is what you seem to be after. We’re an all around guild as well so you can join in on Fractals, WvW, dungeons, etc.

While many of us are experienced in our gaming (casually hardcore as some of us say), we have a fair number of newer players that we help out with slower, explained dungeon runs and among other things.

We definitely do not restrict anyone’s play-style to only berserker gear or only Warriors, etc. We’re very open about what class you want to take. Of course, some exceptions might apply with high level Fractals since Agony is a must. Other than that, there is no real restriction.

We ultimately want players that can represent us for the majority of their time online. Especially while doing activities with us.

You’re actually the guild that absorbed my old one. I intended to follow but saw there was a 100% rep (I can’t, TTS requires rep during events and I have friends in another guild I talk with) and no novelty toon names allowed.

The only issue with the champ train is the attitude of some people running it. That’s it, if those select individuals would behave and not act like the world had ended if a champ gets killed by someone else – it’d be fine.

The champ train serves the purpose of extra gold, fulfilling Dailies, earning karma and leveling. Sure, it’s boring. So is going around doing every last heart on a map (face it, a lot of those tasks are “kill x number of things”). A lot of players just hop the train for relaxation with a guaranteed payout. If you don’t like it, well, that’s fine but don’t take it away from everyone else.

Looking for casual active Guild on TC server, not too interested in “mega” guilds but enough members to be around during various times of the day is best.

Prefer older players 25-35+ and absolutely no drama.

No strict requirements such as “zerkers only” or “hardcores only” – can’t handle elitist attitudes either – very much a fan of playing how you like, at your own pace and at your own skill level.

I’m a member of TTS and am with other guilds so I cannot rep 100%. I also have novelty names for several of my toons and don’t take the game super serious.

I want to run and learn dungeons, learn fractuals, and do guild activities as well as have a social group and groups for LS events.

Any open guilds fitting this?

I’d like to see some decent female heavy full armored sets like these 2. Well the 2nd armor set isn’t completely full armored but it looks good.

I’d buy that first one ASAP. That is exactly what I want to see – “feminine” armor that isn’t about skirts and boob windows.

1. More skimpy male armors and more “frilly” male armors – why should only the women get to go around half dressed and in feathers? But seriously – I want to show off my male sylvari’s glow and skin patterns and more “guycandy” options would be nice. Also – revealing sets on a female toon that are also revealing on a male (Pit Fighter is a great example of how that’s done).

2. Mage type robes for light female classes, with pants underneath please. I’d love to see a set of beautifully decorated robes (maybe with runes on the fabric and flowing sleeves) minus the revealing bit. Male light armor classes, female charr and female asura get these, why can’t humans, sylvari and norn have them too?

3. A nice looking heavy female closed helmet like the male Phalanx had.

4. Leather armor and “swashbuckling” type armors for medium that do not fall into the “Oh look, a trenchcoat” category. Rangers and Engi’s would likely wear some thicker protection anyhow.

5. More dye-able channels on armor – think of the money to be made on dye packs!

6. Pants for female toons. Please stop with the mini skirts and the poofy skirts on everything, our thighs are not made of steel.

7. Heavy armor for females minus “boob windows”, “hip windows” or any windows unless both male and female armors feature them.

8. Sylvari type plant armor made to be revealing to showcase glow and skin patterns.

Last I heard, Anet has already said if they dislike the new flamekissed that they aren’t getting their T3 armor back – it’ll revert to the original exotic armor. Skin is lost. Forever. They have to rebuy it.

That is only an assumption due to the fact that a player by themselves cannot revert the skin, since a splitter will only give you back the item’s original skin.

ArenaNet has said that if you do not like the new skin, you can get a full refund and that support will take care of your individual needs, which implies they will fully fix the problem.

Someone said they asked Anet about this and submitted a ticket only to be told that no, they will not get their T3 skin back. They will get the original exotic armor back.

If that’s changed, good on Anet, but I haven’t heard it has.

I am one of the few who actually love the armor…

They will remove the look because it was a Cultural Tier 3 set for Humans, just with flames added. It was a kick in the face for Cultural wearers. Especially when ALL the races could wear it as well.

They will change the look into something else, and that is for everyone who bought it. When they update the look, and if you don’t like it, you will get a refund, but the look will be taken away from you.

However, if you used transmutation stones and decide you don’t like the new flamekissed, you are out of luck. You will more than likely not get your original armor back. There are already at least three human players who had bought human light T3 as a skin for their exotic armor and then used the flamekissed skin as an upgrade who will be losing their 120 gold T3 armor completely.

Makes me wonder who got the worse end of the stick here… those “kicked in the face” or those out 120+ gold and their armor.

I say the folks who got the skin removed now need to compensate those completely kittened by it’s removal if said people do NOT like the new flamekissed skin. It’s only fair – I’ve heard complaint after complaint of how 800 gem armor made their work for 120 gold worthless and read countless threads about “doing the math”.

Well, your complaints cost some people 120 gold or more. No, not everyone knew that was T3 armor and “controversial” – I didn’t realize until I came to the forums. I held off buying because of the very vocal crap on the forums. Others? Not so lucky. So now, I know of five people completely kittened because they bought exotic armor, earned the gold to buy human T3 light, transmuted it for the skin and then transmuted it to flamekissed yesterday… and now Anet won’t fix that. Is it their fault? Do they deserve to be out that gold and have to earn it all over again?

Please tell me how much gold all of you complaining lost out on because flamekissed existed for 24 hours.

A gem refund isn’t going to fix the issue of armor bought just to have that skin applied to it. A lot of players have multiple armor sets and will shell out the cash for a whole new set of extra gear just to put the new skins on it. That’s not cheap at level 80. Do they get a refund for that too? The armor is soulbound, they can’t resell it. What if they put the skin on their very expensive only set of armor? Will their armor revert to the style it was before the skin was applied or do they just lose it all together? What about people who also bought make-over kits and name changes because they completely remade their character to go with the armor (I saw one person who had indeed done that and was incredibly happy)? Do they get refunds on that and a free revert? And what about those who are human, who own T3 light and decided they liked the flamekissed better?

A lot of people are going to be very very negatively impacted by this who spent very real money – both gold and/or gems and all I hear is “no1curr, my exclusivity is more important!!! My 120 gold pwns whatever you spent! YAY ANET!”

Really, Anet, you’ve put forth the standard now that if enough whining and threads threatening to quit are made – you’ll do something (But Phalanx for females is still a trainwreck..). What should have been done was to not reskin the T3 armor to begin with or let people keep the armor they paid for, pull the flamekissed and redesign it without forcing those who bought the previous version to have theirs changed. That’s called “compromise” – the folks who don’t want cultural armor sold in the gem store can deal with the whole 24 hours it was available and the small minority who bought it knowing it’s not going to happen again and their status is intact and those who bought the original don’t have to have what they paid for abruptly changed or taken away but they cannot buy additional sets.

The way it’s being done now? Ugh.

Hey, everyone. We’ve been reading all your feedback about the Flamekissed Armor Skin that was released into the Gem Store yesterday.

Although the Flamekissed Armor uses the same mesh as the Tier 3 Human Cultural Armor, it was not our intention to create an armor skin that so closely matched the existing Tier 3 Human Cultural armor set. The intention was to use the mesh as a basis for creating an armor set that stands apart and is distinct in appearance. However, after reading your feedback, we agree that the Flamekissed armor is not visually distinct enough from Human Cultural Tier 3 armor.

We will do a few things to address this issue.

• We will temporarily remove Flamekissed Armor Skin from the Gem Store.
• Players who have purchased Flamekissed Armor Skin will keep the skin.
• We will make new art for the Flamekissed Armor Skin that achieves our goal of making a visually distinct and attractive armor set and does not closely resemble the Human Tier 3 Cultural armor.
• Once this new artwork is completed, we will then update the Flamekissed Armor Skin so that all existing sets that players have purchased get the new art. We will also offer the Flamekissed Armor Skin for sale again at that time.
• When we update the Flamekissed Armor Skins with the new artwork, any player that has already purchased the set and who does not like the new, updated look, can get a full refund by contacting Customer Support.

Note that there is no ETA on when this change will happen. We need to work with the Character Art Team to determine when we can have a new armor skin ready, and this could take some time.

Bananas do not have the same clout as T3 cultural armor. A better analogy might be “If you buy an iPhone for $600 today just to see it in promotion tomorrow in half the price, will you boycott the vendor, lol”.

It’s still a terrible analogy since it does not include the “exclusivity” element, which is pivotal here.
A better analogy would, therefore, be:
“If you buy X, which is designed for a group of people C1, for $600, just to see it in sale for a group of people C2 ( for which it has never been designed ) for $300, will you boycott the vendor?”

I’m actually a very open person in regards to who I dungeon with – regardless of which class you are, regardless of what stat armor you wear. I just dislike the idea of people supporting ANet’s idea of reskinning cultural gear.

I never said I would lecture them or treat them poorly. I’d just tell them to kindly leave the party – and this would be before a dungeon/fotm run began 99% of the time I’m the party creator, so there’s that.

Once again, the problem is reskinning unique cultural gear – I don’t care if someone wears a foot-to-toe armored gear, or half-naked gear.

Reskinning gear is the problem.

That’s pretty much what I was asking last night. I have 4 human characters and all 4 of them are wearing the T3 armor, I have 4 Norn characters and all of them are wearing T2 or T3. I don’t see the problem in it. I would welcome other races being able to wear the norn armor as well. In general there’s not much modification when it comes to the characters. I am just surprised how much drama people stirring up over some freaking armor lol

Oh trust me, I have paid attention to all 90 topics about T3 armor…. All other complaints are even worse than the “I PAID 119g FOR MY T3 ARMOR AND NOW I CAN GET IT FOR 79g” So let’s keep it at that for this thread.

I paid a ton for my human heavy T2/T3 mixed armor plus the stones to transmute past level 80. It took me one entire year to afford (thanks for the gold boost, Tequatl).

If I saw it in the gem store with extra particle effects and every race could use it…

Seriously… I’ve paid full price for things in real life, things that were limited edition collectables, only to see them 25% off and the edition number increased. It stinks but that’s life. I think Anet made a lazy choice with this armor but I’m not going to pitch a fit over it. They likely won’t ret-con it… but if enough noise is made, this’ll likely be the last time you see this done.

… shame because I really would like some of the other racial armors on my Charr…

That said, this IS the cultural armor I wanted for my sylvari since I hate the T3 light female sylvari armor and she IS an elementalist based around fire so I kinda can’t complain.

Here is the thing. People don’t hate Scarlet because she’s a good villain who fulfills the role of being unlikable due to her actions, they hate her because she’s a very poorly handled one. Take for example Umbridge from the Harry Potter series. She’s absolutely despised, even more than Voldemort, for her cruelty and her actions. She is a very well written villain whom we can see every teacher who treated us unfairly, every bully who humiliated us and every person in our lives who inflicted evil upon us in. She is relatable, she is a personification of personal injustices and things that are wrong with the world.

When people say “I hate Scarlet”, they aren’t meaning it in this way because Scarlet isn’t written as well as Umbridge.

Don’t get me wrong, I like the idea of Scarlet Briar. That idea being that here we have an intelligent antagonist who would rather harass and cause big problems than try full out world domination and who enjoys playing different factions against each other to do the dirty work while always giving herself a realistic “way out”. We’re supposed to wonder what’s wrong with her, what her motivations are, what her deal is. We’re supposed to care even though we despise her.

That’s the idea but… that’s not how she’s being written at all. She’s not “real”, she feels fake and cartoony. The real feelings of seething hatred and personal identification aren’t there. The reaction isn’t “KITTEN! Scarlet Briar! How DARE you hurt those people! You need to die for all your sick meddling!”, it’s “Oh. It’s Scarlet. Again. Kitten, why? Ugh… well this story stinks now. She’s just gonna poof away and ruin some other story…” No one cares about her motivations because she was written too “larger than life”, given too many boons that made no sense against the backdrop of lore, given no realistic reasoning for her constant escapes, not gifted with decent personality traits and inserted into stories like a last minute scapegoat.

When I picked the reactor fractal over the Abbadon one, I did so because I wanted to see Asura history and learn more about what happened at that reactor. I wanted expanding on Asura lore in GW2. I did not want “SCARLET DID IT!”

Don’t care about privacy, more concerned with elistist attitudes, but I too would like an Opt Out. I don’t enjoy this sort of competition.

Champs camping skill points in general needs to be looked at. This and the one in Caledon are probably the most frustrating examples because both are generally dead maps where you’re not going to find help. If these were veterans instead, I doubt it’d be half as hard to kill them and grab the point.

Also gonna agree on the “he sees through stealth” because he 100% does, you cannot sneak past him. I got the point only because there were two others who needed it. They distracted him while I got it then I distracted him while each of them got it. You probably can use NPCs to distract him too.. but why should you have to?

You know, you can kill everything in the tower with full zerker too. You just need to ‘’learn to dodge’‘. Would be fun when they would release a dungeon with boss timers so you actually need to run dps specced.
Until they do that, I don’t think I’ll enjoy PvE in this game a lot…

Ugh… a dps race type of boss would be horrible for this game. It would only reinforce the fallacy that dps trumps all in GW2. I like that they’re working to break that bad habit that lesser MMOs have cursed upon so many.

Why?
The whole game is already based around ’’dps’’, especially PvE.
The real ‘’pve pro’s’’ only run in full zerker to finish everything as quickly as possible. Wouldn’t blame them tbh, getting rewards the fastest way is pretty much the only thing that keeps pve interesting in this game, the combat itself is just horribly motivated to make a macro to spam 1, move with 1 hand and kitten with the other one. That’s about the skill you need to play PvE in GW2.
The only way to fix that is to put a time limit on bosses so people actually start figuring out what else there is besides #1 spam and troll defensive builds.

So yeah, I don’t really see your point.

You talk about skill then you talk about exploiting the game mechanics with zerker to clear content ASAP… which is a zerker pressing 1 to down everything and dodging a bit. That’s not skill, that’s breaking the game in your favor so you can do a bum rush to the end without stopping to enjoy anything. That’s the mentality I just don’t get. Hurry up so you can be done with everything… and then what? Stand around LA? Show off your backpacks? “Oh look at this Legendary I never get to use much”? What is your end goal even?

Mind you, I do think full zerker does take skill to run in certain situations because you are a glass canon and you have to learn to play it… but I see zerkers laughing how they faceroll everything and then screaming for a challenge. Well, they broke the game mechanics. They’re given a challenge and they either completely speed clear it using those broken mechanics or they find out zerk gear does them no good in clearing it (Tequatl) and they QQ on the forums about it.

I hate to have to tell you this but picking the most powerful uber build encourages bad, boring play too because you can just put anything down. In other games “challenge” usually means handicapping the player in some way (sometimes the player will handicap themselves), ya know, not running the best game busting gear to whup butt ASAP.

GW2 was not meant for people with your mindset – it was sold on the idea of avoiding it. That’s why most don’t want an “inspect”, don’t want a DPS meter, don’t want the crap that has made other MMOs toxic.
